Recognizing Numbers ( Math Block)
Lesson Plan Subject: Math Topic : Counting number and Recognition Teacher: Carmen Maddox Date : 3/ 14/2012 1. Objectives - Count and identify numbers from 1-10 - Demonstrate one-to-ne correspondence from 1-10 each object as they count it. - Recognize, model, and write whole numbers 1 through 10. 2. Standards A). Children will learn step by step from concrete to visual, symbol and then abstract. B). Students will use real material to work with. 3. Anticipatory Set We're going to use numbers to represent quantities such as counting objects in a set. 4. Teaching Presentation 1. Input, It's a great counting activity that is very easy to make and also great for building math skills. 2. Modeling, I will use paper plates with the different numbers on them and a variety of items for the counters. 3. Checking for Understanding, Whole group count numbers 1 to 10 and then I choose some children to count themselves to see if the students are paying attention, after I put the paper plates on the floor and ask some children to recognize each number and then place the correct number of items on each plate. 5. Guided Practice I will give to the children sitting at the table a worksheet with different numbers printed on it and with this worksheets we practice recognizing different numbers, and we glue different items to the paper, but the same number as what is printed. 6. Closure After we finish the lesson, we will address any questions or concerns the children may have, and after all questions have been answered, we'll move on to the next step. 7. Independent Practice The individual work to help reinforce everything we've covered in this topic will be to have the child count the pictures that are in different cards and then in a piece of paper they have to count the pictures printed on it and write the correct number.

Healthy and Unhealthy Food ( Literacy Block)
Lesson Plan Healthy and Unhealthy Food 1 Objective: -Identify nutritious food that promotes health. -Choose a variety of foods that are good for your body. -Discuss the importance of eating healthy foods. 2 Standards: a)Students will identify and spell different kinds of fruit with 90% accuracy. b)Students will give their undivided attention during the lessons. 3 Anticipatory Set: Today we've going to talk about foods and fruit in general. 4 Teaching Presentation 1.Input, I will read the book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" 2.Modeling, I will use different kind of fruit and food picture. 3.Checking for Understanding, I will stop often and ask questions about the story to see if the students are paying attention and that they understand. 5 Guided Practice I will work with small group of children. They will color pictures of different fruits and spell the names. 6 Closure I will use a chart on the board called "Healthy and Unhealthy food" and the Children classify the different kinds of food as corresponding on the Chart. 7 Independent Practice One activity I feel to be very helpful to the children to help reinforce everything we've covered in this lesson is to have the students spell the names of the fruits and read the short sentence.

Circle Time Songs
Circle Time Songs We start our day with the Good Morning song. We sing at every circle time, this is a super song to interact with the children each day. Everybody dances and sings together. I'm working with the calendar and singing the song "Days of the week" in English and Spanish, and months of the year.

Creating a Story ( Literacy Block)
Lesson Plan North Carolina Seven Point Lesson Plan Subject: Language and Art Topic: Literacy Block Teacher: Carmen Maddox Date: 3/28/12 Objective - Children use imagination and creative abilities. - Encourage the children oral language development and social interaction and demonstrate print concepts. Standards - Children create stories using only their imaginations and creative abilities. - The characters in the story are made up as you go, and developed further as the story progresses. Anticipatory set Children are going to use the imagination and in their own words create a story. Teaching Presentation 1. Input, The teacher will create the basic instruction and the children will create characters in the story. 2. Modeling, I will use a large paper, crayons and markers. 3. Checking for Understanding, I will draw a picture in the piece of paper, and ask the children to create the characters for a story. Guided Practice I will work with small group f children, and they will look at the picture and create the title for the story as well as the entire story. Closure The children create the end of the story Independent Practice The children will be empowered to create and develop the characters in a story, and the children want to make believe they are these characters.
