TCU - Harris College Simulation Labs
Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences has two simulation labs for nursing students, one for undergraduate and one for graduate nursing. The simulation lab is a learning center outside of the classroom for students to gain hands-on experience in a controlled environment. Kinesiology students also utilize the lab for training in athletic training courses. One lab includes video recording capabilities, two adult simulators, a six-year-old child simulator and a maternity simulator—which actually gives birth. The undergraduate lab also includes an intensive care room and nurses station that mirrors an area hospital. The other lab, for the nurse anesthesia program, includes an adult simulator and a child similar and is set up like a real operating room. For more information on the programs, visit http://www.harriscollege.tcu.edu

Demolition of the Brown-Lupton Student Center
The remaining portion of the Student Center was demolished on July 16, 2008 at noon to prepare for the construction of Scharbauer Hall. Demolition of the "connector" building began Friday, June 13 at 8 a.m. and work has continued for the past few weeks. The buildings have been dismantled piece by piece using equipment with a "claw" to remove the debris. Earlier this year, TCU Trustees voted to demolish the current Brown-Lupton Student Center and rebuild it as academic space. The new 74,000 square-foot-structure, named Scharbauer Hall, is designed to more efficiently house several academic units such as AddRan College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the John V. Roach Honors College. Administrators estimate that the process will take approximately 18 months.
