Only one sperm will fertilize the egg; if it is a Y sperm, the child will be a baby boy and if it is an X sperm, the child will be a baby girl. Thus, baby planning revolves around increasing the odds that either a Y or an X sperm will reach the egg first. The 3 ways you can conceive a baby boy naturally are: 1. Diet A woman's diet is extremely important in baby planning because the correct internal acidity is theorized to help the Y sperm move faster and live longer. The Y sperm requires an environment that is more alkaline in nature. The PH level of the cervical discharge of a woman's body needs to be less acidic. One thing that helps determine the PH level of cervical discharge is the food that you eat. If you want to increase the chances of conceiving a baby boy, you should include in your diet foods that are rich in sodium and potassium, such as pickles and bananas. 2. Ovulation Planning Y sperm does not live as long as the X sperm so it means the insemination should happen as close to ovulation as possible to have a baby boy. You should track your ovulation period so that you can know when is the right time to "do it" with your partner. As you know, your ovulation period occurs about 16 days after the first day of your last menstrual flow. You can also buy an ovulation kit to determine when is the best time to have a baby boy would be. 3. Position during Intercourse The Y sperm generally moves faster than the X sperm but cannot live as long as the X sperm does, so getting the sperm as close to the egg as possible gives the Y sperm an advantage. During intercourse, use positions that allow deep penetration so that the Y sperm is able to reach the egg as quickly as possible. So these 3 methods will help you in conceiving a baby boy. What Happens When You Eat a Handful of Walnuts Every Day. A daily serve of walnuts in women at high risk for diabetes significantly improved diet quality and lowered cardiovascular risk, with no negative effect from extra calories. Walnuts are an unusually nutritious food being a rich source of vitamin E, magnesium, folate, polyunsaturated fats, fiber, protein, and phytonutrients. Walnuts also have a very low omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acid ratio compared to other nuts. Overall these nutritional qualities make walnuts an important food for protection against cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of premature and preventable death globally. To see if simple advice to eat walnuts daily could improve heart health a group of women at risk for type 2 diabetes (they were either overweight, had poor blood sugar, high blood pressure, and/ or poor blood cholesterol) were provided with 392 g of walnuts per week (56 g or ½ a cup day providing 366 kcal). After 6-months tests revealed that diet quality, endothelial function (indicating improved vascular health), total and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol improved significantly from baseline with the walnut-diet. Despite the additional calories there was no negative effect on body weight. According to the NY Times, a big US study found that eating potatoes more than four times a week can increase your risk of high blood pressure. First it was cancer, and now it's hypertension. What did we do to deserve this from the potato gods? This study included a whopping 187,453 men and women, all of whom were followed for 25 years and would be checked up by doctors every two years. All subjects were controlled for factors such as exercise, smoking, and other various bits and pieces. The simple facts from all this sciencing is this: Those who ate potatoes four to six times a week increased their risk of hypertension by 11% compared to those who are potatoes once a month. Chip lovers have it even worse, as those who ate four servings of fries a week actually increased the risk by 17%. So it is a good decision to reduce the intake of potatoes as it could be good for you. 9 Foods That Can Cause Kidney Stone. Our kidneys play a vital role when it comes to filtering waste out of the body. Each day, these organs on either side of the spine, filter more than 200 quarts of blood and 2 quarts of waste products before it’s flushed out of the body via urination. Obviously, healthy kidneys are essential for proper detoxification. However, certain foods can cause kidney stones and keep these organs from functioning optimally. The 9 foods that encourage kidney stone development are: 1. Excessive Caffeine Too much caffeine—in the form of coffee, tea, and soda—can stress out the kidneys and lead to the development of kidney stones due to higher calcium levels in the urine, and even kidney failure due to the stimulant qualities that can cause organ exhaustion. 2. Rhubarb If kidney stones are hereditary, you should steer clear of foods that contain oxalates (the material that makes up the actual stones). Rhubarb is one food that’s particularly high in oxalates. 3. Sardines If you’re prone to kidney stones, you’ll also want to curb your diet of any foods that are high in purines (an organic compound that boosts aroma). Sardines are extremely guilty of purine content so don’t pop that can top. 4. Artificial Sweetener You probably use artificial sweetener in your coffee as opposed to sugar in order to cut calories. And maybe you opt for diet soda for the same reason. However, studies show that non-caloric sweeteners impair kidney function if consumed long term. So it’s best to opt for natural sweeteners like honey, stevia or agave instead. 5. Meat Animal proteins are also linked to kidney stones and organ damage. And those who consume a high-protein diet put particular stress on their kidneys because protein waste is difficult to eliminate form the body efficiently. Meat is also high in uric acid, a common cause of kidney stones. 6. Salt A healthy amount of sodium in your diet is necessary for healthy fluid levels. However, adding salt to your diet—via the salt shaker or processed foods—encourage water retention retaining water, meaning excess sodium isn’t flushed out of the body and the kidneys and blood pressure are put in jeopardy. 7. Dairy Foods We eat dairy products because they are high in calcium to build strong bones. However, for those prone to kidney stones, calcium is not a friend. In fact, it increases the excretion of calcium in the urine, making waste elimination more difficult and encouraging kidney stones to form. 8. Processed Foods Most processed foods, like that bag of chips you’re eating, contain genetically modified ingredients—such as corn, soy, rice, and canola—to protect crops from pests resistance and herbicides. However, these products impair healthy kidney and liver function, encouraging kidney stones to form. 9. Carbonated Drinks Carbonated drinks (i.e., soda, energy drinks, and certain bottled juices) will heighten the risk of developing kidney stones and even put you at risk for kidney disease. How Much Should You Walk to Lose Weight | Walking for Weight Loss. When you want to lose weight, many diet programs and health experts recommend brisk walking as a calorie-burning cardio exercise. But what is the right amount of walking each day to help you achieve your weight loss goals? So How Long to Walk Each Day for Weight Loss. You should aim for a brisk walk of 30 to 90 minutes most days of the week for weight loss. You can walk more on some days and less on others, but the total time for the week should be at least 150 minutes (2.5 hours). You should walk fast enough that you are in the moderate-intensity exercise zone at 60 to 70 percent of your maximum heart rate. You should be breathing harder than usual and can speak in full sentences, but you couldn't sing. You can use your heart rate and exercise zone reading from a fitness band, app, or heart rate monitor to ensure you are exercising at moderate intensity. While you can break up your walking time into periods of 10 minutes or longer, you get an added benefit of burning fat when you walk at a brisk pace for longer than 30 minutes at a time after warming up. If you're new to walking, get started with shorter periods of walking and steadily build up your walking time. You might want to take longer walks every other day at first. Try not to skip more than one day in a row. Consistency is good for burning calories and improving your metabolism, as well as for building new habits. On your non-walking days, try strength training exercises. If you find yourself worn out, take a day off. But be sure to get back walking the following day. So how Far Can You Walk in 30 Minutes? You can use higher-intensity intervals, stairs, and brisk walking to get the most out of shorter walking workouts. Some studies have shown that high-intensity intervals are at least as good as continuous moderate-intensity workouts and can be a good way to fit exercise into your day. Let’s learn how much Calories and Fat gets burned in 30 Minutes. At a brisk walking pace, you would burn 100 to 300 calories in 30 minutes (depending on your weight) or 200 to 600 calories in an hour. By walking for 30 minutes or more at a time, some of those calories will be from stored fat. During the first 30 minutes of exercise, your body is burning sugars stored as fuel. These are used up after about 30 minutes. To keep going, your body releases fat from your fat cells and burns it for fuel. This stored fat is exactly what you want to lose, and it's a good reason to build up your walking endurance so you can walk for more than 30 minutes at a time. Cramps and Stomach Inflammation Although it’s hard to tell if cramps and abdominal inflammation are caused by the liver, you shouldn’t rule it out. An analysis of multiple clinical trials published in Evidence-Based Complimentary and Alternative Medicine showed that compared to traditional treatments, cupping offered positive effects for relieving cancer pain compared to analgesics and anti-cancer drugs. Cupping targets soft tissue with pressure applied to pain points and areas of swelling. This helps to increase blood flow and give the tissues important nutrients and oxygen. It’s believed to help release tissues deep within the body, relax tense muscles and ease stiffness that’s often associated with neck and back pain, migraines and rheumatism. Practitioners use pressure along with heat and suctioning (and sometimes needles), near the site of the injury. Why Cardiovascular Fitness Is Important For Your Health. Cardiovascular fitness is the ability to handle aerobically challenging situations of varying duration. The leading cause of death in the United States is heart disease. Improving cardiovascular fitness can reduce your risk of developing heart disease by increasing the efficiency of your heart, lungs, and blood vessels. The easier it is to pump blood through your body, the less taxing it is on your heart. Your heart’s contraction strength, the elasticity of your blood vessels, and the efficiency of your blood to carry oxygen all improve if cardiovascular training is effectively executed. Cardiovascular exercise also aids in maintaining a healthy body composition. Aerobic and anaerobic exercise, especially at higher intensities, contributes to a healthy Caloric burn. The fat you store on your body is reserved for periods of prolonged or intense activity. Training the cardiovascular system through high intensity intervals increases the activity of certain hormones, such as testosterone and growth hormone, that stoke fat burning. While low-intensity, steady-state cardio burns a higher percentage of fat, high intensity exercise results in greater total Calories burned, and speeds up the enzymes associated with burning fat. Finally, having greater cardiovascular fitness means you can confidently complete activities that have a cardiovascular demand, such as climbing stairs, hiking, biking, swimming, and even strength training. Being able to move through your day without feeling winded can make a huge difference in your confidence and quality of life. A good cardiovascular base allows you to train harder during strength sessions without feeling fatigued, as well! It is very common to perform cardiovascular exercise as your ONLY form of exercise. In the example above, the marathon runner has developed their cardiovascular fitness, but neglected the other pillars. As a result, they are protected from diseases associated with the cardiovascular system, and can handle aerobically taxing situations, but are still susceptible to the consequences of having poor strength, mobility, and body composition. The lack of strength training, coupled with only moving the joints in one repetitive motion, can exacerbate joint degradation and lead to overuse injuries, poor posture, and immobility. If an individual could run a marathon, but was unable to confidently pick up 100 lbs off the floor, would you consider them physically fit? Could they complete a variety of physical demands, and come out uninjured? The runner may escape developing cardiovascular disease later in life, but their poor mobility and lack of strength may lead to needing a knee replacement, or they become more susceptible to falling due to a lack of muscle mass. What Happens to Your Food After You Eat It !. Different foods have different effects on your body, it’s good to know what happens during the digestive process. It will really make a difference in how you make your food choices! How food is digested is made up of a very complex system that provides the fuel and power for your body. The body cannot use food that is eaten until it is broken down into very small molecules like protein, vitamins, carbohydrates, and fats. Only then can the body absorb these molecules and process them through the blood, liver, kidneys, and the entire digestive system, working to separate the good parts from the bad. When you chew food, saliva begins breaking down food; which is why it is so important to chew your food well. Chewing food properly is something that few of us do, and it can have wide ranging health benefits. When you eat food, the first stage to digesting it is the process of chewing it down and breaking it up; failure to do this properly – because you’ve been in a rush, or because you were talking or eating in front of the TV, is not only impolite but also a fast track to a range of health difficulties. Chewing breaks the food down from large particles into smaller particles that are more easily digested. This also makes it easier for the intestines to absorb nutrients and energy from the food particles as they pass through, while also preventing improperly digested food from entering your blood and causing a wide range of adverse effects to your health. The longer you chew, the more time it will take you to finish a meal, and research shows that eating slowly can help you to eat less and, ultimately, to avoid weight gain and even lose weight. For example, chewing your food twice as long as you normally would will instantly help you control your portion sizes, which naturally decreases calorie consumption. Saliva contains digestive enzymes, so the longer you chew, the more time these enzymes have to start breaking down your food, making digestion easier on your stomach and small intestine. One of these enzymes is lingual lipase, an enzyme that helps break down fats, for example. Saliva also helps to lubricate your food so it’s easier on your esophagus. The chewing process pre-digests your food into small pieces and partially liquefies it, making it easier to digest. Digestion is actually a very demanding task for your body, requiring a great deal of energy, especially if forced to digest improperly chewed food. Chewing properly allows your stomach to work more efficiently and break down your food faster. The bones holding your teeth get a ‘workout’ when you chew, helping to keep them strong. The saliva produced while chewing is also beneficial, helping to clear food particles from your mouth and wash away bacteria so there may be less plaque buildup and tooth decay. When large particles of improperly chewed food enter your stomach, it may remain undigested when it enters your intestines. There bacteria will begin to break it down, or in other words it will start to putrefy, potentially leading to gas and bloating, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, cramping, and other digestive problems. The stomach is a very muscular organ that produces strong acid killing bad bacteria, breaking food down while mixing it together. If the valve of the stomach doesn’t close properly when food is being processed, some acid can leak into the esophagus causing heartburn. The human body obtains the energy and nutrients it needs from food. However, our cells cannot absorb these nutritional benefits until the food has been digested – which means processed and converted into a useable form. Thus digestion is the complex process of breaking down food molecules into energy and other useful components, which can then be absorbed into the bloodstream and distributed throughout the body to maintain good health. Food remnants which are not absorbed during the digestion process are expelled as waste in the form of feces. Digestion involves the mixing of food, its movement through the digestive tract, and the chemical breakdown of the large molecules of food into smaller molecules. Drinking Water on Empty Stomach Immediately After Waking Up! Do you know that drinking water immediately after waking up is a popular ritual in Japan. In this video you will learn about the health benefits of eating salads. Salads composed from even a few ingredients make a nutrient-rich meal. The greens alone have calcium, iron, potassium and B vitamins. Many salad basics, including tomatoes, sweet peppers and the greens, are chock-full of antioxidants. Add high fiber and low calories into the mix and you can't go wrong including a salad in your daily diet. 1. Has Muscle-Building Proteins If your salad is the main course for your meal, don’t forget the protein. Protein provides amino acids, the building blocks for your body’s bones, muscles and cartilage. It’s also vital for the synthesis of enzymes and hormones. Skinless chicken or turkey breast, chunk light tuna or salmon are excellent choices. If you’re a vegetarian, stick with beans, legumes or egg whites to add a punch of protein. One-half cup of beans or a 1-ounce serving of nuts or seeds adds about 5 to 10 grams of protein. 2. Contains Fiber Eating enough fiber earlier in life lowers the risk of developing heart disease later in life, according to researchers at North-western University. Vegetables in salads are good sources of insoluble fiber, which keeps your digestive tract healthy. If you add nuts, seeds or beans to the salad, you’ll get a boost of soluble fiber that helps lower cholesterol and keeps blood sugar balanced. Men should get 38 grams and women need 25 grams of fiber in their daily diet. One cup of iceberg lettuce with one-half carrot and one-quarter of a red pepper provides 7 percent of men’s and 10 percent of women’s daily fiber intake. 3. Contains Healthy Fats A little bit of healthy fat helps your body absorb the nutrients in your salad. Of course, that doesn’t mean you should soak your salad with creamy, fat-laden dressings. Instead, choose a drizzle of olive oil and a handful of olives, sunflower seeds, almonds or walnuts. For a creamier dressing, mash an avocado with a bit of olive oil. In addition to helping you absorb the veggies’ nutrients, healthy fats also provide vitamin E and selenium, help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. 4. Full of Antioxidants Many salad ingredients contain vitamin C and vitamin A in the form of antioxidant carotenoids. In addition to 7 milligrams of vitamin C, 1 cup of spinach has 93 percent and green leaf lettuce has 88 percent of the recommended daily intake of vitamin A. Add half of a medium-sized carrot and you'll gain more than 100 percent of your daily vitamin A. Vegetables that have a better mix of both antioxidants include sweet red peppers, tomatoes and broccoli. Sweet red peppers are an especially good choice.
