Nanci Burns, MSW, RSW, has provided training through the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre - Gail Appel Institute on Temperament for a number of years. As well as writing and speaking about temperament, Nanci has been working directly with students as a social worker and prevention specialist in the Ottawa School Board. She has been instrumental in the development of the Safe and Caring Schools Initiative and is a strong advocate in developing social skills in children as part of their education. Previously, she had worked at the national level and helped establish the National Clearinghouse on Family Violence/Health and Welfare Canada. She was also a researcher at the Family Research Laboratory at the University of New Hampshire. While there, she co-authored Nursery Crimes: Sexual Abuse in Day Care. Nanci is also the co-author of Take Your Temperament: Finding the Way to Family Harmony through an Understanding of Diverse Temperaments.
