How To Install a CHIMNEY CAP - Simple and Easy

03:02
Well it's that time of year again....enjoying the warmth of a fire burning in our home. Well at least it is for some of us. For those of us that still burn real wood in a fireplace or wood burning stove verses the gas logs, we have to maintain our chimney and keep it clear of debris and animals that may find their way in. The best way to do this is to put a Chimney/Flue Cap on. Installating these on most residential Flues is fairly simple. Of course it involves climbing on the roof. We encourage you to use the utmost safety percautions when climbing onto the roof as well as walking around. A secure ladder, proper shoes that have a sole that is less likely to slip (i.e. tennis shoes, work boots, etc), and having someone with you is always a plus, especially because you will need to carry several items, including the chimney cap, with you. Be sure to look down into the chimney before installing the cap and if it already has debris in it, we suggest you have it cleaned out first before installing the cap.
