Do NOT ask about time off, pay, vacation etc. during interview, there is a time for that but this isn't that time. 10. Time all your experiences together and how what you have done in the past will be an advantage for you in this position. 11. Slow down, think about your answer...be real and honest. 12. Zero negatives..."My last boss was a moron" etc 13. Firm handshake, and make sure you say their name several times during the interview. 14. Ask them what it is they are looking for, what is their perfect hire.....and bang, that's you! 15. When the interview is coming to a close, ask for the job, close them....'So based on everything I've heard this is where I want to work, when may I start? 16. And shut up! 17. They try and put you off, "we have others to speak to etc., you come back with, "that's fine but by then I may no longer be available, what would be stopping you for hiring me right now? 18. Get creative based on their reply....Sir, Miss ,give me a shot, bring me in at less money than you offer anyone else, extend my hours, give me the worse tasks you have and let me prove myself to you and a very brief period of time...."Now, when can I start?" 19. And Shut up 20. They still put you off you follow up that day with email, next day phone call, next day text, stay in the front part of their brain and on top of the stack of resumes. 21. This doesn't sound like who you are.....then get used to a JOB...Just over broke job, the rest of your life ,remember, the further you are away from your so called comfort zone the closer you are to a real career and real money!

It’s about their future, not your past. You need to get the interviewers, the most senior interviewers, thinking into the future. If you can't get them to imagine what their life will be like and what their company will look like with you there, you'll never get hired. How? One of the easiest ways to shift their thinking is to shift the discussion from your background and your credentials to their goals. Boom. Where do they see the company going? What exactly do they want to accomplish? Once you know this, articulate exactly how you will take them there—step by step. Here’s what I would do first. Here’s what I would do second. 2. Leaders are inclusive and inspiring. You need to be the high tide that lifts all the boats. Leaders build more leaders. They don't build more followers. You need to show them you're great at inspiring and inclusive. You're great at building teams. How? One of the easiest and most effective ways to show you’re inclusive is to make several references to the other people and the insight they shared! For example, “Hey, Mary Jane said something about this... It really struck me. I love that idea. Mr. Executive Man, I'd love to get your perspective on that especially as it relates to [insert something else here which better be a more grand something else for a deeper level of insight].” 3. Stay away from one-and-done questions because then you’ll be done. Specifically, I mean asking a great question, then receiving their response, and then moving on to the next question. That's the big mistake! The message you're sending to them is that you are a puddle skipper. You are not somebody who's digging deep to get information and collecting it all. You're not well researched. You’re not digging deep enough to get the information you need to make a good decision. Ouch. How? If you have follow-up questions and drill down in your line of questioning, you send the message you are well researched, thoughtful, and making sure you're getting all the information you need to make a good decision. Watch Don show you exactly how to answer "Tell Me About Yourself." Tell me about yourself is one of the toughest interview questions. This is an open-ended question, but really what the interviewer wants to hear is about your recent work experience and your journey that brought you to this point in your career. Why don't they just ask that question instead? Because they want to see where you will go with an open-ended question. Your answer to "tell me about yourself" tells the interviewer where your mind is. If you start telling him that you are a Cleveland Browns fan, then you are way off base with what he wants to hear and you have just made your first mistake. What do you want the interviewer to know about you when you leave, your work experience or your personal interests? I'm confident their hiring decision will be based on your work experience, save your personal interests for the water cooler after you get the job. Wrong answer to tell me about yourself: 1. "What would you like to know?" This statement completely throws the question back at the interviewer in somewhat of an insulting way and he/she is forced to reword the question. Best answer to tell me about yourself: 1. "What part of my work experience would you like me to talk about?" a. Now the interviewer can reply with a simple straightforward answer. Some interviewers want you to start from your first job and others only want to hear about your most recent job. b. If the interviewer would like you to start from your first job, assuming it has been several years since you had that job, then lightly touch on the jobs that you no longer hold, but expand on your current or most recent job experience and accomplishments. Focus on your answer and talk about your accomplishments from your current or most recent job and lightly touch on your daily duties. These are the things an interviewer really wants to hear. Because if he thinks you were successful at your past job, then you will be successful at this job. Even if you don't feel that you accomplished anything, look deep and think of something you did that helped the company. Or better yet, describe an accomplishment that you contributed to the company, just make sure it's in the same line of work. For example, don't take credit for boosting sales revenue if your job is to fix computers. • Briefly talk about your current employer. • Discuss 2-3 of your most significant accomplishments. • Talk about a few of your key strengths as they relate to the job for which you are applying and how they can benefit from your strengths. • Then discuss how you see yourself fitting into a position at their company. 1. Speak of how you completed projects on time and under budget. 2. Tell them how you increased sales revenues for two straight quarters in a row. 3. Describe of how you came up with a new procedure that saved the company money. 4. "I have been in the customer service industry for several years and most of my experience has been dealing with calls from our customers. I truly enjoy working with the people in this business as well as the challenges. In my last job, the good relationships I formed with my customers resulted in me holding the highest customer retention rate of everyone else in my department." 5. "One of my best strengths is my attention to detail. When I set out to work on a task or project, I always make sure it get's done on time." "What is your greatest strength? Is one of the easiest interview questions you'll be asked. When you are asked questions about your strengths, it's important to discuss attributes that will qualify you for the job. The best way to respond is to describe the skills and experience that directly correlate with the job you are applying for. Sample Answers • When I'm working on a project, I don't want just to meet deadlines. Rather, I prefer to complete the project well ahead of schedule. • I have exceeded my sales goals every quarter and I've earned a bonus each year since I started with my current employer. • My time management skills are excellent and I'm organized, efficient, and take pride in excelling at my work. • I pride myself on my customer service skills and my ability to resolve what could be difficult situations. 2. "What is your greatest weakness?" Try to show that my greatest weakness is no longer my greatest weakness. Never mention something you are still bad at. I used to like to work on one project to it completion before starting on another, but I've learned to multi-task better. I think it allows me to be more creative and effective in each one. 08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills 1. "Tell me a little about yourself." You should take this opportunity to show your communication skills by speaking clearly and concisely in an organized manner. Because there is no right or wrong answer for this question, it is important to appear friendly. 2. "What are your strengths?" This is a popular interview question. They want to know what you think of yourself. Although this is a general question, there is a wrong and right answer. The wrong answer is a generic answer saying you are organized and friendly. Although it will not hurt you during the interview, it will certainly not help you either. Answer this question based on the type of job you are applying for. 3. "What are your weaknesses?" For this answer, you should display a weakness that can be seen as a strength. There are many types of answers that will work. Some answers will be good answers for certain jobs, while the same answer will be a bad answer for a different job. Select an answer that will work for the position you are applying for. 4. "Where do you see yourself in five years?" This question primarily depends on where you are in your career. A person with 5 years of experience will have different goals than a person with no work experience.This question is asked to see how serious a candidate is about his or her career. Some people might not know their goals, and some people might have goals of becoming rich and retiring early. Those are incorrect answers for this question. The type of answer you want to give is an ambitious answer that shows you really love your career. A good interviewer will read between the lines and find out if a person is going to be a hard worker or just a mediocre one. Being descriptive and shooting for a big goal is something interviewers want to hear. 5. "What do you know about our company?" A typical job interview question, asked to find out how much company research you have conducted, is "What do you know about this company?" Prepare in advance, and in a word, research, so you can provide relevant and current information about your prospective employer to the interviewer. 6. "Are you good at dealing with change?" Dealing with change is common in the work place. A simple yes will not be sufficient to impress the interviewer. This is another type of question where everyone will have similar answers. Of course everyone is going to claim being excellent dealing with change. You got to communicate that you are really good at dealing with change. 7. "Do you work well under pressure?" In most cases, the best answer to this question is answering yes. Working well under pressure is a good trait to have. However, I think if you answer that you work the same with pressure and without pressure, the interviewer will be more impressed. However, you will need to explain in words why this is better. 8. "How do you make important decisions?" There are many ways to answer this question, and if you have a reasonable method of making decisions, it will probably be sufficient. One answer I thought of included not being afraid of asking your manager. You can follow up by saying even the best needs mentoring, and you always want to improve. So basically, this could work as an answer, but depending on the job, you might have a better shot with an answer like my example.

In this video, I’m going to teach you how to become less nervous in the interviews. Now, before we can do this, we need to find out why you’re nervous. What is it about the interview that’s making you nervous? If you just say, “Interviews make me nervous”, then you need to start asking yourself some questions. And this is what I do with people when I work with them on the phone. I try to dig deep into this and find out the root of their nervousness. Now for some people, they are just afraid that the interviewer is going to ask them a question that they don’t know how to answer. And I suppose that might make you nervous because if they ask you a lot of questions and you don’t know how to answer any of them, you’re probably not going to get the job. So, what you want to do is find out what it is about you that makes you nervous. Is it a lack of experience? I mean, let’s say you’re interviewing for a job and you don’t really have the experience for it and you’re afraid they’re going to ask you questions that reveal that you don’t have the experience. If that’s the case, then you need to educate yourself in that area that you’re interviewing for so that you’re more familiar with some of the terminology that they might be using in this interview and that you would be using on this job if they hired you. So, some people are just nervous because they might not get the job and they need it. They need the money. They need it to make a house payment, a car payment or just to live; whatever it is. So, just the very essence of their own insecurities about interviewing has them just scared to death and they’re really nervous.
