Medical Drug Trial That Turned Into A Living Nightmare

10:31
The first 1,000 people to sign up to Skillshare will get their first 2 months for free: https://skl.sh/infographics9_2 What if you just wanted to earn some money and you participated in a medical drug trial that turned in to something much, much worse. Let's put our learning hats on and focus on our education and learn about what has happened and how not to repeat it Before a medical drug makes its way into the market it has to go through various stages of testing. This starts with a laboratory investigation which might begin with lab-grown human cells and computer models. If the drug passes that test, then scientists move on to animal testing. If the drug gets the green light again we bring in the humans. The drugs are tested on people in what we call clinical trials, or drug studies. These trials might include healthy people or sick people. They can test a drug’s effectiveness, side-effects, or how the body absorbs it (bioavailability). The drugs should already be safe, but there have been times that things went wrong. That’s what we’ll talk about today, in this episode of the Infographics Show, Medical drug trials that turned in living nightmares. The MOST INBRED People Ever

07:36
Inbreeding is a topic we don't often hear much about, and for good reason. But it has an interesting history. Some of the most powerful people from history have been inbred. The nature of their birth did on some occasions change the course of history. In this video I tell the stories of some of them. What's snorting cocaine like? Unbiased look into the cocaine drug blow high to cocaine addiction

07:51
An unbiased detailed experience with snorting cocaine from a former cocaine addict who's now sober over 4 years. Snorting cocaine was a weird experience, it would start off with an amazing blow high and leave me strangely dissatisfied wanting more but not really sure why. The cocaine high is very fiendy if you're wondering "what's cocaine like?" Cocaine addiction is one that made little sense to me as I didn't really enjoy the overall experience but kept coming back. Eventually I accepted I was a cocaine addict from all of these negative experiences and quit cocaine unlike with most other drugs. Quitting cocaine wasn't as difficult as other addictive drugs. The cocaine experience would leave me cracked out and craving to snort blow with clogged up nostrils which made snorting blow next to impossible. The cocaine drug has a short duration of action and is very dangerous. If you look up side effects to snorting coke you're instantly hit with grotesque symptoms I experienced first hand. If you want to snort coke just know it's a really bad idea as coke addiction kicks in rapidly in a fiendy cycle and will likely lead to a cocaine problem. What's Crystal Methamphetamine Feel Like? Why Is It One Of The The Worlds Most Addictive Drugs?

17:44
My experience with smoking methamphetamine (drug) and the high it produced. The meth high is extremely alluring, crystal meth has a extremely intense action on the brain amping dopamine to a alarming level and maintaining that level for a extended period of time. Quitting meth was one of the hardest things I've had to do. Others looked at my addiction with astonishment wondering why I didn't want a sober life. Addictive drugs have a strange way of engaging the user like no other activity. Hopefully this video can shed some light for people who've never tried it before so they can get a small glimpse at why loved ones are using meth. This is not to condone the activity, just to help you understand that meth usage should not be taken personal. Using addictive drugs doesn't mean the person doesn't love you, or that they lack morals, it means that they suffer from a brain disease that anyone who try's this substance would suffer. The statistics are 19/20 people who try meth become addicted. Of those 19/20 only 2% will manage to get sober from meth and stay sober for a extended period of time. If you struggle with crystal meth or know someone struggling feel free to text me or reach out to me on Facebook. Name: Philip Social Media: https://www.facebook.com/CGKid219/

15 BIZARRE Laws From Around The World

10:03
15 BIZARRE Laws From Around The World ► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/vHN6qB For copyright matters please contact us at: miniminter1992.29@gmail.com Everyone is familiar with everyday laws that most of us obey. These can be your everyday things from speeding to just general behavior towards each other, and of course not robbing banks. But aside from these well-known laws, there are some laws so bizarre that you’ll wonder what happened that the law needed to be passed in the first place. Check out these 15 BIZARRE Laws From Around The World. 15 - Hiking naked in Switzerland – It’s fun to think that there is actually a law like this in place for a reason, and one guy found out the hard way that you just can’t go strolling around wearing anything but your birthday suit… 14. Stepping on Money in Thailand is illegal – here is a strange law that could land you in some trouble if you don’t know about it. Although it might not be one that you will have any difficulty avoiding, if there is some Thai money laying on the ground 13. Illegal to be fat in Japan – No one tell Weird Al Yankovich, but if you are in Japan, and you are fat, then you could be in trouble. Although the fine or the consequences of being too fat are unknown, Japan decided it was time to ban being obese. 12. Chewing Gum is Illegal in Singapore – If you like to chew bubble gum, or just enjoy having a stick of mint gum to freshen your breath, you better not do this in Singapore. 11. Owning Too Many Potatoes illegal in Western Australia – If you lived in a communist country, you would expect to find some strange laws about what kinds of food you were allowed to have and how much. 10. Flushing Toilet In Switzerland – Some laws are hard to believe, and some laws are understandable, and then there are the ones that are right in the middle. In another strange Switzerland law, it is illegal to flush your toilet after 10 pm. This is, of course, assuming you live in an apartment building. 9. Feeding Pidgeon’s – here is a law that sounds downright silly until you really understand why it became a law in the first place. In the sunny city of San Francisco, the feeding of pigeons has been made completely illegal. Pigeons aren’t very bright creatures, to begin wit. 8. Forgetting Your Wife’s Birthday – Many of you are saying that this is a no-brainer and we all know we are in trouble if we forget our wife’s birthday, but did you know that somewhere there is actually a law against this forgetfulness. This place is known as Samoa and for some reason, it was made a law. 7. Whaling Banned In Oklahoma – There are probably a lot of you who don’t live in the United States and aren’t probably familiar with the different states. Whaling is banned in many places around the world due to declining whale populations and the fact many are endangered. 6. In Baltimore, Maryland, it’s illegal to bring a lion to the movies – This has to fall into that category of ‘someone had to actually do this for it to become illegal. It’s probably not nice to take a lion to the movies as no one would be entertained except maybe you. 5. Old Mail – This law will probably be a surprise to many. Since 1986, the US Postal Service and any US Authorities get legal access to any mail that is 180 days old, and they don’t need a warrant to open whatever mail that is, be it a letter or even a package. 4. No Minimum Marriage Age – in many countries in the world, there are laws in place that require a person to be an adult before marriage, which is proper in more ways than one besides the fact that little children shouldn’t be married. 3. Wife beating law – We’d like to take this time to remind everyone that we aren’t responsible for any damages arising out of the views of our videos. 2. Walk Your Dog – In some countries, you have to keep your dogs on a leash when you walk them and you have to make sure to clean up after them. But there is no law that says you have to walk your dog, unless you live in Turin, Italy. 1. Changing a lightbulb – Everyone knows how to change a lightbulb. Granted that back in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s it might have been a real chore. But when a light goes out, anyone can change a lightbulb…that is unless you live in Victoria, Australia. We hope you enjoyed this video. Let us know which one of these laws you thought was the most bizarre. And if you liked the video, then give the subscribe button a gentle click and it will respond by letting you know we released a new video. How People in Different Physical States See the World

07:46
Everybody sees the world differently. This statement applies not only to the fact that each person has a unique and individual view on things but also to the different physical conditions. Let's take this picture as an example - this is how a healthy and sober adult sees the world. The vision becomes more and more different depending on the physical state. Have you ever thought about how the people around you might see your common reality in a different way? Did you know that babies can't even see clearly until a certain age? We're about to show you how people in various states and different ages see the same picture. TIMESTAMPS Strabismus 0:47 Myopia 1:20 Hypermetropia 1:56 Practical blindness 2:21 Late loss of vision 2:47 Complete blindness 3:08 Color blindness 3:37 A newborn baby 4:04 A month after birth 4:28 Six months after birth 4:45 Drunk 5:15 After smoking cannabis 5:40 On LSD 5:59 On cocaine 6:28 On heroin 6:56 SUMMARY - It is commonly believed that a person with strabismus sees a double image or, as in some films, can look in different directions simultaneously. The truth is that this person’s brain ignores what one of their eyes sees, so the image is not doubled. - Myopia is when you can see objects that are close to you relatively well, whereas distant objects get blurry. It's happening because light focuses in front of the retina of your eye and not on it as it should be. So don't get offended when people with myopia don't say hi to you on the street – they probably didn't even see you! - Hypermetropia is the other way around - you can’t see what’s right next to you, while the background is quite clearly visible. In this case, light focuses behind the retina. Hypermetropia can progress to the condition, when objects of any distance may appear blurry. - People, who are practically blind can distinguish abstract shapes, colors, and light. However, they are considered blind as they can’t live the life of a sighted person. - Those of us who have lost their sight but still have partial light perception can only distinguish light and darkness. Usually, these are people that were born sighted and became blind later in their lives. - Total blindness looks like complete darkness. But a blind person wouldn’t define the world around him as black or dark as he simply doesn't know what the color black or darkness in general are. - There are several forms of color blindness. The most common one is called deuteranomaly. With this deviation, all colors (especially green and red) lose a bit of saturation. At the same time, the intensity of colors doesn't change. - At birth, sight is considered to be the least developed sense. A newborn baby sees everything around almost completely blurred. Basically, an infant can only see the presence or absence of light because his or her eyes can't focus on parents' faces yet. - After a month, a baby starts to pick out large objects and objects that are about 8 inches away. For example, their mother when breastfeeding. At this time infant's eyes begin to work together and focus, so they also start to track moving objects. - After three months, a child can discern their parents’ faces. After six months, they start to perceive colors, best of all — red and yellow. Then, after three more months infant's vision becomes quite clear so that they can recognize different objects around them. - Obviously, it takes more than a glass of wine to get this drunk. This image shows a strong alcoholic intoxication. When you heavily drunk you start to see a double and blurry image. - After smoking cannabis, your eyesight is similar to that of a slightly drunk person. Some researches state that regular cannabis smoking may result in the delay of vision to the retina. - LSD largely intensifies our view of colors and shades as well as our night vision. It also sharpens the sight. Above that LSD has multiple physical and psychological effects on your health, including nausea, closed-eye color patterns, elevated blood sugar, etc. - This drug exacerbates all feelings: images become "fuller," brighter, and a bit distorted. Cocaine may cause sensitivity to light. - The visual effects are not so important with heroin because when a person takes this drug, their life suddenly loses any sense and their body is overwhelmed with euphoria. Again, the influence of heroin on your system, including the sight, is catastrophic. The Faces of METH: Before & After

06:06
Here is the reason behind the red spots on their faces: Meth causes many users to feel a crawling sensation under their skin (called “formication”), causing them to pick obsessively at their faces. ... The physical effects of meth aren't limited to sores on the face and body—another insidious effect is “meth mouth,” tooth decay that happens as a result of meth use. ********* Music credits: One Fine Day by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Artist: http://audionautix.com/

6 Key Signs of a Crack Addiction | Addictions

00:57
Watch more How to Understand Addiction videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/506662-6-Key-Signs-of-a-Crack-Addiction-Addictions Crack has become a huge problem in our country. The availability of crack is profound. What happened was that cocaine became available in a much less expensive form so people began using crack cocaine in record numbers. What we look for in looking for a crack addiction is a change in the person's physical and psychological presentation in the world. So that's a fancy way of saying that they look differently, they lose an enormous amount of weight, they are not sleeping, they are disheveled looking, there is a change in their teeth -- their teeth become discolored because of the inhaling of the crack cocaine. Emotionally they become very erratic, they become very irritable, again they may not sleep for days at a time. So it's this profound change in their physical and psychological presentation.

Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Addiction is a neurological disorder that affects the reward system in the brain. In a healthy person, the reward system reinforces important behaviors that are essential for survival such as eating, drinking, sex, and social interaction. For example, the reward system ensures that you reach for food when you are hungry, because you know that after eating you will feel good. In other words, it makes the activity of eating pleasurable and memorable, so you would want to do it again and again whenever you feel hungry. Drugs of abuse hijack this system, turning the person’s natural needs into drug needs. The brain consists of billions of neurons, or nerve cells, which communicate via chemical messages, or neurotransmitters. When a neuron is sufficiently stimulated, an electrical impulse called an action potential is generated and travels down the axon to the nerve terminal. Here, it triggers the release of a neurotransmitter into the synaptic cleft - a space between neurons. The neurotransmitter then binds to a receptor on a neighboring neuron, generating a signal in it, thereby transmitting the information to that neuron. The major reward pathways involve transmission of the neurotransmitter dopamine from the ventral tegmental area – the VTA - of the midbrain to the limbic system and the frontal cortex. Engaging in enjoyable activities generates action potentials in dopamine-producing neurons of the VTA. This causes dopamine release from the neurons into the synaptic space. Dopamine then binds to and stimulates dopamine-receptor on the receiving neuron. This stimulation by dopamine is believed to produce the pleasurable feelings or rewarding effect. Dopamine molecules are then removed from the synaptic space and transported back in to the transmitting neuron by a special protein called dopamine-transporter. Most drugs of abuse increase the level of dopamine in the reward pathway. Some drugs such as alcohol, heroin, and nicotine indirectly excite the dopamine-producing neurons in the VTA so that they generate more action potentials. Cocaine acts at the nerve terminal. It binds to dopamine-transporter and blocks the re-uptake of dopamine. Methamphetamine – a psychostimulant – acts similarly to cocaine in blocking dopamine removal. In addition, it can enter the neuron, into the dopamine-containing vesicles where it triggers dopamine release even in the absence of action potentials. Different drugs act different way but the common outcome is that dopamine builds-up in the synapse to a much greater amount than normal. This causes a continuous stimulation, maybe over-stimulation of receiving neurons and is responsible for prolonged and intense euphoria experienced by drug users. Repeated exposure to dopamine surges caused by drugs eventually de-sensitizes the reward system. The system is no longer responsive to everyday stimuli; the only thing that is rewarding is the drug. That is how drugs change the person’s life priority. After some time, even the drug loses its ability to reward and higher doses are required to achieve the rewarding effect. This ultimately leads to drug overdose.
