What Are the Side Effects of Quitting? | Quit Smoking

02:17
Watch more How to Quit Smoking videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/501815-What-Are-the-Side-Effects-of-Quitting-Quit-Smoking Side effects of quitting smoking. Boy! What a big topic that is. So there are wonderful side effects and there are some side effects that are little painful and very uncomfortable at times. Either way they are still side effects. Most people see smoking as just being some bad habit, just one little piece, just one little aspect of their lives that they wish didn’t happen once they are thinking of quitting. However I’m here to tell you that it goes through the threat of your entire life if you are anything like me. I was a pack a day smoker for many years, and I did everything, I smoked over everything, I smoked with everything, so it went through every aspect of my life. So there were great side effects, good side effects, bad side effects and hopeless side effects. Focus on the really good ones. Focus on the fact that you won’t smell bad, you won’t look bad, you’ll have one less thing that people will be getting on your nerves about saying, WHY DON’T YA? That’s always very helpful and in fact that should you’ll be teaching people, if you have children you will be showing them that you can overcome the most difficult things. So those are the good side effects. Some of the bad side effects can be that, well maybe good actually; you might have to get rid of some people in your life. But, some of those people you may not want in your life anyway. Either way you are going to stay away from some people for a little while. Even people you love if they still smoke because that’s too triggering. And the other side effects can be really bad also like a little, weight gain, but I’m here to tell you, I gained some weight, I don’t know if you could see, but I think you can that I’m not crazily overweight anymore. Because one of the good side effects came out of that bad side effect. I gained some weight which made me decide to start exercising, which ended up being a good side effect. So you’re getting the drift? It’s a big life change and it’s a day at a time and it’s a process. So get into your process, don’t be afraid of it, get excited about, of where you are going to end up.

How to Deal with a Nicotine Withdrawal | Quit Smoking

02:08
Watch more How to Quit Smoking videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/501810-How-to-Deal-with-a-Nicotine-Withdrawal-Quit-Smoking There are two types of withdrawal from nicotine. There is physical withdrawal and there is emotional withdrawal. For the physical withdrawal there are nicotine replacement therapies which have nicotine in them and will help you withdraw slowly physically. Nicotine addiction is 80 percent psychological, it's 20 percent physical. Either way it can be a very difficult withdrawal. One of the first suggestions I have is to treat yourself like a little kid, like a child. Get plenty of rest. Eat proper nutritious meals. Nap when you're tired if you can. Take walks around the block. Or, if you live near a body of water or in the mountains, take a beautiful walk and look at the sky. Deep breathe. Breathe in and out. Drink a lot of water. That will also help you with cravings. And the deep breathing will help you when you're feeling panicky and full of anxiety. It's the first thing a paramedic will tell you when you're feeling terrified. When you see a tragic accident a paramedic would tell you, take deep breaths slowly in through your nose and out through your mouth. Well, it works the same way with the nicotine withdrawal. There are many things that you can do to also help you with nicotine withdrawal. Don't let yourself get too lonely. I've already mentioned tired. If you're angry try to deep breathe. Try to talk it out with a friend whatever's going on, because these things can be exacerbated by the withdrawal. You could end up picking up a cigarette instead of dealing with the actual situation. I recommend you try all of these things. Please, reward yourself. Be good to yourself. Don't pick up a cigarette.

By now the whole world knows that smoking is bad for you. But if you've been smoking like a chimney since you were just 4 years old, it's very difficult to quit. After an Extraction

02:41
Hi, I am Trym Gibbons, Dr. Gibbons, with Goodman Dental Care and Tangerine Dental Care. I am here to talk to you a little bit about what to expect after you have a tooth pulled. Unfortunately, at some point in our lives sometimes we have to have a tooth pulled, and our goal in our office is to save as many teeth as we can, but sometimes we just have to take them out. It could be from you need a tooth pulled to have braces so that your teeth can align correctly. Maybe a tooth is decayed and broken off and it can't be saved, or maybe you have extra teeth. Whatever the reason you may have to have your tooth pulled, and when you have a tooth pulled, the big things to remember are generally speaking for normal teeth extraction, you shouldn't have a whole bunch of swelling. You may have some, but not a lot, and the pain shouldn't be excruciating. What can happen when people have a lot of pain afterwards is when you pull that tooth out you are left with that hole in the mouth, and that fills up with blood, and then it just kind of fills over and starts to heal. Well, if, if that blood clot in there is dislodged, it causes a dry socket, and those hurt like the dickens, and that is caused from negative pressure like trying to create a loogy in your mouth, or sucking through a straw or smoking. Those all pull that blood clot out of the socket, and so that is why we encourage you not to smoke or drink through a straw after an extraction. The other things to expect are, you are going to be oozing blood, but a little bit of blood and a lot of spit, looks like a lot of blood, so just be aware of that. The other thing you could do is for the first twenty four hours is use an ice pack on the area, and that will keep down swelling, but the after that you want to use heat to increase the blood flow and to increase healing to the area, and then finally, you know, a lot of times you tell patients to put a trash bag over their pillow, and then put a pillow case over that, but maybe even a towel over that because if you drool in the night with that little bit of oozing it can stain your pillow, but those are some main things to look for when you have a tooth extracted. http://www.tucsongoodmandental.com/blog/2012/11/after-an-extraction/

Quitting Smoking

03:06
you may wonder what our future generation may look like because of the effects of smoking. as young adults we should try our best to stop people from smoking to prevent an increase in disease & deaths. one of my personal experience is i had difficulty in breathing of severe smoking wherein i have to go to hospital just to aid it. i use to smoke for one year and i never thought of the danger caused by smoking finally i quit smoking. i am going to discuss several diseases, statistics, and that you can help somebody to quit smoking. "SMOKING IS DANGEROUS TO YOUR HEALTH" this is the most popular saying in the advertisements it reflects the effects of smoking to our health. i would like to start with what nicotine is. nicotine is a naturally occuring colotless liquid that turns brown when burn and acquires the odor of tabacco when exposed to the air. nicotine is a high powered stimulant and one of the most addictive drugs in fact, the surgeon generaly concluded that nicotine addiction is comparable with the addiction of heroin or morphin.when a cigarette is smoked nicotine first enters whe lungs and bloodstream. within seven seconds, about 15% of the nicotine travels directly to the brain. there are over 4000 toxic subtances in a cigarette. some of these are, arsenic (found in rat poison) acetic acid (found in hair dye developer) ammonia (found in household cleaner) benzene (found in rubber cement) and thousand more. these toxic subtances go in the lungs and blood of our friend and relatives the result of this unhealty habit is defferent types of cancer the center of disease control and prevention reports that cigarette smoking is responsible for 30% of all cancer deaths smoker not only die of lung cancer but also cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, baldder, kidney, ceruix, and leukemia. now i am going to talk about different diseases that smoking could cause. let's start with bronchitis, his/her bronchial tubes become inflamed or irritated emphysema is a lung disease that has no cure. a person with this disease has difficulty breathing because the walls of the small air sacs in destroyed heavy smoker also increase their chances of getting peripheral vascular disease. in this disease the arteries the lead to the arms and legs keep getting narrower as a resuit, not enough oxygen rich blood goes to the arms and legs. it is better to give up complete rather than cut down slowly. if you really want to live a happy life style and living without treat, stop smoking just imagine how would be your health condition if you smoke frequently. think about it. thank you for listening and have a good day! -Arselle Patricia C. Stop Smoking! By Lance Agcaoili

03:43
Persuasive speech STOP SMOKING! Do you smoke? Do you enjoy it? Or are you influence by smoking? As college students, some of us smoke and some of us are constantly surrounded with ideas of smoking. So today I would like to persuade you to realize the dangers of smoking. So today I would like to give you some options of how not to start smoking or even stop it. Honestly I tried to smoke several times. Because I have a lot of problems . But after that, I suffered from cough and colds and I can't breathe properly. And from now on I will stop and try to encourage everyone to stop this deadly habit too. The best way to show that smoking hurts people from different sides is to divide all of the negative influences in several categories. First is the Personal Hygiene, cigarettes cause bad breath, yellow teeth, early wrinkling of skin, and many more. So how can people like you if you don't have a proper hygiene? However not only the hygiene is affected, our Nature too. Cigarette butts cause Water pollution. Because smokers throw it anywhere and it will end up in lakes and rivers. Air Pollution also exist, approximately 4, 000 chemicals are present in cigarettes, which are release in the atmosphere. While hygiene and nature is affected by smoking, our health is often affected. Each year smoking kills more people than AIDS, murders, car accidents and fires. Because cigarettes have a lot of health risks like suffering from Lung Cancer, Heart-Attack, Stroke, Asthma and many more. The person near the smoker may also suffer from diseases due to inhaling of second-hand smoke. Now that you heard all the effects of smoking. I hope this not the end, I hope its the start of new life for us in order to be healthy and have a smoke-free nation. You should learn from my speech, because cigarettes hide the beauty and the cleanliness of life. This is also for the non-smokers, so they will not try it anymore and to avoid inhaling second-hand smoke. I know that convincing smokers to stop is not easy. But I have a message for them. Remember, that only non-smokers can open their eyes to see the real beauty of the surrounding world, which was hidden behind the dense of your cigarette smoke. So if you want to see the real beauty of life, STOP SMOKING!

Smoking

01:29
Hi, I am Trym Gibbons, Dr. Gibbons from Tangerine Dental Care and Dental Care, and we are here today we are going to talk about smoking and why smoking is bad for your teeth. A lot of people say, "Yeah, my teeth are yellow because I smoke," and that's true, but that's not really what makes it bad for them. That's more just what you may think, you know, because your teeth are yellow, but the bad thing smoking does is primarily it's a vasoconstrictor, and what does that mean? You have blood vessels and blood has good nutrients, and it constricts them, it makes them smaller, so you don't get as much blood around your mouth, and your mouth has tons of blood vessels, and it needs constant healing, and when you smoke it takes those blood vessels and shrinks them, and so it can't get as much blood there. It can't cause healing as well, and so what happens is the bacteria are able to live more full lives let's say. They can be happy there, and the bacteria start to cause gum disease under the gum, so you can't really see it, and it starts to kill the bone and different things, and over a period of years and stuff that will lead to your teeth loosening because they don't have the support they need, so that's why smoking is bad. http://www.tucsongoodmandental.com/blog/2012/11/smoking/

Tobacco and the Human Body 1954 Encyclopedia Britannica Films

more at http://scitech.quickfound.net/biology_medical_news_search.html "Early film on tobacco's physical effects." NEW VERSION with improved video & sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-b9Xx9sxXw Public domain film from the Library of Congress Prelinger Archive, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_effects_of_tobacco The health effects of tobacco are the circumstances, mechanisms, and factors of tobacco consumption on human health. Epidemiological research has been focused primarily on cigarette tobacco smoking, which has been studied more extensively than any other form of consumption. Tobacco is the single greatest cause of preventable death globally. Tobacco use leads most commonly to diseases affecting the heart and lungs, with smoking being a major risk factor for heart attacks, strokes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (including emphysema and chronic bronchitis), and cancer (particularly lung cancer, cancers of the larynx and mouth, and pancreatic cancer). It also causes peripheral vascular disease and hypertension. The effects depend on the number of years that a person smokes and on how much the person smokes. Starting smoking earlier in life and smoking cigarettes higher in tar increases the risk of these diseases. Also, environmental tobacco smoke, or secondhand smoke, has been shown to cause adverse health effects in people of all ages. Cigarettes sold in underdeveloped countries tend to have higher tar content, and are less likely to be filtered, potentially increasing vulnerability to tobacco-related disease in these regions... Smoke contains several carcinogenic pyrolytic products that bind to DNA and cause many genetic mutations. There are over 19 known chemical carcinogens in cigarette smoke . Tobacco also contains nicotine, which is a highly addictive psychoactive chemical. When tobacco is smoked, nicotine causes physical and psychological dependency... A person's increased risk of contracting disease is directly proportional to the length of time that a person continues to smoke as well as the amount smoked. However, if someone stops smoking, then these chances gradually decrease as the damage to their body is repaired. A year after quitting, the risk of contracting heart disease is half that of a continuing smoker. The health risks of smoking are not uniform across all smokers. Risks vary according to amount of tobacco smoked, with those who smoke more at greater risk. Light cigarette smoking still poses a significant (though reduced) health risk, as does pipe and cigar smoking. Smoking so-called "light" cigarettes does not reduce the risk. Tobacco use most commonly leads to diseases affecting the heart and lungs and will most commonly affect areas such as hands or feet with first signs of smoking related health issues showing up as numbness, with smoking being a major risk factor for heart attacks, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), emphysema, and cancer, particularly lung cancer, cancers of the larynx and mouth, and pancreatic cancer. Overall life expectancy is also reduced in regular smokers, with estimates ranging from 10 to 17.9 years fewer than nonsmokers. About one half of male smokers will die of illness due to smoking. The association of smoking with lung cancer is strongest, both in the public perception and etiologically. People who have smoked tobacco at some point have about a one in ten chance of developing lung cancer during their lifetime. If one looks at men who continue to smoke tobacco, the risk increases to one in six... Mortality Male and female smokers lose an average of 13.2 to 14.5 years of life, respectively. According to the results of a 50 year study of 34,486 male British doctors, at least half of all life-long smokers die earlier as a result of smoking. Smokers are three times as likely to die before the age of 60 or 70 as non-smokers. In the United States, cigarette smoking and exposure to tobacco smoke accounts for roughly one in five, or at at least 443,000 premature deaths annually. To put this into context, in the US alone, tobacco kills the equivalent of three jumbo jets full of people crashing every day, with no survivors. On a worldwide basis, this equates to a single jumbo jet every hour. Cancer The primary risks of tobacco usage include many forms of cancer, particularly lung cancer, kidney cancer, cancer of the larynx and head and neck, breast cancer, bladder cancer, cancer of the esophagus, cancer of the pancreas and stomach cancer...

What's that smell?

00:31
It's not! Even after chewing gum, mints, or brushing, the cigarette smoke from your lungs is still breeding bacteria in your mouth and causing bad breath. See, tobacco smoke stays in the lungs. And as a smoker breathes throughout the day, smoke particles get re-deposited in the mouth. Those particles dry out a person's mouth, creating a breeding ground for bacteria, which is a major cause of bad breath. What do you believe? Let us know and you could win.

Imagine Dragons - Nothing Left To Say (Lyrics)

06:36
Nothing Left To Say from Night Visions by Imagine Dragons (I edited out "Rocks"). Who knows how long I've been awake now? The shadows on my wall don't sleep They keep calling me Beckoning, beckoning Who knows what's right? The lines keep getting thinner My age has never made me wise But I keep pushing on and on and on and on There's nothing left to say now There's nothing left to say now I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now There's nothing left to say now There's nothing left to say now I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now Below my soul I feel an engine Collapsing as it sees the pain If I could only shut it out I've come too far To see the end now Even if my way is wrong I keep pushing on and on and on and on There's nothing left to say now There's nothing left to say now I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now There's nothing left to say now There's nothing left to say now I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now I keep falling, I keep falling down I keep falling, I keep falling down I keep falling, I keep falling down I keep falling, I keep falling down If you could only save me I'm drowning in the waters of my soul There's nothing left to say now There's nothing left to say now I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now There's nothing left to say now There's nothing left to say now I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now I'm giving up, giving up, hey hey, giving up now

A glimpse of what you get out of smoking. by Marella Inah L. Soriano

03:42
Good day! This topic is about smoking. The speech is a glimpse of what you get out of smoking. "Smoking is dangerous to our health". You may think smoking will help you relax or make you look cool. What it actually will do is make it harder for you to exercise and mess up your health. Even if you know all that, though, it can be hard to say "no" to cigarettes. There is no need of risking your life for one little cigarette. The whole idea of people letting smoke and endangering their health is foolish and cannot be supported by any evidence. Smoking should be stopped because it wastes a lot of money, and is very addictive. Smoking is not right and we should all quit before we get a bad habit of it. Smoking has a big effect on our environment and on public places it should be taken seriously. Cigarettes are made with extremely harmful substances, such as pesticides, carbon monoxide, and nicotine. If the ingredients inside cigarette are burned they are even more deadly and harmful. Some ingredients in a "puff" include: acetone, and ammonia. More than 40 chemicals in tobacco cause heart disease, lung diseases, and cancer. Smoking is harmful to our body; Smoking has become a problem; the number of Users of cigarettes is not decreasing. Also, Smoking causes more deaths than alcohol. A powerful ingredient called nicotine causes most of it. Even though smokers who want to quit can't quit, because of the addiction nicotine causes. However it is possible to avoid it in groups. If you continue to consume tobacco you will lose, a healthy heart, healthy lungs and healthy body. Smoking causes a lot of harmful things inside and outside your body. Some affects are: irregular heartbeat, it's harder to pump up blood. It is a major cause of cancers like mouth cancer, lung cancer, throat cancer, and cancer of the esophagus. It can also cause cancers of the kidney, bladder, and pancreas. Smoking can cause serious problems like: addiction, stomach ulcers, brittle bones, eye problems, sleep problem, tooth and gum problem. To conclude, smoking should be banned from all public places because it endangers other people health and creates a harmful environment. It can be seen from the evidence I have given, it is foolish to allow people smoke in public places and it should be outlawed. Moreover, the study is another example of the negative nutritional implications of smoking. Let's stop smoking. Let's have better life. Enjoy life. Enjoy healthy body.

Smoking - How does smoking effect my skin? | ZMD Skin Care

We all know smoking is bad for you, but it's really bad for your skin. It ages your skin prematurely and causes wrinkles around your eyes and around your mouth and those lines are deep. Smoking can actually change the color of your skin and give it a yellowish hue to your skin. I know it's hard to quit but it will be great for your skin and you will be thankful for it in the end. Quit Smoking Tips: How to Quit Smoking Cigarettes

00:39
http://instantpaydaynetwork.com/freddiboy What happens when tobacco burns the nicotine enters the body? Well the lungs absorb the nicotine and this in turn easily passes into the bloodstream. Nicotine, the substance that causes the addiction itself is however not the only substance that cigarettes contain. Besides tar like substances and other known carcinogens, cigarettes are known to contain over 4000 other chemicals, the effects of many of which are not fully understood. The toxicity is most destructive component that a smoker absorbs along with addictive doses of nicotine. All these substances make smoking the addiction and destruction it is. Smoking produces effects that only worsen over time because continuous smoking overrides the body's ability to rid itself of the toxins. As a result there is toxin accumulation in the heart, lungs and blood vessels besides other secondary toxin deposits in other organs. It is well known today that smoking is directly responsible for cancer of lungs. Besides lung cancer, smoking also causes cancers of other organs which come in contact with the smoke directly like mouth, throat, esophagus and the airways (Bronchi). Other organs which can be affected include stomach, pancreas, urinary bladder and even kidneys which are essential in keeping toxicity levels to a minimum in the body.

How Much Does Snoop Dogg Smoke A Day?

03:15
"So Snoop Dogg, as Snoop Lion, held a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" session Wednesday afternoon and in contrast to recent chats with Trent Reznor and Das Racist's Heems, the conversation didn't span the range of the artist's illustrious career, venture into broader social topics, or even stir up some controversy. Instead — and we admit our brazen foolishness in expecting anything else — the fan-run Q&A focused on one, ahem, heady subject to the exclusion of most others. You guessed it: weed. When the peanut gallery did stretch out into other territory, the queries were often still couched within a marijuana haze, and in the rare instances that they asked about the music, Snoop almost invariably directed them to the lyric video to his new Major Lazer-produced single, "Here Comes the King."* Snoop Dogg/ Snopp Lion took to Reddit to answer questions from his fans, including his thoughts on pot legalization and that he smokes 81 blunts a day. How is this possibly true, and if it is, is this a watermark on how safe marijuana is? Ana Kasparian and Kim Horcher (Host, Nerd Alert) discuss. *Read more from Chris Martins/ Spin: http://www.spin.com/articles/snoop-dogg-lion-reddit-ama-weed-smoke Support The Young Turks by Subscribing http://bit.ly/TYTonYouTube Support The Young Turks by Shopping http://bit.ly/XhuNqO Like Us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/theyoungturks Follow Us on Twitter: http://bit.ly/OkX87X Buy TYT Merch: http://theyoungturks.spreadshirt.com/

_______________________________ In the story of a young man walking down the street with a cigarette in his mouth, then suddenly on the same teeth and receives. The emphasis is on attacking depersonalization - a man beaten by someone unseen, on the idea that the creators Dr Foster symbolizes the most "invisible damage from smoking." Movie ends with the words "Smoking letting a beat. Let deposit. Quit. " organization: the British National Health Service

2012 - Daily Use of Hydrogen Peroxide for Your Health

08:34
I have been taking Hydrogen Peroxide for over 5 years. In that time, I have only been what I would call "sick" one time, for a day, and I think that was only because I had slacked off taking my daily doses. The first day I ever took it, I was at home with flu symptoms, and was reading a book on natural cures. When I read about H2O2, and everything it has been used to treat over the years, I figured wtf, I had some and I'd try it. All I had was the drug store variety 3.5%. I took a half teaspoon every two hours. By the 4th dose, I didn't even feel like I'd been sick. Needless to say, I immediately started researching online. We should really only use Food Grade H2O2, as the drug store variety has stabilizers in it for a longer shelf life. Food Grade comes in 35% strength, here in the US. 35% can cause chemical burns on the skin and should not be used unless diluted. With grandchildren around, I dilute it down to 3.5% solution with distilled water. I take about a quarter teaspoon of H202 at least twice a day (mix it with a drink) an hour before or two hours after a meal. I also keep it in little spray bottles and inhale the spray mist several times a day. Two and a half years ago, I had chest x-rays done and, after smoking(inhaling) cigars for over 20 years, my lungs looked like those of a non-smoker and, on breathing tests, my lung capacity was in the range of high performance athletes. I brush my teeth with peroxide and baking soda, use it as a topical rinse, spray fresh fruits and vegetables with it. A few drops in the ears at the first sign of a cold, or cold-like symptoms, helps too... don't know why but, it works... For dosage and dilution instructions, follow the link below: The Many Benefits of Hydrogen Peroxide By Dr. David G. Williams http://www.educate-yourself.org/cancer/benefitsofhydrogenperozide17jul03.shtml Here's a link for a trusted source to order online in the US: http://www.purelivingperoxide.com/ Disclaimer: I am NOT a doctor and I am NOT giving medical advice. My comments are merely based on my own experience or my interpretation of information acquired through personal research. I don't ask anyone to believe me - or anyone else for that matter - as everyone should make informed decisions about their health and everything that affects it - based on their OWN research.
