CrossFit - "The Foundation Is Nutrition"

05:15
Combining the CrossFit training methodology with a diet of meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar brings "a jet stream of adaptation," says CrossFit founder Greg Glassman. In the pyramid Glassman created, nutrition is the foundation, with met-cons, gymnastics, weightlifting and throwing, and sport following. "Each level builds on the level below it," explains Nicole Carroll, director of certification. "If your nutrition sucks, these things will not be where they could be if it were more solid." Likewise, Glassman says CrossFit favors Barry Sears' Zone Diet "because it does give me accurate and precise prescription for caloric intake and, more importantly, the exact levels of macronutrient that I can start at." Likewise, trainers and coaches can make informed decisions on how to tweak an athlete's diet for improved performance, he says. CrossFit HQ trainer Pat Sherwood says nutrition isn't an either/or aspect of training. "It's not quality or quantity. It can and it should be both." 5min 14sec

Building A Retaining Ring For Your Fruit Tree

11:18
I put in three new rings for my fruit trees as part of my Better Backyard Project. This is the first time I've done a project like this, so I learned quite a few lessons along the way. In this episode, I'll walk you through how I put together the last ring. Despite a few hiccups along the way, it turned out well and I'm really pleased with the result. I hope that by watching this video you'll have the confidence to go for it with a project like this one. Believe me, if I can do this, you can too.

If Man Obeyed God

06:46
Please consider supporting my work through Patreon here: http://www.patreon.com/DarkMatter2525 What if original sin had never occurred? I think you'll find that the fantasy concept known as "sin" is actually quite integral to our physical structure and success as a species. So, whether you take Genesis literally or not - if you believe we were designed by God - who is truly to blame for our "nature"? After Pat Robertson explained that the earth is more than 6000 years old, using dinosaur bones as evidence, Ian Juby responded by explaining how that can't be true because death didn't exist before Adam. "So, Mr. Robertson, was there death before Adam or not? Is the bible true or not? Jesus was supposed to bear the consequences of our sins, which is why he died on the cross; it was a consequence of sin. You have just nullified the reason for Christ's death." ~ Ian Juby This exchange occurs at 8:20 in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URP2WJ6st-E The premise of this video was suggested to me by DaithiDublin and his wonderful video: "Re-Imagining Paradise (Poem)" Check it out and send him my best! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82RDXjIcysg This topic was also addressed beautifully by the great NonStampCollector in these two videos: Genesis (take #1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY6Dn0_hBOY Genesis (take #2) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MsZxZPtpjE Royalty-free music used in this video (in order of appearance): "Neophyt - The Day You Left" by Tunguska Electronic Music Society http://www.jamendo.com/en/track/302167 "Eugene Kush - MMOWM (part 1)" by Tunguska Electronic Music Society http://www.jamendo.com/en/track/948380 "Big Band" by RubySeb http://www.jamendo.com/en/track/163770 "Beast Appears" by Alexandr Bulgarov http://www.jamendo.com/en/track/786070 "Demain je change de vie - INSTRUMENTAL VERSION" by Löhstana David http://www.jamendo.com/en/track/785423 Sound effects: Audio file(s) provided by http://www.audiomicro.com

In addition to teaching, she tests patterns for the Threads magazine Pattern Review column along with many other talented sewists, has published several articles with Threads magazine, and was a guest on DIY's show Sew Much More, hosted by Susan Khalje. Pam enjoys helping sewists take their garment construction skills to a higher level, and loves the possibility of what a piece of fabric can become!

CMU Coffee Plantation Chiang Mai 0.1.mp4

04:29
How to get there. From the Chiang Mai University entrance head west on Huey Kaew road (road #1004) it's 27 kilometers of paved road and 100 meters of good dirt road. You will pass the Chiang Mai Zoo, Wat Plahad, Doi Suthep and Phuping Royal Palace before the road becomes narrow. At the first intersection beyond the Phuping Palace you want to turn right up the hill. See note 1. This newly paved 3 meters wide road curves through old growth forest. Drive slowly and use your horn as the signs request. There is not enough room for cars to pass each other without some maneuvering from here on. The last 3 or 4 kilometers are downhill on partially moss covered often wet older paved roads also used by mountain bikers. Be Careful! Just drive slow and stop only on turnouts to check out the huge trees and mountain valley views. I ride a motorcycle to get there and find it perfect, when it rains I stop and open up my umbrella. Many people ride bicycles down all the way from the hill top beyond Phuping Palace to Huey Tung Tao with a stop at the coffee plantation. see Note 2. There is coffee and Macadamia nuts grown on the plantation for sale and cup of soup to eat. There is a clean basic toilet block to the right and down the steps. Walk around in the often cool and foggy plantation and gardens. The roads and facilities are not suitable for buses. Large groups should contact The Agriculture Department at CMU before going. Note 1 The fork to the left goes to a nice Hmong Village for lunch, looking around and shopping. There are gardens, stone grinding wheels, a water driven rice pounder and many crafts being made. There is a nice new coffee shop on the road in that offers stunning views, great coffee and clean toilets. Note 2 Many companies in Chiang Mai offer these Mountain Bike tours everyday. Ground transportation proper equipment and a guide are essential to enjoying the ride down hill beyond the Hmong Village just beyond the coffee plantation. There is often no telephone signal up here and lots of roads without signs.

Urban Agroecoloy: 6,000 lbs of food on 1/10th acre - Urban Homestead - Urban Permaculture

08:39
Go to https://FoodAbundance.com to join the Food Abundance movement. Over 6,000 pounds of food per year, on 1/10 acre located just 15 minutes from downtown Los Angeles. The Dervaes family grows over 400 species of plants, 4,300 pounds of vegetable food, 900 chicken and 1,000 duck eggs, 25 lbs of honey, plus seasonal fruits throughout the year. From 1/10th of an acre, four people manage to get over 90% of their daily food and the family reports earnings of $20,000 per year (AFTER they eat from what is produced). This is done without the use of the expensive & destructive synthetic chemicals associated with industrial mono-cropping, while simultaneously improving the fertility and overall condition of the land being used to grow this food on. Scaled up to an acre, that would equal $200,000 per year! To follow the Dervaes and their Urban Homesteading activites, you can find them at http://urbanhomestead.org Urban and near-urban farming can be highly productive, causing whatever size of land you have to work with to produce with more abundance. It is time to solve hunger worldwide, through creating local food abundance.... Anyone can do it, once you learn how. To join the Food Abundance movement, go to https://FoodAbundance.com
