Drug Dealing Legalized; They're Called Pharmaceutical Companies

06:38
"Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway criticized the Food and Drug Administration's cozy relationship with pharmaceutical companies, saying that the agency has at times allowed its drug approval process to be "hijacked." Conway's comments came during a Wednesday HuffPost Live interview, during which he was asked whether the FDA is too close to the drug companies it regulates. "Sometimes they are," he said. "Sometimes their approval process gets hijacked.""* The Young Turks hosts Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down. *Read more here from Zach Carter / The Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/05/fda-zohydro_n_4907044.html ********** The Largest Online News Show in the World. Over the Counter Medicines - What You Need To Know

01:41
See much more honest health information at: http://www.rehealthify.com/ Rehealthify offers reliable, up-to-date health information, anytime, anywhere, for free. -- video script below -- Over-the-counter (OTC) medicines are drugs you can buy without a prescription. Some OTC medicines relieve aches, pains and itches. Some prevent or cure diseases, like tooth decay and athlete's foot. Others help manage recurring problems, like migraines. In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration decides whether a medicine is safe enough to sell over-the-counter. Taking OTC medicines still has risks. Some interact with other medicines, supplements, foods or drinks. Others cause problems for people with certain medical conditions. If you're pregnant, talk to your health care provider before taking any medicines. It is important to take medicines correctly, and be careful when giving them to children. More medicine does not necessarily mean better. You should never take OTC medicines longer or in higher doses than the label recommends. If your symptoms don't go away, it's a clear signal that it's time to see your healthcare provider. Food and Drug Administration

Pharmaceutical Industry Raise Prices on Antibiotics for Lyme Disease

03:39
Steemit Blog - https://steemit.com/@covertchronicle The corrupt pharmaceutical industry raises prices on antibiotics for Lyme Disease patients and animals. With over 300,000 people infected each year, you can bet the statistics are almost double or triple for animals as well. Doxycycline cost Billings Animal Hospital $25 dollars in LaGrangeville New York, now that same antibiotic costs the practice $406 dollars. 100 milligram pills have soared 6,351 percent, while the 50 milligram capsules rose by 2,138 percent! Pharmaceutical companies blame shortages, however the FDA claims there is no shortage. I think it's plainly evident the pharmaceutical industry is capitalizing on the increase of infected Lyme patients. Should big pharma being regulated?

Pharmaceutical Fraud, Crime and Murder 2 of 4

08:11
The BIG question is where is the FDA who is supposed to protect us from Pharmaceutical Fraud, Crime and Murder? Could BIG PHARMA do their own drug testing and publish the data and then temper with the data if the FDA did this as they are supposed to in order to protect us? Pharmaceutical companies first gained control of the teaching system for conventional doctors or those who accepted drugs, surgery and radiation. Then it gave the AMA the power to exclude all other doctors from practising. Then it took control over the entire drug testing process while heavily influencing the publications that review those drugs. Up to 1980 most medical research was funded by the National Institute of Health. After 1980 for profit organizations gave complete control of research to drug companies. Then it extended its control over the government entity that is supposed to verify the drug’s safety and efficacy or the FDA. It now has complete control. The pharmaceuticals called big pharma are the wealthiest companies in the world. The pharmaceutical industry does not create cures they create customers. What boggles the mind is how and why they continue to keep and make new customers with such EXTREMELY POOR RESULTS???? Conventional Doctors Are The Number 1 Cause Of Deaths In The U.S. Death due to Conventional Medical Therapies in the U.S. 784,000 a year. Number Of Unnecessary Medical Procedures Performed In U.S. 7.5 Million a year. Unnecessary Hospitalizations Each Year In U.S. 8.9 Million. 2 Million Patients Die In Hospitals Each Year Of Hospital Acquired Infections. 2.2 Million Cases Of Adverse Reactions To Prescription Medications. The Drug Statin Increases The Risk Of Diabetes By 48%. The Drug Avandia Has Killed Over 200,000 People From Heart Attacks Since It Was Introduced – Both Continue To Be Prescribed. Prescription Drugs 200 BILLION. Healthcare And Prescription Drugs 2 TRILLION. Heart Disease 700,000 deaths a year. Cancer 550,000 deaths a year. Stroke 150,000 deaths a year. The numbers are much the same for the rest of the world. Our Current Healthcare System is Flawed and has FAILED Unless you are in a serious accident, your best chance of living to a ripe old age is to avoid conventional doctors and hospitals, and learn nutrition, herbal medicine and other forms of natural medicine and go to naturopaths, functional medicine practitioners and nutritionists. We now face a new threat the CODEX ALIMENTARIUS the WTO, NAFTA, and now CAFTA.

Economy of Denmark

31:11
Denmark has a diverse, mixed economy, but one that relies almost entirely on human resources, as there are few mineral resources available, except mature oil and gas wells in the North Sea. Cooperatives form a large part of some sectors, be it in housing, agriculture or retail. Foundations play a large role as owners of private sector companies. Denmark's nominal GDP was estimated to be $333,238 million, the 32nd largest in the world. It has the world's lowest level of income inequality, according to the World Bank Gini (%), and the world's highest minimum wage, according to the IMF. As of June 2010 the unemployment rate is at 7.4%, which is below the EU average of 9.6%. As of 28 February 2014 Denmark is among the countries with the highest credit rating. Denmark's main exports are: industrial production/manufactured goods 73.3% (of which machinery and instruments were 21.4%, and fuels, chemicals, etc. 26%); agricultural products and others for consumption 18.7% (in 2009 meat and meat products were 5.5% of total export; fish and fish products 2.9%). Denmark is a net exporter of food and energy and has since the 1990s had a balance of payments surplus. The accumulated value of service and merchandise exports in 2013 amounted to 54% of GDP, and imports in 2013 amounted to 49% of GDP. Notable among the service exports are container shipping. There is no net foreign debt as other countries owe more money to Denmark than Denmark owes to them, but because of large deficits due to increased unemployment levels the central government has increased its debt level since the end of September 2008, when it stood at 21 percent (gross debt) of GDP, according to the central bank - in accordance with the Eurostat EMU- gross debt numbers, which only take liabilities into account. (See below (Budgets)). Taking assets into account as well net debt of the central government was 11 percent. The public sector as a whole had net assets of 108 billion kroner in 2008. Within the European Union, Denmark advocates a liberal trade policy. Its standard of living is average among the Western European countries - and for many years the most equally distributed as shown by the Gini coefficient - in the world, and the Danes devote 0.8% of gross national income (GNI) to foreign aid. It is a society based on consensus (dialogue and compromise) with the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions and the Confederation of Danish Employers in 1899 in Septemberforliget (The September Settlement) recognising each other's right to organise, thus, negotiate. The employer's right to hire and fire their employees whenever they find it necessary is recognised. There is no official minimum wage (Danish: minimumsløn) set by the government; the minimum of wages (Danish: mindsteløn) is determined by negotiations between the organisations of employers and employees. Denmark produces oil, natural gas, wind- and bio-energy. Its principal exports are machinery, instruments and food products. The US is Denmark's largest non-European trading partner, accounting for around 5% of total Danish merchandise trade. Aircraft, computers, machinery, and instruments are among the major US exports to Denmark. Among major Danish exports to the U.S. are industrial machinery, chemical products, furniture, pharmaceuticals, Lego and canned ham and pork. This video is targeted to blind users. Type 2 Diabetes Drug Market 2022

00:48
Complete report is available @ http://www.rnrmarketresearch.com/pharmapoint-type-2-diabetes-global-drug-forecast-and-market-analysis-to-2022-event-driven-update-market-report.html . This report focuses on type 2 diabetes pharmaceuticals in seven major markets (US, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK, and Japan) and three emerging markets (China, India and Brazil). These 10 markets will be referred to as the global market. The global type 2 diabetes pharmaceutical market in the 2012 base year was $28.1 billion, including both branded and generic drugs. Branded products alone accounted for $19.2 billion across the 10 markets. At 58% of the overall type 2 diabetes market, the US is clearly the dominant market, totaling $16.4 billion in branded and generic pharmaceutical sales. This is due to the much higher prices of pharmaceuticals in this country and due to the high diagnosed prevalence. The next-largest individual market is Japan, at 9% of the worldwide type 2 diabetes market, totaling $2.5 billion. The 5EU countries make up 18%, while emerging markets, including India, China and Brazil together, account for 15% of the total market. Over the forecast period, emerging markets will grow in size most rapidly, due to a dramatic increase in the prevalence and diagnosis of type 2 diabetes, which are attributed to increased life expectancy and lifestyle changes that have occurred through rapid economic growth. Uptake of branded drugs will also increase in these markets due to fast growth of the middle class. Sales in the US will grow by about 9% per year over the forecast period. The European and Japanese markets will also increase steadily; however, cost constraints in Europe and the slow regulatory process in Japan will slightly limit growth in these regions.

CORPORATE RIP OFF= $74 BILLION Profits &Tax Refunds¬!

01:19
EXPOSED:ACTS of CORPORATE TREACHERY STEALS Billions of dollars from the American people. 1. Selling Medication For Up To 100 Times More Than It’s Worth Pharmaceutical companies reap billions of dollars in subsidies for research and development, but they’ve successfullylobbied Congress to keep Medicare from bargaining for lower drug prices. An extreme example is Gilead Sciences, the manufacturer of the drug Sovaldi, which charges about $10 a pill to its customers in Egypt, then comes home to charge $1,000 a pill to its American customers. Other outrageous examples are noted by Ralph Nader. As a further insult, Americans are cheated when corporations pay off generic drug manufacturers to delay entry of their products into the market, thereby forcing consumers to pay the highest prices for medicine. 2. Paying Their Employees With Our Tax Money Walmart made $19 billion in U.S. profits last year, and the four Walton siblings together made about $29 billion from their personal investments. That’s about $33,000 per U.S. employee in profits and family stock gains. Yet they pay their 1.4 million American employees so little that the average Walmart worker depends on about $4,000 per year in taxpayer assistance, for food stamps and other safety net programs. 3. Giving Money to Executives Rather Than Investing in the Future Corporations are spending trillions of dollars on stock buybacks, which use potential research and development money topump up the prices of executive stock options. Apple alone is spending $90 billion to repurchase its own stock through 2015. Walmart doesn’t provide a living wage for its workers, but its company management spent $7.6 billion, or about $5,000 per U.S. employee, on stock buybacks, in order to further boost the value of their stock holdings. The buyback surge is dramatic. In 1981, major corporations were spending less than 3 percent of their combined net income on buybacks, but by 2008-9 they were spending 75 percent of their profits on this greed-driven process. 4. Making Money on Dirty Air and Water Charles Koch once said, “I want my legacy to be…a better way of life for…all Americans.” Koch Industries dumps more pollutants into rivers and streams than General Electric and International Paper combined. One of Koch’s products is petcoke, which Rolling Stone notes is “denser, dirtier and cheaper than coal.” Too toxic to burn in U.S. coal plants, it’s sold instead to countries with weaker environmental regulations, like Mexico and China. But storage facilities are needed. So the besieged city of Detroit became the dumping ground for a three-story pile ofpetroleum coke covering an entire city block near the Detroit River. The mound of toxic matter spewed thick black “fugitive dust” over the homes of nearby residents. The ugliness was later repeated in Chicago. 5. Making the Highest Profit Margin in the Corporate World — And Demanding a Tax Cut The trading volume on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) reached $1 quadrillion in notional value last year. That’s a thousand trillion dollars, about ten times greater than the world economy. With the collection of transfer fees, contract fees, brokerage fees, Globex fees, clearing fees, and surcharges, the company achieved a profit margin (54%) higher than any of the top 100 companies in the nation from 2008 to 2010, and in the past three years it’s risen to nearly 60%. Despite being the most profitable big firm, CME complained that its taxes were too high, and they demanded and received an $85 million tax break from the State of Illinois. 6. Skipping Out on the Country that Made Their Business Possible Walgreens (which later backed down), Burger King, and Medtronic are the biggest names in the so-called inversions that allow companies to desert the country that made them successful. They don’t want to pay for decades of publicly funded research in technology and medicine; a legal system that protects patents and intellectual property; infrastructure, including roads and seaports and airports to ship their products; unprecedented amounts of local and national security, and a nationwide energy grid to power factories. 7. Group Ripoff: $74 Billion in Profits…and a Tax Refund It seems incomprehensible that Boeing, Ford, Chevron, Citigroup, Verizon, JP Morgan, and General Motors, with a combined income last year of $74 billion, would pay no taxes, and in fact receive a combined refund of nearly $2 billion. The data comes from a new study called Fleecing Uncle Sam, which goes on to note that the unpaid taxes of almost $26 billion could pay for Pre-K education for every 4-year old in America. Is there an answer to all this? Only if we victims work together toward the singular goal of stemming corporate power, especially in the financial industry. To do this, as Les Leopold says, “we will need something like an Occupy 2.0.”
US executes 3 in just 24 hours

02:11
3 executions in 24 hours. Georgia and Missouri executed prisoners around an hour apart late Tuesday and early Wednesday and another inmate was lethally injected in Florida shortly after. A botched execution seven weeks ago in Oklahoma sparked a national debate about the secretive ways many states obtain lethal injection drugs from loosely regulated pharmacies. The recent executions however show that some states, notably in the south seem unfazed by the concerns. On April 29th Oklahoma prison officials had to halt a process because drugs weren't being administered properly into the veins of inmate Clayton Lockett. He died of a heart attack 43 minutes after the process began. Lawyers and advocates cite concern that what happened in Oklahoma could be repeated, although there were no glitches reported in the recent executions. In 2011, 13 states carried out capital punishment. In 1999, 20 states carried out 98 executions, a modern high. However the numbers aren't always accurate, since in some states courts allow executions to go forward behind closed doors, despite problems with the drugs. In recent years, as pharmaceutical companies have halted sales of drugs used in executions, states have found themselves obtaining drugs through unregulated dealers, making them more like a street level drug deals.

OxyContin - Time Bomb - the fifth estate

42:26
It was touted as a miracle pill: a narcotic pain reliever that could change the lives of people suffering from chronic pain, but with little -- so its maker claimed, and thousands of doctors believed -- risk of addiction. Since OxyContin was introduced in 1996, Canada has recorded the second-highest number of prescription opioid painkiller addictions -- and the world's second-highest death rate from overdoses. "It's helping your pain, but then you get immune to it, so then you go to the family doctor and he says 'Well, you're gonna need more,'" a woman who became addicted to OxyContin tells the fifth estate's Linden MacIntyre. "So he puts you on the 40 milligram (dose) and you're on that for a month, and then you get used to that dose and he puts you on the 80s." But how did a little pill that only appeared in 1996 become so big, so fast? In 1998, Canadian sales were just a few million dollars. Twelve years later they had soared to $243 million. In the U.S., sales were $3.5 billion in 2010. Though there were differences in corporate style and legal structure between Purdue in the U.S and in Canada, a similar marketing approach proved wildly successful. the fifth estate examines why medical schools, GPs and specialists in pain clinics readily embraced the drug at first, and why some have now changed their minds. OxyContin was dropped from provincial health plans in Ontario, Saskatchewan and Atlantic Canada. The manufacturer has now stopped making it altogether, replacing it with a new formulation known as OxyNeo. But is it too little, too late? Did the drug's maker low-ball the risks? Did they know their time-release miracle pill was really a time bomb of addiction, waiting to go off? 08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills

12:25
08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills 1. "Tell me a little about yourself." You should take this opportunity to show your communication skills by speaking clearly and concisely in an organized manner. Because there is no right or wrong answer for this question, it is important to appear friendly. 2. "What are your strengths?" This is a popular interview question. They want to know what you think of yourself. Although this is a general question, there is a wrong and right answer. The wrong answer is a generic answer saying you are organized and friendly. Although it will not hurt you during the interview, it will certainly not help you either. Answer this question based on the type of job you are applying for. 3. "What are your weaknesses?" For this answer, you should display a weakness that can be seen as a strength. There are many types of answers that will work. Some answers will be good answers for certain jobs, while the same answer will be a bad answer for a different job. Select an answer that will work for the position you are applying for. 4. "Where do you see yourself in five years?" This question primarily depends on where you are in your career. A person with 5 years of experience will have different goals than a person with no work experience. This question is asked to see how serious a candidate is about his or her career. Some people might not know their goals, and some people might have goals of becoming rich and retiring early. Those are incorrect answers for this question. The type of answer you want to give is an ambitious answer that shows you really love your career. A good interviewer will read between the lines and find out if a person is going to be a hard worker or just a mediocre one. Being descriptive and shooting for a big goal is something interviewers want to hear. 5. "What do you know about our company?" A typical job interview question, asked to find out how much company research you have conducted, is "What do you know about this company?" Prepare in advance, and in a word, research, so you can provide relevant and current information about your prospective employer to the interviewer. 6. "Are you good at dealing with change?" Dealing with change is common in the work place. A simple yes will not be sufficient to impress the interviewer. This is another type of question where everyone will have similar answers. Of course everyone is going to claim being excellent dealing with change. You got to communicate that you are really good at dealing with change. 7. "Do you work well under pressure?" In most cases, the best answer to this question is answering yes. Working well under pressure is a good trait to have. However, I think if you answer that you work the same with pressure and without pressure, the interviewer will be more impressed. However, you will need to explain in words why this is better. 8. "How do you make important decisions?" There are many ways to answer this question, and if you have a reasonable method of making decisions, it will probably be sufficient. One answer I thought of included not being afraid of asking your manager. You can follow up by saying even the best needs mentoring, and you always want to improve. So basically, this could work as an answer, but depending on the job, you might have a better shot with an answer like my example.

Forecasting Techniques and Methods in Sales, Finance -1

19:25
For details, visit: http://www.financewalk.com Forecasting Techniques and Methods in Sales, Finance -1 Forecasting Techniques Reading this chapter would enable you to understand • The Importance of Forecasting in Valuation • Different Forecasting methods • Steps in Forecasting Steps in Forecasting • Forecasting of cash flows requires deep understanding of economy, market and business • Forecasting of each variable gives us understanding and linkages of variables like Sales, expenses, capital expenditure, depreciation, operating margin. • Before going for valuing the company, the analyst should forecast company's cash flows and other financial aspects. 1. Build the revenue forecast. This should be based on volume growth and price changes. 2. Forecast operational items, such as operating costs, working capital, property, plant, and equipment, by linking them to revenues or volume. 3. Project non-operating items, such as investments in unconsolidated subsidiaries and related income as well as interest expense and interest income. 4. Project the equity accounts. Equity should equal last year's equity plus net income and new share issues less dividends and share repurchases. 5. Use the cash and-or debt accounts to balance the cash flows and balance sheet. SALES - REVENUE GROWTH: Instead of just assuming a 10% growth rate, base your assumptions on the following: • Historical trends (calculate CAGR, historical growth rates, average of historical growth rates, i.e. last 3-5 years) • Specific growth initiatives (why use 15% growth if never grew past 10%? Unless specific growth plans) • Industry growth and trends • Strategic analysis • It is not uncommon to have declining growth rates (still growth, but at a slower pace) in the projection period as one cannot grow at 15% or 20% forever. • Since we know that the past is a RELEVANT indicator of the future, the more number of historical years in your analysis the better when justifying your projection inputs. • Sensitize your projections for "Base Case" or "Mgmt Case", "Optimistic" or "Aggressive" and "Pessimistic" or "Downside" cases!

Day of Reason? - Big Pharma and Doctors

04:05
Gov. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island has declared May 1 as a "Day of Reason" in his state. The secular celebration is being held on the same day as the National Day of Prayer. Atheists and secularists oppose a national day of prayer, saying it's part of a "persistent threat" to the separation of church and state. They think a "Day of Reason" will help them fight back. The Humanists of Rhode Island and the Secular Coalition for Rhode Island requested the event. Chafee's proclamation says reason has "proven to offer hope for human survival upon Earth by cultivating intelligent, moral, and ethical interaction among people." Meanwhile, millions of Christians are expected to participate in the National Day of Prayer. Big Pharma and Doctors A long standing trade secret of the pharmaceutical industry has recently been disclosed. Standard operating procedure for how pharmaceuticals get trialed, tested, promoted, and disseminated was kept quiet by the industry for many years until legal settlements forced disclosure of the information, in some cases, last year. Now, information regarding promotional spending payments made to doctors and other professionals of the medical establishment for promoting their drugs has become somewhat available, if you know what to ask and where to look. Last year, $761.3 million in disclosed payments from 12 companies was paid to doctors in the United States, according to ProPublica.org, $59.5 million of it to doctors in Texas. That tops the list, along with Florida, California, and New York. Look up your state: (http://projects.propublica.org/docdollars/). That's just disclosed payments. Think of all the undisclosed payments as well as other side benefits and perks, such as luxury vacations or comped equipment. According to the disclosure documents, the payments were for consulting, speaking, research, and expenses. But think of the possibilities - fast track drug approvals, circumvent FDA rules, the possibilities are endless. No wonder it's a secret. It also offers insights into your state's politics as well as things like insurance laws. http://www.naturalnews.com/042359_bribery_doctors_texas.html#ixzz30CgFu7bQ #1. According to the CDC, the percentage of Americans that say that they have taken a prescription drug within the last month has risen to almost 50 percent. #2. The percentage of Americans that say that they have taken two or more prescription drugs within the last month has risen to 31 percent, and the percentage of Americans that say that they have taken five or more prescription drugs within the last month has risen to 11 percent. #3. If you can believe it, the CDC also says that approximately 9 out of every 10 Americans that are at least 60 years of age say that they have taken at least one prescription drug within the last month. #4. According to the Wall Street Journal, more than 25 percent of all kids and teens in the United States take prescription drugs on a regular basis. #5. One brand new study has found that more than 20 percent of all American adults are taking at least one drug for "psychiatric" or "behavioral" disorders. #6. A recent Government Accountability Office report shockingly discovered that approximately one-third of all foster children in the United States are on at least one psychiatric drug. In fact, the report found that many states seem to be doping up foster children as a matter of course. Just check out these stunning statistics.... In Texas, foster children were 53 times more likely to be prescribed five or more psychiatric medications at the same time than non-foster children. In Massachusetts, they were 19 times more likely. In Michigan, the number was 15 times. It was 13 times in Oregon. And in Florida, foster children were nearly four times as likely to be given five or more psychotropic medications at the same time compared to non-foster children. more at http://www.endalldisease.com/18-crazy-facts-which-show-that-no-nation-on-earth-is-more-doped-up-on-prescription-drugs-than-america/
Big Pharma Seeks Ebola Vaccine Indemnity

02:39
The new quarterly earnings reports are out for mega drug companies like Merck, Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline. As expected, the numbers look good. Good for investors, good for executives and good for big pharma as a whole. One of the biggest infusions of cash in recent months comes from Wall Street investors betting on an Ebola vaccine. The US government is already ordered a patents and started performing Human trials for an Ebola vaccine in West Africa. When that news broke, the stock market spiked. Increases across the board for big pharma companies. One reason these companies have been free to rake in millions of dollars hand over fist is because they have craftily dodged expensive lawsuits. You see, big pharma companies have a special protection from the Federal government that shields them from any liability with vaccines. And now, these same companies are already lining up to tell lawmakers, they need similar indemnification before they put out an Ebola vaccine. Essentially, corporate executives at billion dollar corporations are asking lawmakers to release them of any culpability before they release a product that will make them ridiculously wealthy. Glaxo’s CEO, Andrew Witty says an Ebola vaccine protection law is reasonable, because this is an ‘emergency situation.’ But in recent Wall Street Journal polls, greater than 60 percent of voters believe these drug makers should be held accountable by lawmakers. And they might be on to something. While CEOs complain they are being asked to produce a drug in 5 or 6 months that would normally take 5 or 6 years, that excuse isn’t exactly valid. Ebola has actually been a threat to the world’s health since the 1970s. And exactly 5 years ago, the US Department of Defense published their own study on the Ebola virus. So Ebola hasn’t been a secret. There has been plenty of time to develop a vaccine. It just wasn’t guaranteed to produce an immediate profit for the companies, because there wasn’t a demand. Doctors aren’t exempt from malpractice lawsuits. Drug makers aren’t exempt from liability in most regular drug cases, even wrapped in three-paragraph long warning labels. And yet, these executives want to capitalize on the fears and misfortune of people around the world, without any potential for negative backlash or consequence. We expected big pharma companies to ASK for protection with the Ebola vaccine. But we ALSO expect the answer to be ABSOLUTELY NOT. Lawmakers have an obligation to the public to DEMAND, big pharma companies either make it RIGHT, or don’t make it at all. Support Indymedia! Bill Gates: A conversation on poverty and prosperity | LIVE STREAM

01:06:53
The greatest antipoverty achievement in human history is unfolding before our eyes. The percentage of people living in extreme poverty has plummeted by 80 percent in the past four decades alone. Child mortality has fallen to record lows. Whole societies where deprivation and hopelessness seemed inevitable just a generation ago now rank among the world's fastest-growing economies. What brought about this remarkable transformation? How can we build on its success? AEI's Philanthropic Freedom Project welcomes Bill Gates for an exclusive event at AEI. In conversation with AEI President Arthur Brooks, Gates will describe philanthropy's role in reshaping the landscape of global poverty, dispel myths about development that prevent the poor from rising, and discuss his prediction that almost no countries will still be poor by 2035. Chronic Pain and Addiction Presentation South Pacific Private

26:21
The significant increase in the use of pharmaceutical opioids for the treatment of non-cancer pain and associated related increases in dependency and deaths has led to a lot of concern, particularly in the US. The figures are alarming. Sales of opioid analgesics in the US increased fourfold between 1999 and 2010. In 2008 more than 14,000 deaths were related to the misuse of prescription medications, the vast majority prescription opioids. While there is evidence that marketing of these drugs for use in non-chronic cancer pain was not as aggressive in Australia, recent statistics are nonetheless worrying. In this recent presentation, Dr Ben Teoh, Psychiatrist & Physician in Addiction Medicine & Medical Superintendent South Pacific Private addresses these issues, the challenges and how Chronic Pain relates to Addiction.

Dr. Kenneth Woliner on Choosing a Therapy

01:29
How to Determine the Best Therapy for Your Health Condition With pharmaceutical drug sales still dominating the market as well as doctors' recommendations, Dr. Woliner explains how he decides the best therapy for his patients By Dr. Kenneth Woliner, M.D. Not all therapies are created equal -- and every patient's needs are unique. Some therapies are ineffective. Some therapies are toxic. Some therapies burn a hole through your pocket in the blink of an eye, and before you know it, you are left in financial ruin and still have the same health problems as you did prior to therapy. Before blindly diving head first into the prescribed therapy, it's important to gauge whether or not that treatment is really what's best for you. A doctor should always have the patient's best interest as his or her priority. They must do right by the patient. For example, in my practice, I look for three key ingredients to ensure a successful therapy: 1) Does the therapy work? New research by a ProPublica analysis shows that more than 1,300 practitioners nationwide received both research money and speaking or consulting fees from the same drug maker in 2012. Additionally, they received more than $90 million in research grants — plus nearly $17 million for combined speaking engagements and consulting. These numbers, as well as other expert speculations, determine that certain therapies may be more in favor depending on the doctors' relationships to the pharmaceutical companies. When it's time to prescribe my patients with a therapy, I make sure it helps them live longer and better. I want my patients to feel energetic, without depression, anxiety, or any other symptoms that frequently tag along with these major prescription drugs. When the side-effects list is longer than the rest of the commercial, there may be a problem, Houston. I use clinical research and extensive physical evaluations to put the puzzle pieces together. I consider all of the variables to ensure a safe, effective therapy for my patients' conditions, whether it be thyroid disorder, fibromyalgia, diabetes, chronic depression, fatigue, candida, Crohn's disease, hypoglycemia and more. 2) Is the therapy toxic? An article came out a few years ago in AARP The Magazine telling the story of a 61-year-old Los Angeles civil attorney who suddenly became disoriented in Trader Joes. Wandering the isles in a haze, yelling at her roommate, and eventually yanking the fire extinguisher off the wall to spray the kitchen and bathroom with the thick, white foam, the woman woke up the next morning recovered, embarrassed and baffled as to what triggered her bizarre behavior. The cause was drug toxicity, a gradual buildup of prescription medication in her blood steam, her doctor determined. The moral of the story is that some therapies can be toxic to the body. While it may help one health problem, it can ignite another... and that's an internal fire you can't put out with an extinguisher. 3) How much is it going to cost my patients? The health industry will forever thrive, and it's thriving off your dollars! When deciding therapies for my patients, I try to find methods that are relatively inexpensive and easy to do. For example, many times, I will prescribe a manageable diet instead of a prescription drug. If I can introduce my patients to foods they can eat to lower their cholesterol, increase their metabolism, control their weight, or reduce their fatigue, I will gravitate toward the healthier, more natural solution. Mother nature has all of the ingredients to help relieve symptoms. From the calming affects of nature for relaxation and exercise, to natural herbs and hormones, alternative therapies do exist and they have proven to work with minimal side effects. Resorting to expensive pharmaceuticals from these massive companies is not the only way, nor the best way. There are holistic treatments available that are economical and easy to obey and can reduce the likelihood of harm done to your body. Lowest Price Prescription Medications in 2014

01:05
Lowest Price Prescription Medications http://rxpdx.com The United States is the only developed nation that doesn't place restrictions on drug prices -- at least not much, or very consistently. Our system is a confusing morass of economic ideology mixed with good intentions to the point where it's often easier to know how to order and administer a drug than how to pay for it. The Supreme Court's decision in Abbott Laboratories v. Portland Retail Druggists, 425 U.S. 1 (1976) seems fair enough. The Robinson-Patman Act, which made it illegal for companies to discriminate on price, made an exception for sales of products made to hospitals and some other non-profits for their "own use." That allowed drug companies to offer medications to hospitals at special, often extreme discounts. The benefit to the drug companies was simple enough -- if a patient was started on a drug as an inpatient, the same drug was likely to be prescribed for continued use after discharge. Even if the drug wasn't prescribed for inpatient use, interns and residents would become familiar with the drug and prescribe it in private practice, even when there might be less costly alternatives available. The Portland pharmacies complained that hospitals were buying the discounted drugs but essentially operating retail pharmacies by selling to individuals who weren't really patients of the hospital. The Court simply defined "own use" as drugs for inpatients, for hospital employee prescription plans, and for discharge prescriptions. If the discharge prescription had to be refilled, the drug dispensed had to be purchased at the normal wholesale price. The drug companies did well on that system. An inpatient stay might last 2 to 3 days, but a drug for hypertension or diabetes could be taken for years afterwards. Lowest Price Prescription Medications http://rxpdx.com

DS Healthcare Group Reports 2013 Year-End and Fourth Quarter Financial Results

POMPANO BEACH, Fla., April 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DS Healthcare Group, Inc. (DSKX), a leading developer of personal care products, today announced financial results for the three and twelve months ended December 31, 2013. 2013 Year-End Highlights: Record net revenues of $13,652,000, up 22% over 2012 Gross margin increases to 50% in 2013 from 40% in 2012 Gross profits increase to $6,709,000, up 50% over 2012 Net loss narrows 11% from 2012 to $(3,225,000) Adjusted EBITDA, a non-GAAP financial measure, in 2013 was a loss of $(1,170,000) Files first patent for its proprietary hair loss formula Begins preparation to file Investigational New Drug application with FDA for prescription hair loss product Continues global expansion with launch of products in Brazil and China, two of the world's largest beauty markets, and integrates acquired Mexican distributor $3.144 million fund raise in December 2013 and January 2014 strengthens balance sheet Cash on hand of $2,873,000 as of December 31, 2013 Fourth Quarter (Q4) 2013 Highlights: Q4 net revenues up 10% year-over-year to $3,059,000 Gross margin increases to 49% in Q4 resulting in a gross profit of $1,570,000 Net loss narrows 66% from Q4 of 2012 to $(945,000) Adjusted EBITDA, a non-GAAP financial measure, in Q4 was a loss of $(110,000) "In 2013 we continued to solidify our position as the leader in innovative over-the-counter hair thinning products as evidenced by our fifth consecutive year of record top line growth. Revenue growth was driven primarily by sales of our Revita Shampoo and Spectral treatment lines that are recognized around the world for their efficacy in hair re-growth. During the year we also made a very strategic start into the prescription hair loss market, where there is a clear and underserved need for effective solutions without side effects," stated DS Healthcare President and CEO Daniel Khesin. Mr. Khesin continued, "We are increasing market share for our over-the-counter branded products which are now sold through over 10,000 outlets in the U.S. and internationally. In 2013 48% of our sales were from outside of the U.S. We made key market moves into Brazil, the second largest beauty market in the world, and we fully integrated our former Mexican distributor, which we acquired at the end of 2012. Sales in Mexico made a significant contribution to our revenue growth in 2013 and we believe Brazil could do the same in 2014 and beyond. Notable milestones achieved in 2013 include our efforts that led to a 5-year agreement we executed in February of 2014 with one of the world's largest healthcare companies. Through this agreement, we will provide one of our proprietary formulations, ingredients and technology to this Fortune 500 global healthcare company for use in a topical product to be launched and distributed by them. This kind of agreement validates the recognized uniqueness and value of our innovative formulations in the market." "During 2014 we plan to begin the clinical development of our pharmaceutical hair loss product, which we believe addresses a $10 billion market in need of a product that works. We laid the foundations in 2013 by filing for a U.S. patent for this prescription grade formulation, retaining Aptiv Solutions as our clinical research organization, and by preparing to file our investigational new drug application with the Food and Drug Administration. If approved, we believe our product would be only the third prescription grade hair loss product and the second topical prescription grade hair loss product to receive FDA approval in the U.S.," Khesin concluded.

Go to http://YesMasters.com For more killer training videos for REALTORS who want more Yes's and more Successes in their business and in their life! From Kevin Ward, international real estate trainer, speaker, and coach. In this video Kevin explains why you never want to take an overpriced listing. REASON #1: It’s BAD BUSINESS. Because it doesn’t represent your client’s best interest. In any other profession, misrepresenting a client like this would be inexcusable. For a CPA to prepare prepare your taxes wrong to make more money. a criminal offense. For a doctor to perform a surgery you didn’t need…or to prescribe a drug for the kickbacks from the pharmaceutical company… malpractice. For an attorney to take a case he/she knows you can’t win just to charge you a retainer. You would want them disbarred. For a dentist to do a root canal on a healthy tooth… malpractice. But for an agent to take an overpriced listing….it's considered business as usual. It's time for us to raise the bar and cut the B.S. (bad sales), and start representing our clients' best interest ahead of our own. REASON #2: IT’S BAD MARKETING. This idea of taking a listing to get your sign out there and for the buyer calls, beyond being unethical and unprofessional, it makes the listing agent look bad. Your sign in the same yard month after month with no SOLD sign showing up is marketing to every homeowner in the neighborhood…but it’s not the marketing you want. What exactly are you advertising? Your incompetence and inability to get results. And when your sign comes down a few months later without the house selling, you just told every homeowner in the neighborhood NOT to list with you. Nintendo Misses Wii U And 3DS Sales Targets, Posts $229M Loss

00:56
Nintendo has just posted their financial results for the last fiscal year, and many of their projections fell short of their own expectations. Nintendo revised many of their forecast numbers downward in January, but the final results fell below even those altered projections in most areas. Worldwide sales ended up at $5.6 billion, down from a revised forecast of $5.79 billion, which was once projected to be $9 billion in April 2013. There was an operating income shortfall of $455 million--more than the predicted $343 million, and a far cry from the original prediction of a $981 million positive result. http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2014/05/07/nintendo-misses-wii-u-and-3ds-sales-targets-posts-229m-loss/ http://www.wochit.com
