HOW TO TEACH A WALDORF LESSON

05:21
Curious how I teach our main lessons for our Waldorf Botany Main Lesson Block? It's actually never the same each time. Sometimes we begin with the written portion, sometimes with the art portion, but more often, it begins with an oral narration on my part or a reading from a 'living' book (refer to Charlotte Mason for explanation on Living Books). While working through lesson 4 of our Botany Main Lesson curriculum, I decided to add an extra art sample to our main lesson books. Today's lesson is how we added a watercolor sample of seaweed to accompany the main lesson block. We chose to watercolor local varieties of seaweed for local significance as well as significance to the curriculum. We watercolored giant sea kelp as we live off the coast of California, and this is a variety we are both familiar with as well as see often when at the beach. I chose watercolors because seaweed grow in water, and I thought the ethereal look of watercolors would complement the ethereal look of seaweed under water. This lesson is about algae with seaweed being a marine algae. We are now exploring plants that represent 'part' of the complete plant with seaweed being a 'leaf' plant with no true roots or flowers or fruit. Seaweed collapses if taken out of the water, yet they are similar to the tall trees in a forest as seaweed often provides a safe haven for other plants and sea animals. Though they have no true roots, they have a holdfast which keeps the seaweed attached to rocks but takes in no nutrients. Those are absorbed throughout the whole plant. Sketchbook Fury with Graham Smith - Lesson 2 - Overcome Fear

15:51
SKETCHBOOK FURY - THE ART NINJA'S GUIDEBOOK - LESSON 2 OF 4 Your sketchbook is your training ground where you practice your moves - your idea garden. Come along with us as Graham Smith shows you how to plant your ideas in your idea garden and let them grow. He'll show you how to experiment, practice, record ideas and develop them. It's your rules & your ideas. You don't need to show anyone. LESSON 2 of 4 - OVERCOME FEAR: We'll look at how to overcome creative blocks AKA perfection paralysis or white page fever. One of the biggest fears is not knowing what to draw. In this Graham gives a list of advice on what you could draw (people on the train, every fruit you ever ate, expressions your pet makes, etc). In general, DRAW THE WORLD AROUND YOU. The more you dive in and draw a subject, the more you understand it, and the less you fear about it. Don't let perfection paralysis get you. Not everything needs to be perfect. Just start, keep practicing, draw something every day, and your drawings will vastly improve. STRIVE FOR CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT, NOT PERFECTION. Check out the next 2 lessons: Lesson 2 - OVERCOME FEAR - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUArhdO2zds&feature=youtu.be Lesson 3: BASIC SKILLS - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x00zMemQ2_E If you missed lesson 1 (Build Your Dojo), check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFjFpUJeY9A

WALDORF LESSON ONE BOTANY | CHALK DRAWING | DRAW WITH ME

04:44
The complete plant is the first lesson for the Waldorf Main Lesson block for Botany. This chalk drawing illustrated the plant with its root, stem, leaves, fruit/seed, and flower. This drawing was made using chalk pastels by Sargent Art found at fine art stores. Ours were purchased from Dick Blick. This drawing took about 30 minutes to do and will remain on the chalkboard for about a week or less. The botany main lesson is typically for grade 5 in a Waldorf school. My 10 year old 5th grader and 15 year old 9th grader will be doing these lessons. My 5th grader did his drawing on pastel paper using oil pastels. The accompanying page in his main lesson book includes a color pencil drawing with explanation of the lesson in the form of copywork. My 9th grader did his in his main lesson book using Lyra color pencils. His narration includes original work as well as copywork. OBJECT LESSON ABOUT SIN: Target Game

05:08
Here's a simple game that you can use when you teach a lesson that includes the topic of 'SIN'. It can be used when teaching a number of Bible stories. All you need is a target and some feather darts. I learned this game idea from Christian Education Publications (CEP) Connect. Check out the CEP website here: https://www.cepstore.com.au. Music: 'Once we were dead in sin' written, arranged and produced by Bruce Wheatley. For more games ideas check out this GAMES PLAYLIST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtpKcnhUbR4&list=PLvEb8AA7B8J-jzgtbdMeGFMvnP_zE6ss2 OBJECT LESSONS for teaching KIDS at CHURCH, HOME & SCHOOL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GG6GBhLRRwE&list=PLvEb8AA7B8J_lGuRWrGM3HxqaoFiTHb49ht For more FREE CHILDREN’S MINISTRY IDEAS check out my channel front page here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJtwux8JyjcqxlUvGRpQhCw?disable_polymer=true Follow my ideas on Facebook too: https://www.facebook.com/wrightideaswithsusan/?fref=nf My website for Bible lesson resources: lessons plans, colour sheets, games, craft, memory verse and song posters: https://www.wrightideaswithsusan.com/ #wrightideaswithsusan #biblelessonsforkids #sundayschool #objectlessonforkids #kidmin #childrensministry #gameideasforkids FREE BIBLE LESSON RESOURCES for CHILDREN’S MINISTRY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bdy4tmUCL5w&list=PLvEb8AA7B8J9uBWPt1JcqPN-8nLbpg7W2 QUICK & EASY WAYS to teach a Bible story to CHILDREN: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIOHfpflz7o&list=PLvEb8AA7B8J_dVY-kVPIiW9VGMlL1jQEG TECH TALK: USING TECHNOLOGY IN CHILDREN’S MINISTRY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apFhFvgxcbk&list=PLvEb8AA7B8J89JvsAyaU5iJZmpZEhVddm I like to play the game at the beginning of the lesson, so I get a bunch of kids up the front and I challenge them to try to hit the bullseye every single time and get a perfect score. And it’s no easy feat as you can see. So I start with the game and then I go into the Bible story. It could be about Adam and Eve, it could be about Moses, it could be about Zaccheaus, it could be about the people of Israel. Any sort of Bible story. And then when you get into the topic of sin, I’ll say, Now, what did they do wrong that got God wasn’t happy with and we will talk about that. And then I’ll refer to the game. And say, Hey, did anyone get a perfect score of 7 and hit the target perfectly? No? Nobody did? Did you know that the Hebrew word for ‘sin’ actually means to miss the mark? To miss the bullseye. So in archery, when you miss that, it means you’ve sinned. It’s the same way in the Bible. And then I’ll ask the question, Did anyones dart not even hit the target and fall short? Yes, Did you know that in the Bible, it says, that “All of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory”. That means all of us are imperfect – none of us are perfect like God. Everyone does wrong things like, Lying, disobeying, hurting others and being selfish. And then I refer back to the bible story and we talk about that some more. And sometimes I like to give a little personal reflection. I might say something like this… You know, I know people who do not believe that they sin. They may something like, ‘Oh ya, that was just a mistake when I lied to the teacher. Oh, that was a mistake when I kicked that girl at playtime. Oh, that was just a mistake when I stole that pencil’. And you know they may never see a need to believe in Jesus because they don’t feel like they need to be forgiven because they don’t see that they do anything wrong - They just make “mistakes”. But… for people like me, I know I do wrong, I know I am a sinner, I know I miss the mark and I’m not perfect. And you know what, I need forgiveness. I need forgiveness of the people I have wronged and I need forgiveness from God. And I am so glad that a Sunday school teacher told me many years ago when I was just 11, that Jesus came and that he died to pay for all the wrong things I would every say, that I would ever do and that I would ever think. All the times that I miss the mark. Jesus paid for that. And you know what, that’s really good news. The other thing is, by believing in Jesus I get something really special and that is the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit is what helps me to choose to not do the things that are wrong, to choose to not sin but to choose things that are good and to choose things that are right. And you know what? That’s good news for sinners like me and there’s millions of us around the world who know that we are sinners and we need Jesus and we need God. I could then follow the lesson up by showing a clip from my playlist on the topic of sin. And if you liked this idea, can you give it a thumbs up and let me know? And if you would like more ideas or games ideas or object lessons you can check out my playlists there as well. Thanks again for watching! And may God bless you as you teach the next generation about Jesus.

Construction | English Vocabulary | kids vocabulary | Toddler Learning | vocabulary for kids ABOUT ENGLISH VOCABULARY Vocabulary is the key to your child understanding what she hears and reads in school and to communicating successfully with other people. Research studies have shown the strong links between having an extensive vocabulary and achieving school success. Research studies have shown that in most cases words have to be met 5-7 times before they are admitted to long-term memory. This is how, through reading, we learn the words of our own language. Words are also more easily learned if your child is active - see a picture of the word, real picture of word in the world, writing her own definition of it in English or the mother tongue, thinking of an example sentence to use it in. This is better than simply writing the word and its native language equivalent. _ Join us social media Google+ http://bit.ly/2jfx34F Twitter http://bit.ly/2js1Ubt face book http://bit.ly/2isPqlD About .....kids vocabulary https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCF4OyU0_9VjZM1PLSLiCWXg ___ Musical Instruments for Kids The Little Orchestra Music Makers,,kids vocabulary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkC2ubKyqsA&t=57s Insects Pictures for Kids-Insect Name-kids vocabulary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82Z8K4tGgxY&t=97s __ watch all video. HOMESCHOOL ACTIVITY | MEASUREMENT MATH : LENGTH, CIRCUMFERENCE, MEDIAN AND MEAN | MATH IN THE GARDEN

05:59
We are working through the book Math In The Garden, and finding a lot of inspiration for math activities from this book. It is designed to integrate math with gardening and does so beautifully with innovative lessons that are explained well and enhanced with delightful illustrations. Today, we are working on Measurement: Length and Circumference with garden fruit and vegetables, an activity for children 8-13 years of age. To increase the difficulty of this lesson, you can add the activities of lining up the fruit in order of longest to smallest to determine the median and once again line up the fruit in order of circumference to find the median. You can also calculate the mean for circumference and length. What I like about this book is that each lessons comes with multiple ways to approach the lesson or comes with various activities. You could complete them all or choose what suits you students, or you could use the book as inspiration and depart completely from the activities and design your own lessons and activities based on the information provided in the book. How To Remove Lectins From Your Food (Improve Autoimmune, Colitis)

07:00
There's an increasing body of evidence pointing out that some people suffer horrible digestive and autoimmune issues because their body has trouble dealing with the natural lectin content of their diet. While one option for dealing with this is simply avoiding all high-lectin foods (like a fruit-based raw diet), people are often counseled to soak or otherwise process their beans, nuts, seeds, and grains to reduce the lectin content of their diets. In this video we look at the research into the subject to see which methods do the best job of reducing lectin content. We examine soaking, baking soda, sprouting, fermenting, boiling, and pressure cooking.

Counting Math Games for Kids - Math Games for Kids

05:01
Do you want to teach your child how to count? We got it all wrapped as a gift for you! There are different counting methods that parents homeschooling their kids could depend on and this is one that is suitable for the ages between 3 and 6, kindergarten, preschool, ks1, foundation stage and grade 1. Counting is the first step taken in the world of math and sometimes kids learn to count through playing some games, which is the work of the parents and the creative lesson ideas they will manage to get up with. In this educational video, the lesson will be about teaching the kids to count through using their toys. Divide yourself into two groups - the parent as a group and the kid as the second - and bring two huge plastic cups for every single one to use one of them in order to place the objects inside. Every single one will choose the objects that he/she wants or loves the most - in our case it was all about the small characters for James and the Lego blocks for me. Bring a dice and let the kid throw it first and the number that he/she will get is the number of monsters that he/she should throw inside the plastic cup. This will happen in turn between the kid and the parent and the one getting the bigger number at the end of the game will be the winner. For choosing the dice, there are two different options and this will always depend on the child and the level he/she have reached at school, it could be the dice with dots instead of the numbers so that the kid could count them and there is also the one with the numbers written down for those who count recognize the numbers easily (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYmMjMBjMcI). While the kids are placing their objects inside the plastic cup, parents should ask them along the way how many do they have inside to see whether the kids are keeping up with the numbers they are adding up inside the cup or else not and also let the kids learn how to add things up and learn to count (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wvSw8hoXPI). In order to see whether the kids are paying attention to the steps taken throughout the game or else not, you should make a mistake along the way and see what they are going to see and how they will tell you to solve the question - you mind find that they are changing the rules of the game for the mistake you have made! It is also important to ask the kids to count along with you when you are counting your pieces as some kind of help and at the same time to let them practice (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roMEZv1OObc). This is one of the different games that kids could learn to count through and one of the different methods that parents homeschooling their children could try and have some fun along the way while teaching their kids some math lessons. There are some other games to try here, we have some links here on our channel to help you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3q7imQuRBQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roMEZv1OObc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-YBC4LPOQw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsx_YrR9CmE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6I0FdpAigpU Such games will give the child more self confidence when they find themselves winning the game and counting correctly and they will be also looking forward to the challenge of winning the game and letting their parents be the losers. Another important thing is to give the child the chance to be the one in control and count along with you when you are counting to give them the chance to practice and at the same time give them the feeling that they are the correct ones to check on what you are doing. Parents should never worry about the time their kids might be taking to learn a new lesson because they will eventually get there and learn everything. Children are not the same when it comes to learning, so some might take longer in a specific lesson than others, but they all get there at the end and learn the lesson delivered to them, they just need a little bit of more practice. Play along with your child while homeschooling him/her and let us know how it all turned at the end, did they enjoy counting their small characters and toys? On and off, I've worked in this market for 42 years. It was me and my wife. And now it's just me. She refuses to work with me, whilst my mood swings. I usually leave home at about ten past four in the morning. And I get home about a quarter to six. A long hour day, long hour day. A black chap that works for Islington council, he comes through every morning. He has literally twenty chains around his neck, 100 rings on his fingers, singing and dancing. He sweeps along up the street, really, really funny character. Really nice bloke. All walks of life: rich, poor, all different nationalities, everybody. Traditionally summer was the busier months, but I think it sort of levels itself out now. In the summer, everyone goes to the park now and they go on holiday. Where in the winter months, although it's colder and damp and that, they've still gotta come out and do their shopping. What changes? Less stalls in the market now. Like when I started, there was probably 30 fruit and vegetable stalls. Now there's only five. The market went from the bottom here right the way to the very end. It was over 200 stalls. There's probably only about 80 on a good day now. Housing and building. Just behind us here, there was like a block of flats. Upwards of 200 families in it. That's gone, which is where Sainsbury's is now. Just over where the N1 Centre, that was all rows of houses. No one lives here now at all. Factories and shops and that. The people 've gone. That's why I think the market is quieter in general than what it was years ago. 'Cause everyone's moved away. Favourite part of the job? Looking at the girls. 'Cause there's lots of girls up and down all day. The biggest challenge is, not so much the buying of the stuff, it's the selling of it. My most popular items at the moment are probably cherries and strawberries. My hobbies? Going to the pub, playing with my grandchildren and watching football. I don't play golf or anything. 'Cause they're during the daytime, isn't it. I don't go to work, I'd sit at home. I don't do gardening, I don't Do It Yourself, so I'll just sit at home. So I'll work as long as my health lets me. You know, you have got the weather in the winter and that. The cold, the wind, the rain. My bones do ache a bit now. I've got a bit of arthritis. But that's like years of being up here. No, I don't like being told what to do. Only my wife, she's the only one that tells me what to do.

13 Years Living Off the Land - Man Shares REAL Homestead Experience

07:17
Peter from TreeEater Farm & Nursery (http://treeeaternursery.com/) in BC shares the challenges and lessons learned from his experience earning a living off the land for 13 years with his partner Magdalene. Peter moved to a piece of land in British Columbia's Gulf Islands as an idealistic 22-year old who wanted to save the world and reduce his environmental footprint by growing his own food, building his own shelter, and producing his own fibres for clothes. Magdalene joined him a few years later. To make this homesteading project financially viable, the couple has had to experiment with different revenue streams, including community supported agriculture (CSA) vegetable box programs, hand forged tools, meat animals, dairy cows, and selling fruit and nut trees, as well as plenty of off-farm work as well. After a steep and labour-intensive learning curve, Peter has realized that living off the land can be very expensive, that it can be difficult to earn an income from agricultural products — especially if your land isn't situated in an area with a market for your product nearby, and that living off the land requires a lot of infrastructure & maintenance — all of which costs time and money. And they aren't even trying to be off grid. It was refreshing to get such an honest look behind the scenes of what appears to be a utopian lifestyle: living in a hand built timber frame home with a cozy wood stove, and eating fruit and nuts from your own island orchard's trees, and to know there's quite a big financial and physical struggle to make it all happen. I decided it would be fun to paint a bowl of peaches on a weathered blue table after listening to The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen. I will have a reference photo on my blog shortly if you want to follow along with the photo, keep in mind I did change the composition a bit. Supplies: Watercolors (Rembrandt) Cad Red Deep, Cad Yellow Deep, Olive Green, Turquoise, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna http://amzn.to/2tqv9AN 9"x12" Arches watercolor block CP http://amzn.to/2solqML A variety of watercolor brushes #10 & #4 round (Aqualon) http://amzn.to/2sNnO03 3/4" flat (Mimik) 1" oval Wash or any large brush for wetting the paper (Zen) *This kit would have all the brushes you would need and they are high quality: http://amzn.to/2rB0oHG Other: Pencil for sketching, white plastic eraser, 2 water buckets, paper towels ***If you need paper and want to try Rembrandt paint this kit has a 9"x12" arches block and 7 tubes of Rembrandt for a steal (you will need to mix your greens though to paint today's painting, I have this set and the block I am painting on today came in this kit. It is a nice way to sample Rembrandt paint before making a big investment too and an extra block of Arches watercolor paper always comes in handy!) http://amzn.to/2sRcUHG Want more painting instruction? WALDORF HOMESCHOOL | WINTER THEMED UNIT | KINDERGARTEN & 1ST GRADE

28:06
Curious how we are doing our non-religious winter themed unit? I'm sharing what materials we are using and how we picked them. This Waldorf inspired winter themed unit will last from December through February and will include fairy tales, songs, poems, activities, watercoloring, block crayon drawings, form drawing, crafts and cooking. Many of the projects will have video tutorials and you can see them here in the complete Winter playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKtlrAvCCQw&list=PLJxUV0rOnlxyYA0wwGctLSmsMYiuj1kbK For this unit, I have a list of materials and projects we used that can be downloaded for free! You can use this list to make your own lesson plans. If you'd rather have the completed lesson plans, they are available for sale at Teachers Pay Teacher: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Waldorf-Inspired-Winter-Themed-Unit-Lesson-Plans-3535909 We plant to do a number of lessons and activities during this season and while this unit is geared towards my six-year-old, there are some activities, like knitting and stitching, that are too advanced for her and will be completed by my 11-year-old. Things will change! Our lesson plans are fluid and dynamic and many changes will happen before this unit is over. Activities and lessons will be added while others will not be completed. To see a complete review of our unit, check back at the end of the season for a complete summary of how this unit went.
