How to find cheap or free campsites in Europe - Plan a Motorhome Road Trip Pt 2 - Wild camping

21:43
How do you find cheap or free campsites in Europe? This is How to Plan a Motorhome Road Trip Part 2. (Part 1 can be found here: https://youtu.be/Oxke9g_04kA ) If you want to know how to find wild camping, cheap overnight stays or beautiful places around Europe to stop, this video is for you. More info can be found on our website http://wandering-bird.com. If you've watched Part 1 of How to Plan a Motorhome Road Trip, you'll know how to get to Europe, but how do you know where to stay? How do you find these incredible cheap or even free camping spots?? When we began our 2017 Europe Motorhome Tour we didn't know where to start- RV Living was completely new to us! But we got on that ferry to Europe and we had an amazing time while learning very fast how everything works and what works for us! We're heading off to Europe again in a few weeks and we wanted to answer some of your questions about how to start a plan for a motorhome trip, how we travel from the UK to Europe, how to decide where to go, how we navigate and where we stay. We completely understand that to people who have never done it before, going to a foreign country can be incredibly daunting, especially if you have a motorhome, RV, van, caravan or other large vehicle to worry about. We've tried to answer as many questions as possible but if you have any more, please just ask below. We hope that it might inspire some of you to get in your own vans and go have some adventures!! Let us know if it does. Sites mentioned in this video are: Searchforsites.co.uk campercontact.com Park4night.com ALL ARE FREE TO SIGN UP & USE. I am not affiliated to them in any way. _________________________________________________________________ In 2017, our family travelled Europe in a motorhome. When we returned, we decided we liked it so much we wanted to do it again! So we traded in the van for a bigger model, quit (one of) our jobs and in 2018 we're heading off to explore Europe again- proper RV living! We're starting with Germany and then moving on to Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and many more. We hope you can follow our journey! _________________________________________________________________ FOLLOW OUR ADVENTURES: BLOG: https://wandering-bird.com INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/wanderingbird.a... ITALY BUDGET TRAVEL -ROME Part 1

SPRING IN ITALY Hi guys! Italy was not part of my bucket list as what I´ve said on the vlog. It's a previlige to visit the great Italy since I live nearby, 3.5 hours by plane away! I've seen the beautiful photos and have always wanted to see how breathtaking this land really was with my own eyes! Especially the works of Michaelangelo which was not shown here in the vlog for the reason it`s not allowed to take pictures inside the Sistine Chapel. I´ve learned about the history and the stories behind the things. Follow me on instagram : @chenax03 Facebook : Chen Galo Thanks Guys!

Italy to Canada Travel Vlog: Going Home for the Holidays

14:49
Join for journey from Italy to Canada in this travel vlog as we take a series of trains and flights to head back home. After spending most of the year in Europe it was finally time to come home to Canada for the holidays. We started our journey off in Pompei taking the regional circumvesuviana train to Naples before connecting to a fast train to Rome. Upon arriving in Rome we checked in at a cheap budget hotel nearby the main train station. Waking up early in the morning we walked to the train station and ended up taking a shuttle bus to Fiumicino instead of a train to save a few bucks which we ended up spending on our last pizza, panini and gelato at the airport. Our first flight to Lisbon from Rome with TAP Portugal was delayed because of weather and ended up being a turbulent flight with the seatbelt sign on the entire journey. With next to no time to spare we literally ran to catch our next flight and were the last passengers to board. The flight with TAP from Lisbon to Toronto was just as bumpy and was really uncomfortable. Upon arriving in Toronto we were merely relieved to be off of the plane. We're both nervous about flying and back to back turbulent flights really frazzled our nerves. However, upon seeing Togo the German Shepherd at Audrey's family house all was well and we'll leave it at that. We are in Pompei and we have got an epic travel vlog for you because not only are we traveling to Naples and then to Rome but we're going back to Canada. Yes. Via Lisbon. We're going to show you the entire journey and we're starting off on a regional train. What is that train called again? We're at station Circumvesuviana. We don't know when it is coming because today is day two of that holiday. Yeah. The feast of the immaculate conception and everything is shutdown. Yeah. So hopefully we'll get on a train soon. It is going to be a tight connection with our other train yeah which goes from Naples to Rome. We're going to be staying overnight. Yeah. And then the following morning we pick up with the flights with TAP Portugal. We're going to be starting off on a train ending with a German Shepherd dog Togo. We're going to be hanging out in Audrey's family house for a while in Brampton, Canada. We've got a busy travel day so yeah let's get it started. We've said goodbye to the trains and now we are going to be flying. It is a day of flying. We were planning on taking the train to the airport. When we got to the station and we noticed all of these airport buses parked right here. It is less than half of the price. And it only takes 45 minutes as opposed to what like 20 or 30 by train. The bus tickets are 6 Euros and the train tickets are 5.90. We didn't film the second leg of the journey. The flight from Lisbon to Toronto because first of all we barely got on the plane. I'd say a minute. We were the last people. We made it. Our first flight was late. We had the craziest tightest connection to begin with. Because there was no line at Immigration. That is the only reason we made it on. And the last flight we were just so exhausted and we were and it was so turbulent. It was like 3 hours of turbulence. Back to back super turbulent flights. Like basically the seatbelt signs were on both of those flights. It wasn't fun but we are here. Back home. Waiting for the luggage. Back in Canada. We'll see if our luggage made it. There is a good chance it didn't. Fingers crossed. But we're getting so close to ending this vlog because we promised you we would show you the dog Togo. We cover activities you won't find in a typical Florence tourism brochure, Florence itinerary or Florence, Italy city tour also known as Firenze Italia. 20 Things to do in Florence, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (FIRENZE) Florence: when it comes to Renaissance art, there’s probably no better city in the world to soak it all in! Our time here was spent viewing works by Italian masters both in museums and public spaces, marvelling at the architecture - in particular Florence Cathedral and its massive dome, going in search of the best lookout points, and eating plenty of pizza & gelato sharing the best things to do in Florence on your visit. We paid 15 Euros for a ticket that gave us access to 5 attractions associated with Florence Cathedral. Giotto’s Campanile, the bell tower stands 84.7 metres with 414 steps. We made our way over to our next attraction: the Baptistry. Known as both the Florence Baptistry and the Baptistry of Saint John. We continued to Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, which is a museum dedicated to conserving artworks relating to Florence Cathedral. It was time to climb the dome of Florence Cathedral. We ate our gelato at Grom and it was delicious. The Uffizi Gallery is considered one of the best museums in the world focusing on the Italian Renaissance. Most of the art collection you see today was gifted to the city of Florence by Anna Maria Luisa, the last Medici heiress. From Uffizi Gallery you get some pretty cool views of Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River from a higher vantage point. We visited in Florence was Piazza della Signoria, an L-shaped square right in the heart of the city. A landmark in this square is Palazzo Vecchio or the Town Hall. And to the right of this building, you have the Loggia dei Lanzi. Speaking of David, we did find him, over at Galleria dell’Accademia. Michelangelo’s David depicts the Biblical David carved out of a single block of marble. Ponte Vecchia during the 16th century that one of the Medici ordered for the butcher shops to be replaced with jewellers. When it comes to sunset in Florence, there are no better views than from Piazzale Michelangelo overlooking the historic center on the other side of the Arno River. This indoor market is foodie central with the second floor of the market is filled with eateries. Central Market is a great place to pick up ingredients to bring back to your kitchen. We hope you enjoyed this Florence travel guide and that it gave you ideas of things to do. We cover activities you won't find in a typical Venice tourism brochure, Venice itinerary or Venice, Italy city tour also known as Venezia Italia. 20 Things to do in Venice, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (VENEZIA ITALIA): We’re taking you on a whirlwind tour of Venice in winter visiting the famed Floating City. Join us as we show you the best things to see, do and eat in Venice. The Vaporetto is Venice’s water bus service. The standard ticket is 7.50 Euros and valid for 60 minutes, the 1 day pass is 20 Euros and valid for 24 hours. The most visited attraction in Venice: Piazza San Marco where there is quite a bit to see and do around the square beginning with St Mark’s Basilica. St Mark’s Campanile, a tall brick bell tower was once used by approaching ships as a beacon to guide them home where you get great views of the city. Then you have the Doge’s Palace, which was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the ruler of the former Republic of Venice built in the Venetian Gothic style. Don't forget the Bridge of SIghs, whose name refers to the sighs of prisoners who would get their last glimpse of Venice as they were led from Doge's Palace to their cells. Across to the other side of the Grand Canal, you have the Basilica of Saint Mary of Health and the Galleria dell’Accademia in case you’re in the mood for art. A restaurant we really enjoyed La Zucca - a place where all the dishes are made with pumpkin! The Rialto Market specializes in produce and fresh seafood for self-catering. Let’s talk about island hopping in Venice: Founded in the 5th century, Torcello is even older than Venice and was the original settlement in the Venetian Lagoon with lots of walking paths, nature and Byzantine mosaics. Burano is known for its lace work and brightly coloured homes with plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops to browse. Mazzorbo island sits next to Burano and is connected by a bridge while being known for its vineyards and orchards. Murano is renowned for its glass production dating back to 1291 when the glassmakers in Venice were forced to relocate by the Venetian government. Lido is an 11-kilometre sandbar island that shelters the lagoon from the Adriatic Sea with beaches, lots of seaside homes, and this is also where the Venice Film Festival takes place. A restaurant we liked in Venice is Osteria Mocenigo specializing in local cuisine. Try the “Sarde in saor” - a typical Venetian dish made with sardines. While your vaporetto pass is valid ride the canals at night and watch the Floating City come to life. We hope you enjoyed this Venice travel guide and that it gave you a few ideas for your own trip. Trip Planning? Follow the Fun and Head to a Festival

01:11
It’s winter — my favorite time for travel dreaming! If you’re still deciding on your next destination, here’s a tip: Find a great local festival and build your trip around that. Festivals are filled with rich tradition, great food, and lots of fun with the locals. While it can be hard to get tickets for some festivals, most are widely accessible. For the Highland Games, Pamplona’s Running of the Bulls, Bastille Day in Paris, or Munich’s Oktoberfest, your biggest challenge is booking a hotel room well in advance. I take you along to all of my favorite festivals in my new Rick Steves' European Festivals book, available now at www.ricksteves.com/festivals-book. (And once you have your destination pinned down, be sure to grab a 2018 guidebook at http://www.ricksteves.com/guidebooks.) Happy travels!

DAY 2: Lucerne - Milan - Venice Hotel: Michelangelo Hotel / Hotel Albatros or similar After breakfast, we'll head south to the design and couture-conscious city of Milan. On our tour of the city you will see Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the oldest shopping arcade in the world; the legendary opera house La Scala; the storied Sforza Castle; and the ostentatious Gothic of Milan Cathedral. DAY 3: Venice - Rome Hotel: Idea Hotel Roma Z3 / Hotel Cristoforo Colombo or similar After breakfast, we'll take you through this fascinating city of ornate palaces, lyrical waterways, captivating churches and impressive architecture. Afterwards, you'll get a chance to see some traditional Venetian craftswork at a demonstration by Murano glassblowers. An optional gondola ride on the Grand Canal will put the finishing touch on a glorious day in Venice. Accommodations in the evening will either be in Rome or a neighboring city. DAY 4: Rome - Vatican City - Arezzo Hotel: Arezzo Park Hotel / Etrusco Arezzo Hotel or similar After breakfast we'll head directly to St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, originally built by Constantine the Great in 324 AD, then reconstructed between 1506 and 1615 under the direction of several famous architects including Bramante, Raphael and Michelangelo. You may also join the optional Sistine Chapel tour to view Michelangelo's famous frescoes. Next you'll see the famous Trevi Fountain, the lavish Baroque showpiece where people flock to throw coins into the water - an action which is said to ensure that you’ll return to the city again one day. After lunch, take a step even further back in time as you visit Italy’s unrivaled Roman relics. An optional guided tour of the Colosseum, built in AD 72, comes highly recommended. History comes to life as you imagine yourself witnessing gladiatorial combat inside the spectacular amphitheatre. You may also choose to walk at your leisure around the outside to admire the facade of this ancient wonder. After the Colosseum, get up close to the nearby Arch of Constantine, which dates back to the fourth century AD, then spend some further free time enjoying Rome, sampling the rich and creamy delights of gelato. After some free time you can either visit Basilique Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri (Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and the Martyrs) near Piazza della Repubblica, or head directly to the nearby Mitsukoshi Department store for some serious shopping. DAY 5: Florence - Pisa - Genoa Hotel: Idea Plus Hotel Savona / Grand Hotel des Anglais or similar On this day you will be introduced to the sights and sounds of Florence, the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. We'll head up to the Piazzale Michelangelo for a panoramic view of Florence, then to a local workshop to see how Florence's fine leather goods are made. Afterwards, we'll set out on foot to the Ponte Vecchio over the Arno River, the Duomo, Giotto's Bell Tower and the Uffizi, which houses one of the finest art collections in the world. At Pisa, our last stop of the day, you will be free to wander; be sure to have your camera ready when you enter the Square of Miracles and the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa, Pisa Cathedral and Baptistery come into full view. We finish our evening by continuing on to Genoa or a city nearby for an overnight stay. DAY 6: Genoa - Monaco - Nice - Cannes - Avignon Hotel: Hotel Campanile Bollene / Kyriad d’Orange or similar A breathtaking drive along one of the most sublime stretches of Mediterranean coastline awaits as we say goodbye to Italy and hello to Monaco. Our walking tour will take us first to the Prince's Palace of Monaco, then on to the Courthouse, the Oceanographic Museum and Saint Nicholas Cathedral, the resting place of Grace Kelly. We'll then travel to the Fragonard Perfume Factory to learn about the perfume-making process. At the end of the guided tour you will be able to purchase one of the fragrances for yourself. Next we'll visit Nice for a sampling of the scrumptious local cuisine. We'll stop over in Cannes to see the Palais des Festivals et des Congres, host of the city's annual international film festival, and then make our way to Avignon Nord to check in to our hotel. DAY 7: Avignon - Paris Take a well-earned rest today as you sit back and enjoy the rustic charm of the French countryside on our journey north to Paris, the Green Line terminus.

Sometimes even when we have friends or a partner to travel with, I think it's important to choose some solo adventures where you're forced to heighten your awareness, your gratitude, your self sufficiency. This is part 4 of a trek I did alone in the Dolomites, a mountain range in the north of Italy. I've lived in Italy for years but had never explored this magnificent area of lakes, picturesque villages, mountains and locals living simply in this remote and natural paradise. I film and edit alone, travelling the world as a one-girl production company with tripods, drones and multiple cameras. Although I am Australian, I have lived in many different countries around the world, including Italy, Japan, the UK, Spain and Monaco. I have studied Italian, Spanish and Japanese and I live in Italy. If you love to travel, film, dream or you're planning to do what I did and quit your job to follow your passion or live an adventure, come find me on social media for daily inspiration & motivation. :) ✩ Instagram https://instagram.com/kylieflavell/ ✩ Facebook https://www.facebook.com/KylieFlavell ✩ Twitter https://twitter.com/kylie_flavell http://kylieflavell.com/

Travel by train in Europe with Trainline

01:01
Discover Europe by train and see a side of Europe you won't see from anywhere else. From mountain ranges through to sleepy coves and bustling towns. Europe by train has something for everyone. You don't see this on a plane Watch our video to see what it’s like to fly around Europe by train. We blended our most popular European train journeys into one Instagram-worthy trip, which you can take to experience the beautiful, the historical, and the jaw-dropping. Fly around Europe by train Flying may give you a bird’s-eye view, but to really get to know a country you need to see it from the ground. From your train window, you can imagine just how tall those snow-capped mountains are, or just how wide that forest stretches, as it whizzes past your carriage window. Travelling by train is an unforgettable part of your trip and something you shouldn’t miss out on. Our European trip – Five countries, four days The adventure begins in Cologne, Germany, as the train heads south through the Rhine Valley and Black Forest. Scenic views of ripe vineyards and flowing rivers are yours for the taking here! Hop across the border and you’re in Swiss Alps territory, travelling the iconic Konstanz to Tirano route. Next up, it’s Tirano, in northern Italy, down to Ventimiglia – via fashion capital Milan, of course. Then, a coast-hugging train ride through the South of France, to Nice – just the ticket for views of traditional French villages, winding all the way down to Marseille. And, for the final leg of the trip, it’s another border crossing into Spain. From Barcelona to Madrid there’s a real change in landscape – we’re talking mountains, plains and even deserts. Find out more and start planning your adventure here: https://www.trainline.eu/information/trains-in-europe Love the poem? It's called From a Railway Carriage by Robert Louis Stevenson. The full version is below: Faster than fairies, faster than witches, Bridges and houses, hedges and ditches; And charging along like troops in a battle, All through the meadows the horses and cattle: All of the sights of the hill and the plain Fly as thick as driving rain; And ever again, in the wink of an eye, Painted stations whistle by. Here is a child who clambers and scrambles, All by himself and gathering brambles; Here is a tramp who stands and gazes; And there is the green for stringing the daisies! Here is a cart run away in the road Lumping along with man and load; And here is a mill and there is a river: Each a glimpse and gone forever!
