9 Symptoms of Bronchitis

07:28
9 Symptoms of Bronchitis Bronchitis is the inflammation of the bronchial passages, the tubes that carry air to and from your lungs, causing their swelling and narrowing. It is caused by viral infection (cold and influenza viruses are the most common causes), or by chemical irritant (from smoking, industrial pollution and gastric acid reflux). Bronchitis is categorised as acute or chronic. Acute bronchitis is common, the complication of colds or flu, and usually improves within a few days of treatment, though the cough may persist for some time. Chronic bronchitis is more serious, with the symptoms recurring for weeks and even months. Should you experience the symptoms for more than a few days, it would be advisable to seek the advice of your medical doctor or health professional. 1. A Severe Cough A hacking cough is probably the most common symptom of bronchitis. Coughing is the body’s way of expelling unwanted dust, germs and other irritants from the throat and bronchial (breathing) passages. Bronchitis, because it causes the inflammation of the bronchial tubes, results in the irritated membranes secreting extra mucus, which coat the surface of the airways and can even block the smaller ones. Coughing is the body’s attempt to expel this excess mucus, reopening the airways and restoring normal air flow to and from the lungs. 2. Production of Sputum In addition to coughing, the bringing up of sputum (phlegm) when coughing is a good indicator that bronchitis is probable. The sputum can be clear white, grey-green or yellowish white. Sputum is the body’s way of collecting, encapsulating and expelling foreign bacteria and viruses from the lungs and bronchial passages. Rarely, the sputum can contain traces of blood but unless this persists it shouldn’t be cause for concern. If however, it persists and increases, you should schedule a visit to you medical doctor or health professional, as it may be the indicator of a more serious condition. 3. Shortness of Breath The function of the bronchial tubes is to allow the flow of air to and from your lungs. When you have bronchitis these tubes become inflamed and narrowed, restricting the airflow. In addition, the build up of mucus in the airways further aggravates the problem. Together these conditions make it harder to breathe, leading to shortness of breath. This is a normal symptom of bronchitis and it is even more noticeable when doing physical activity that requires increased breathing. For this reason excessive physical activity should be avoided while you have bronchitis. 4. Fatigue and Lack of Energy It is common for people with bronchitis to experience fatigue and lowered energy levels. In order to perform at its optimum, your body needs a plentiful supply of oxygen circulated to all the organs and tissues. Bronchitis, because it causes inflammation of the bronchial passages with a resultant restriction of airflow, limits the amount of oxygen flowing into the lungs. Without sufficient oxygen the body will start to slow down, diverting resources to essential areas, like the brain, in order to preserve energy. This can leave one feeling unnaturally tired and lethargic. 5. Fever A fever is the body’s normal response to infection. In order to try and overcome the infection the body raises its temperature in an attempt to kill off the invading bacteria or viruses. The warmer the body becomes, the harder it is for the infection to flourish. With the increased temperature come the chills, the result of the sudden contraction and relaxation of the muscles as the body tries to warm itself up. Bronchitis is generally characterised by a low grade fever and should not be confused with the flu which normally has a more severe fever. 6. Swollen Lymph Nodes 7. Chest Pain and Discomfort 8. Inflamed Bronchial Passages 9. 😱 7 EARLY SIGNS OF LUNG CANCER YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION

04:10
According to a research, almost 40% of patients suffering from cancer were diagnosed when the cancer has evolved in the late 3rd stage, meaning it has already made big progress. This is as it is because lung cancer shows no symptoms and it is hard to notice it in its early stages. Fortunately, there are 7 signs that indicate lung cancer and can help you in diagnosing it before it is too late. 1. Persistent Cough Pay attention to the way you cough. If the cough is gone after one or two weeks, it means you have caught a regular cough due to a respiratory infection or a cold. However, if you suffer from the same cough even after two weeks it might indicate to lung cancer. If you cough out mucus it is mandatory to visit your doctor and make the relevant tests on your lungs and chest, for example: x-rays. If there are some other changes in your cough, such as: cough with hoarse sound, cough with blood or extreme mucus, then you must not waste anymore time and visit your doctor. 2. Being out of Breath Shortness of breath is another lung cancer symptom and it is caused because of two possible things: the first is there is probably a fluid accumulated in your chest as a result of a lung tumor; the second is there is narrowing (blockage) of the airways. Therefore, if due to some daily actions you feel shortness of breath, which did not make you feel like it before, such as bringing groceries, climbing up stairs or some other actions, then it is strongly recommended to visit your doctor. 3. Pain in the chest, back or shoulders Even though pain caused in the above mentioned areas is not often connected with lung cancer, it may be caused as a result of metastasis on the chests, lungs, or enlargement of the lymph nodes or the ribs. It does not matter if you feel healthy, strong, constant or dull, what matters is that you must visit your doctor in order to make sure what is going on with your health condition. 4. Whistling/Wheezing If you notice a wheezing or whistling sound while you breathe, pay a visit to your doctor. However, you must not panic because all those sounds appear when airways are constricted or inflamed. The sounds may be a sign of something easily curable. If the sounds are prolonged then you should visit your doctor for sure. 5. Weight Drop When having lung cancer, you may experience sudden weight drop. This is due to cancer cells using body’s energy that has been obtained from food. 6. Pain in the bones If you are feeling severe pain in the bones or any other part of your back during any time of the day or night, then you need to pay attention to this serious symptom and consult with a doctor. 7. Continuous headache If you are constantly feeling headache then you might be dealing with lung cancer that had spread to the brain. However, headache occurrence may not always be linked with metastases in the brain. This headache may be caused because the lung tumor presses the main vein that transfers blood from the upper part to your heart. How to be able to diagnose lung cancer at early stage? Since x-rays cannot discover lung cancer on time, there are CT scans (computed tomography) which can help in the process of discovering the sneaky disease on time and reducing the possibility of death when dealing with lung cancer. To sum everything up, you should not wait for any kind of sign to occur in order to go to the doctor, make an x-ray or do a CT scan. Any person between 55 and 80 years of age and the ones who have been active smokers in the last 15 years should make the tests as soon as possible in order to prevent lung cancer. Pleurisy: Causes, Symptoms, and Diagnosis

08:09
Pleurisy: Causes, Symptoms, and Diagnosis What is pleurisy? When you breathe, the thin tissues that line your lungs and chest wall, called the pleura, rub together. Typically this isn’t a problem, because the tissue is satiny and generates no friction. However, when this tissue is inflamed or infected, it becomes irritated and swollen, causing significant pain. This condition is known as pleurisy or pleuritis. This condition has a grim fame. It caused the death of a number of historical figures, including Catherine de Medici and Benjamin Franklin. Pleurisy is no longer a common condition. Over the years, antibiotics have been extremely successful in treating and preventing the bacterial infections that historically were the main causes of pleurisy. Nowadays, most cases of pleurisy are the result of a viral infection and deaths from this illness are quite rare. What are the symptoms of pleurisy? The chief symptom associated with pleurisy is a sharp, stabbing pain when you breathe. This pain might go away when you hold your breath or put pressure on the painful area. However, the pain will often get worse when you sneeze, cough, or move. Fever, chills, and loss of appetite are also possible symptoms, depending on the condition that’s causing the pleurisy. Additional symptoms of pleurisy include: pain on one side of your chest pain in your shoulders and back shallow breathing to avoid feeling pain headaches joint pain muscle aches shortness of breath Pleurisy can be accompanied by a fluid buildup that puts pressure on the lungs and causes them to stop working properly. This fluid accumulation is called a pleural effusion. This fluid may initially act like a cushion, causing the chest pain to disappear. A person with a pleural effusion will eventually experience shortness of breath as the fluid increases. An individual may also experience fever, chills, and a dry cough. These symptoms can indicate an infection in the fluid, also called an empyema. What causes pleurisy? Viral infections are the most common cause of pleurisy. Viruses can cause infections in the lungs, which can lead to pleurisy. Other causes of pleurisy include: bacterial pneumonia bronchitis tuberculosis chest wounds rib fractures blunt trauma to the chest wall chest or lung tumors blood clots in the arteries of your lung, also called pulmonary emboli immune system disorders, such as systemic lupus and rheumatoid arthritis sickle cell anemia pancreatitis, a condition in which the pancreas is inflamed heart surgery complications lung cancer lymphoma mesothelioma, which is a cancer caused by asbestos exposure fungal or parasitic infections Diagnosing pleurisy The first priority in diagnosing pleurisy is to determine out the location and cause of the inflammation or swelling. Your doctor will do a physical exam and take your medical history. Your doctor may also order one or more of the following tests: Chest X-rays Chest X-rays will allow your doctor to see if there’s any inflammation in the lungs. Your doctor may also order a decubitus chest X-ray, which is an X-ray taken while you are lying on your side. This allows free fluid to form a layer. A decubitus chest X-ray should confirm if there’s any fluid buildup. Blood tests Blood tests can help to determine if you have an infection, and determine the cause of your infection if you do have one. In addition, blood tests will reveal if you have an immune system disorder. Thoracentesis During a thoracentesis, your doctor will insert a needle into the area of your chest where imaging tests detect fluid. Next, your doctor will remove the fluid and analyze it for the presence of infections. Due to its invasive nature and associated risks, this test is rarely done for the typical case of pleurisy. CT scan To further research any abnormalities found on chest X-rays, your doctor may want to take a series of detailed, cross-sectional images of your chest using a CT scan. The images produced by the CT scan create a detailed picture of the inside of your chest. This allows your doctor to get a closer look at the irritated tissue. Ultrasound In an ultrasound, high-frequency sound waves create an image of the inner portion of your chest cavity. This will allow your doctor to see if there’s any inflammation or fluid buildup. Biopsy A pleural biopsy is useful in determining the cause of your pleurisy. The pleura is the layer of membranes that surrounds your lungs. During the procedure, your doctor will make small incisions in the skin of your chest wall. Next, your doctor will use a needle to remove a small tissue sample of the pleura. This tissue will then be sent to the laboratory to be analyzed for infection, cancer, or tuberculosis. Thoracoscopy

10 Signs and Symptoms of Bronchitis

08:12
10 Signs and Symptoms of Bronchitis A respiratory disease primarily characterized by coughing spells, Bronchitis is caused due to inflammation of the mucus membranes of the lungs. These membranes line the bronchial passage, and when irritated, then to grow thicker, thereby restricting the narrow airways in the lungs. This causes coughing which may be accompanied by phlegm and/or breathlessness. Bronchitis is of two varieties – acute and chronic. Acute bronchitis lasts for anywhere between one to three weeks, post which most symptoms disappear. Chronic bronchitis, on the other hand, lasts for at least three months and occurs recurrently for a minimum of two years. The latter condition is serious for it tends to impede routine functioning in severe cases. With both acute and chronic bronchitis, the symptoms are largely so similar. There are some typical signs and symptoms of this condition, on the appearance of which, one should consult a physician as soon as possible. 1. Coughing Spells The most defining symptom of bronchitis is continual coughing spells. The coughs are usually short and weak, though recurrent in incidence. They are caused due to the constriction of the bronchial passage, caused by the irritation and swelling of mucus membranes. Often patients’, victim to acute bronchitis, do not seek and receive speedy medical attention for they take the symptoms to imply common cold or cough. Though it is usually rest, fluids and in some cases cough medication that physicians prescribe, it is best if the condition is detected early, so as to prevent the possibility of contracting chronic bronchitis. 2. Phlegm In typical cases, the hacking cough is accompanied by phlegm production. The phlegm usually begins to appear after 24 to 48 hours since the onset of coughing. It may be white, yellow or green, though in very severe cases, it may be streaked with red blood too. In the latter situation, immediate medical attention needs be sought. However, in normal cases, cough with phlegm is better for it lessens the discomfort. Otherwise, dry cough calls for the prescription of cough suppressants (so as to prevent disruption of sleep in most cases). 3. Chest Discomfort Often patients of bronchitis, especially chronic bronchitis, complain of discomfort in the chest region. Some experience constriction and heaviness, while others feel pain below the breastbone on taking deep breaths. In case of acute bronchitis, doctors usually recommend the anti-inflammatory pain killers that are prescribed for common colds and cough; they seem to do the needful. In case of chronic bronchitis, suitable medication for long term relief and stability is prescribed to relieve the pain. 4. Wheezing A common symptom of both acute and chronic bronchitis, wheezing is characterized by a whistling sound on exhaling. It is the constriction of the airways that causes this sound and although alarming, it subsides as the coughing spells do. In severe cases however, wheezing occurs in tandem with breathlessness, signalling much swelling of the mucus membranes. In such cases, doctors recommend using inhaled bronchodilators for relief. Those suffering from chronic bronchitis are alerted of aggravation of their condition when wheezing begins. They carry inhalers at all times, in case of an emergency. 5. Breathlessness As mentioned before, breathlessness may also be experienced by bronchitis patients. It is usually in the more severe cases of acute bronchitis and aggravated state of chronic bronchitis that this occurs. Exertion and incessant coughing spells mostly precede the onset of breathlessness. When this begins to happen, doctors typically recommend the usage of inhaled bronchodilators which clear the airways immediately, thus allowing an adequate supply of oxygen to reach the lungs. If one is suffering from such severe bronchial disease, they should have their inhaler handy at all times. Treat Chronic Arthritis Fast and Naturally with ... Breathing Retraining – Interview with Dr. Artour

04:54
Fast and natural treatment for chronic arthritis with 100% success rate for those who retrained their breath In this video, Dr. Artour Rakhimov and Volker Schmitz talk about the relation between arthritis and breathing retraining. Dr. Artour has experience with breathing retraining students that had arthritis. The most common symptom of people with arthritis is having pain in the joints. Dr. Buteyko and other Soviet doctors had thousands of breathing retraining students that had arthritis. They managed to solve this health condition by breathing retraining. The students would slow down their automatic breathing patterns. More about breathing retraining for chronic arthritis: https://www.normalbreathing.com/d/treat-arthritis-fast-natural.php. Most people would not notice a correlation between their breathing to arthritis. Dr. Artour's type of breathing retraining looks to normalize breathing patterns towards the medical norm. These days 97% to 99% of people breathe twice more than the medical norm. This would equal to 6 litres per minute. People do not notice that they breathe too much. The immune system becomes negatively affected from this hyperventilation. By using the measurements of the control pause test, the medical norm should be 40 seconds, but people have 10 to 15 seconds. People with initial stages of arthritis already have reduced oxygen content in their body. This signifies that the immune system is suppressed and is not able to get rid of inflammation. This occurs in a similar way for people with asthma and other inflammatory conditions: https://www.normalbreathing.com/d/chronic-inflammation.php . When people with arthritis train their breathing to the medical norm, they notice that they have less pain. This occurs after only one breathing session that is just 15 to 20 minutes long. The student's breathing becomes slower during the day after a breathing session. In 2 weeks, many students can have an increase of over 5 seconds for the CP test or the body-oxygen test. The CP test is on Dr. Artour's website Normalbreathing.com and he has videos on his YouTube channel describing it in detail. The breathing retraining students notice that their pain is reduced all the time. Eventually, breathing retraining students get 35 to 40 seconds for the CP test. This is a relatively difficult number to achieve. Most other health conditions require a much lower number to eliminate their symptoms. Breathing retraining requires lifestyle changes including physical exercise and other changes. By 35 to 40 seconds on the CP test students have their symptoms completely disappear. When taking x-rays, people with arthritis have many abnormalities in their body. These abnormalities can disappear or become reduced after 2 to 3 weeks of a breathing retraining course. With 40 to 60 seconds on the CP, test these abnormalities would completely disappear. The YouTube URL of this video is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXZcU3_JFLM /. The video features Volker Schmitz and Dr. Artour who was trained by people who worked with the originator of the Buteyko Breathing method, Dr. Konstantin Buteyko. A mountain of scientific research and information about Buteyko Breathing can be found on Dr. Artour’s website, NormalBreathing.com, and Dr. Artour’s books on Buteyko Breathing can be found through Amazon.com.

10 Symptoms of Pneumonia

08:03
10 Symptoms of Pneumonia Pneumonia is a pulmonary condition in which there is inflammation of the alveoli, i.e. the microscopic air sacs in the lungs. Infection by microorganisms (viruses and bacteria of different kinds in most cases), intake of certain drugs, and autoimmune diseases are all potential causes for one contracting this condition. It can affect just about anyone, from infants and children to adults and the elderly. The incidence of death due to pneumonia is highest among the elderly, many of whom succumb to it. Depending on the cause of the infection, pneumonia can be treated effectively as long as it is diagnosed in time. Thus, it is crucial to be aware of the various symptoms of this condition so that if they do manifest, one can seek medical advice and begin treatment. Here is a list of 10 symptoms associated with pneumonia. 1. Fever Most pneumonia patients do contract fever at some point in time during their illness. The fever may be mild or high, depending upon which microorganism is responsible for pneumonia. If the fever is low, over-the-counter medication may in itself be enough to provide relief. In more mild cases, it usually takes two to three days of medication—be it over-the-counter or prescription drugs–to completely subside. If the patient’s temperature exceeds 102 degrees Fahrenheit, consulting a doctor as soon as possible is recommended. 2. Chills Those who have a temperature due to pneumonia also tend to suffer from chills. In cases where the infection is severe, and fever is high, the chills produce an almost violent shuddering in the patient. Keeping the body covered in full clothes and blankets also does not provide much relief. However, if medication is taken timely, the shaking chills are among the first symptoms to disappear. Nonetheless, fever accompanied by chills indicates that the infection is more than mild and thus, self-medication is not a wise option. 3. Cough Another classic symptom of pneumonia is a cough, which may or may not be dry (not producing phlegm). In most cases, coughing is the earliest sign to make an appearance and can last for several days after the course of medication is complete. In cases where phlegm is present, yellowish or green mucus is coughed up. In rare, severe cases, patients may even cough up blood. If the latter scenario occurs, medical help must be sought immediately. If a cough is mild or moderate, cough medicines should be avoided for they decrease the mucus removal that coughing contributes to achieving. 4. Labored Breathing When there is inflammation of the alveoli in pneumonia, their gas-exchanging functionality is naturally compromised. The alveoli are unable to extract sufficient oxygen from the air, which thus produces the feeling of breathlessness. Many times, when shortness of breath is observed in a patient, his or her condition is misdiagnosed as bronchitis, which produces similar symptoms but requires different treatment. When the shortness of breath doesn’t go away, the doctor may then recommend a chest x-ray, which is one of the few definitive ways of distinguishing pneumonia from bronchitis. 5. Chest Pain A very common symptom of pneumonia is chest pain. It usually manifests as either a sharp, stabbing pain or a dull ache, either of which occurs when the patient is inhaling or exhaling. Medically, this is termed “pleuritic chest pain,” which primarily denotes that the linings (pleura) surrounding the lungs are inflamed. When the infection spreads to the pleura, they rub against each other during breathing, thus causing the chest pain. It is typically localized either on the right or left side of the chest, depending upon the site of pneumonia. Dr. Sebi's Cure For Most Deadly Diseases Like AIDS, Cancer, Diabetes, Lupus, Epilepsy & More

Dr. Sebi's approach to cure most deadly diseases on the planet, like AIDS, cancer, diabetes, lupus and epilepsy Alkaline Herbal Medicine: http://amzn.to/2foa3kr Dr. Sebi is a pathologist, biochemist, and herbalist. He passed away on 7th of August 2016 at the age of 82, He was imprisoned in Honduras at the time of death. He came to the U.S. from Honduras with a mission to heal humanity. As it happens, he has been curing some of the most deadly diseases on the planet for almost 30 years. AIDS, cancer, diabetes, lupus and epilepsy are just a few of the ailments which he was able to reverse completely Back in the 1980s, Dr. Sebi ran a variety of ads in newspapers stating, “AIDS has been cured by the Usha Research Institute, and we specialize in cures for Sickle Cell, Lupus, Blindness, Herpes, Cancer and others.” The ad caught the eye of the Food and Drug Administration, and the agency subsequently sued Dr. Sebi for false advertisement and practicing without a license The judge presiding over the case, requested Dr. Sebi to provide one witness for each disease he claimed to have cured. For which he furnished 70 witnesses to support the argument, which proved without a doubt, that he did in truth heal all the diseases listed in the ad, the judge declared the doctor not guilty on all counts Even with his outstanding victory in court, along with testimonials from celebrities and a multitude of people cured by his method, Dr. Sebi’s protocol is still suppressed to this day He explains: “Our research reveals that all manifestation of disease finds it genesis, when and where the mucous membrane has been compromised. For example, if there is excess mucous in the bronchial tubes, the disease is bronchitis. if it is in the lungs, the disease is pneumonia; in the pancreatic duct, it is diabetes; in the joints, arthritis. According to Dr. Sebi, blood and starch in the diet are the main reasons we can be over run with clogging plaque. He believes starch is a chemical that wreaks havoc on health, mainly because it causes acidity within the body. The same is with animal products. On the whole, an acid body will create toxic mucous and congest the system, leading to inflammation. Whereas an alkaline pH will do just the opposite and support vitality Dr. Sebi has recommended the foods for the reversal of disease for over 30 years. We are listing some of them here, If your favorite food is missing from the list, our research and results have proven that it has no nutritional value, and may be detrimental to your health Vegetables which Dr. Sebi recommended are: 3:48 Fruits which Dr. Sebi recommended are: 4:19 So, hope you got an overview on Dr. Sebi's approach to cure most deadly diseases on the planet, like AIDS, cancer, diabetes, lupus and epilepsy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For more health tips visit ► http://www.healthveins.com Follow us on Facebook ► http://www/facebook.com/healthveins Join Facebook Group ► https://www.facebook.com/groups/225183354567275/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Disclaimer: The videos posted by Healthveins are for an educational or informational purpose only, and we are not liable for any harm or side effects if caused. Breastbone Pain

04:41
Breastbone Pain Breastbone pain can be caused by a number of different diseases, conditions and disorders. The goal of this video is to list and describe the most common causes of breastbone pain, along with their symptoms. The breast bone is also known as the sternum. It's a flat bone in the middle of the chest and it serves two main functions: It protects the organs behind it (including the heart and airways) It connect the ribs to each other and to the clavicle (also known as the collar bone). What most patients describe as breastbone pain can occur in the sternum itself, or it can present under the breastbone or to either side. Depending on the cause, breastbone pain can range from "annoying but mild" to "stabbing and intense." Causes of breastbone pain The most common complaint involving pain in the area of the breastbone actually has nothing to with the breast bone at all. It's known as acid reflux. When highly potent stomach acid regurgitates into the esophagus, it can erode the more sensitive tissue at the bottom of the throat. Since the esophagus is directly under the breastbone, the pain can feel as if it's coming from the breast bone. Acid reflux is better known by the more common name of "heartburn." It may also be a form of indigestion. Trauma is a frequent cause of breastbone pain. It's very common in auto accidents where the breastbone absorbs the force of an airbag, a seat belt restraint, or - in older model vehicles - a steering wheel. Fractures of the sternum itself are rare, but injuries can occur at the points where the sternum connects to the ribs. There's a condition called osteochondritis dissecans which sometimes occurs near the end of the breastbone. It is generally caused by trauma and happens more often to young people who are active in sports. The exact causes of this condition are unclear, but it may sometimes be connected to a lack of blood. As we age, joint pain becomes more common in the area of the breastbone and collar bone. When it occurs, it is usually due to arthritis or an inflammatory joint disorder. Joint pain connected to the sternum can also result from straining during exercise, especially if you're lifting weights that are too heavy for you. Muscle pain near the breastbone can also result from exercising too vigorously. Individuals who want to build their pectoral muscles so they can look good at the beach may risk muscle strains and pulls if they're not careful. Organ related causes of breastbone pain Angina, or chest pain related to heart problems, is often felt in the area of the breastbone. There are a number of conditions that trigger pain in this area, including coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction (heart attack), myocarditis and pericarditis. Diseases and conditions of the lungs and respiratory system can also cause pain that seems to be in the breastbone. Bronchitis, tuberculosis and pneumonia are all possibilities. These conditions, however, usually also cause pain in the area around the breastbone, not just in the breastbone itself. Someone with serious breathing difficulties, like emphysema and asthma, may strain the intercostal muscles, which lie between the ribs. This can also be a source of pain near the breastbone. Other causes Someone who is under psychological or mental stress, like panic and anxiety attacks experience pain near the breastbone. Once again, the pain would not be coming from the breastbone itself, but from underlying causes like muscle strain triggered by deep, rapid breathing, or possibly heart issues. Anyone who has recently had surgery of any kind in the area of the chest may feel some residual breastbone pain. Open heart surgery sometimes causes long term pain along the breastbone even after the surgery is over and the patient has recovered. Less common causes of pain in the area of the breastbone might also include acute pancreatitis, hiatal hernia, lung cancer, lung abscess, pleurisy, sarcoidosis, and stomach ulcers, Breastbone pain can occur at any time in life. Most of the time, the underlying cause is not life-threatening. However, if you have breastbone pain that lasts for more than a few days, or seems to be increasing in frequency or intensity, see you doctor for a diagnosis.

Arthritis Care | NSAIDS hide pneumonia

02:05
http://www.arthritistreatmentcenter.com If you’re taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for arthritis pain, heed this next post… NSAID use may mask early pneumonia symptoms Joanna Lyford writing for Medwire News reported people with pneumococcal pneumonia who are taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) at the point of diagnosis tend to develop more severe disease despite being younger and healthier than those not using these drugs, shows research. The team behind the finding hypothesises that NSAID use may mask initial symptoms and delay antimicrobial therapy. “Our data support the need for a prospective and multicenter study to determine if early NSAID use may predispose to worse outcomes in young adults with pneumococcal pneumonia”, write Jean-Damien Ricard (CHU Louis Mourier, Colombes, France) and team in the Journal of Critical Care. Comment: Makes sense but somewhat disconcerting I think http://youtu.be/uwHFv71zCJI

Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Pneumonia is a common infection of the lungs affecting mostly the microscopic air sacs – the alveoli. The function of the respiratory system is to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide between the body and the environment. This process takes place in the alveoli of the lungs. Inhaled oxygen moves from the alveoli into the blood in the capillaries while carbon dioxide relocates from the blood to the alveoli to be exhaled out of the body. In people with pneumonia, these air sacs are filled with fluid or pus, hindering the gas exchange process, resulting in difficulty breathing and a cough reflex. Other symptoms may include chest pain, fever, chills and confusion. Pneumonia is not a single disease. A large number of various organisms can cause pneumonia. Bacterial pneumonia is the most common, with Streptococcus pneumoniae being the main culprit. Viral pneumonia is more common in young children. A variety of viruses are implicated with each of them predominating in different times of the year. Pneumonia commonly starts as an infection of the upper respiratory tract - a cold or flu, which then spreads to the lungs. The most common routes of transmission are through inhalation of contaminated aerosol droplets and aspiration of oral bacteria into the lungs. The setting in which pneumonia develops is an important information as it helps to identify the source of the causative agent and hence the treatment approach. Generally, community-acquired pneumonia is less dangerous than health care-associated, hospital-acquired, or ventilator-associated pneumonia. This is because an infection contracted outside health care facilities is less likely to involve multidrug-resistant bacteria. Patients who are already in hospitals are also most likely to have other health problems and weakened immune system and are thus less able to fight the disease. Pneumonia is often diagnosed based on physical exams and a chest X-ray. Clinical assessment for children is primarily based on a rapid respiratory rate, a cough, presence of lower chest wall indrawing, and the level of consciousness. Adults are usually checked for vital signs and presence of chest crackles – the rattling noise coming from a diseased lung. Bacterial pneumonia is treated with antibiotics. The choice of antibiotics depends on the patient’s age, health conditions and how the infection was acquired. Viral pneumonia caused by influenza viruses may be treated with antiviral drugs. Hospitalization may be required for severe cases with breathing difficulty, especially for young children, the elderly, and those with other health problems.

What Really Causes Asthma (and What You Can Do to Treat It)

57:24
Molds, pollens, air pollution, dust, and many other allergens are thought to be the causes of asthma. This is incorrect thinking. The real cause is a fundamental imbalance in the asthma patient's inflammatory system that can be corrected...in both an immediate and long-term way. Find out how. Chronic Bronchitis vs Emphysema Pathophysiology, Treatment, Nursing, Symptoms | COPD NCLEX Review

10:22
Chronic bronchitis vs emphysema nursing lecture on the pathophysiology, treatment, and symptoms. In this video, I review the similarities between emphysema vs chronic bronchitis and highlight the differences. The biggest differences between chronic bronchitis and emphysema are the pathophysiology and disease specific symptoms. In chronic bronchitis, there is excessive production of mucous and inflammation of the bronchioles. However, in emphysema there is the loss of elasticity of the alveolar sacs. Both conditions lead to respiratory acidosis. However, there is a V/Q mismatch in chronic bronchitis and a matched V/Q defect in emphysema and because of this the body compensates differently. In chronic bronchitis (also called blue bloaters) the patient will have cyanosis and bloating (from hyperinflation and late effects of cor pulmonale). In emphysema (called pink puffers), the patient will have hyperventilation and a barrel chest (no cyanosis due to the hyperventilation). Both conditions are irreversible, caused by inhaling an irritants (mainly smoking), and treated with bronchodilators, corticosteroids, theophylline, or Phosphodiesterase-4 inhibitors. Don't forget to watch the in-depth review on COPD which explains the nursing interventions and side effects of medications. 7 Signs and Symptoms of Pneumonia

06:53
7 Signs and Symptoms of Pneumonia Pneumonia is an inflammation in the tiny air sacs of the lung, called “alveoli”, and most commonly caused by a viral, bacterial, or fungal infection. With millions of patients being hospitalized for this ailment each year it is essential to understand the disease and its symptoms, both for yourself and to recognize in others. The illness normally puts the patient down for the count with no activity for at least a week. It’s a pretty debilitating ailment that literally forces you to rest and lay down for days. It’s spread by contact through air particles, and often totally unrecognizable if you come into contact with someone that you only presume has a cold. Some patients require hospitalization for the lung sickness, and it is incredibly common for those over the age of 60 years old to develop pneumonia easily. An important tool in the quest to stay healthy is acknowledging when your body is displaying symptoms of distress and what they mean. Pneumonia presents itself with a number of symptoms and indicators, which one may observe both at the onset infection, and as the ailment progresses. Here are the 10 signs and symptoms of pneumonia: 1. Cough One of the principal symptoms of pneumonia is coughing. A prolonged cough is often a major indicator in seeking medical intervention. Pneumonia may present itself with two different various types of coughs. The first is a more productive cough, which may produce a small amount of green, yellow, or bloody mucus. While the coughing will bring up phlegm, the patient will not experience a runny nose. This is distinctive as it shows the infection is coming from the lungs, and is not upper respiratory distress, which would produce a runny nose as well. The second type is a dry, racking cough which may scratch the throat. For either variety an over the counter cough suppressant may be used as needed to manage the symptom. 2. Chest Pain Pneumonia may cause intense chest pain for patients, often exasperated by deep breaths or coughing. This may be accompanied by an aching feeling in the chest, even after coughing has subsided. This is a sign that the lining that the lungs may be inflamed or irritated. Each lung is surrounded by a thin sac called the pleura. Pneumonia often causes the pleura to become inflamed, a condition called Pleuritis. Pleuritis is characterized by sharp chest pains that occur with normal breathing. Chest pain, especially this sharp pain while breathing, should not be ignored. Chest pain left untreated can become worse as the infection progresses, and may require hospitalization if left untreated. 3. Shortness of Breath Patients with Pneumonia may experience shortness of breath, or a difficulty in breathing normally. As the infection in the lungs develop, the tissue of the airways can narrow, which makes it more difficult for a sufficient amount of oxygen to enter the lungs. Without the oxygen the lungs need to function, a patient may experience a wheezing sound when trying to draw in breaths. This shortness of breath can disrupt daily tasks, as even walking short distances becomes more difficult without sufficient breaths. Patients should remain cautious to not overexert themselves while displaying shortness of breath or abnormal breathing, as the body will not be able to function at its normal functioning levels during this time. 4. Fatigue As the body uses much of its energy to fight off the pneumonia, patients may be left feeling drained and lethargic. This fatigue leaves the body feeling weak, as it does not have the energy available to both fight serious infection and do daily tasks. A loss of concentration and memory due to lethargy may be observed, particularly in elderly patients. Pneumonia patients are encouraged to get large amounts of rest, to not over exhaust themselves. It is important to listen to the body’s signals that it needs rest, as overexertion can lead to a longer recovery time. A constant state of weariness is the body showing that something is wrong, and should be examined. 5. Digestive Issues 6. Blue Fingertips or Lips 7. Arthritis pain: Five cooking oils to avoid to relieve symptoms in the knee, hip and hands

04:17
If you're new, Subscribe! → https://bit.ly/2sH1zbw  Arthritis affects around 10 million people, young and old, in the UK. Rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis are the two most common types of arthritis, and symptoms include inflammation in and around the joints, warm, red skin over the affected joint, and weakness and muscle wasting. While there is no cure, there are ways proven to ease pain and other symptoms. What you eat can impact your arthritis, and experts believe foods that contain omega-6 fatty acids should be avoided. While omega-3s, found in oily fish, flaxseeds and walnuts, are found to be anti-inflammatory, excess consumption of omega-6s can trigger the body to produce pro-inflammatory chemicals, according to Arthritis Foundation. Omega-6s are found in oils such as corn, safflower, sunflower, soy and vegetable.  Olive oil may be better choice for those with the condition. The research charity adds: “High in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds, olive oils are among the best-studied fats, with many known health benefits. “Extra virgin olive oil, the least refined type, is pressed mechanically rather than processed with heat or chemicals that change its chemical properties. “It contains biologically active compounds - such as the polyphenols oleocantha, oleuropein, hydroxytyrosol and lignans - that have been linked to reduced joint damage in rheumatoid arthritis.” There are more than 100 types of arthritis and they all have risk factors, individual features, behaviours and circumstances that are associated with the condition.  There are risk factors that are not modifiable. That means there is nothing you can do about them. Being female and having a family history of arthritis are two examples of factors that make people more likely - but not certain - to get some types of arthritis. But in contrast, some risk factors are considered to be modifiable. So how can you prevent arthritis in the first place? One of the things to prevent rheumatoid arthritis, a common type of arthritis, is not smoking. Osteoarthritis, another comment type of arthritis, can be prevented by keeping a healthy weight. You can also reduce the risk of gout by eating a healthy diet, low in sugar, and alcohol. Take Me Out presenter Paddy McGuinness revealed he has arthritis this week.  “Nursing a poorly shoulder today,” the 44-year-old posted on Instagram. “I had an ultra sound steroid injection in it yesterday. The reason, arthritis? I’m 44!” Fans reacted to the hit dating show presenter’s news offering support and encouragement. “Arthritis sucks!”, said one. “I’m 48 and had it since I was 25! I feel your pain!” Another user added “I get arthritis every year in my knees. Pain not too bad… my tattoo hurt more, and I’m 34, suffering for four years so far.”

6.2 Bronchial asthma. Symptoms of bronchial asthma.

01:10
Bronchial asthma - a disease in which the airways are narrowed, as increased sensitivity to some factors causing their inflammation; reversible airway narrowing. Symptoms of Bronchial asthma. Asthma attacks vary in frequency and severity. In some patients, symptoms are relatively rare, brief episodes of shortness of breath and light. Other coughing and wheezing disturbed quite often. After viral infections, exercise, exposure to allergens or irritants is followed by severe attacks that can be triggered even cry or laugh. Bronchial asthma attack may begin suddenly with wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath. Rattling particularly audible when a person exhales. In other cases, the attack develops slowly, with a gradual deterioration. He could end up in a few minutes and can last for several hours or days. Early symptom, especially in children, is itching in the chest or neck. Sometimes the only symptom is a dry cough at night or during physical exertion. Severe shortness of breath during an attack scares the patient. Instinctively he sits down and leans forward, straining the muscles of the chest to help breathing, but it does not completely eliminate the feeling of lack of air. This raises the sweating - a characteristic response to stress and anxiety. If the attack is very severe, the patient is able to say only a few words and have to stop to catch his breath. However, in a severe attack, rales may be reduced since air hardly moves from the lungs and the lung. Cputannost, drowsiness and bluish tinge to the skin (cyanosis) - signs that the supply of oxygen significantly reduced and need urgent help. Usually a person is fully recovered even after severe asthma attack. In rare cases, some of the air bubbles of the lungs (alveoli) are broken, allowing air to accumulate in the pleural cavity (the space between the layers of the shell - pleura). This complication is exacerbated shortness of breath.
