Walking is a totally free, easy exercise that requires little effort, and benefits not only your physical but also your mental well-being. If you’re looking for a simple yet very effective way of losing weight and improving your overall health, walking is something just for you. People who are physically active throughout their life are much less prone to this disease than those who have a more sedentary lifestyle. And that’s because they have more volume in their hippocampus, the part of the brain responsible for verbal memory and learning. A daily half-hour walk helps avoid serious problems, like coronary heart disease to name one, by lowering high blood pressure and cholesterol levels and improving blood circulation. Because of better-quality and deeper breathing, some symptoms associated with lung disease can show significant improvement thanks to walking. Muscle tone and weight loss is also totally achievable through simple walking. Find your optimal pace, but don’t break out into a jog. This sort of speed walking is low impact and doesn’t require any recovery time, which means no sore muscles to keep you from getting out and walking the next day. The Arthritis Foundation recommends at least 30 minutes of moderate walking a day to reduce pain, stiffness, and inflammation in the joints. Despite what religion may say, none of us actually know what will happen once we die. One of the factors that bring in a lot of anxiety is what will happen to our body. There are about ten stages of death all together, and learning about them is enough to make anyone queasy, but it shouldn’t matter about it happening to you because, well, you’ll be dead. While we don’t know as to whether our consciousness survives, if we go to heaven, linger on the earth, or just cease to exist, science can at least answer the physical questions about what happens to our body. Unfortunately, science’s answers about physical death doesn’t do much to comfort a grieving family, or give peace to someone who may be fearing death to an extreme. But, the simple fact is that we will all eventually die, hopefully after living long and fulfilling lives. When death begins, you no longer have the ability to cough or swallow. Therefore, you’re unable to get rid of the mucus in your lungs and you’ll start to produce the classic and well known “death rattle” when you breathe. Once you die, your organs will no longer be receiving oxygen, and they will begin to shut down. When all of your organs are dead, then you will be officially dead. But the death cycle does not stop there, the next stage is livor mortis, where the blood is no longer flowing and will begin to pool and cause a red/blue color in the skin. Cell death soon follows, as cells break down for not having any more ATP being produced by the liver and no oxygen is flowing through the body. Since there is no blood flow, rigor mortis will take place, where the muscles will stiffen. The corpse may end up making squealing or moaning noises from the vocal chords stiffening up as well. Purge fluid will also come up from the nose and mouth, which is simply a reddish-brown fluid that is often mistaken for blood. While the cells break down, they will emit a chemical that will break down the rest of the cells in your body causing putrefaction. Decomposition soon follows where the body will bloat from the cadaverine and putrescine. Soon, your body then begins to dry up and fluids are lost. This is what the ancient Egyptians were trying to achieve in mummification by bypassing the stages of death and jumping straight to the loss of fluids. The final stages of death include your skin and organs drying up and falling apart off your skeleton. Bugs and other friends of nature may feast on your body for the last remaining nutrients that you have. Eventually, you will be reduced to nothing more than a skeleton, and your death cycle is complete. The heart muscle cannot pump properly, and the tissue begins to die quickly. About 735,000 Americans have a heart attack each year. However, only about 27% of people know all the symptoms of the urgency of a heart attack. Recognizing the signs of a heart attack and get to the hospital immediately can mean the difference between survival, irreversible tissue damage, and death. If you have any doubt about whether the pain you are experiencing a heart attack, seek medical help immediately. Signs before a heart attack 1 Pay attention to chest pain A chest pain, whether acute or dull, is the most common sign of a heart attack. People who have heart attacks often say they feel squeezing, fullness, pressure, stress or a strong feeling in the center or left side of the chest. This feeling may last a few minutes or more, or go away and come back later. 2 Check that the discomfort in the upper body Sometimes the pain of a heart attack radiates from the chest area outward, causing discomfort in the neck, jaw, abdomen, upper back, and left arm. Your body feels weak because the arteries narrowing is experiencing, which means less blood flow and circulation. This leads to weakened muscles that could cause it to fall more easily. This symptom is a big red flag, so be careful if you are experiencing bodily weakness. 4 dizziness and cold sweats Dizziness and cold sweats are another sign that something is terribly wrong, such as poor blood circulation in the body part of blood flow to the brain are cut off. This restriction of blood flow is something to consider, as your body will feel sticky and discomfort. Your brain needs adequate blood flow to function properly and feels healthy. This can be because of faster metabolisms, more robust good bacteria, or the quantity of food they eat. If you are eliminating more than 3 times a day, you are entering into the world of diarrhea which I will address next. Some people will say if you go every couple of days it's fine, but I disagree. This one of our body's greatest ways to eliminate toxins, acids and other stuff, so it's best to do daily. 2. Form This is important, and it isn't talked about often. We want to be sure our poops are well formed. This ensures we've digested and assimilated the nutrients from our food, and are eliminating acids and toxins properly. Type 1: Separate hard lumps, like little balls (hard to pass) Type 2: Sausage-shaped, but lumpy Type 3: Like a sausage but with cracks on its surface Type 4: Like a sausage or snake, smooth and soft Type 5: Soft blobs with clear cut edges (passed easily) Type 6: Fluffy pieces with ragged edges, a mushy stool Type 7: Watery, no solid pieces. Everyone knows how important sleep is for keeping in good physical and mental health. However, how long you sleep is just as important as the way you sleep. The position you sleep in can affect your health, help keep your skin looking young, and boost your digestive health. Here are six ways sleeping on your left side is good for your health. 1. It Bolsters the Lymphatic System Ayurvedic medicine says that sleeping on your left side lets your body better filter lymph fluid and waste through the lymph nodes. This is because the left side of our body is the stronger lymphatic side. Western studies also found that sleeping on the left side can help the body break down waste materials from the brain. However, sleeping on the right side can lower the lymphatic system’s power. 2. It May Improve Digestion When it comes to digestion, sleeping on the left side may be better than the right, because of gravity. Lying on the left side lets food waste easily move from the large intestine into the lower colon, meaning you’re more likely to have a bowel movement when you wake up. Sleeping on the left side lets the stomach and pancreas hang naturally because our stomach lies on the left side of the body. This can make sure the body keeps creating pancreatic enzymes and will help other digestive processes. 3. It’s Good for Your Heart Doctors advise that pregnant women sleep on their left side to boost circulation to the heart. Even if you’re not pregnant, or a woman, sleeping on the left side may help take some weight off the heart. Gravity can help lymph drainage toward the heart, and aortic circulation away from the heart. 4. It’s Ideal for Pregnant Women Sleeping on the left side doesn’t only boost pregnant women’s circulation. The help comes very fast; if you’re feeling heartburn after a meal, try lying down on your left side for ten minutes. 6. It May Relieve Back Pain People with chronic back pain may feel a little better if they switch to sleeping on their left side. That’s because sleeping on your side can ease weight on the spine. Feeling more comfortable will raise your chances of getting a good night’s sleep. If you usually sleep on your back, your front, or your right side, you may wonder how to break that habit and start sleeping on your left side. It will take some time and practice, but you will be able to quickly train your body to sleep in this position. Here are some tips: You can try lying on your left side and press a full-length body pillow up against your back. The pillow will stop you from rolling over during the night. Try switching the side of the bed you sleep on. This will make it easier for you to flip to your other side and have the same great sleep. Another trick is to keep a dim light lit on your right side. Because your body will naturally want to turn away from the light while you sleep, it will make it easier for you to sleep on your left side. Try these small changes as soon as you can - they will make your sleep better and lead you to better health. Protect Neck Muscles And Bones Sleeping Wrong Calcium Gets Into Bones When I don't change my whole house water filter, too much calcium gets into my water and gets into my body through the shower and by way of drinking it. Shower water that comes from city water has calcium in it from the calcium chloride (chlorine bleach) that the city treats the water with. When my water filter gets too clogged up I get a stiff neck and the bones in my neck crack. Also when sleeping if your head it turned to the side all night long, this places a lot of stress on the bones in the neck. The arteries in the neck are also compromised by this sleeping position. I try and protect my neck from the shower water and also when sleeping. Sleeping in a good, comfortable position through the night is healthier. Plastic Surgery to Look Like Melania Trump? Find out Why Claudia Chose to do so! HOUSTON – For Claudia Sierra, years of bullying and teasing about her looks took a toll on the mother of two. “Being bullied for my skin color, my nose, my heritage, my hair, my everything, and I would make fun of my own self with these kids that would make fun of me, and I brought it up all the way to an adult,” Sierra said. Sierra said the bullying even carried over into romantic relationships. “It was natural for me to be abused in relationships,” she said. “And then it went a step further, where the mental and the abuse words were not working, so this particular person thought, well, let me toss her around. I had a bar stool smashed on my head. I mean, on my nose, and it popped.” A survivor of domestic violence, Sierra also beat breast cancer. Even after celebrating those victories, she continued to endure criticism about her appearance. One conversation in particular made her decide she was ready change the way she looked. “I went on a date, and this man asked for my driver’s license to confirm my age, and I said, ‘I’m 41,’ and I was so excited about it,” Sierra said. “I had just finished having breast cancer, did the radiation. It was one of my first dates. I was super-excited. He looked at (my ID) and said, ‘You look a lot older than that.’” She went to Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Franklin Rose for consultation. “I said, ‘Dr. Rose, I want you to change everything that has mentally hurt me. And I don’t want to feel or look at that person anymore,’” Sierra said. “When you have cancer, there’s a lot of sleep that is lost. And I felt a little weak, and I didn’t look rested, so we pulled my cheeks back. We did kind of like a semi-facelift right here.” Dr. Rose removed a bump in her nose, gave her breast implants, a tummy tuck and sculpted her abs. “I feel like a woman again,” Sierra said. Sierra said the entire makeover was inspired by a famous first lady: Melania Trump. Sierra’s surgeries were chronicled by television show Inside Edition and made headlines in the New York Daily News, turning her story into a media sensation and creating a backlash. “I said I was inspired by her. I never said I wanted to look exactly like her,” Sierra said. “Melania Trump is Melania Trump, and Claudia Sierra is Claudia Sierra.” Once people got wind of the story, Sierra said the bullying started again – this time on social media. “Every night, at 3 or 4 in the morning, for some reason I wake up and I’ve got Google alerts, and I’ve got messages from random friends, and they’re like, ‘Gosh, can you believe what they’re saying? Can you believe, can you believe? Claudia, you’re just getting bashed. Did you see this picture they put out on you?'” When asked what she wants people to really know about her, Sierra’s response was simple. “I feel so good, and I’m so healthy, and I wish the people that are judging me and insulting me would say, ‘You know what, if I could, I would.’ Let me enjoy it. Let me have this moment,” she said. Sierra said although hurtful, the entire ordeal has made her stronger. She said she now plans to write a book on bullying and use it to encourage children and adults who have been bullied, as well as help women who have been the victims of domestic abuse. Lawrence and Anna G. are New Mexico through and through. They grew up in Taos and Los Alamos, where they still reside. Their families have worked the land in those areas since before New Mexico was a state. They understand the meaning of sticking together and looking out for each other. When Lawrence was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in early 2014, he and Anna wanted to find the best treatment possible, even if it meant traveling out of state. The land and the water and the family, the familia, you know those are just really strong, strong cultural beliefs and roots that just strengthen Northern New Mexico. Lawrence: It was quick news that we all helped each other, you know that’s what you get in Northern New Mexico. Anna: Your stomach drops, you just have like the weirdest feeling that goes through your body. You think, really? Oh my gosh, this is real. We’re really here. Lawrence: You know, your whole life just flashes before you and you’re like. Just to hear the C-word. Anna: It was very difficult, it was challenging, different. It’s something, you know, you don’t expect to face in life. Lawrence: She gave us some options and I said, “Doc, if it was you, who would you go to?” I felt we made the right selection. I couldn’t be happier with UNM Cancer Center and Dr. Spafford and his staff. Anna: You know, one thing that I’ll always remember is during surgery, when he was in surgery, my phone rang and it was a number I didn’t know. It was the nurses calling me from the operating room to tell me, “Just so you know, everything’s fine, it’s taking a lot longer than we expected. Dr. Spafford is very meticulous and it’s a very meticulous job that he’s doing so we’re in here longer but Lawrence is fine.” So that was another surprise I did not expect. I did not expect any communication from an OR nurse directly in the OR, so that was amazing. Lawrence: That’s why I keep on saying that I was blessed in the right choices going to UNM. Anna: He comes up with these ideas and I think, oh my gosh, this is another crazy idea but then we end up having a really good time. Lawrence: You have one life to live. Anna: It was a dream, you always wanted one. Lawrence: My dad, growing up on a farm down here and growing up in Las Alamos, my brothers had Chevelles at the time, I really never got my real muscle car. So this car came about and it’s just been something I’ve always wanted all my life. Life each day like it’s the last and each night like it’s the first, you know? Anna: And another thing he always says is do it right or don’t do it at all. You know, so I felt like we did this right. I really do. Lawrence: I don’t wanna waste any minute of this life.

Hi guys! Another day, another video! Day 2 of Week 5 already up for me now! i’m trying to get an early night tonight as i’ve got a long day tomorrow, my girlfriend Ellen who is visiting HK, this week,is taking me to radiation tomorrow morning so that my mum can have a day off and have some fun with her girlfriends too! and after radiation we’re going to go to visit the Chi Lin Nunnery over on Kowloon side where its very peaceful with beautiful gardens, and pagodas and waterfalls. There’s a delicious and great value vegetarian restaurant INSIDE a waterfall! its beautiful to look out the windows at the cascading water! Great news that i forgot to mention in the video is that I GOT MY PERIOD THIS MORNING! (Sorry to the men watching, again) I’m so happy as this means my menstrual cycle and endocrine system is still functioning and is not so disturbed as it could be! My period was due originally last Thursday so i’m just a few days late. So that was a great surprise to wake up to this morning! especially as i mentioned it in the video yesterday too! Also i seem to have sorted out my right ear which was getting seriously dry and crackly, i’ve been putting Wheatgerm oil on it over the past 2 days. i thought it was too late to rescue it but it seems to be working! it feels almost like a normal ear again so thats fantastic! maybe it won’t even peel with any luck!! I explain in today’s video about franckinscense oil which i dissolve into my epsom salt baths, for ultimate relaxation but ALSO because franckinscence oil has had success in crossing the blood brain barrier so some brain cancer patients take Boswellia supplements (Boswelia is the name of the plant which Franckinscense is derived from) which studies have shown does help some patients. Obviously every individual is different and not all alternative therapies work for everyone, There’s no “one size fits all” ticket which works for everyone unfortunately when it comes to alternative remedies for cancer. Which i’ve read was also the case for chemotherapy and radiation back in the 40s, they never before then mixed different types of chemotherapy, until they discovered that actually mixing chemotherapy agents could have a more powerful combined effect! And look, i’m even undergoing chemotherapy AND radiation at the same time, which before the 50s was considered a total no-go area in conventional cancer treatment. 4 Things Your Hair Says About Your Health ! HOW TO STOP HAIR LOSS. Your hair is useful for a lot more than looking fabulous; it can also reveal a great deal about what’s going on inside your body. Seriously, you’d be surprised at how many issues your hair’s condition can indicate. You just need to know what to look for. Without further ado, let’s dive right into today’s list of 4 common hair troubles and what they mean. #1. Thinning, Stress. Under normal circumstances, your hair falls out long after it’s stopped growing. Stress disrupts this process, making hair fall out as it’s still growing. This leaves you with patches of bald spots. This effect can take between three and six weeks to appear. So if you notice your hair has begun to thin, think back and try to pinpoint any stressful situation that happened recently. Then, make a plan to deal with stress better in the future – after all, it affects much more than your hair ! #2. Dull, Brittle Hair, Nutrition Problems. “If you’re eating a highly processed diet, any nutrients you do get are shuttled to your body’s crucial operations, like your heart and other organs,” says dietitian Wendy Bazilian. In other words, those nutrients won’t get to your hair, which needs them to stay strong and healthy. One bad meal won’t wreck your hair; you’ll need to eat junk habitually to see that effect. Bazilian also says that a deficiency in dietary fat can actually prevent your hair from absorbing nutrients like vitamin D. Make sure you’re getting enough healthy fats, like omega-3 fatty acids and monosaturated fats. Dehydration can also spark hair loss; your hair is actually one quarter water. Water is the primary energy source for hair cells, including those responsible for generating new hair. Make sure you’ve covered in both areas – diet and hydration – for healthy hair. #3. Crown Hair Loss, Too Much Dihydrotestosterone If you’re losing clumps around your crown and simultaneously gaining fat around your stomach, abnormally high levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) could be to blame. In men, an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase transforms testosterone into DHT. Some men are especially sensitive to DHT. In those men, the hormone attacks hair follicles and produces crown hair loss. In some women, a hormone called DHEA has the same effect, converting testosterone into DHT. There are a number of natural foods you can take to block DHT, including: Green tea, Saw palmetto, Giant dodder, Pumpkin seed. #4. Seemingly Random Bald Patches: Trichotillomania. Trichotillomania is a condition characterized by a compulsion to pull one’s hair out. It’s an impulse control disorder that typically flares up during moments of stress or perceived failure. Some trichotillomania suffers don’t actually realize they’re pulling out their hair. If you notice random bald patches on your head, you might want to pay attention to what you do with your hands during stressful moments – watch out for hair rubbing and tugging. It's not always easy to say the right thing in difficult situations. It's a dream, but it's a dream I'm going to help you turn into a reality. Today what we're going to look at is nine words... ten words to give you to use in conversations that you might find difficult in English that no one else has given you. I will give you some situations that you could use these words in, and then we're going to play, have a little bit of fun. Okay? It's something you can do by yourself, you can do it with a friend, or a group, and it will help you become more creative and a lot better with English, more like a native speaker because you'll understand what these words are and how to use them appropriately. And I'll start off with the words first. Let's look at the word "confess". When you confess something it means you must give the truth or tell the truth about something, something that someone hasn't known, you will have to tell them. Right? I have to confess that I like yellow and I'm wearing yellow underwear. You didn't know, it's hidden, but now you know. "Resolve", it means to find a way. If you resolve to do something, you want to resolve, you have decided to do something and you've got a strong... A strong desire to do it. A resolve to lose 15 pounds means I've made a promise to myself to work towards that to do that. "Regret". Regret, you say you're sorry, and it means I feel bad about it. When you regret you wish you didn't do it. I regret breaking off with a girlfriend five years ago because she would have made the perfect wife. I regret. "Condolences", use this one what we call sparingly, which means don't use it a lot. Condolences... Or the word "condolence" is usually reserved for death. Okay? So, when you say "condolence", if you say: "I give my condolences", you wouldn't say that if someone lost their job. "Oh, you lost your job? My condolences." They're not dying. They just don't have work. Okay? They have a future. But if you hear someone is really sick, they have cancer, serious cancer or their parent or someone that they know has died, then you would say: "I offer my condolences." You can even use it for a pet, if their dog that they've had for ten years has died, offer condolences. It means I'm extremely, extremely sorry that this has happened to you. Okay? "Empathize". "Empathy" is to feel like someone else. "Empathize" is to... We can understand and have... Share the emotion with you. We have that empathy. And I say, I see a poor person on the street, and someone says: "Look, they're lazy." I go: "Can't you empathize? Imagine what it would be like. Feel what they feel." "Mend". "Mend" means to fix, fix something. You want to mend it. You can mend a relationship. If you're fighting: We need to mend this relationship. All right? We need to make it better, fix it. If you break your arm and it's fixed, the arm is mended, you go your arm will mend; fix. I like "disillusion". "An illusion" is something you think is true, but it's not. It's an illusion. An Easy Colorectal Cancer FIT Test : Prevention You Can Live With!

Three lives touched by a personalized intervention & prevention strategy, the FIT test; three colon cancer patients diagnosed at different stages, three positive outcomes, but a single expression of gratitude. Cancer survivor Christopher Springmann spoke at the recent Oregon Colorectal Cancer Roundtable in Portland, sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Francine Boullosa: I was handed a FIT test and said, hey, it's time for you to have this. It's been a year since your last one. Christopher Springmann: The FIT test is very straightforward. I pulled a little device out of a container and coated the end with my feces, put it back in the container, put that in a biohazard bag, and mailed it off. And actually, the whole process was about that fast. Thomas Foeller: It’s easy, simple, and can save your darn life. CS: I was at stage 1. FB: A level 3 tumor. TF: I had a large, large tumor. CS: I didn't have to have radiation or chemotherapy. TF: I started chemo and radiation. FB: Chemotherapy and radiation. CS: Terrific. TF: I’ve been cancer-free for nine years now. CS: The prognosis going forward is very positive. FB: I clearly remember a call from the radiation oncologist. Francine, I'm looking at your pathology report, and it is fantastic. CS: I am living a regular life. FB: I'm so grateful for the medical assistant who handed me the kit as I was leaving. Your action, handing me that kit, saved my life. TF: Been given a second chance. Appreciate that. CS: Just knowing that I'll have a FIT test 12 months after the surgery gives me great peace of mind. TF: I’m living my dream. CS: I sleep very well at night now. It's nice. FB: I advocate screening my family-- I have-- and my friends. CS: I tell everyone. TF: One thing that's really important to remember about colorectal cancer is that it's highly preventable, treatable, and beatable. FB: Motivate other people to do this simple test. TF: But you've got to get screened early enough to get this stuff taken care of. FB: You have a lot of dimensions and responsibility for ourselves and our lives. And this is only one, but it's an important one. CS: Because I've done health and medical broadcasting for years, I've always been proselytizing. But now as a patient who's been on the other side of the knife, I'm a true believer. I have taken the oath! The fecal immunochemical test (FIT) is often prescribed yearly as an adjunct to a colonoscopy, which is typically done every five years, both depending on the patient’s medical history. “The FIT test acts as an ‘early-warning’ of possible polyps in the colon, which may-or-may not be cancerous,” said Springmann. “I was 2-1/2 years into the five year window for my next colonoscopy when I had the FIT test, which led to the discovery of a Stage 1 cancerous polyp. If Northwest Permanente (Kaiser) hadn’t had this proactive testing program, I could have waited another 2-1/2 years for the next colonoscopy. Imagine what the diagnosis might have been.”
