Prostate Cancer Prevention - 7 Ways to Protect your prostate Naturally

03:40
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men in the United-States. The prostate is a walnut-sized gland behind the base of a man’s penis and below the urinary bladder. Its function is to make seminal fluid, which is the liquid in semen that protects, supports, and helps transport sperm. In this video will talk about some of the natural ways to reduce your risk of prostate-cancer. 1.Learn about personal risk factors. Some of the major personal risk factors for prostate cancer are age and family history. The risk of prostate cancer increases the older you get. Although approximately 75% of the cases of prostate-cancer have no pattern or order, about 20% of those with prostate-cancer have had cases of the disease in their family previously. More than 80% of prostate-cancers are diagnosed in men over the age of 65. 2.Exercise regularly. One great way to possibly reduce the risk of prostate-cancer is to exercise. Some studies even indicate that your risk of cancer decreases further the more vigorous you exercise. You should do aerobic-exercise at least 30 minutes per day for 5-6 days out of the week. 3.Have sex more often. Another way that you can reduce your risk of prostate-cancer is to have more sex. According to an Australian study, if you masturbate 3 or more times per week, you are 34% less likely to develop prostate-cancer by age 70. Along the same lines, sex also counts toward the total number of weekly ejaculations. • The finding could be explained by the flushing out of cancer-causing agents during ejaculation 3.Reduce the amount of fat you eat. You can reduce your risk of prostate-cancer by making dietary changes. In order to help lower your chance of getting prostate-cancer, you should eat a diet that is low in fat. According to numerous studies, there is an established link between a diet high in saturated-fat and the development of prostate-cancer. • In general, fats should not exceed 30% of total daily-caloric intake 4.Increase your soy intake. Increasing the consumption of soy products is another dietary option to consider to reduce the risk of prostate-cancer. Soy products contain isoflavones, which are natural compounds that act like estrogens. In laboratory tests, they have been proven to inhibit the growth of prostate-cancer cells. • Try to incorporate soy products such as soymilk, tempeh, miso, and tofu into your diet. 5.Brew green tea. Drinking green-tea may also reduce the risk of prostate-cancer. Brewed green-tea contains high levels of polyphenol compounds, particularly catechins, that may be protective against prostate-cancer. Try to brew yourself a cup with breakfast or lunch to help lower your risk of cancer 6.Increase natural vitamins and minerals. There are some supplements that will naturally help you fight prostate-cancer. Naturally occurring folate, a B vitamin, has been shown to reduce the risk of prostate-cancer. You should not take folic-acid, which is a synthetic form of folate, because it has been found to increase the risk of prostate-cancer. At What Age and How Often Should You Get Your Prostate Screened?

04:12
Prostate cancer is very survivable if caught early. As is the case with most cancers, early detection is key. But there is a lot of conflicting information out there on when men should be screened. Those with a family history of prostate cancer should be screened much earlier and more often. That goes without saying. But many men are reluctant to be screened, or just don't think it can happen to them. But it can. In this video, Dr. Bevan-Thomas talks in-depth about prostate cancer screening guidelines and what they mean for you. How Common is Prostate Cancer?

04:52
The idea of being diagnosed with prostate cancer may be daunting. Many men that have had prostate cancer in their family have asked us, “How common is prostate cancer?” Unfortunately, prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in America. Today, 1 in 7 men will be diagnosed with this disease. According to Urologist Dr. David Albala, “Approximately 230,000 men will be diagnosed this year and about 20,000 to 25,000 men will die of their disease.” The best thing you can do for your health is to undergo a digital rectal exam and a blood test called a prostatic-specific antigen or PSA if you are between 55 - 64 years of age. Dr. Albala discusses prostate cancer, PSA testing and how common this disease really is in the video above. Signs And Symptoms of Prostate Cancer

10:05
Warning Signs of Prostate Cancer. Sadly, many men don't find out they have prostate cancer until the cancer has spread, nci prostate cancer making it more difficult to treat. This is because in the early stages, prostate cancer often doesn't have many symptoms. That's a problem because prostate cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in American men, after skin cancer, you must advanced prostate cancer symptoms. 1, Difficulty urinating. This may take the form of feeling like you have to go and then nothing comes out, stopping midstream, or having to go more often. Another sign is difficulty stopping, which often takes the form of extended dribbling, or the feeling that you still have to go even when you're done. Because the prostate gland surrounds the urethra. the tube that carries both urine and semen -- even a very small tumor in this location can interfere with urination or ejaculation. Bear in mind, however, that the prostate gland becomes enlarged in many men as they age, and this enlargement, known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), is the more likely cause of urinary problems and get best treatment for prostate cancer. 2, Pain while urinating. Again, the problem may be a prostate tumor pressing on the urethra. treatment of prostate cancer However, pain while urinating is a classic symptom of infection in the urinary tract. It can also signal an infection of the prostate, known as prostatitis. 3, Blood in the urine. facts about prostate cancer This sign is less common, and it's a reason to go straight to the doctor. It doesn't have to be very much blood; all you might notice is a pinkish tint or smear. Blood in the urine is often caused by infections in the bladder or prostate, by kidney stones, and by BPH. However, in some cases it's due to a tumor in the prostate, bladder, or kidney. 4, Difficulty getting or keeping an erection. Yes, this one's really hard to talk about. But if it's not happening when you want it to, or things get stuck "half-mast," it's time for a checkup. (Female partners need to tread delicately around this one, but if it's happening often enough to interfere with your s3x life on a regular basis, prostate cancer medicine find a moment to introduce the subject in a kind and nonthreatening way.) 5, Blood in the semen. This sign, like blood in the urine (#3), is often not described very clearly. It's not a large amount of blood, more like just enough to make semen pinkish or streaked, according to men with prostate cancer. prostate cancer drugs Gals, you can help with this one too; if you notice an odd color to semen after s3x, speak up. 6, Chronic constipation and other intestinal issues. The prostate gland is located below the bladder and in front of the rectum, so a tumor in this location can interfere with digestive functions. However, it's sort of a chicken-and-egg situation; chronic constipation can contribute to an enlarged prostate by putting pressure on the gland, and vice versa. Chronic constipation and intestinal problems can also be early indicators of colon cancer. 7, Frequent pain in the lower back, hips, or upper thighs. The most common sites for prostate cancer to spread are the lower back, pelvis, and hips. Unexplained pain and tenderness in these areas are signs of trouble. One way to distinguish this type of pain from run-of-the-mill sciatica and lower back pain is that it may feel deeper and more like a dull ache. However, experts say any lower back or hip pain that doesn't go away is a reason to see the doctor. 8, Having to pee in the middle of the night. This is one of the sly symptoms that men diagnosed with prostate cancer say they remember, now that they look back. If you find yourself waking more than once a night urgently needing to go, a trip to the doctor is in order. Bear in mind, though, that this symptom is far more likely to be caused by BPH or an overactive bladder than by prostate cancer. 9, Leaking or dribbling urine. Here's one almost no one talks about, but we need to. It's basically the male version of urinary incontinence, which typically occurs on a small but still noticeable scale. symptoms of prostate cancer Longer bathroom trips while you wait for the dribbling to stop or leakage on the way to the bathroom are the telltale signs. Women, if while doing the laundry you notice that his pants or jeans smell like pee, delicately suggest a visit to the doctor. 10, You're over 50 and have risk factors. Since early prostate cancer most often has no symptoms at all, men who are at risk need to talk to their doctors and consider having regular PSA tests and rectal exams (sorry!), whether they notice anything odd happening or not. Family history -- especially a father who had prostate cancer -- being overweight, eating a high-fat diet, being of African-American descent, and smoking all increase your risk of prostate cancer. Choosing the Right Prostate Cancer Treatment

07:08
There are many things to consider when trying to choose the prostate cancer treatment that is right for you. Most men diagnosed with prostate cancer haven't had the disease spread beyond the gland and may be classified as low risk. How to Identify the Causes of Prostate Cancer

01:15
Watch more Cancer & Disease Prevention videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/429875-How-to-Identify-the-Causes-of-Prostate-Cancer Understanding the causes of prostate cancer means coming to grips with the risk factors for the disease. Knowing your risk factors may put your mind at ease. Step 1: Know role of age Know that the risk of developing prostate cancer increases with age. The disease is most common in men over 65. Tip Prostate cancer occurs when cells in the prostate gland become abnormal, mutate, and accumulate to form a tumor that grows and invades surrounding tissue. Step 2: Understand the role of race Understand that black men have a greater risk of developing the disease than men of other races. The reason for this is not known. Step 3: Be aware of heredity Be aware that prostate cancer runs in families. If men in your family are prone to the disease, there is an increased likelihood that you may get it as well. Step 4: Recognize the role of obesity Recognize that obesity increases your risk of developing advanced prostate cancer -- the most difficult form of the disease to treat. So take note -- this is one risk factor that you have some control over. Did You Know? In 2006, 28,373 men in the United States died of prostate cancer.

What are the Signs and Symptoms of Prostate Cancer?

02:34
Find out the signs and symptoms of prostate cancer from Cancer Research UK. Learn how prostate cancer is diagnosed and the tests needed to find out. http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/prostate-cancer/symptoms In the video, Dr. Vincent Gnanapragasm from Cambridge University talks us through prostate cancer symptoms, signs and types: "As the most common cancer in men understanding Prostate Cancer is vital. So I’ve come to Cambridge University hospital to speak with Dr. Vincent Gnanapragasam to find out how they go about diagnosing this common cancer. Well Vincent, Prostate Cancer is notoriously difficult to diagnose isn’t it. Indeed, in fact Prostate Cancer most often has no symptoms. A man might go to his GP because he has notice a change in his urinary symptoms, getting up at night maybe or having difficulty passing water. And most often that’s due to a normal enlargement of the prostate as he gets older. In fact prostate cancer doesn’t cause any symptoms unless it is very advanced. In which case it might mimic some of those symptoms of an obstructed or large prostate. But if there are any concerns the first step is to go and see your GP who can then investigate further. What would your GP do? - Take a history - Do a physical examination - PSA blood test So what would your GP do? Most often they’ll take a history from you, do an examination of the prostate and do a PSA blood test. What is a PSA test? So PSA stand for Prostate Specific Antigene. It’s produced by the prostate gland and it’s a marker for the presence of Prostate Cancer. However it can also be raised by other conditions so it’s not a very specific marker but it’s the first test that we can do to see whether we should proceed to further investigations. What is a PSA test? A blood test that measures the amount of prostate specific antigen (PSA) in your blood. So what happens if you get sent to the hospital for an examination? The specialist will see you, again take a history and an examination and then most often what they will do is arrange a prostate biopsy. Increasingly they might recommend a scan to be done first, an MRI scan and then discuss with you what the best way to do a biopsy is. What is a Biopsy? The removal of a small sample of tissue for examination to determine the presence or extent of a disease. And if it is cancer tell us what happens then, tell us about some of the tests. Well, a discussion then starts. The first step is to make sure we know exactly what kind of Cancer it is and that might involve other types of scans, for example a CT scan or a bone scan. The kind of Cancer is determined by the size of it or the stage of a cancer. And once the specialist puts all that information together with what the biopsy has shown then they start to discuss with you what the treatments are."

Enlarged prostate common in men over 40 - SLUCare Health Watch

01:15
A man's prostate gland usually starts to enlarge after he reaches 40 years of age. This condition is called benign prostatic hyperplaisia (BPH) and is considered a natural process of aging. More than 70% of men in their 60's experience BPH symptoms. It is not cancer, and it does not raise your risk for prostate cancer. Symptoms often include a weak stream of urine, difficulty starting urination, dribbling of urine, a sense of not fully emptying the bladder, more frequent urination and a strong and sudden desire to urinate, especially at night, and blood in the urine. There are medications and major surgery to help treat severe symptoms, however, a new minimally invasive treatment called Urolift is giving men relief of their symptoms without the need for medication. Urolift lifts or holds the enlarged prostate tissue out of the way so it no longer blocks the urethra. Dr. Lindsay Lombardo, SLUCare urologist says, "It's little sutures that have stainless steel clips on them that kind of squeeze the prostate from the outside and into the inside open. So, it just squeezes it open." Urolift may be good for you if you don't want to take daily medication, you are unhappy with the side effects of BPH medication, you want to avoid major surgery due to potential surgical risks of side effects and complications, you want to preserve your sexual function or you want to regain your quality of life without minimal downtime. Dr. Lombardo says her patients often say, "Why didn't I do this 10 years ago!" More information online at www.slucare.edu To schedule an appointment with a SLUCare physician, please call (314) 977-4440. SLUCare Physician Group is a patient-centered network of more than 500 health care providers on staff at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Prostate cancer and Fish oil: Truth or fiction

04:03
The SELECT trial looked at supplementing men with either selenium or vitamin E to decrease the risk of prostate cancer. The trial was stopped early when it appeared that those men that took extra vitamin E actually had MORE prostate cancer. After stopping the trial, the men were followed for 3 more years, and the men that developed prostate cancer were added to the numbers, and a growing number of men in the vitamin E arm developed prostate cancer. At that point the data appeared to confirm a link between taking extra vitamin E and developing high grade prostate cancer. Where it becomes interesting is that they monitored blood levels of omega 3 fatty acids as well. They were not given fish oil as a supplement. The men who had the more aggressive types of cancer tended to have higher blood levels of Omega 3 in their blood. The blood levels did not correlate with their intake. The huge jump was made that omega 3 fish oil caused prostate cancer. Asians and Pacific Islanders tend to as an ethnicity, to have the lowest rate of prostate cancer, and have the highest fish intake. How could dietary fish oil then, increase the risk of cancer. If, indeed, there is a link between prostate cancer and omega 3 blood levels, then perhaps, high omega 3 levels may be a marker for, not a cause of prostate cancer. Elevated PSA blood levels is a marker for prostate cancer. No one has ever supposed if you ingested PSA it would cause cancer. It is something that rises in the presence of cancer, and is used as a screening tool. Perhaps, one day we will do blood levels of omega 3s, and if there is a rise, not related to dietary intake changes, then we might look for prostate cancer???

Men Should Skip Common Prostate Cancer Test

03:41
Men shouldn't be screened for prostate cancer with a common blood test, a widely followed federal advisory panel recommended on Monday. But the report isn't likely to quell a dispute about whether the test's risks outweigh its potential benefits. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommended a "D" grade for prostate-specific--antigen, or PSA, testing which has been widely used for almost two decades to screen men for prostate cancer. Previously the task force had recommended against PSA testing for men age 75 and older. Now the recommendation extends to all ages.

5 Common Signs of Prostate Cancer

04:00
5 Common Signs of Prostate Cancer Prostate cancer is a silent killer. Unlike many other cancers where symptoms occur early on, making the disease easier to detect, with prostate cancer there are no early warning signs. Only once a tumor causes the prostate gland to swell, or the cancer spreads beyond the prostate, will there be signs that the disease may be present. While regular screenings are essential for the identification and treatment of prostate cancer, if it goes undetected, the following are among the most common signs of the disease. 1. Urination Issues Experiencing troubles while urinating is among the most common indicators of prostate cancer. According to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, these difficulties can include: -Burning or pain during urination -Difficulty urinating, or trouble starting and stopping while urinating -More frequent urges to urinate at night -Loss of bladder control -Decreased flow or velocity of urinee stream -Blood in urinee (hematuria) While these issues may indicate a prostate concern, they are not symptoms of the cancer. They occur as a result of the tumor in the prostate pressing on the bladder. 2. Swelling, Numbness or Pain in the Bones or Tissues It’s possible for the cancer to spread beyond the prostate and into the bones, which can cause pain and/or stiffness in the bones in areas such as the hips, back or chest. Prostate cancer can also spread to the nearby tissues and, more seriously, the lymphatic system. This can lead to symptoms such as swelling in the legs or pelvic area, as well as weakness or numbness in the legs or feet. 3. Constipation or Loss of bowell Control As mentioned previously, someone with prostate cancer may experience weakness or numbness in the legs or feet. This is caused by the cancer having spread to the tissues of the spine and pressing on the nerves. In addition to this weakness or paralysis of the lower limbs, a person may also experience digestive issues. This can either present itself as constipation, or a loss of bowell control. 4. Shortness of Breath It’s possible for someone with prostate cancer, typically in an advanced stage, to develop a conditional called anemia. Anemia is characterized as a drop in red blood cells, which results in there not being sufficient oxygen in the blood to meet the body’s needs. According to Prostate Cancer UK, symptoms of anemia can include “feeling tired or weak, being out of breath and looking pale.” Shortness of breath isn’t always due to anemia, however. It may also occur, along with chest pain, if the cancer spreads into a person’s lungs. 5. Loss of Weight, Fatigue and High Blood Pressure Although these symptoms are far more rare, it’s possible for prostate cancer to cause something called paraneoplastic syndrome. This is a group of symptoms that includes high blood pressure, fatigue and weight loss, as well as muscle cramps, illness and changes in the blood. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, paraneoplastic syndrome occurs “when substances released by cancer cells disrupt the normal function of nearby or distant organs or tissues.” Help us to be better SUBSCRIBE for more videos here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYWEoxZsBePnM-qQ3b5Ew9g?sub_confirmation=1 More from Health Zone+: -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oevk6I1vI0 -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CKqcp2LQbM -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42cHCu7xYbg 5 Common Signs of Prostate Cancer By Health Zone + Backsound Free Royalty Licence by Vexento

Prostate cancer symptoms often don't begin until the cancer has become advances or metastatic, explains Dr. Tutrone. Occasionally men with prostate cancer will experience, urinary urgency and frequency and a slowing of the urinary stream, however this is commonly caused by enlargement of the prostate and not cancer. Mayo Clinic Minute: A better look at prostate cancer

01:01
It is the third leading cause of cancer death for men in the U.S. More than 160,000 new cases of prostate cancer are expected to be diagnosed in 2017. "The reality is that prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed solid malignancy in men," says Dr. Eugene Kwon, a Mayo Clinic urologist. Dr. Kwon says, unfortunately, far too many patients fail their initial treatment for prostate cancer. "The fact is that, after you treat it, it doesn’t necessarily go away. It has a tendency to come back, and, for that very reason, a lot of men get into significant trouble." A big part of the challenge is locating the cancer when it returns to surgically remove it or zap it with radiation therapy. But technology is giving health care providers something even better than X-ray vision to see where it's hiding.

How Common are Prostate Diseases?

41:10
http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/endosterol.html Approximately 3 million American men have some type of prostate disease. More than half of all men over the age of 65 develop BPH, and almost all men over 85 (about 90%) have it, making it one of the most common health problems for older men. About a quarter of a million surgeries are performed each year in the United States to correct BPH. Prostate cancer is a frequent cancer diagnosis in American men. Although it is rare in people under the age of 40, it becomes more common in older men, and almost half of men over the age of 70 are thought to have it, but for many men this cancer will not seriously impact their health. About 200,000 men in this country are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year, and about 30,000 die of the disease, making it the second most deadly cancer in men after lung cancer. Approximately one in every six men will be diagnosed with this cancer at some time during his lifetime. Although prostatitis is less common than BPH or prostate cancer, about 8% of the male population will suffer from it at some point in their lives. http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/store http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/store/endosterol.html
