This is a subject that’s very important to be because both my parents were diagnosed with “high cholesterol” over 15 years ago and my father also had a stroke a couple years ago. So, I’m very familiar with this topic… And what I’ve discovered over the past 20 years is that your goal should be to create TOTAL heart health… The 4 Healthiest, Fastest, Easiest & Safest Ways Of Lowering Your “Bad” VLDL/LDL Cholesterol Naturally… 1. DIET Of course you know your diet is very important, so let me give a quick overview and summary. Carbohydrates – Eliminate or at least limit all man-made carbohydrates – such as cakes, crackers, breads, chips, etc. Anything that comes in a “box”, isn’t good for you. Stick to natural carbohydrates such as vegetables, fruits, legumes, sweet potatoes and a small amount of steel-cut oatmeal. Proteins – Americans eat way too much animal protein. Reduce the protein and limit it to vegetable sources, grass fed bison and wild-caught fish such as salmon. Please stop eating dairy and soy because they cause negative hormonal changes by reducing your thyroid, increasing toxic estrogens and stress hormones – and all of this leads to excess body fat and cancer. Fats – They are very important for proper hormone function. The best are RAW almonds, walnuts, avocados, fish oil and extra virgin coconut oil. Stay away from the man-made, super market oils such as soybean, sesame, canola, corn, sunflower and similar oils and products. Definitely NO margarine either. ALL these fats cause imbalances in hormones and lead to heart disease with long-term usage. Fiber – Eat lots of fiber, about 10-25 grams daily. The best sources would be from vegetables, legumes, fruits with skin, and nuts (walnuts are best). 2. EXERCISE All you need is 20-30 minutes of “something”, 3-4x a week. Walking is a great start… Lifting weights has many hormonal benefits. Swimming, playing sports, etc. are all very helpful. Pick something fun and stick to it. Be consistent! 3. STRESS MANAGEMENT The topic of “stress” is big, can be complicated and requires its own space and I’ll discuss this topic in the future. Blackberries were the most effective, followed by red raspberries, blueberries and strawberries. More research is needed to determine the amount of berries or juice people should consume to lower cholesterol. However, drinking more berry juice on a regular basis may be beneficial. Tart Cherry Juice Tart cherries are loaded with antioxidants that provide several benefits, including reducing cholesterol levels. In a study conducted at the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center, rats that received whole tart cherry powder as part of a high-fat diet had significantly lower levels of cholesterol than other rats. Cherry juice is readily available at supermarkets and natural health stores. However, you can also make your own at home using dried cherries or cherry powder. Ginger Tea Ginger has been used medicinally for centuries to treat health problems such as nausea and diarrhea. Preliminary studies also indicate that it may also help lower cholesterol and prevent atherosclerosis, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center, which recommends not consuming more than 4g of ginger daily. Caution While green tea and ginger tea are generally safe, in some cases they may cause side effects. For instance, drinking too much green tea may cause insomnia, dizziness or irritability. Ginger tea may cause heartburn or stomach upset. Also, these drinks can interact with certain medications. Consult your doctor about consuming these drinks to control your cholesterol levels.

Season with oil, vinegar, honey & salt & pepper Brown rice Lime & Cilantro garnish Menu 2 Fajita Chicken 2 red bell pepper, sliced 2 orange bell pepper, sliced 1 red onion, sliced 4 chicken breasts, cut into strips 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tbsp chili powder 1 tsp cumin 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp onion powder ½ tsp dried oregano Salt & pepper Oil In a small bowl, whisk together spices & set aside. In a large pan over med-high heat, add peppers, onion & chicken. Season with spices. Cook, stirring occasionally until cooked through. Black Bean & Corn Salsa 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained 1 cup corn kernels, cooked 1 red pepper, diced ½ red onion, diced 1 lime, zest and juice 1 tsp chili powder ¼ cup cilantro, chopped Salt & pepper Cilantro Lime Rice 1 cup white rice 2 cups water 1 garlic clove, minced 2 limes, zest and juice ¼ cup cilantro, chopped Salt & pepper In a medium saucepan, bring rice, water & garlic to a boil over med-high heat. Reduce to low, cover & simmer for 10 min. Turn off heat & let rest, covered, for 5 min. Stir in lime juice & cilantro. Menu 3 Greek Chicken 4 chicken breasts ½ lemon, zest and juice 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp dried oregano Salt & pepper Place chicken on nonstick or parchment lined baking sheet. Season with lemon zest & juice, garlic powder, oregano, & salt & pepper. Bake at 375ºF for 15-20 min, or until chicken is cooked through Cucumber & Tomatoes with Feta 2 cups cucumber, diced 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved ½ cup feta, crumbled 2 tbsp dill, chopped 1 tsp greek seasoning 3 tbsp oil 2 tbsp red wine vinegar Salt & pepper Tzatziki 1 cup plain Greek yogurt 1 cucumber 1-2 garlic cloves, grated ½ lemon, zest and juice ¼ cup dill, chopped Salt & pepper Peel, seed & grate cucumber. Using a clean kitchen towel, squeeze out excess water. In a med bowl, combine greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon zest & juice, dill & salt & pepper Cooked Quinoa Menu 4 Lemon Dill Salmon 4 6oz salmon fillets 1 tsp garlic powder 2 tbsp dill, chopped Salt & pepper to taste. 1 lemon, sliced (with rind on) Season salmon with dill & salt and pepper to taste. Place on nonstick or parchment lined baking sheet & top with lemon slices. Bake at 375ºF for 10-12 min, or until salmon is cooked through. Steamed Broccoli & Asparagus 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed & cut into thirds 1 broccoli crown, cut into florets Heat 1 inch of water in a large pot. Combine veggies in a steamer basket. Steam for 5-7 min or until vegetables turn bright green but still retain some of their crispness. Run under cool water to prevent further cooking White Rice with Parsley 1 cup white rice 2 cups water 1 garlic clove, grated Salt & pepper ¼ cup parsley, chopped ½ lemon, juiced In a med saucepan, bring rice & water to a boil over med-high heat. Reduce to low, cover & simmer for 10 min. Turn off heat and let rest, covered, for 5 min. Stir in garlic, parsley & lemon juice. Season with salt & pepper Menu 5 Garlic Shrimp 1lb shrimp, peeled 3 garlic cloves, minced ¼ tsp chili flakes (optional) Salt & pepper oil In a large skillet over med-high heat add oil. Add shrimp & cook for 2-3 min. Add garlic & season with salt & pepper to taste. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally until shrimp is cooked through. Green Beans 2 lbs green beans, tips removed In a large pot with 1 inch of water & a steamer basket, bring to a boil. Add beans to basket and cover. Cook for 5-7 min, or until beans are cooked to your liking. Run under cold water to stop cooking Chinese Fried Quinoa 2 cups quinoa, cooked 1 small onion, diced 1 garlic clove, minced 1 cup frozen peas and carrots 2 eggs, beaten (optional) 1-2 tbsp soy sauce oil In a large wok or skillet, heat oil over high heat. Add onion & carrots & cook for 3-4 min. Add peas, carrots & garlic & cook for another min. Push veggies to one side of the pan and scramble eggs on the opposite side. One of the best ways to improve your health quickly is by learning how to read nutrition labels. The first thing you’ll notice at the top of nutrition facts are the serving size and servings per container. This is simply the “amount” in the package or container. Pretty self explanatory... Next you have the ingredients. Everything inside these black lines is representative of ONE serving. This is important to understand because, next you will see the calories and the calories from fat. This is pretty much the only thing most people ever look at and this is a common mistake… If the package says 200 calories on the bag of chips, but the serving per container says 2.5, that means there is actually 500 calories in the bag… This is a clever little marketing trick that you should pay attention to. Pressing on, you will see the total fat on the package along with a number and a percentage on the right hand side. The number represents the total fat in one serving and percentage represents the percentage based on a 2000 calorie diet. So 8 gram is 12% of a 2000 calorie diet. I should also remind you that fat is not bad for you and there are plenty of healthy foods that are high in fat. What you really want to watch out for is any trans fat. Trans fat is the kind linked to heart disease and all sorts of bad stuff. Avoid this at all costs. Saturated fat should be much less of a concern. This may surprise some of you, so I will link a few studies below that have conclusively proven that saturated fat is fine to eat and not the cause of the many diseases it was wrongly accused for. Think of saturated fat as the middle child of the fat family, he’s got a good heart but is just a little misunderstood. Now, you may be thinking, wait a minute… Why does the total number of saturated fat and trans fat not add up to the total fat at the top… Where’s the other 7 grams? Well this is because not all fats will be listed on the nutrition label. Only the nutrients deemed most important ever make it to the nutrition labels. Don’t worry though. The other fats not listed are generally healthy and should be much less of a concern. Pressing on you will see cholesterol and sodium. Remember, these numbers are based on ONE serving. If the sodium was 25% of your daily intake and the package had 2.5 servings in it. That means the entire package contains 63% of you daily sodium intake. Quite a bit considering this is one snack. Onward, you’ll sees the carbohydrate section. Carbohydrates are the breads, grains, fiber and SUGARS in the food. The first section you’ll see is for dietary fiber. Having a good amount of dietary fiber is a good thing as it helps with digestion and satisfaction from meals. Now the next section is what you need to pay attention to. The total sugars in the food you’re eating are important to watch out for as, like the trans fats, these have been linked to a whole host of diseases and health problems. Also you should be aware of not only the sugar in the food, but what kind of carbohydrates you’re eating. If the food is very high in carbohydrates, but low in dietary fiber, even though the carbs are not labeled as “sugar,” they will operate very similarly in the blood stream. These are called “simple carbs.” This is why you need to watch out for unrefined carbohydrates like white bread and pastas. Next up, you’ll see the label for protein. Knowing that foods high in protein lead to better satisfaction from meals, and promote lean muscle tissue, you will want most of the foods you eat to have a good amount of protein. Finally, we have a few key vitamins at the bottom. It may sound strange, but ignore these. The numbers will be notoriously low and you should be focusing instead on getting in lots of fruits and vegetables every day to meet your vitamin requirements. Leafy greens contain calcium and iron, and fruits contain vitamin c and a. The rest of the nutrition labels facts contain recommendations about how much of each category to get in. They do not change on nutrition labels and are not that important. Finally, on some labels you will see the calories per gram for each macronutrient. Fat contains 9 grams per serving and Carbohydrates and Proteins contain 4. So for every 10 grams of fat, you will have 90 calories. For every 10 grams of protein or carbs you will get 40 calories. Safe to say, you should now have a general understanding of how nutrition labels work. Most importantly, you can stop assuming something is healthy for you based on tricky packaging and start KNOWING the difference.

Yes, you can definitely injure yourself if you are not careful with these types of weights. It works off your momentum which can lead to injury if your not careful with your movements. However, with practice, you can also get in the best shape of your life utilizing this specific piece of machinery for a complete full body workout. Form is everything Strategically placing the weight at certain heights will improve your strength in endurance and in your stability muscles that you may miss out on with barbells. An excellent example is the Squat and Hold. You start by gripping the handle of the kettle bell with the ball towards the ground. Keeping your feet about shoulder width apart, lower yourself into a squat position bringing your hips back as far as possible. Use the kettle bell to counter balance the weight for a deeper squat. Once you lower yourself into a squat hold for 3 seconds, driving your heels into the ground. Come back to the start position and do it again. If you want to see it in action, click the video below. The Secret to Success Light weight is key. If you are new to this equipment, you don't have to show off. You may be shocked about the way your muscles feel after the workout because these workouts can be quiet intense. One size fits all. You don't have to invest in a line of kettlebells. I recommend getting 3 sizes, from light weight to moderate then heavy for when you get stronger. In one fluid motion, stand up straight as you pull kettlebell up to left shoulder and rotate weight with wrist, ending with palm facing in toward chest. Lower to start Lunge and Row: hold kettlebell in one hand. Step opposite leg forward, bending knees into a shallow lunge. Rest arm on front thigh, and hinge forward at hip, maintaining a flat back. Lift kettlebell to chest level keeping elbow close to side Kettlebell Swing: Grab the kettlebell with both hands. Bend knees slightly, hinge forward at hips and swing kettlebell between legs. Use momentum from hips to swing weight to chest height. The answer is probably not what you think; it is chocolate. Or rather, chocolate's main ingredient called cocoa. Going back in time, the ancient Aztecs ground cocoa seeds with seasonings to make a bitter, spicy drink they thought promoted good health. Long before that, there was evidence that a similar concoction was consumed for its power to nourish and strengthen, and as an aphrodisiac. By the time this creation was brought from the Americas to Europe about 500 years ago, it was a mixture of cocoa, flour and spices. It quickly became a foundation for prescriptions used in hospitals. It is important to note that "chocolate" and "cocoa" are not the same thing. "Cocoa" is the non-fat component of finely ground cocoa beans. It is used in chocolate making, or as powder for cooking and drinks. "Chocolate" refers to the combination of cocoa, butter, sugar and other ingredients that are made into a solid food product. Aside from an energy jolt from the sugar and caffeine, is there an advantage to consuming chocolate? That is why eating dark chocolate is a healthier choice than eating milk chocolate. Of note, white chocolate is made from the fatty part of the bean that contains no cocoa at all. So white chocolate has no brown color, and therefore no antioxidants. Here is what I tell my patients about consuming chocolate; choose dark chocolate with a cocoa content of 70 percent or higher. Limit yourself to no more than 3 ounces (85 grams) of dark chocolate a day, which is the amount shown in studies to be helpful. Because this amount may contain up to 450 calories, you may want to cut calories in other areas or step up your exercise to compensate. If you are looking to increase your intake of flavonoids as part of an overall healthful, balanced diet other good sources include tea, grapes, wine, and various fruits (especially apples and certain berries). Bought meds and snacks afterwards. Went to Petbero in Dau to have my pets JK the shih tsu and Yuki the Yorkie groomed. Bought ice cream at Wiggies near Petbero as well. Just an update: I really do have Diabetes and I have non-alcoholic fatty liver. Taking meds for 3 months then I'll be back to have my checkup once again in April. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are multifactorial disorders which are characterized by multiple metabolic dysfunctions. CVDs are the major cause of mortality and morbidity in the world. Data published in the PubMed-listed International Journal of Preventive Medicine indicated that 20 grams per day of garlic and one tablespoon of lemon juice produced significantly greater reductions in total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and fibrinogen compared to garlic alone, lemon juice alone, or control. With their unique combination of flavonoids and sulfur-containing nutrients, allium vegetables--such as garlic--belong in your diet on a regular basis. There's research evidence for including at least one serving of an allium vegetable--such as garlic--in your meal plan every day. Raw honey garlic lemon shots are known as an effective method to supercharge your immune system. The combination was also associated with significant reductions in blood pressure, but only compared to the lemon juice only and control groups, which supports the cardiovascular benefits of garlic. Indeed, a recent meta-analysis of 7 randomized controlled trials concluded that garlic supplements could reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure by an average of 6.71 mmHg and 4.79 mmHg, respectively (Phytomedicine, Vol 22, pp. 352-361). Study Details Scientists from the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in Iran recruited 112 people with elevated blood lipid levels (hyperlipidemic) to participate in their parallel-designed randomized controlled clinical trial. Participants were randomly assigned to one of four groups: The first group received the combination intervention; the second group received 20 grams per day of fresh garlic; the third group received 1 tablespoon lemon juice per day; and the final group did not receive any intervention. After eight weeks of intervention, the results showed that the combined garlic and lemon group experienced significant reductions in total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and fibrinogen, compared with the other groups. In addition, greater reductions in systolic and diastolic blood pressure was observed for the combination and garlic only groups, compared with the other two groups. The Iranian researchers also detected a greater reduction in BMI in the mixed group compared with the lemon juice and control groups. "A combination of garlic and lemon juice resulted in an improvement in lipid levels and blood pressure of people with hyperlipidemia," wrote the researchers. "Further studies to determine the appropriate doses of garlic and lemon juice for these patients are warranted. In addition, the effect of a combination of garlic and lemon juice might be different based on the degree of hyperlipidemia."

The avocado tree is a native of Mexico and belongs to the Lauraceous family. The fruit is initially green; when it is mature and suitable for consumption, it´s a very dark purple, almost black. It has rough skin and yellow flesh and its flavour is similar to that of dried fruit. This variety is relatively smaller than the rest of the varieties that are marketed, but has a higher proportion of pulp. It is known as the heart fruit, not only because of its similarity to this vital organ, but also because its oils help to reduce cholesterol and protect the cardio-vascular system. It is rich in vegetable fat which provides the body with vitamins E, A, B1, B2, B3, fatty acids, proteins and minerals. Most importantly it has high potassium content, more than 60% than that of a normal fruit. The avocado has more dietary fibre than any other fruit. It is rich in vitamin B and high in folic acid, it is especially important during pregnancy, as this acid is responsible for the formation of the neural tube of the baby. It also has a lot of glutamine, an antioxidant that serves to capture free radicals that can damage our bodies. But, without a doubt, its dominant feature is the quantity and quality of its monounsaturated fats, popularly known as good fats, such as olive oil, which helps to reduce bad cholesterol and increase the good, helping to protect the heart. It is extremely rich in the three antioxidant vitamins that fight against the free radicals, cancer (A, C and E), premature aging and heart disease. Box 17963 Chicago IL 60617 "Saddlebags" are an optical illusion, an underdeveloped area just under your tush where the back of your thigh (your hamstring) “ties into” your glutes. We call this area the "glute-hamstring tie-in." When the muscles of this area are underdeveloped, the area becomes soft, fat accumulates, and it falls outward to the side, causing the appearance of what people refer to as "saddlebags." The solution here is to strengthen the muscles that lay under the body fat in this region. This makes the corresponding muscle stronger and more metabolically active, thereby pulling up and inward on the area. Muscle is also a great way to combat extra body fat. Workout : 2 Sets | 30 Seconds Reps | 15 Second Break 1. Inner Thigh Leg Lift 2. Squat and Lateral Raise 3. Doggy Style (Fire Hydrant) 4. Clam Shell How To: -Inner Thigh Leg Raise: Lying on your side, lengthen your bottom leg and cross your top leg over it. Rest either your knee or foot on the floor. Prop your head up with your hand, or rest your head on your arm. As you exhale, lift your bottom leg up, and inhale as you lower it back down. Your torso should stay still while you do this. Do AMAP reps, then repeat on the other side. -Doggy Style (Fire Hydrant) Position yourself on your hands and knees on the ground. This will be your starting position. Keeping the knee in a bent position, abduct the femur, moving your knee away from the midline of the body. Pause at the top of the motion, and then slowly return to the starting position. Perform this slowly for a number of repetitions, and repeat on the other side. -Clam Shell Keep the spine in a neutral position – neither arched or hunched. Keep the hips stacked vertically one on top of the other, and perfectly still while you perform this movement. This ensures the glutes provide the movement, not the hips. Slow, controlled movement while maintaining a mental focus on the butt muscles will make this exercise most effective. Squeeze the glutes and pause for a moment at the top of the movement to work the butt even more. -Squat and Lateral Leg Lift Stand with your feet shoulder-width distance apart, feet parallel. Hold your hands out in front of you for balance. Bend your knees, lowering your hips deeply so your thighs are parallel with the floor, keeping your weight back in your heels. Then rise back up, straightening the legs completely and lifting the left leg out to the side, squeezing the outer glute. As you step the foot back into shoulder-width distance position, squat down again. Then stand up and do a side leg lift on the right side. Lower the leg back to the starting position. This counts as one rep. Here are 7 more tips to lose weight even faster: Eat a high-protein breakfast. Avoid sugary drinks and fruit juice. Drink water a half hour before meals. Eat soluble fiber. Drink coffee or tea. (hold the sugar) Eat mostly whole, unprocessed foods. Eat your food slowly. No doubt you have eaten dahi vada before but the dahi vada recipe I am sharing is healthy, since use of oil is negligible and tasty on the other hand, make the super crispy dahi vada and start a healthy practice. This is my Innovation, so it is very important that you reply back your experience.
