Drinks to Lower Cholesterol. High levels of bad cholesterol and total cholesterol increase your risk of heart disease and stroke. According to the Mayo Clinic, your diet plays a critical role in reducing cholesterol levels. Adding particular beverages to your diet may be beneficial. Green Tea Green tea contains the highest levels of antioxidants known as polyphenols. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, several studies show that this beverage can lower LDL cholesterol and total cholesterol levels. It also boosts levels of HDL cholesterol, which sweeps bad cholesterol from your arteries. Researchers believe that green tea’s polyphenols inhibit absorption of cholesterol in the intestines and enhance its excretion from your body. Berry Juice Berries help reduce blood cholesterol levels, but some are more effective than others. In a study conducted by the University of California at Davis, researchers found that fresh berries significantly decreased LDL cholesterol. Blackberries were the most effective, followed by red raspberries, blueberries and strawberries. More research is needed to determine the amount of berries or juice people should consume to lower cholesterol. However, drinking more berry juice on a regular basis may be beneficial. Tart Cherry Juice Tart cherries are loaded with antioxidants that provide several benefits, including reducing cholesterol levels. In a study conducted at the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center, rats that received whole tart cherry powder as part of a high-fat diet had significantly lower levels of cholesterol than other rats. Cherry juice is readily available at supermarkets and natural health stores. However, you can also make your own at home using dried cherries or cherry powder. Ginger Tea Ginger has been used medicinally for centuries to treat health problems such as nausea and diarrhea. Preliminary studies also indicate that it may also help lower cholesterol and prevent atherosclerosis, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center, which recommends not consuming more than 4g of ginger daily. Caution While green tea and ginger tea are generally safe, in some cases they may cause side effects. For instance, drinking too much green tea may cause insomnia, dizziness or irritability. Ginger tea may cause heartburn or stomach upset. Also, these drinks can interact with certain medications. Consult your doctor about consuming these drinks to control your cholesterol levels.

Using hands, shape meatballs & place on parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 375ºF for 25-30 min, or until golden & cooked through. Glaze with remaining hoisin sauce Red Cabbage & Carrot Slaw 1 small red cabbage, shredded 4 carrots, julienned or shredded ½ red onion, diced 3 tbsp olive oil 3 tbsp white wine vinegar 1 tbsp honey Salt & pepper In a large bowl, mix together cabbage, carrots & onion. Season with oil, vinegar, honey & salt & pepper Brown rice Lime & Cilantro garnish Menu 2 Fajita Chicken 2 red bell pepper, sliced 2 orange bell pepper, sliced 1 red onion, sliced 4 chicken breasts, cut into strips 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tbsp chili powder 1 tsp cumin 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp onion powder ½ tsp dried oregano Salt & pepper Oil In a small bowl, whisk together spices & set aside. In a large pan over med-high heat, add peppers, onion & chicken. Season with spices. Cook, stirring occasionally until cooked through. Black Bean & Corn Salsa 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained 1 cup corn kernels, cooked 1 red pepper, diced ½ red onion, diced 1 lime, zest and juice 1 tsp chili powder ¼ cup cilantro, chopped Salt & pepper Cilantro Lime Rice 1 cup white rice 2 cups water 1 garlic clove, minced 2 limes, zest and juice ¼ cup cilantro, chopped Salt & pepper In a medium saucepan, bring rice, water & garlic to a boil over med-high heat. Reduce to low, cover & simmer for 10 min. Turn off heat & let rest, covered, for 5 min. Stir in lime juice & cilantro. Menu 3 Greek Chicken 4 chicken breasts ½ lemon, zest and juice 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp dried oregano Salt & pepper Place chicken on nonstick or parchment lined baking sheet. Season with lemon zest & juice, garlic powder, oregano, & salt & pepper. Bake at 375ºF for 15-20 min, or until chicken is cooked through Cucumber & Tomatoes with Feta 2 cups cucumber, diced 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved ½ cup feta, crumbled 2 tbsp dill, chopped 1 tsp greek seasoning 3 tbsp oil 2 tbsp red wine vinegar Salt & pepper Tzatziki 1 cup plain Greek yogurt 1 cucumber 1-2 garlic cloves, grated ½ lemon, zest and juice ¼ cup dill, chopped Salt & pepper Peel, seed & grate cucumber. Using a clean kitchen towel, squeeze out excess water. In a med bowl, combine greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon zest & juice, dill & salt & pepper Cooked Quinoa Menu 4 Lemon Dill Salmon 4 6oz salmon fillets 1 tsp garlic powder 2 tbsp dill, chopped Salt & pepper to taste. 1 lemon, sliced (with rind on) Season salmon with dill & salt and pepper to taste. Place on nonstick or parchment lined baking sheet & top with lemon slices. Bake at 375ºF for 10-12 min, or until salmon is cooked through. Steamed Broccoli & Asparagus 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed & cut into thirds 1 broccoli crown, cut into florets Heat 1 inch of water in a large pot. Combine veggies in a steamer basket. Steam for 5-7 min or until vegetables turn bright green but still retain some of their crispness. Run under cool water to prevent further cooking White Rice with Parsley 1 cup white rice 2 cups water 1 garlic clove, grated Salt & pepper ¼ cup parsley, chopped ½ lemon, juiced In a med saucepan, bring rice & water to a boil over med-high heat. Reduce to low, cover & simmer for 10 min. Turn off heat and let rest, covered, for 5 min. Stir in garlic, parsley & lemon juice. Season with salt & pepper Menu 5 Garlic Shrimp 1lb shrimp, peeled 3 garlic cloves, minced ¼ tsp chili flakes (optional) Salt & pepper oil In a large skillet over med-high heat add oil. Add shrimp & cook for 2-3 min. Add garlic & season with salt & pepper to taste. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally until shrimp is cooked through. Green Beans 2 lbs green beans, tips removed In a large pot with 1 inch of water & a steamer basket, bring to a boil. Add beans to basket and cover. Cook for 5-7 min, or until beans are cooked to your liking. Run under cold water to stop cooking Chinese Fried Quinoa 2 cups quinoa, cooked 1 small onion, diced 1 garlic clove, minced 1 cup frozen peas and carrots 2 eggs, beaten (optional) 1-2 tbsp soy sauce oil In a large wok or skillet, heat oil over high heat. Add onion & carrots & cook for 3-4 min. Add peas, carrots & garlic & cook for another min. Push veggies to one side of the pan and scramble eggs on the opposite side. Box 17963 Chicago IL 60617 "Saddlebags" are an optical illusion, an underdeveloped area just under your tush where the back of your thigh (your hamstring) “ties into” your glutes. We call this area the "glute-hamstring tie-in." When the muscles of this area are underdeveloped, the area becomes soft, fat accumulates, and it falls outward to the side, causing the appearance of what people refer to as "saddlebags." The solution here is to strengthen the muscles that lay under the body fat in this region. This makes the corresponding muscle stronger and more metabolically active, thereby pulling up and inward on the area. Muscle is also a great way to combat extra body fat. Workout : 2 Sets | 30 Seconds Reps | 15 Second Break 1. Inner Thigh Leg Lift 2. Squat and Lateral Raise 3. Doggy Style (Fire Hydrant) 4. Clam Shell How To: -Inner Thigh Leg Raise: Lying on your side, lengthen your bottom leg and cross your top leg over it. Rest either your knee or foot on the floor. Prop your head up with your hand, or rest your head on your arm. As you exhale, lift your bottom leg up, and inhale as you lower it back down. Your torso should stay still while you do this. Do AMAP reps, then repeat on the other side. -Doggy Style (Fire Hydrant) Position yourself on your hands and knees on the ground. This will be your starting position. Keeping the knee in a bent position, abduct the femur, moving your knee away from the midline of the body. Pause at the top of the motion, and then slowly return to the starting position. Perform this slowly for a number of repetitions, and repeat on the other side. -Clam Shell Keep the spine in a neutral position – neither arched or hunched. Keep the hips stacked vertically one on top of the other, and perfectly still while you perform this movement. This ensures the glutes provide the movement, not the hips. Slow, controlled movement while maintaining a mental focus on the butt muscles will make this exercise most effective. Squeeze the glutes and pause for a moment at the top of the movement to work the butt even more. -Squat and Lateral Leg Lift Stand with your feet shoulder-width distance apart, feet parallel. Hold your hands out in front of you for balance. Bend your knees, lowering your hips deeply so your thighs are parallel with the floor, keeping your weight back in your heels. Then rise back up, straightening the legs completely and lifting the left leg out to the side, squeezing the outer glute. As you step the foot back into shoulder-width distance position, squat down again. Then stand up and do a side leg lift on the right side. Lower the leg back to the starting position. This counts as one rep. Here are 7 more tips to lose weight even faster: Eat a high-protein breakfast. Avoid sugary drinks and fruit juice. Drink water a half hour before meals. Eat soluble fiber. Drink coffee or tea. (hold the sugar) Eat mostly whole, unprocessed foods. Eat your food slowly. Why are you swinging that ball of metal around? Doesn't that hurt your back? Can A kettlebell workout really get you results? Questions I am asked all the time. Yes, you can definitely injure yourself if you are not careful with these types of weights. It works off your momentum which can lead to injury if your not careful with your movements. However, with practice, you can also get in the best shape of your life utilizing this specific piece of machinery for a complete full body workout. Form is everything Strategically placing the weight at certain heights will improve your strength in endurance and in your stability muscles that you may miss out on with barbells. An excellent example is the Squat and Hold. You start by gripping the handle of the kettle bell with the ball towards the ground. Keeping your feet about shoulder width apart, lower yourself into a squat position bringing your hips back as far as possible. Use the kettle bell to counter balance the weight for a deeper squat. Once you lower yourself into a squat hold for 3 seconds, driving your heels into the ground. Come back to the start position and do it again. If you want to see it in action, click the video below. The Secret to Success Light weight is key. If you are new to this equipment, you don't have to show off. You may be shocked about the way your muscles feel after the workout because these workouts can be quiet intense. One size fits all. You don't have to invest in a line of kettlebells. I recommend getting 3 sizes, from light weight to moderate then heavy for when you get stronger. In one fluid motion, stand up straight as you pull kettlebell up to left shoulder and rotate weight with wrist, ending with palm facing in toward chest. Lower to start Lunge and Row: hold kettlebell in one hand. Step opposite leg forward, bending knees into a shallow lunge. Rest arm on front thigh, and hinge forward at hip, maintaining a flat back. Lift kettlebell to chest level keeping elbow close to side Kettlebell Swing: Grab the kettlebell with both hands. Bend knees slightly, hinge forward at hips and swing kettlebell between legs. Use momentum from hips to swing weight to chest height. Line a rimmed baking sheet with a silpat mat or coat with some cooking spray. Using the back of a fork, mash bananas in a medium bowl until they are broken down. Add in oats and gently stir until all of the oats and bananas are mixed together and look like a thick cookie batter. Now your ready to add the chocolate chips! Sprinkle them into the dough and stir until they are just mixed throughout. Scoop one heaping tablespoon of the dough into your hands and free form into a cookie*. Place on cookie sheet and continue until you have 12 cookies. Cook for 12-15 minutes or until set through and lightly golden. Cool and enjoy! *NOTE: these cookies will not spread in the oven so be sure to form them into a cookie before placing on baking sheet. Time for me to go back to check if I really have Diabetes and if I have high cholesterol count. After Mama Azon's passing, I went to The Medical City Clark for blood chem. Bought meds and snacks afterwards. Went to Petbero in Dau to have my pets JK the shih tsu and Yuki the Yorkie groomed. Bought ice cream at Wiggies near Petbero as well. Just an update: I really do have Diabetes and I have non-alcoholic fatty liver. Taking meds for 3 months then I'll be back to have my checkup once again in April. Coconut oil has many health benefits that are well-documented. However, one recently discovered benefit is that coconut oil can help treat symptoms of hypothyroidism, or an under-active thyroid. Hypothyroidism occurs when the body’s thyroid gland does not make enough hormones to allow the body to function appropriately. Coconut oil contains a fatty acid called lauric acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties. Coconut oil also contains capric acid, which has antimicrobial and antiviral properties. It is recommended that you use extra virgin coconut oil for the best health benefits. One tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil should be consumed daily. It can be added to hot beverages, such as tea or coffee, and added to daily cooking, drizzled over a salad or added to a smoothie. Today’s video will discuss health issues that coconut oil can help treat. 1. Metabolism When the body’s thyroid is under-active, it can cause the body to feel fatigued and without energy. The fatty acids in coconut oil help the fats in the body convert to energy. This, in turn, boosts the body’s metabolic rate. 2. Weight Loss One of the most major symptoms of an under-active thyroid is unexplained weight gain. The weight is very hard to lose and the thyroid hormones directly slow down the body’s metabolism. Assuming you eat a well-balanced, plant-based diet, I think it’s very healthy and good for you. However, for those that enjoy eating meat and love chicken, today’s video is going to reveal to you why it’s one of the worst sources of animal protein, worthless in my opinion and can actually be bad for you. And this always comes as a shock to people when I tell them this, especially since chicken is the most consumed source of animal protein: The professional athletes and bodybuilders who seem to eat chicken almost every meal. The person trying to live a healthier life, by NOT eating red meat (cow or bison) and opting for the “healthier” chicken. No Nutrients Chickens grow for 3 months before they’re killed. A few decades ago it would be a year, then 6 months and now only 3 months. They’ve fast-forwarded the growth phase so they can grow and sell more. And because of this accelerated growth, there are no nutrients in the chicken - it’s just protein. Unlike pasture raised beef or bison which can take a few years to grow and has lots of vitamins, minerals, essential fats (CLA), creatine and other muscle-building nutrients. I have all my athletes, especially the professionals and Olympic ones, switch out the chicken for grass fed, pasture raised bison. Even though they’ll eat the same exact calories, they ALL gain more muscle and lose more fat. I also have them eat wild caught salmon 3-4x weekly for the omega fats. But not more chicken! No Difference In Cholesterol Lots of people stop eating red meat and switch to chicken, only to find out that they see no improvements in their cholesterol levels or very little. One main reason for this is because the chickens are genetically modified in a variety of ways and one of them is to have MORE fat, which contains more cholesterol. Full Of Bacteria You can eat most sources of protein raw (beef, fish, eggs, milk, even pork) - but chicken is definitely one that you never want to do. In fact, over 97% of chicken contains “bacteria that will make you sick”.1 Chicken Is FAKE Meat The chicken breast is 3x bigger now than it was a few years ago. This is because of a few reasons. The first it that the chicken’s DNA has been modified to have much bigger breasts, since that’s the part of the chicken most people buy and eat. Secondly, the chickens get “breast augmentation” done by going to China, getting pumped with liquid, engorging the breast for an even larger size and then shipped back to the US for us to eat.2 The in fact do this with shrimp as well. Cancer Causing Some of the other things chickens are filled with, which the FDA admitted to3 -- is arsenic, a highly poisonous chemical that’s 4x more toxic than mercury. Arsenic is given to chickens because it causes quicker weight gain and less feeding, and it also enhances the pink coloring in raw meat. So now you know why it only takes 3 months instead of 12+ months, to have a chicken that has over 3x the breast size and double the weight at an even lower price. It’s fake, toxic meat! Even the Labeling is Misleading “Raised without hormones” is meaningless, since the USDA doesn’t allow their use with chickens. “Natural or Farm-raised” is also useless because it tells you nothing about how it was raised, what they were fed or if they were treated with drugs or antibiotics. “Free range” means that they can SEE the outside, even though they are fenced into a tiny pen every day. But if you are going to eat chicken, if possible get them from a local farmer - as rare as that is. Unfortunately, factory farming accounts for 99.9% of chickens raised for meat in the US. Even if the chickens have been raised on free-range and organic farms, chickens often spend just as much time confined to crowded spaces as those on conventional farms. ========================================­ Thank you for watching. A perfect plank position, you will look like a stiff board. You can also do with with your elbows on the ground. Take the help of your forearms and toes to support your body’s weight but ensure that your body is straight at all times. Now, remain still in this position for 60 seconds. Try to increase the duration for 15 seconds more with every passing week. Perform this exercise 2 to 3 times daily. 2. Mountain Climbers – Lie down on the floor, face down. The knees should touch the ground and arms kept straight. Now, slowly rise upwards, taking on a push up position where your legs remain in the same line as your body. Move the left leg in the direction of the left hand so that your lower abs feels the pressure. When done take the left leg to the normal position and perform the same exercise with the right leg. 3. Sitting Straight Leg Lift - Sit on the floor with hands placed in front of your hips. Keeping legs straight, lift legs to highest point and drop down gently and repeat. 4. Reverse Crunches – Lie down on the floor, facing the ceiling. Keep both your hands behind the head. Bend your knees to make them perpendicular to the floor. Now pull in both the knees together towards the chest while tightening the abdominal muscles. Carry your groceries in your hand so you don’t buy all that bullshit take your dog for a walk Take my dog for a walk Sleep No longer than 8 hours Don’t buy fast food and make your own food and don’t over eat.
