How can I help my baby with acid reflux?

02:15
You mentioned that you have a 7 week old little boy who's had some issues with reflux. You've talked to the pediatrician, and they've prescribed medication, which seems to be helping, but you're wondering if there's anything else you could possibly do to help him. And it's good that you talked to the pediatrician and that it's helping, but generally speaking, there are some things that parents can do to reduce spit-up in babies. GERD, or gastroesophageal reflux disease, is usually caused by just a mechanical hitch. A lot of babies' digestive system is still developing after they're born. One of these things is the little trap door that's over the stomach that prevents stomach contents from going back up the esophagus. With time, as this fully develops, it usually resolves. Sometimes this can be when the baby is 8 or 9 months of age, but until then, you might notice just passive expelling of the stomach contents after they've eaten, especially if you're burping them and an air bubble comes up with it, then they might have some of the milk spill out with it. That's totally normal. It becomes a problem if the baby is projectile vomiting, like having stomach contractions that are causing a lot of vomit to come out of the baby. This can be a problem because they're not keeping food down, it can lead to Failure to Thrive, they're not gaining the proper amount of weight or getting nutrition and hydration that they need, and so this is when it becomes a serious issue and the pediatrician needs to intervene. So again, it's good that the medication is helping. A few other things you can try - one is just keeping your baby upright for at least 20 minutes after meals. Also make sure that his pants aren't too tight. Any extra pressure on his abdomen can cause stomach contents to come back up. Don't do tummy time right after meals. Sit him up while he's eating so that he's not laying down and gulping in more air. That will cause more gas and he'll probably burp up more milk. So these are just a few things to keep in mind, and if you have more concerns about it, then talk with your pediatrician. If you have any other questions for me in the future, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/IntermountainMoms, and recommend us to your friends and family too.

Infant Acid Reflux looks like this

04:29
This is a different and difficult video for me to do, but after recieving messages about acid reflux and what it looks like I decided to try. Like I mention I do not have video of her screaming cries because I am tending to her, but if you have a baby with acid reflux they will have a painful cry and it seems there is little you can do to comfort. Remember that you are there for them. Your job is to do just that. It can be frustrating and tiring. Get help. Remember it doesn't last forever (hard to do in those hours, I know!) Let me know if I can offer any support! Encouragement. Help. You are not alone. We haven't been around very much lately as we try to work through Betsy's acid reflux This is a quick update for 5/6 weeks. Acid reflux started around 2/3 weeks. My older daughter had this so we knew what to look for, but every baby is different so finding a working solution can still take some time. I made a mistake and said she was on Previcid, but actually it's Prilosec. She receives 2.1 ml TWICE a day. The medication is to be taken on an empty stomach which is difficult with an infant. We give it to her 1 1/2 after she eats (if she is still awake) or 30 minutes before she eats. Sorry for my tears! (and crazy hair) Follow on: FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/HiNoonbreanneshop52 TWITTER: https://twitter.com/#!/HiNoonVlog #findthefunny BLOG: http://hinoonvlog.wordpress.com PINTEREST: http://pinterest.com/HiNoonBreanne/

Baby with GERD acid reflux and difficulty breathing refusin

01:50
My 3 month old is getting worse. He has been diagnosed with GERD (acid reflux) and has been on Zantac a month. It's not working as you can see and he only eats small amounts every 2 hours instead of 4 hours like normal. He was 6 weeks premature. Now he has been diagnosed with Tracheomalacia . His windpipe is too floppy and not enough air can get through it. He goes back to his pediatrician tomorrow to hopefully get some help!

Baby Sullivan GERD episode

01:01
I was told by one pediatrician that I was overfeeding my breastfed son and that's why he had a stomach ache and was vomiting. He insisted it was not reflux because Sullivan was gaining weight rapidly. He was constantly eating because he was a newborn but perhaps also because the milk was soothing as the stomach acid was rising up his throat. I got a second opinion and my son was diagnosed with GERD and after a swallow study was performed he was also diagnosed with dysphagia which explains why he would choke on "nothing" sometimes. This is what he would do during a bad episode (before he was diagnosed and before treatment). Just because your baby is gaining weight, does not mean they don't have Reflux Disease.

This is a very mild example which precedes hours of crying when her reflux would flare up. In this clip, you can see her bringing something up in her throat, struggling to swallow it back down, grimacing, and then getting hiccups. She is now 6 months old. Her reflux is controlled with a strict dairy-soy free diet (breastfed, so mom stays dairy/soy free) and Prevacid Solutabs, 15mg once every morning.

Signs My Baby Has Acid Reflux

02:01
What are the signs my baby has acid reflux? He upchucks more than the average baby. That could be because he has food allergies. Food allergies will cause digestive upset for that particular food. If you take that food out of the diet and the vomiting stops, you know it isn’t acid reflux. Then there’s the possibility he’s just eating stuff he shouldn’t be. Yeah, that bottle from yesterday he put down under the crib and picked back up today could cause him to puke tonight. But careful controlling what he eats eliminates those symptoms in a day or two. I’ve heard babies can have acid reflux, but it isn’t like I can give him a Tums. You could try mixing a little baking soda with his bottle, since that’s an all natural base to neutralize stomach acid. I know it seems like he eats everything, but I don’t think he’ll eat that. So cut back on the acidic foods in the diet like soda, beer and coffee. If my kid was consuming any of that, we have a problem. OK, that’s a standard answer for an adult with acid reflux. For a baby, cut back on the tomatoes, oranges or grapefruit. Grapefruits are as good as lemons for those cute bitter face baby videos on Youtube. Cut back on the high fat foods like cheese and nuts, since the high fat consumption can trigger indigestion. So let the kid have more baloney and less cheese. And pressure on the stomach could make acid reflux worse. So let the kid sit up for a while or hold them upright for a while before you put them down for a nap. If that doesn’t work, I could ask the pediatrician for a kid safe antacid. Or you could just give the kid either pasta or cheese or orange juice to drink but not all three at once. Serving spaghetti does just as well, since half of it ends up on the kid’s head.

ACID REFLUX IN INFANTS AND CHILDREN Symptoms, Causes & Treatments

04:51
ACID REFLUX IN INFANTS AND CHILDREN Symptoms, Causes & Treatments OVERVIEW Infant reflux occurs when food backs up (refluxes) from a baby's stomach, causing the baby to spit up. Sometimes called gastroesophageal reflux (GER), the condition is rarely serious and becomes less common as a baby gets older. It's unusual for infant reflux to continue after age 18 months. Reflux occurs in healthy infants multiple times a day. As long as your baby is healthy, content and growing well, the reflux is not a cause for concern. Rarely, infant reflux can be a sign of a medical problem, such as an allergy, a blockage in the digestive system or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). SYMPTOMS Infant reflux generally isn't a cause for concern. It's very unusual for the stomach contents to have enough acid to irritate the throat or esophagus and to cause signs and symptoms. • Isn't gaining weight • Consistently spits up forcefully, causing stomach contents to shoot out of his or her mouth (projectile vomiting) • Spits up green or yellow fluid • Spits up blood or a material that looks like coffee grounds • Refuses food • Has blood in his or her stool • Has difficulty breathing or a chronic cough • Begins spitting up at age 6 months or older • Is unusually irritable after eating CAUSES In infants, the ring of muscle between the esophagus and the stomach — the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) — is not yet fully mature. That allows stomach contents to flow backward. Eventually, the LES will open only when your baby swallows and will remain tightly closed at other times, keeping stomach contents where they belong. The factors that contribute to infant reflux are common in babies and often can't be avoided. These factors include: • Babies lying flat most of the time • An almost completely liquid diet • Babies being born prematurely TREATMENTS Infant reflux usually clears up by itself. In the meantime, your doctor might recommend: • Giving your baby smaller, more-frequent feedings. • Interrupting feedings to burp your baby. • Holding your baby upright for 20 to 30 minutes after feedings. • Eliminating dairy products, beef or eggs from your diet if you're breast-feeding, to test if your baby has an allergy. • Switching the type of formula you feed your baby. • Using a different size of nipple on baby bottles. A nipple that is too large or too small can cause your baby to swallow air. • Thickening formula or expressed breast milk slightly and in gradual increments with rice cereal. Although recognized as a reasonable strategy, thickening adds potentially unnecessary calories to your baby's diet. Medication Reflux medications aren't recommended for children with uncomplicated reflux. These medications can prevent absorption of calcium and iron, and increase the risk of certain intestinal and respiratory infections. However, a short-term trial of an acid-blocking medication — such as ranitidine for infants age 1 month to 1 year or omeprazole (Prilosec) for children age 1 year or older — might be recommended if your baby: • Has poor weight gain and more-conservative treatments haven't worked • Refuses to feed • Has evidence of an inflamed esophagus • Has chronic asthma and reflux Surgery Rarely, the lower esophageal sphincter is surgically tightened to prevent acid from flowing back into the esophagus. This procedure (fundoplication) is usually done only when reflux is severe enough to prevent growth or to interfere with your baby's breathing.

Should I worry if my baby projectile vomits?

00:57
Half of all babies will be spitty. So, one out of 2 babies will be spitty. That's normal. Something called projectile vomiting is where babies will spit out a very long distance. If your baby does that once, no problem, but if your baby does that continually, especially between the ages of 4 and 6 six weeks, then that is something you do want to go into see your doctor for. There is something called pyloric stenosis which is uncommon. Which usually happens about 3, 4, to 6 weeks of age. It's where babies, at the end of their stomach the muscle will thicken. So, food has challenges in passing through there, and so the food will then come out quite forcefully. That's something that is called projectile vomiting. That is something that you want to go in and be seen for, and not wait for the 2 month visit to be looked at.

what can i take for heartburn while pregnant | How to Treat Heartburn during Pregnancy

what can i take for heartburn while pregnant | How to Treat Heartburn during Pregnancy For many people, pregnancy can cause different problems and heartburn is one of them. Uncomfortable and frustrating, heartburn can make you forget about the pleasure of being pregnant as your mind becomes occupied by the pain and burning sensation in your chest. There are two main causes of heartburn during pregnancy – the ongoing hormonal changes in the body and the increasing pressure on the stomach from the growing womb. The hormonal changes in the body can cause the muscles in the esophagus to relax more frequently. This allows stomach acid to flow back up into the esophagus, especially when you’re lying down to take a nap or after you’ve eaten a large meal. With each passing day, your uterus expands to accommodate the growth of your baby. This means your stomach is under more pressure, which also results in food and acid being pushed back up into your esophagus. It’s common to have heartburn during the first and third trimesters, but it doesn’t mean you have to just bear with it throughout your pregnancy. While medicines are not recommended for pregnancy-related heartburn as they can have lasting effects on the unborn baby, there are many simple things that can help you deal with this problem and maintain a healthy pregnancy. Here are the top 5 ways to treat heartburn during pregnancy. 1. Eat Less, But More Often When you are pregnant, you start paying more attention to your diet so your baby stays healthy. But this does not mean that you need to eat for two, it is just an unwarranted pregnancy myth. In fact, overeating is a big “NO” as it can worsen the symptoms of heartburn. 2. Sleep on Your Left Side Whether it is during pregnancy or any other time, health experts recommend sleeping on your left side. Lying on your left side at night may decrease acid reflux, as it is more difficult for acid to flow into the esophagus while you’re in this position. 3. Chew Gum Chewing gum after eating can help prevent heartburn, which is just one of the many discomforts that you will face during pregnancy. It stimulates your salivary glands, and saliva can help neutralize the acid that has backed up into the esophagus. 4. Elevate the Head of Your Bed To prevent heartburn while sleeping, you can raise the head of your bed. Elevation will prevent acid from flowing back up into the esophagus. Plus, it will prevent swelling in the legs. 5. Sip on Water Sipping small amounts of water throughout the day is another simple and effective way to keep heartburn under control during pregnancy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Links: For more tips see our blog: https://naturalhealthcarenhc.blogspot.com like us in Facebook: https://goo.gl/MmjtyD Follow us on twitter: https://goo.gl/USDg3k Google plus: https://goo.gl/B5B2oz Special thanks to: http://www.top10homeremedies.com If you found this information cool, useful or valuable please hit share and let your friends benefit from this as well!

What medications are safe to take during pregnancy? - Dr. Shefali Tyagi

01:23
Any medicine in pregnancy should not be taken without doctor's advice.Be it antibiotics, be it sleeping pills all have an effect on the baby. Most of the medicines cross the placenta, reach the baby and they can have effects on the baby. Many of the pills that are taking in non pregnant state are not allowed in the pregnancy. For example voveran tablets which are taken for back pain can really harm the baby. Pregnant women having any kind of trouble or ache or infection should consult the doctor and should take prescribed medicine.Sleeping pills are not at all recommended because they cross the placenta and sedate the baby.So baby will become depressed which is not good for the baby..

Baby spasms (diagnosed as colic)

00:41
Does anyone understand what my daughter is doing? She is 9 months old and has been doing this for about 3 months. It started off happening once a day or so, but now happens 20+ times a day. At first she only did it whilst in her buggy. But now she even does it in her sleep. As well as the chest clutching and leg straining, her eyes roll, her face flushes red, she struggles to breathe, she grunts, and her jaw drops and locks. Doctors claim that its colic!! Does anyone else have a baby that does this? I just want to shed some light on to what is happening to my baby. She appears to be in pain and its very upsetting.

Can baby formula cause spit-up, vomiting, hiccups, & reflux? What can I do?

01:22
You mentioned that you have a 6 week old little girl who's struggling with possible reflux issues, you're wondering if it has something to do with allergies, and those are usually two separate issues, reflux and allergies don't necessarily go hand in hand. But babies who are really spitty could have either a milk intolerance or some sort of reflux issue. So it would be best to bring up your concerns with your daughter's pediatrician, and they can check her out and ask you more specific questions and decide what the issue is, and based on that, what treatment would be best. If it's reflux, then that treatment might be medication, or there could just be different things that you could try to reduce the amount of spitup that she has. For example, you could try feeding her smaller amounts more frequently throughout the day, and you mentioned that you've done a few things like keeping her upright and burping her well, and all sorts of things like that--that's good, and the pediatrician will probably encourage you to continue doing those things. Say she had a milk intolerance. The doctor might talk to you about switching formula types--but don't switch formula until you've talked to the pediatrician first. Good luck with everything, and if you have any other questions for me, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page, and recommend us to your friends and family too.

How to check for stridor

00:10
Baby's regular check up for her stridor. They put a camera in her nose and check to see if it's inflammation that's causing her stridor due to reflux or if it might be something more serious where they would have to put her under anesthesia and possibly need surgery. In these appointments they also indicate medicine. There's no one medicine fits all. It's all trial an error. My daughter has taken many different ones and the only one that seems to help is Ranitidine although she cries often which makes me believe that it's not fully working for her. They also raise the amount she's taking in every appointment because of weight gain. Questions my doctor often asks is if she's choking, is she making the high pitch noise during sleep, when does it most occur, has she needed to go to the E.R. for pneumonia or a breathing problem, etc.

Emergency Acid Reflux Symptoms

07:56
Emergency Acid Reflux Symptoms. What Is Acid Reflux?. Do you ever feel a fiery, tingling sensation at the back of your mouth after eating a heavy meal or spicy foods? What you’re feeling is stomach acid or bile flowing back up into your esophagus. This is often accompanied by heartburn, which is characterized by a burning or tightening sensation in the chest behind the breastbone. According to the American College of Gastroenterology, more than 60 million Americans experience acid reflux at least once per month, and more than 15 million Americans may experience it every day. Though it can occur in anyone, including infants and children, acid reflux is most common in pregnant women, people who are obese, and older adults. While it’s normal to experience acid reflux occasionally, those who experience it more than twice per week may have a more serious problem known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD is a chronic form of acid reflux that can irritate the lining of your esophagus, causing it to become inflamed. This inflammation may lead to esophagitis, which is a condition that may make it difficult or painful to swallow. Constant esophageal irritation may also result in bleeding, narrowing of the esophagus, or a precancerous condition called Barrett’s esophagus. Acid Reflux Symptoms. The symptoms of acid reflux in teenagers and adults can include: *a burning sensation in the chest that gets worse when bending over or lying down and usually occurs after a meal. *frequent burping. *nausea. *abdominal discomfort. *a bitter taste in the mouth. *a dry cough. The symptoms of acid reflux in infants and young children can include: *wet burps. *hiccups. *frequent spitting up or vomiting, especially after meals. *wheezing or choking due to acid backup into windpipe and lungs. *spitting up after age 1, which is the age at which spitting up should stop. *irritability or crying after meals. *refusing to eat or only eating small amounts of food. *difficulty gaining weight. What Causes Acid Reflux?. Acid reflux is the result of a problem that occurs during the digestive process. When you swallow, the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) normally relaxes to let food and liquid travel from your esophagus to your stomach. The LES is a circular band of muscles located between your esophagus and stomach. After food and liquid enter the stomach, the LES tightens and closes the opening. If these muscles relax irregularly or weaken over time, stomach acid can back up into your esophagus. This causes acid reflux and heartburn. It’s considered erosive if an upper endoscopy shows breaks in the esophageal lining. It’s considered nonerosive if the lining looks normal. What Are the Risk Factors for Acid Reflux?. Though it can occur in anyone, including infants and children, acid reflux is most common in pregnant women, people who are obese, and older adults. When Is an Upper Endoscopy Needed?. You may need an upper endoscopy so that your doctor can make sure there are no serious underlying reasons for your symptoms. You may need this procedure if you have: *difficulty or pain with swallowing. *GI bleeding. *anemia, or a low blood count. *weight loss. *repeated vomiting. If you’re a man who’s older than 50 years old and you have nighttime reflux, are overweight, or you smoke, you may also need an upper endoscopy to determine the cause of your symptoms. Acid Reflux Treatment: The type of treatment for acid reflux that your doctor will suggest depends on your symptoms and your health history. Common medical treatments include: *histamine-2 receptor blockers to reduce stomach acid production, such as famotidine (Pepcid) and ranitidine (Zantac). *proton pump inhibitors to reduce stomach acid production, such as esomeprazole (Nexium) and omeprazole (Prilosec). *medications to strengthen the LES, such as baclofen (Kemstro). *surgeries to reinforce and strengthen the LES. *antacids to neutralize stomach acid. Making some simple lifestyle changes can also help treat acid reflux. These include: *raising the head of the bed or using a wedge pillow. *avoiding lying down for two hours after meals. *avoiding eating for two hours before bed. *avoiding wearing tight clothing. *limiting your consumption of alcohol. *quitting smoking. *losing weight if you’re overweight. You should also avoid avoid foods and beverages that trigger acid reflux, including: *citrus fruits. All Photos Licensed Under CC Source : www.pexels.com www.pixabay.com www.commons.wikimedia.org

Treat and Stop Acid Reflux with Natural Medicine - Dr. Patti Kim, ND

04:57
Low stomach acid causes most Acid Reflux symptoms, according to Dr. Patti Kim, ND (Naturopathic Doctor). In this video interview, Dr. Kim discusses: 1) The symptoms of Acid Reflux, including burning, heat or pain sensation in chest and/or throat area, regurgitation, belching due to the sphincter being weakened, feeling full sooner than normal, chronic sore throats or laryngitis. 2) The conventional treatment for Acid Reflux, including calcium carbonate antacids such as Tums, Maalox, Mylanta; or proton pump inhibitors such as Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid and Protonix. 3) That neutralizing stomach acid or stopping stomach acid production with artificial drugs can be harmful to the body because of the numerous side effects associated with the drugs, and that this type of conventional symptom treatment does not treat the root cause. 4) That stress is a primary cause of lowering stomach acid. 5) That stomach acids leak into the esophagus because of a weak sphincter (often due to stress). 6) Factors that influence acid reflux: poor nutrition, foods that cause inflammation, eating spicy foods and alcohol. 7) Natural Medicine treatment of acid reflux includes: stomach pH may be tested; goal is to raise stomach acid (or lower if too high) through dietary changes, exercise, herbs, nutritional supplements, digestive supplements and Homeopathic remedies. 8) Especially important is removal of processed foods and eating whole, organic foods. 9) Dr. Kim has a great success rate of stopping acid reflux: most of her patients are symptom free within a week. Management of heartburn during pregnancy - Dr. Rashmi Chaudhary

04:19
Heart burn in pregnancy is a very common and stressing problem which interferes with the lifestyle of a woman and because of that they are not able to eat. It also causes weight loss which panics the woman as well as their family members. The heart burn is also known as the reflux oesophagitis or acid indigestion. It mostly happens because of the disturbed hormonal status, increased level of the progesterone hormone which causes relaxation of the lower oesophageal sphincter and there is a reflux of the acid from the stomach to the oesophagus which causes a burning which starts from the bottom of the breasts towards the entire throat. Increased levels of progesterone hormone in pregnancy causes relaxation of the lower oesophageal sphincter as well as it decreases the motility of the tract. It increases the constipation as well as the enlarging uterus puts pressure over the diaphragm and the gut motility and all is disturbed. Fatty and fried food also aggravates the problem associated gall bladder also can increase the problem. So the management of heart burn in pregnancy depends upon the life style, healthy eating habits and some sort of modification in the dietary factor. We encourage the lady to have 3 meals, 3 snacks throughout the day. They should eat at a time less, but they should have frequent meals. They should take meals 2at 2 hours intervals. They should not be empty-stomached for 4 to 5 hours or longer than that. They should have lots of fluids. 3 to 4 litres of water intake should be there. They should increase the content of truffles in their normal diet. They should take more of fruits, green leafy vegetables and fibres. All these will relieve the constipation and improve the symptoms of heart burn. Tell them to avoid the very oily spicy foods because all these will cause relaxation of the lower oesophageal sphincters. After eating we advice them not to lie down immediately. We advice them to walk for 15 to 20 minutes so that this reflux problem is reduced. While they are sleeping they should sleep in a proper position, head end should be elevated, they can use 2 to 3 pillows below their shoulder and head. So that the reflux will be less. We can just minimize the problem, decrease the severity but not completely stop the problem of reflux oesophagitis. If the patient is still having constipations with the dietary modifications, it is not improving then we advice them to go for some sort of laxatives like syrup duphalac or some mild lactihusk powder which has no impact on the developing embryo or the foetus. If these measures also doesn’t improve then we go for the syrups like mucaine gel syrup or local antacids either in the form of tablets or in the form of syrups. We advice 3 times a day after breakfast, lunch and dinner. It can be supplemented with the use of some anti acid medicines like rantac or pantoprazole. These medicines are taken twice a day preferably half an hour before meal. It gives an immediate symptomatic relief. It is very severe aggreveted condition when the gastritis is too much, increasing we have to admit the patients to the hospital and we give them a very bland non spicy food and we put them on pantoprazole or IV rantac.
My 4 month old has been projectile vomiting for 2 months. How can I help her?

03:22
First of all, I'm so sorry to hear that you and your baby girl have been struggling so much for the past two months, it sounds like. I'm sure that you're, both, just so exhausted. It's good that you've been to the doctor about your concerns because the doctor's the only one who can truly make a diagnosis and decide if treatment in necessary. But if you're still concerned, and it sounds like you are, it's okay to call the pediatrician back and talk about all of your concerns and be candid about it. It's also okay to ask about certain conditions that can cause projectile vomiting. One of which is reflux. You can bring it up with them and they can decide if it warrants further investigation or treatment. Reflux affects about one in two babies, it's a pretty common condition. But some have a more mild form and others it's more severe. It's usually caused by some sort of malfunction. The little flap that goes over the baby's stomach doesn't close properly and it opens when it's not supposed to and allows stomach contents to come back up. Some babies outgrow it, this usually happens about seven to nine months. But other babies require medication and more treatment. So, again, the doctor can decide if this is something that applies to your baby. They can perform an exam, watch your babies growth, see what the growth trends have been and then decide if medication would be helpful or not. In the meantime, there's a few things you can try and maybe it will reduce the amount of vomit you're seeing. One of the first things you can do is pay attention to position. If babies stay upright for 30 to 60 minutes after a feeding, then that can help keep stomach contents down where they belong. Sometimes parents put the diaper on really tightly and this increases abdominal pressure forcing contents back up, so perhaps you could loosen your little girls diaper and see if that helps. The timing of feedings and the amount your baby eats may be the most effective things to pay attention to. Babies take about two hours for their stomach contents to empty, so if they're eating more frequently than that then that can cause them to vomit. So, try to space out her feedings by, at least, two hours. Many parents want to interrupt feedings to burp their baby. But, it's more natural to do it when your baby wants to do it. This can help prevent a build up of gas and your baby's burping up bubbles this brings stomach contents with it. So anything you can do to reduce gas is also going to help. So burp your baby but wait till she breaks naturally, like switching from one breast to the other. If you suspect that you have an overabundance of milk and that your baby's overeating at each feeding then perhaps you can feed your baby on one side and then just pump the other side. This will help you build up a stock of milk, in case you need to go out every now and then or you're going back to work. But this can also help your baby not throw up as much if they're not taking in too much at each meal. If mothers are making a ton of milk the baby will just eat and eat and eat because it's there. Usually they have a little auto-shutoff telling them it's time to eat, but not always. Sometimes they just keep going until their tummies are so full they just throw it all back up. I hope that these tips help, and again, it's okay to go to the doctor and ask if your baby has an issue with reflux if they haven't already talked about this. Good luck with everything, I hope the next coming days and months ahead are easier for you. If you have any other questions for me, feel free to ask them on our facebook page at facebook.com/intermountainmoms. And recommend us to your friends and family to.
