Yoga For Diabetes | Control High Blood Sugar | Therapy, Exercise, Workout | Part 1

Yoga For Diabetes: Yoga helps reduce high blood pressure along with blood sugar levels. Daily yoga exercises help reduce the symptoms of diabetes and blood pressure. Type 2 diabetes is a lifestyle problem, which can lead to complications. Stress, unhealthy diet and poor fitness are some of the causes of diabetes. How yoga can help fight diabetes - Regular yoga practice can help reduce the level of sugar in the blood, along with lowering blood pressure, keeping a weight check, reducing the symptoms and slowing the rate of progression of diabetes, as well as lessening the severity of further complications. Let's see how. - Like for most lifestyle diseases, stress is one of the major reasons for diabetes. It increases the secretion of glucagon hormones in the body, responsible for increasing blood glucose levels. Consistent practice of yoga asanas (body postures), pranayamas (breathing exercises) and a few minutes of daily meditation can help reduce stress in the mind and body. This, in turn, reduces glucagons and can also help improve insulin action. - The practice of yoga is also proven to reduce weight as well as control increasing weight, which is particularly important to keep diabetes in check.Sun Salutation and Kapal Bhati pranayama are one of the best ways to weight loss. - Diabetes can also be worsened with the occurrence of high blood pressure, or hypertension. Yoga asanas, such as the Corpse Pose, Bridge Pose, Child Pose, and Yoga Nidra are all helpful in controlling hypertension. - Other yoga postures that are helpful in diabetes include Vajrasana (kneeling pose), Shoulder Stand, Plow Pose, Lying-Down Body Twist, Bow Posture, Two-Legged Forward Bend, and Sitting Half-Spinal Twist. - Nadi Shodhan Pranayama is also good for diabetics. It helps release stress and flush out toxins from the body. Another excellent technique to combat diabetes is a unique breathing technique, Sudarshan Kriya, designed by Sri SriRavi Shankar. It has helped several diabetics across the world reduce blood glucose levels and control their condition from getting worse. You can learn the technique at an Art of Living Part-1 program. - A few minutes of regular meditation practice also acts as an excellent stress-buster for the mind and body. Interestingly, while stress is the major cause of diabetes, the condition in turn results in patients getting highly stressed about it, which further aggravates the problem. It has also been observed that most diabetics lose self-confidence and end up brooding over their condition. This is where meditation can help -- restoring their confidence levels so that they gain the strength to fight the condition and live well. - Craving for sweets is a common occurrence in diabetes. Regular practice of meditation can help drop such cravings to a large extent

Exercise Could Help Manage Type 1 Diabetes

00:54
A small study suggests aerobic exercise can benefit people with type 1 diabetes who are on insulin pumps. The three-month study found six people with type 1 diabetes who did aerobic workouts had better blood sugar control, used less insulin and had fewer high blood sugar events than others who did not exercise. Type 1 diabetes causes the body's immune system to attack insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, living people with the disease with little to none of the hormone. Insulin is necessary for the body to use the carbohydrates found in food. Researchers say exercise alone cannot be used to treat the disorder, and more studies with more participants must be done. http://www.upi.com/Health_News/2016/10/14/Exercise-can-help-manage-type-1-diabetes/5061476471009/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

7 Foods To Avoid When You Have Type 2 Diabetes

04:45
Type 2 diabetes is a lifelong condition that, according to a recent study, is the most common form of diabetes. In this particular type of diabetes, a person’s body becomes incapable of making or using insulin in an effective way. This phenomenon is also referred to as insulin resistance. And that is why, it is also known as non-insulin dependent diabetes. Also, as you can imagine, people suffering from this type have a high level of blood sugar. The case of insulin resistance can get worse if a person has extra body fat. That is why, it is highly imperative to steer clear from food items that are loaded with saturated fats and they should exercise on a regular basis to keep body weight under check. So, today we’ve curated a list of certain types of foods that you must steer clear of if you’ve type 2 diabetes. These foods can raise the level of bad cholesterol and increase insulin resistance. And people who have this type of diabetes are at a high risk of developing heart-related problems. Staying away from these foods and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is crucial for one’s health and well-being. So, take a look at the types of food you must avoid if you have type 2 diabetes, here. 1. Sugar Sugar is a strict no-no for any diabetes patient, be it type 1 or 2. Foods like cookies, soda, etc., can raise the blood sugar level. So, avoid food items that have a high content of sugar in them to keep your blood sugar level in check. 2. Full-fat Dairy Products People suffering from type 2 diabetes have insulin that is resistant in performing the body functions like breakdown of glucose. And food products that have a high level of saturated fats in them are considered to exacerbate this problem. And that is why, it is advised to stay away from curd, cheese, etc. 3. Raisins Dried fruits like raisins are a great source of healthy nutrients and minerals, but they also have a high content of sugar in them. So, avoid them to keep your blood sugar level regulated. 4. Processed Meat People suffering from type 2 diabetes have a higher chance of developing heart diseases. And consumption of processed meat can increase that risk, as it can raise the cholesterol level and exacerbate the risk factors of this type of diabetes. 5. Baked Foods Baked food items have a certain kind of fat in them that can increase the level of bad cholesterol. Moreover, they are high in calories. Consuming baked food items on a regular basis can increase the case of insulin resistance. 6. Alcohol Very few people are aware of the fact that the organ that plays an important role in balancing the ratio of blood sugar and insulin is the liver. And it is well known that consuming alcohol is not good for the liver. So, cut down on the quantity of alcohol you consume to stay healthy. 7. Fried Foods Fried food items are loaded with saturated fats. Consuming such foods can cause an individual to gain extra weight, which can further exacerbate the case of insulin resistance. So, these are foods that you must avoid at any cost if you have type 2 diabetes. 20 Min Exercise Cuts Kid's Diabetes Risk

01:45
It's all fun and games to four-year-old Blake Farry. But his mom knows better. She makes sure he gets a daily dose of exercise. "I really want try to promote healthier living and I think starting young is the best thing to do," says Bridget Farry, mom. Research finds kids who are active are less likely to develop type 2 diabetes. It's estimated a third of children are overweight or obese, and that puts them at risk. "The biggest issue that you see is the diabetes and the high blood sugar. And the reason for that is that your body's insulin, the hormone that helps you control the blood sugars, is less effective," says Dr. Asjad Khan, pediatric endocrinologist with the Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. Dr. Khan treats kids with diabetes. "A lot of the kids end up with some sort of endocrine maladies, whether it's cholesterol problems, insulin resistance, boys with breast enlargement; there's usually some underlying endocrine abnormality," says Dr. Khan. Researchers wanted to find out how much exercise made a difference. It turns out, not much. A new study found kids who were active for just 20 minutes a day were more fit, had less body fat and fewer markers for diabetes. These results occurred without changing what the kids ate, isolating the importance and impact of physical activity. Reinforcing it to moms like Farry. "Getting them outside, exercising... a lot of parents now just want to get them in front of the TV's or the games," says Farry. Experts believe a balanced approach will pay off in our kids' well-being. "Some people need to be more heavy on the exercise, some people need to focus more on the sugared drinks, some people need to focus more on the portion size, but everybody has to look at what they are doing," says Dr. Khan. How to Counsel Type 1 Diabetes Patients Who Exercise

11:42
http://bit.ly/1GIxxUx For people with type 1 diabetes who want to exercise, and especially those who want to get into extreme exercise like running a marathon, you have to help them and guide them. You have to balance the insulin with glucose levels. You have to have the right amount of insulin and match it with carbohydrates as best as you can. The rule of thumb is that you always start exercise when your glucose level is above 90 mg/dL and preferably don't start exercise if your glucose level is above 250 mg/dL because that means you are relatively insulin-deficient. If you are starting at 90 mg/dL, you might want to take 10-20 g of carbohydrate before you start, even juice or something. Then, the key is that you need to monitor the glucose in response. If somebody is doing aerobic exercise like running or walking, and.... read more at: http://bit.ly/1GIxxUx http://youtu.be/VkLQzzNY4cY https://www.facebook.com/pages/Diabetes-Type-1-on-Children/1595522474030349

01:52

Yoga To Cure Diabetes | How to Control High Blood Sugar | Therapy, Exercise, Workout | Part 2

55:58
Yoga To Cure Diabetes | How to Control High Blood Sugar | Therapy, Exercise, Workout | Part 2 Yoga For Diabetes: Yoga helps reduce high blood pressure along with blood sugar levels.

Should women with Type 1 Diabetes do workout in gym? - Dr. Mahesh DM

02:13
The Type 1 diabetes and working out for women is extremely important and forms an important aspect of diabetes. As such all the patients with diabetes need to be active and need to exercise, whether it is in the gym, walking, running, skipping, jogging, any form of exercise is extremely good especially those with Type 1 diabetes should go for active exercises because it will help them to regulate not only the glucose control, but also improve their weight and maintain their fitness. This will also help in preventing the complications related to diabetes, but also cardiovascular disease, problems related to the joints, the bone health and also improve their glycemic control and hence the amount of insulin requirement will come down. The important thing to note for a woman who is planning to exercise is what age she is, if she is in reproductive age, whether they are planning pregnancy or pregnant. Consult a specialist doctor before undertaking or going to the gym and before going to the gym, they have to check their blood glucose levels, take an appropriate snack, and so that the risk of hypoglycemia is reduced. So all women with Type 1 diabetes can do any kind of exercise including going to the gym and they should be aware of the risk of hypoglycemia and always take a snack every 20 – 30 minutes before going to gym. This will improve their overall health and wellbeing.

Type 2 diabetes symptoms - Diabetes Exercise Safety

03:41
Diabetes Mellitus - Type 2 diabetes symptoms - Diabetes Exercise Safety 👉👉👉 Get It Here: http://tinyurl.com/lydyceh 👈👈👈 Diabetes Exercise Safety Don't forget these safety precautions before your next workout. You know exercise is key to better living with diabetes. It enhances insulin sensitivity and lowers blood sugar levels. But if you have diabetes, you need to take extra safety precautions whenever you work out. Check with your doc. If you're overweight or have high blood pressure, a heart condition, or vision or foot problems, talk to your doctor before starting an exercise routine. Ask which kind of exercise -- and how much -- is safe for you. To prevent you from overdoing it, your doctor may ask you to break up your daily workout into mini sessions. Measure your blood sugar level before, during, and after exercise. If your blood sugar is too high or too low, or if you have ketones in your blood or urine, avoid strenuous physical activity. In some people with diabetes, exercise can actually worsen high or low blood sugar. Fuel up. If your blood sugar is below 100 mg/dL, eat something light before you exercise. Keep a carb-rich snack, such as fruit, crackers, or rice cakes (or glucose tablets) on hand in case your blood sugar drops too low. Hydrate. Diabetes can inhibit the brain's signal for thirst and lead to dehydration. Be sure to drink extra water before, during, and after exercise. Avoid hot weather workouts. Some folks with diabetes lose the ability to regulate body temperature. (This is caused when diabetes disrupts the body's autonomic nervous system, which inhibits normal blood flow to the skin and the ability to sweat.) Avoid heat exhaustion by exercising indoors on very hot days. Take care of your feet. Diabetes can cause numbness and decreased blood circulation in the feet (peripheral neuropathy). Wear shoes that fit well, never exercise barefoot, and inspect your feet before and after every workout. Treat any blisters, abrasions, or injuries promptly. Wear a medical ID tag whenever you exercise. If an emergency arises, it will alert caregivers that you have diabetes. Healthy Diet, Moderate Exercise Reduce Diabetes Risk Better Than Drugs

04:14
http://preventdisease.com/news/articles/healthy_diet_diabetes.shtml Healthy Diet, Moderate Exercise Reduce Diabetes Risk Better Than Drugs The study, published in this week's New England Journal of Medicine, presents the results of a large randomized trial conducted by the Diabetes Prevention Program Research Group between 1996 and 1999. The results were previously announced in a news conference given by Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson in November. Researchers randomly assigned 3,234 nondiabetic people at high risk for developing diabetes to receive a placebo, the drug Glucophage or to participate in a lifestyle modification program. The goals of lifestyle modification included at least a 7 percent reduction in weight and at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity per week. The groups were followed for an average of approximately three years to see which groups eventually developed diabetes. The lifestyle intervention reduced the incidence of diabetes by 58 percent compared to the placebo. Glucophage also reduced diabetes incidence compared to the placebo, but only by 31 percent. Drugs vs Lifestyle Many experts are encouraged by these findings and feel that they will have considerable impact for millions of people in the United States. "This study is a big deal with considerable implications for public health and clinical practice," says Charles Clark, director of the Indiana University Diabetes Research and Training Center. "There are probably 12 million people who meet the criteria [of the study] and an equal number who are at somewhat less risk." Type 2, or adult onset diabetes, is a metabolic disorder that results when the body cannot make enough or properly use insulin, a hormone that converts food to energy. This differs from type 1 diabetes, in which people must take daily insulin shots because their bodies don't produce any insulin, and is most commonly diagnosed in children and young adults. According to the American Diabetes Association, type 2 diabetes accounts for 90 to 95 percent of diabetes cases. While lifestyle changes may be more difficult to make and adhere to than taking a pill, experts say that making the transition to a healthy diet and regular exercise is key. "The important points of the study are that minimal changes in lifestyle are within the possibility of many different free-living individuals of different ethnicity and culture, and that it works better than medications," says Dr. Philip Orlander, professor and director of endocrinology at the University of Texas, Houston. Even though Glucophage proved to have preventative benefits, Orlander feels it would be unfortunate if the take-away message was that, "pills are easier to take than exercising 20 minutes a day and are almost as good." An Ounce of Prevention These findings are also significant because experts say that preventing diabetes before it develops is less difficult than controlling the disease after onset. "Currently only 15 percent of people with type 2 diabetes are controlled with diet and exercise alone," says Dr. Steven Edelman, professor of medicine in the Division of Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine. "The main reason for this is that they are too far advanced in their natural history and multiple drugs/insulin are needed to control the diabetes, which is not easy." Physicians say these findings will help them make recommendations for people who are at high risk for developing the disease. "We need not wait for them to get diabetes and the complications of diabetes," Dr. David Nathan of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston told ABC NEWS Medical Correspondent John McKenzie on World News Tonight. "We can do something earlier." "The bottom line is that when interventions are introduced early in the natural history of diabetes, it is possible to make significant impact," says Edelman.
