The Type 1 diabetes and working out for women is extremely important and forms an important aspect of diabetes. As such all the patients with diabetes need to be active and need to exercise, whether it is in the gym, walking, running, skipping, jogging, any form of exercise is extremely good especially those with Type 1 diabetes should go for active exercises because it will help them to regulate not only the glucose control, but also improve their weight and maintain their fitness. This will also help in preventing the complications related to diabetes, but also cardiovascular disease, problems related to the joints, the bone health and also improve their glycemic control and hence the amount of insulin requirement will come down. The important thing to note for a woman who is planning to exercise is what age she is, if she is in reproductive age, whether they are planning pregnancy or pregnant. Consult a specialist doctor before undertaking or going to the gym and before going to the gym, they have to check their blood glucose levels, take an appropriate snack, and so that the risk of hypoglycemia is reduced. So all women with Type 1 diabetes can do any kind of exercise including going to the gym and they should be aware of the risk of hypoglycemia and always take a snack every 20 – 30 minutes before going to gym. This will improve their overall health and wellbeing.

It's all fun and games to four-year-old Blake Farry. But his mom knows better. She makes sure he gets a daily dose of exercise. "I really want try to promote healthier living and I think starting young is the best thing to do," says Bridget Farry, mom. Research finds kids who are active are less likely to develop type 2 diabetes. It's estimated a third of children are overweight or obese, and that puts them at risk. "The biggest issue that you see is the diabetes and the high blood sugar. And the reason for that is that your body's insulin, the hormone that helps you control the blood sugars, is less effective," says Dr. Asjad Khan, pediatric endocrinologist with the Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. Dr. Khan treats kids with diabetes. "A lot of the kids end up with some sort of endocrine maladies, whether it's cholesterol problems, insulin resistance, boys with breast enlargement; there's usually some underlying endocrine abnormality," says Dr. Khan. Researchers wanted to find out how much exercise made a difference. It turns out, not much. A new study found kids who were active for just 20 minutes a day were more fit, had less body fat and fewer markers for diabetes. These results occurred without changing what the kids ate, isolating the importance and impact of physical activity. Reinforcing it to moms like Farry. "Getting them outside, exercising... a lot of parents now just want to get them in front of the TV's or the games," says Farry. Experts believe a balanced approach will pay off in our kids' well-being. "Some people need to be more heavy on the exercise, some people need to focus more on the sugared drinks, some people need to focus more on the portion size, but everybody has to look at what they are doing," says Dr. Khan. You know exercise is key to better living with diabetes. It enhances insulin sensitivity and lowers blood sugar levels. But if you have diabetes, you need to take extra safety precautions whenever you work out. Check with your doc. If you're overweight or have high blood pressure, a heart condition, or vision or foot problems, talk to your doctor before starting an exercise routine. Ask which kind of exercise -- and how much -- is safe for you. To prevent you from overdoing it, your doctor may ask you to break up your daily workout into mini sessions. Measure your blood sugar level before, during, and after exercise. If your blood sugar is too high or too low, or if you have ketones in your blood or urine, avoid strenuous physical activity. In some people with diabetes, exercise can actually worsen high or low blood sugar. Fuel up. If your blood sugar is below 100 mg/dL, eat something light before you exercise. Keep a carb-rich snack, such as fruit, crackers, or rice cakes (or glucose tablets) on hand in case your blood sugar drops too low. Hydrate. Diabetes can inhibit the brain's signal for thirst and lead to dehydration. Be sure to drink extra water before, during, and after exercise. Avoid hot weather workouts. Some folks with diabetes lose the ability to regulate body temperature. (This is caused when diabetes disrupts the body's autonomic nervous system, which inhibits normal blood flow to the skin and the ability to sweat.) Avoid heat exhaustion by exercising indoors on very hot days. Take care of your feet. Diabetes can cause numbness and decreased blood circulation in the feet (peripheral neuropathy). Wear shoes that fit well, never exercise barefoot, and inspect your feet before and after every workout. Treat any blisters, abrasions, or injuries promptly. Wear a medical ID tag whenever you exercise. If an emergency arises, it will alert caregivers that you have diabetes. I can however say that many diabetics suffer their diabetes differently. My husband WAS a Type 2 Diabetic but due to calorie control, cutting back on high processed carbs/sugars and a little bit of walking has managed after 10 years to come off his insulin and is now classified by his specialist as a NON DIABETIC. Many of you are pushing alternative treatments, selling products etc that I do not and cannot recommend through this YouTube clip. Insulin which is produced by the pancreas lowers blood glucose. If insulin is not there or present in insufficient amount, it will cause diabetes. TYPES OF DIABETES AND SYMPTOMS The two types of diabetes are - type 1 and type 2. In type 1 insulin is not available in body while in type 2 insulin available but in very small quantity. Either may be the case, diabetes will be there. Around 10% of diabetic cases are of type 1 while 90% are of type 2. so we can see that a huge group of people are suffering from diabetes type 2 and this is because they have lot of extra fat. Symptoms of diabetes include increased urine output, thirst, hunger, blur vision, fatigue, unnecessary weight gain and loss. DIAGNOSE OF DIABETES AND ITS EFFECTS Diabetes is diagnosed by blood sugar (glucose) testing. The major complications of diabetes are both acute and chronic. Acute complications are dangerously elevated blood sugar or abnormally low blood sugar due to diabetes medications. Chronic complications are disease of the blood vessels (both small and large) that can damage the feet, eyes, kidneys, nerves, and heart. TREATMENT OF DIABETES Diabetes treatment depends on the type and severity of it. Type 1 diabetes is treated with insulin, exercise and a healthy diabetic diet. Type 2 diabetes is first treated with weight reduction than a diabetic diet along with exercise. If diabetes is not controlled by these measures, oral medications are used. If oral medications are still insufficient then insulin and other injectable medications are considered.
