LET'S BUILD SOMETHING: CNC Made Cabinet for Digital Media Center - FREE PLANS!

05:18
YES... That's what today's video is about... I have been using my CNC (X-Carve) mostly for little things so far, but I wanted to build a real piece of furniture "entirely" with it... At least for cutting the parts. The cabinet is made of birch plywood (didn't want to get fancy with expensive lumber as this originally started as an experiment) and I'd say it turned out quite nice. As you will see in the video, I originally planned using plexi-glass for the side openings and had planned adding a back-door (also using plexi-glass). I decided to discard both ideas as I made progress (didn't like either once I saw them in place). Anyway, the link to the plans (my gift to you) is listed below together with the link to my "DIY Panel Saw" video. Hope you enjoy this project and by all means share your thoughts! I'm always happy to hear your ideas!!! Also, give me a LIKE if you enjoy the video and of course... don't forget to SUBSCRIBE!!! As usual, while I may call out brands, there are no sponsors to this video. You can find the plans HERE: https://www.inventables.com/projects/cnc-made-cabinet-for-my-digital-media-center You can see how I built my panel saw HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DU-plzP3N8&t=93s Music: Symphony warm-up - Orquesta Filarmonica de la Ciudad de Mexico Aretes - https://www.incompetech.com (edited for duration)

Homemade CNC with 3D Printed Parts

13:00
Update 2018/08/18: I've made a new version, check it out here: https://youtu.be/24RslguGy58 This is a video about making my homemade DIY CNC with 3D printed parts. I've designed the 3D printed parts with Fusion 360. To control the machine I'm using an Arduino UNO with GRBL firmware and an Arduino CNC Shield. There are plenty of tutorials to find on how to connect and use it so I did not show it in the video. Here are some useful links: GRBL: https://github.com/gnea/grbl Arduino CNC Shield: https://blog.protoneer.co.nz/arduino-cnc-shield/ To power the NEMA 17 stepper motors I've converted an old ATX PC power supply and used the 12V output. The type of stepper motors I use for the Y- and Z axis are: 17HS19-2004S1, the type for the X axis is: 42BYGHW811. For the wiring I've used CAT5 network cable. Software that I mostly use to generate and send GCode: bCNC (https://github.com/vlachoudis/bCNC) Universal Gcode Sender (https://github.com/winder/Universal-G-Code-Sender) Easel by Inventables (http://easel.inventables.com) Fusion 360 with CAM (https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/overview) The 3D printer is an Anet A8. The parts are printed with PLA, mostly 20% infill and 0.2 or 0.4 setting. More info and a list of materials that I've used can be found on my GitHub page: https://github.com/leonvandenbeukel/Homemade-CNC. But beware that this machine is still 'under construction' and will be modified over time. I share my design for others to experiment and learn from it. Just a warning, at the moment I would not even recommend creating this machine yourself 😃 Please consider to subscribe to this channel if you want to see updates and other projects that I do. Homemade CNC with 3D Printed Parts - Redesign

11:56
This is the second version of my DIY homemade CNC. It's a complete redesign because of some issues that I've had with the first one. The main issue with the first version was that the wooden Y axis was getting warped (by moisture I guess). Also the bearings were too small and the aluminium X rails were not strong enough to carry the weigth. That's why I've switched over to use 20mm x 20mm square steel tubes for both Y- and X axis. I've designed the 3D printed parts with Fusion 360 and used Inkscape for the Y axis drilling template. To control the machine I'm using an Arduino UNO with GRBL firmware and an Arduino CNC Shield. There are plenty of tutorials to find on how to connect and use it so I did not show it in the video. Here are some useful links: * [GRBL](https://github.com/gnea/grbl) * [Arduino CNC Shield](https://blog.protoneer.co.nz/arduino-cnc-shield/) If you want to build one yourself you can download all the necessary files from the V2 directory on GitHub. But I don't have enough time to give you much support so build it at your own risk! :) GitHub link: https://github.com/leonvandenbeukel/Homemade-CNC The 3D printer I use is an Anet A8. The parts are printed with PLA, mostly 20% infill and 0.2 or 0.4 setting. Use higher infill for parts that must be stronger, for example the stepper motor mounts. Cost estimation: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vQY4hpT6myB3YeNzVlFZfTstJrkYJus8l174NMnyP0J1uP0NMzN-vVNtQ_hvMKP-WXqgEPKxjZSqRSU/pubhtml Dimensions: Base front multiplex Y panels are 710 x 180 x 22 mm or 28" x 7" x 0.86". The laminated MDF X Axis side panels are 180 x 370 mm or 7" x 14.4". The tubes are 20mm x 20mm (0.78") square steel tubes. The length of the Y Axis tubes is 1000mm (40") and the length for the X Axis is approx. 820mm (32"). As an alternative you could also use other dimensions than 20mm x 20mm (maybe even rounded tubes) as long as they are approximately that size. The Z axis tubes are 15mm x 15mm (0.59") aluminium square tubes, approx. 215mm long (8.5"). You should measure this for yourself, check the video build. The threaded rods for Y and X rails are 8 mm (0.31") stainless steel. To power the NEMA 17 stepper motors I've converted an old ATX PC power supply and used the 12V output. The type of stepper motors I use for the Y- and Z axis are: 17HS19-2004S1, the type for the X axis is: 42BYGHW811. For the wiring I've used CAT5 network cable. Software that I mostly use to generate and send GCode: * bCNC (https://github.com/vlachoudis/bCNC) * Universal Gcode Sender (https://github.com/winder/Universal-G-Code-Sender) * Easel by Inventables (http://easel.inventables.com) * Fusion 360 with CAM (https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/students-teachers-educators) All my designs are free but If you want to support my work (to buy for example 3D printer filaments and components): https://paypal.me/leonvandenbeukel Or buy me a coffee at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/beukel Thanks!

"Stupid Strong" CNC Build - PART 1 - THE FRAME

05:28
How to build a DIY CNC machine completely from scratch. I designed the machine in Fusion 360 from the ground up and had a local water jet cut the parts. The frame is built from 1/2" aluminum plate. Fully supported linear rails reduce the flex and NEMA 23 stepper motors drive the anti-backlash ball screws for the best possible performance on a budget. I used a TinyG motor controller in this project. In this episode I put together the frame and Y axis linear rails so I can see if this machine is even going to work. ++Learn Fusion 360 For Hobbyists and Woodworkers++ $30 OFF COUPON http://mikeandlauren.com/learnfusion360 Bill of materials for this machine (Affiliate Links): Total Price - $1,255.47 Aluminum Frame Local Shop ($520): 1/2" Aluminum Plate Stepper Motors ($66.00): http://amzn.to/2i6lN8B http://ebay.to/2Br5FX6 Motor Controller ($129): https://synthetos.myshopify.com/products/tinyg Z Axis Linear Rails ($41.40): http://amzn.to/2nlvbdU http://ebay.to/2iv0PEy X and Y Axis Linear Rails and Ball Screw Kit ($218.96): http://amzn.to/2j69yKl http://ebay.to/2j79CJD Z Axis Ball Screw ($37.99): http://amzn.to/2zU9Nm6 (Doesn't include supports or coupler) http://ebay.to/2AyFBN3 Longer X Axis Ball Screw ($29.36): http://amzn.to/2nlynX2 http://ebay.to/2ANj8fx Router Mount ($29.98): http://amzn.to/2zSf7pT http://ebay.to/2AmtsrD Small Drag Chain ($4.45): http://amzn.to/2jCWLyy http://ebay.to/2zVFRpB Big Drag Chain ($12.99): http://amzn.to/2nkBezH http://ebay.to/2i8tsU4 Wire ($21.95): http://amzn.to/2jBuS9M http://ebay.to/2zUyGOm Limit Switches ($11.59): http://amzn.to/2jCRbfr http://ebay.to/2nlAjyM Power Supply ($50): http://amzn.to/2i6poDD http://ebay.to/2zGuY6S Nuts and Bolts Order Screenshot ($81.80): http://bit.ly/2kepBca The Router I Used: http://amzn.to/2iaYjPV Transfer Punch Set: http://amzn.to/2jAtt3z Sign up for monthly income, expenses, and net worth reports! http://newsletter.mikeandlauren.com Help us make these videos: https://www.patreon.com/mikeandlauren Twitter - https://twitter.com/mikeandlauren Instagram - https://instagram.com/lauren_moyer/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/mikeandlaurentv Check out our blog: http://www.mikeandlauren.com

DIY CNC Enclosure - Silenced & Dust Free Solution (Cheap)

06:41
This is an easy to build CNC enclosure that will provide silence and dust free CNCing. All the OSB was found at construction site where they were building a house. 2x4s were purchased but there was lots at the construction site in the scrap pile. Polystyrene foam board was left overs from a past job, which ended up free. I think it was about $8 a board or something like that. I found pink foam board in the dumpster at the construction site that would have worked as well, but used this instead. 106db coming out of the CNC router was quieted to 75db. Which is the tone of a normal conversation. I could have coated the walls in egg crate foam for even more silence, I found this to do the job and the price was right. I am running a E3 CNC from Bobscnc. https://www.amazon.com/BobsCNC-E3-Router-Engraver-DeWalt/dp/B01M7VBAQN/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1508382246&sr=8-1&keywords=e3+cnc The Apple App I used was Decibel 10 . Subscribing is free and I recommend it because I am getting ready to launch some very fun videos soon as I creep towards my 4K thank you video!

CNC Build 2.0: CNC Router Parts 4' x 8' CNC Router

18:31
I have built the CNC Router Parts 4x8 Pro Kit. I started by building the base with six legs and the table all made out of 80/20 aluminum extrusion. Then I built the gantry which runs on linear rails along the sides of the table. I attached the z-axis to the gantry and attached all of the motors and wired everything up. After a little fiddling with Mach3, it seems to work. I finished up by working on the table which is a ¾ inch thick piece of MDF. http://www.cncrouterparts.com/ Dude, Where's My CNC? https://youtu.be/AzvbNVlcYU4 The CNC Build: Part 1: All About That Base https://youtu.be/XNvoFTV5tIE The CNC Build: Part 2 https://youtu.be/tyxgYFTkR_M The CNC Build: Part 3 https://youtu.be/5ThZws-858M Some of the tools used in this project Cantilever Clamps: http://amzn.to/1TJmAFx Milwaukee 18-volt Compact Drill: http://amzn.to/1sj855F CNC router parts http://www.cncrouterparts.com/pro4896-4-x-8-cnc-router-kit-p-253.html http://www.cncrouterparts.com/4-axis-digital-plug-and-play-nema-34-system-p-132.html http://www.cncrouterparts.com/22-kw-plug-and-play-spindle-vfd-system-p-353.html To see upcoming projects follow me on social media Instagram https://instagram.com/frank.howarth/ Twitter https://twitter.com/FrankHowarth Facebook https://www.facebook.com/FrankMakes G+ https://plus.google.com/+frankhowarth

Design for a DIY CNC Kit for Router or Plasma Cutter (part 3)

CNC Plans Review: http://www.makeitwithjason.com/cnc-hobby-router-plans-pdf-review-build-your-own-table/ This is the third installment of my how to build videos of a CNC machine that I am planning to build. Instead of buying a new one or from a kit, I'm basing it on a 3-axis drawer slide design that is uses stepper motors and threaded rods as the actuators, run via stepper drivers controlled by an Arduino UNO unit. I plan to start building this in a week, and hope to offer step-by-step videos and tutorials along the way on this Youtube channel, and on my blog, called http://MakeItWithJason.com I'm hoping to use it for several projects I have down the road--perhaps even to cut pieces for them! I want to use it for wood, metal, plastic, foam, and maybe even for cutting intricate pieces into meat :^P Enjoy, and feel free to leave comments--(please note, extremely obnoxious, negative comments will PROBABLY be removed).

DIY - DTC 5 Panel Bench (FREE PLANS)

18:56
FREE PLANS IN BOTH IMPERIAL & METRIC DIMENSIONS!!! The DTC 5 Panel Bench was specifically designed to fit in my Inventables X-Carve, CNC router. It was also designed within the Easel software that drives the CNC machine. The design was THEN drawn in my CAD program in order to reproduce the drawings for anyone wishing to build his bench. As such, the Imperial dimensions are all decimal rather than in fractions of an inch, and the metric dimensions are in rounded millimeter dimensions. If you are building this bench in either measurement systems, simply round off the numbers given in the dimensions in order to make it easier for you to build the bench. None of these dimensions are really crucial, and in fact, feel free to lengthen the bench, make it taller or shorter, wider or narrower, etc. The measurements given in the drawings can be regarded as general guidelines. Link to FREE PLANS download here: https://www.downeastthunder.com/2018/08/diy-dtc-5-panel-bench-free-plans/ I built the bench using Kreg brand, pocket hole fasteners (Kreg 1-1/4” course, pocket hole screws). I didn’t use any glue. You don’t have to use pocket hole screws. You can easily use standard wood screws with or without glue and use wood plugs to hide the screws. You don’t have to have an X-Carve CNC machine. You can cut out the parts with a band saw, jig saw, or hand saws. Your choice. I rounded all the exposed edges on both sides of the plywood with a 3/8” radius round over bit. The metric equivalent would be something close to 9mm radius for 18mm plywood. The entire bench is made from either 3/4” or 18mm cabinet grade plywood. You may have to fill in any voids in the plywood with wood putty before sanding and finishing. This is a fast & easy project that is economical to build. Makes great gifts! Many thanks to all my subscribers for participating, commenting, liking, and sharing my videos. Review: Cheap CNC Mill

14:51
Even though I said I won't do reviews of cheap items again, this time is somewhat special as it falls right into my interest area. Watch as I put a cheap kit CNC mill to the test, and see if it's something worth spending money on. It came to my attention in the discussion below that the controller board in this mill is counterfeit. For that reason I cannot in good conscience recommend that you get the mill with that controller. However, it is a good platform which they copied, and if you're interested in either buying your own from Planet CNC who makes the originals, or even building your own, visit the links below: https://planet-cnc.com/ Plans for a self build of their first version controller: https://planet-cnc.com/diy/ If you're interested at looking closer at the CNC mill, visit the Gearbest website here, and if you choose to get it, you can also for a limited time get 12% off the list price: http://bit.ly/2fTaEtT coupom:GBTE enjoy12% off Summer 3D printer sale http://bit.ly/2fTMeAu Gearbest Autumn Super Bumper Harvest Sale coupon for ALL 10% OFF: GB10% http://bit.ly/2wN6sTl Electronic Tools & 3D Printers coupon for Tools 12% OFF : GBHarvestE http://bit.ly/2gLPn23 These are not affiliate links, and I earn nothing if you choose to spend any money on Gearbest. How to build a CNC part 3a

16:18
I have re uploaded this video to resolve issues that I had with the first one and the YouTube compiler. I hope that this video will give enough detailed information on this Open Source CNC project Z axis that when you get the plans fro the Teep Forum, you will be able to quickly assemble your CNC with these specific build plans. We will be covering allot of information in this video but it is set up as a step by step aid to put yours together. I would like your feedback or video responses to this video as aid to others to build one of there own. This CNC is built of common parts that have good tolerances so that a fine detailed part can be made. By the use of high quality drawer slides in place of lineal bearings and polished shafts we have been able to cut the total cost of this to less then 500 US dollars. that is not bad for a complete CNC with computer controlled function and great resolution for parts. With an extended build are of 25" X x 36" Y x 12" Z this is a good sized hobby CNC that can sustain heavy use and long term function. with the high speed router it will be capable of cutting aluminum steal and all plastics Stay tuned for other videos in this series and the completion of this How to CNC

DIY CNC Woodburning Photographs! - With Free Software!

05:06
A few weeks ago I had some success with attaching a wood burning tool to my CNC and doing some cool designs. Then I got to thinking about doing photographs when I stumbled onto some software that would convert an image to a raster and then speed up or slow down the side to side movement of the CNC. The results are pretty awesome after a lot of trial and error. This is still a work in progress but the software works, is free, and can do some really cool work. The software is called, "G-ray" and the latest version is 4.1 (although the software was written years ago) The software link: http://hobbycncart.com/forum/46-234-1 There are some really cool pictures further down in the forum discussion. Another discussion on it was found here: https://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php?topic=24776.0 Best of luck and do share your results!

Carbide Create DIY CNC Software - Free!

12:57
Carbide Create software is now free and unlocked for use on any CNC machine! It's pretty awesome software. The folks at Carbide 3D have also added many features INCLUDING tabs and V carving that makes it extremely useful for many CNC projects. This is my first test with the program and I'm impressed. Many thanks to the guys there. (As a side note I may get around to building a Shapeoko one day. That's how much I appreciate them sharing their software. Great work guys!)
