FSIS is pleased to make available a new DVD, which provides operators of small, very small, and custom-exempt slaughter and processing facilities detailed guidance on how to comply with agency regulations concerning removal of SRMs. The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, under a cooperative agreement with FSIS, developed this training and reference guide titled "Specified Risk Material, Identification, Removal and Disposal." The DVD provides diagrams and other references as well as a 17-minute video providing a step-by-step, hands-on demonstration on how a typical, very small facility removes SRMs and complies with the regulations.

All seven FSMA core rules require general training of individuals or teams. Those team members identified as “Qualified Individuals” must be adequately prepared to take on this role by receiving education and training or must the have what FDA considers to be appropriate food safety experience. By including training in the regulation, FDA makes specific types of training mandatory. About Food Safe's HACCP Training Hi and welcome to this Food Safe video about our HACCP Master Class training programmes. To begin with, what is HACCP all about? HACCP for hazard, analysis, critical, control, point. Its origins lie in the early NASA space programme where the methodology was refined to proactively protect astronaut food. It proved so successful that, since then, a HACCP based methodology has grown to become the global standard for food safety management. So, who will benefit from our HACCP training? Operators, supervisors, quality coordinators, supply chain and warehouse teams, engineers, managers, business owners, suppliers to food companies, contractors, chefs, students and trainees looking to further food safety knowledge will benefit from our HACCP training. Our trainees come from a range of sectors including seafood, meat, dairy, processing, produce, horticulture, manufacturing, packaging, warehousing, hospitality, supermarkets and retail food companies. Are there different levels of HACCP training? Yes, we offer trainees a range of programmes to choose from, starting from basic introduction to HACCP, through to levels 3, 4 and 5 for developers, implementers and reviewers of HACCP applications. Take a look at our page online to choose the right option for you. We explain “what” the different groups of food safety hazards are, introducing foreign matter, chemicals, allergens and microbiology hazards, in simple terms. We provide multi sector expertise from farms where chemicals are the focus in a HACCP application, all the way through to fork, when food is consumed. The focus here is storage and retail service controls, where temperature regulation is important to minimize microbiological growth in perishable food! We review a range of simple good manufacturing practice controls such as hand washing, personal hygiene, red line procedures as well as more complex critical control points such as, pH, and time and temperature combinations linked to product density, flow-rates and viscosity. We explain “when and how” loss of control is managed and why corrective action is at least a three-step process, including restoration of control, disposal and prevention of re-occurrence. We introduce you to crisis management techniques such as: preventative actions, problem solving, root-cause-analysis, minimising risks from confirmation bias, and how to implement the latest human factors learning from the aviation sector into the food processing environment. This understanding helps trainees cope with risk from non-conformances and how to mange the process more effectively. On successful achievement, trainees earn a HACCP training certificate at the end of our programmes in addition to a tool-kit of useful, ready-to-apply skills. The global food brands we work with, often ask us if our HACCP training is globally standardized for application around the world? Absolutely! Food Safe’s training is based on the globally recognized, Codex Alimentarius methodology used by countries around the world. To simplify this learning and standardization process, we visually hand-walk trainees though the principles of HAACP and the Codex Alimentarius steps with contextual examples.

In this video we are going to review the A&D Weighing FX-700CT balance. Taking the FX700CT out of the box the scale weighs in carats and grams. The balance features multiple weighing units including ct, g, oz, lb, ozt, dwt, grains and even a user-programmable unit for conversion applications such as paper weight which is calculated as g/m2 (grams per square meter If you are a jeweler you can weigh lots of precious gem stones up to 760 carats and the FX-700CT increments in 0.001 carats, also referred to as 1 point. The simple and clear reverse-backlit LCD display provides optimum viewing of the weight readings. The FX700CT is NOT approved for trade (Non-NTEP) so this carat scale would be used for sorting diamonds by weight or maybe appraisals verses selling diamonds by weight. The breeze break top pivots left or right to allow for easy access from the top for pipette or burette displacement into a weigh dish. The weigh sensor uses A&D's patented Super Hybrid Sensor. This is not a low cost strain gauge loadcell that are notorious for the numbers crawling up and down if you leave a sample on the weighing platform. For weighing applications where a mass is increased or decreased over a period of time you should refrain for using a loadcell scale. Applications such as calibrating infusion pump flow rates where liquid is either removed or added to a plastic beaker will find the Super Hybrid Sensor delivers consistent accurate weighing results. When the FX-700CT balance is first installed it should be calibrated to ensure accurate weighing results. Every location in the world is positioned differently to "magnetic north" and therefore the acceleration of gravity is slightly different. The balance is external calibration and the weight is NOT included. Calibration is user selectable using either a 150g, 100g, 50g or 20g calibration weight. We offer a full line of optional calibration weights from Troemner. I think we really covered just about everything except the weighing pan measures 3.5 inches in diameter and has an RS-232 interface allowing you to connect the FX700CT to an A&D Printer, AD-8920 remote display or computer for data acquisition using A&D free WinCT software that allows you to import weight readings into Excel or Word. We do offer an optional USB to 9 pin RS-232 converter since most pc now only come with a USB port verses a 9 pin serial port.
