My libido and sex drive is high all the time (which my wife loves!), I’ve gained muscle and strength, my body fat is lower (lost 2 inches around my waist =)) and I’m just generally happier and more positive. All good stuff… However, my wife is now telling me that this is the same as taking steroids, like testosterone injections. Like what bodybuilders take. She says this isn’t natural. I don’t agree, but she’s worried. Can you please make a video about this, so I can put this topic to rest?” So the short answer to your question is that NO, taking AlphaViril or other testosterone boosting supplements is NOT at all like taking testosterone injections or “steroids”. Most Supplements Don’t Work First, most of these supplements don’t work anyway. AlphaViril works because it’s clinically proven and the focus isn’t “only” on increasing testosterone. It ALSO works by “decreasing” negative hormones such as female (estrogen, prolactin) and stress hormones (cortisol). This doubles and triples the benefits, without any negatives. I’ll get to the importance of this in a minute because it’s very valuable and thus, why you have gotten positive results. Testosterone Injections, Pills and Creams However, taking testosterone - whether it’s with injections, creams or pills, is far more powerful. You can keep taking more and more, higher and higher dosages and continue to see more and more effects -- both positive AND negative. In fact, this is why bodybuilders are so big, muscular and lean - lots of testosterone and other steroids derived from testosterone. However, with it also comes a lot more negative side-effects: Acne Hair loss Prostate growth Moodiness (happy, sad, anxiety, etc.) “Man Boobs” (Gynecomastia) Higher cholesterol and blood pressure Impotence Testicular shrinkage Etc., etc. In order to reduce these negatives, you ALSO need to take “inhibiting” drugs to reduce estrogen, prolactin, DHT, HCG, and other hormones. It can get very complicated. Plus, once you start, you can’t stop because taking testosterone will SHUT down your own production and thus, why your testicles shrink and sometimes just disappear into little raisins. Anyway, the point is that with more “growth” (muscle, strength, lower body fat), ALSO comes more side-effects. Especially if you’re over the age of 35. The older we get, the more sensitive we become to side-effects. How Natural Supplements Work However, if you get a natural supplement that actually works, such as AlphaViril, all it’s doing is MAXIMIZING and OPTIMIZING your own testosterone levels. Naturally… from within. It’ll take it to the highest NATURAL levels for your body. And the other benefit with AlphaViril is that it also has natural “inhibitors”, which will reduce “negative” hormones (female, stress, etc.) and this will further improve the results and optimize your testosterone. Now you won’t have the negative side-effects. It actually HELPS your prostate. It can INCREASE your testicular size. You won’t get acne, hair loss and so forth. However, you also will NOT gain 30-50 lbs of muscle like you do with artificial testosterone and other steroids. Does this make sense? I have nothing against taking testosterone shots, IF you have a good doctor who understands all the complicated hormones and knows how to balance them out. And AFTER you’ve tried the natural methods and thus, the injections are your last hope. Because like I said, once you start taking testosterone shots, you can’t stop! If you want to become a pro bodybuilder, you’ll need to take lots of testosterone and other steroids. Her weight became better distributed. She found that if she wasn’t eating enough food, she wasn’t healing or gaining muscle or strength. It was then that she discovered that she was an under eater. When she began to increase her intake, she gained muscle. She also became more resilient and was thriving. 08:32 The Glute Journey: Dr. Moore saw a lot of patients with lumbar-pelvic pain in women. With her research into glutes, she realized that every one of them had atrophied glutes. When a patient lays on the table on their stomach, their sacrum should be in the middle and their glutes should rise like two mounds. The glutes of elderly people do not rise, and Dr. Moore was seeing this in many of her younger patients. Dr. Moore’s own lower back pain became lessened with glute work. She started with glute bridges and body weight squats. She tells everyone to hire a good trainer. 10:31 Hormones and Weights: A study of men with a body weight squat with a free weight barbell, compared to a leg press machine showed that over the release of testosterone and human growth hormone was more than 80% higher with the barbell. You can tweak your hormones by how you exercise. The compound movements, like the full squat puts a neural load on the whole system. 12:39 The Mindset of Weight Training: Cardio makes you better at cardio and you only receive the benefits while you are doing it. When you lift weights, you get after burn. 14:25 Hormones and Cardio: Dr. Moore sees gnarly changes in labs with runners. They tend to burn out their adrenals and then the rest of their hormones. She sees a number of runners and cyclists with diabetes. It comes down to skinny fat. You look thin, but metabolically you show up as pre-diabetic skinny fat. Being a thin diabetic is more dangerous than being a heavy diabetic. About 20% of our population is normal weight and metabolically obese. A study showed that type 2 diabetes starts with insulin resistant skeletal muscle in the leg tissue. Eighty percent of insulin latches to muscle tissue. The fastest way to get out of insulin resistance is to build muscle. The first thing your body does with the buildup of muscle is burn up the fat in your liver. 17:17 More Benefits of Strength Training: Dr. Moore began to see her thyroid antibody levels go down. Her testosterone and estrogen levels come up. Her blood sugar regulated better. It takes about 90 days of strength training for metabolic changes on labs and weight redistribution to come about. If we improve our diets at the same time, it happens more quickly. 19:01 Cardio vs Strength Training: Studies have shown that you need to do chronic cardio for 50 minutes a day 7 days a week and you may see 2 to 3 pounds of weight loss a month. Even that benefit drops off after a short time as your body adjusts to the exertion. Weight training is superior for reducing the prevalence of heart disease and diabetes. 21:41 Protecting Our Energy: We need to guard our energy, our thyroid, our adrenals and our hormones. Every food we eat and activity we do should be in support of these. Across the board, giving ourselves micro doses of the hormetic effect makes us stronger and harder to kill. 25:04 Abs vs Glutes: Dr. Moore asked her male friends which they preferred on a woman and they didn’t care about a 6 pack and a flat rear end. She sees many of her female patients who achieve the 6 pack abs, end up with trashed their hormones. Our abs are where we keep our estrogen. Her patients who have had a tummy tuck come in a few months later with trashed hormones. Our fat is an endocrine organ. 26:29 Your Glutes: Your spine comes down into your sacrum. If you focus on your gluteal strength, much of your body is worked in the process. You get the most benefit from posterior chain exercises, compound body movements, like deadlifts and squats. 29:15 Having a Little Fat is Protective: Dr. Moore experienced and often sees when people become very lean, their hormones tank. We feel better emotionally when we have a healthy bulk from lifting weights. 32:15 Fat is Burned in Mitochondria in Skeletal Muscles: The more muscle you have, the more fat you burn.

I want to talk about some of the hormones that are responsible for tissue growth, responsible for muscle growth, but I also want to address some of the pressure that you might be feeling from the industry and sometimes even from your doctor when it comes down to human growth hormone or IGF. Human growth hormone and IGF are two very, very similar hormones within the body, and what I mean by that is they do very similar things, but, at the same time, they're also very, very different. What happens is your pituitary gland creates something called human growth hormone. This human growth hormone circulates throughout the course of the body and eventually hits the liver. When it hits the liver, it triggers the release of something known as IGF, insulin-like growth factor-1. The first misnomer that we have to address when we're looking at human growth hormone and we're looking at muscle growth, in general, is that human growth hormone doesn't directly allow muscles to grow. Human growth hormone indirectly activates IGF, which, therefore, allows muscles to grow through a couple of different pathways. You see, not only do we create insulin-like growth factor in the liver, but we also create it at different localized areas throughout the body, in the skeletal muscle and in the bone. That's exactly why, hormonally, your body starts to build muscle when you train a specific area. When we look at things like this, it would be easy to assume that if we utilized human growth hormone, we'd be able to produce more muscle, but let's understand how this works a little bit more. You see, human growth hormone is usually secreted through periods of growth, naturally, whenever your body biologically feels that it needs to grow. Adolescence is a perfect example. You're going to be secreting human growth hormone in a pulsatile fashion, and you're usually secreting it throughout the evening time or within the night time when you're asleep, but you're also going to secrete it when you're consuming copious amounts of protein at one sitting, simply because of the amino acid arginine, but you're also going to stimulate it through intense exercise. First off, we have to understand when the body is producing it, and that helps us understand when you would actually need it. Believe it or not, it's being discovered in a lot of studies, that unless you're deficient in human growth hormone, you're not going to get much benefit out of adding it into your body. We're going to address the human growth hormone side of things a little bit more when we look at some of the studies later in this video, but, first, let's talk about what IGF is and how this process works. You see, most of the anabolic responses that we're getting from human growth hormone, again, aren't a result of human growth hormone. They're a result of IGF. Let's talk about IGF. You see, IGF stands again for insulin-like growth factor, and what that means is it's very, very structurally similar to insulin. If you've watched my other videos, you know that insulin is the absorptive hormone. It's the hormone that turns your body into absorptive mode, meaning it's easier to store carbohydrates and it's easier to store fat and, ultimately, even easier to store a little bit of muscle, too. You Can’t Build Muscle Over 35 Without TRT!

For those who are not sure what that is, TRT is testosterone replacement therapy. Some would have you believe that seeing any kind of progress after a certain age is dependent on you resorting to synthetic means and shortcuts. That is simply not true. In this video, I’m going to tell you the real problem with making statements like this. Honestly, they have no impact on me personally, even when those statements expand into accusations that I achieve my look by using the same things. I can tell you that as a one hundred percent natural lifter my entire life, there is nothing more encouraging and rewarding than someone believing you use drugs to look the way you do. It is mind blowing actually, especially considering that fact that I used to train at home exclusively or pick odd hours to train at a gym so that I would not have to run into too many people since I already felt self conscious about my body and my strength. No, the real harm in these kind of statements, especially those made with such conviction, is that they do two incredibly bad things. First, they lower the bar on what is possible. Are you kidding me? No gains after the age of 35? Really? I bet you can think of 5 guys right away that look better after the age of 40 than they did in their 20’s and they have resorted to nothing but hard work, a commitment to training and most importantly, eating well. The second big thing is this “loser” and “quitter” mentality serves to discourage those on the fence from starting to dedicate themselves from improving their level of fitness. Think about it. If you are not committed to training and you are online looking for videos on how to get started and you run across that comment, you’re going to possibly be defeated before you even begin. You may think, it’s not in the cards for me either. He’s right. There is no hope for me since I’m not going to be able to take things like TRT so I can’t look good. What happens is this. The quitter, angry about his inability to commit (and refusing to look himself in the mirror and admit that his efforts have been anything but truly committed and stellar) wishes to drag others into his misery and disappointment. Nobody likes to fail alone. Always remember that. If they can find a way to discourage or disparage the achievements of others it somehow makes them feel better about themselves and their inability to achieve. I have to say, in almost every one of these instances, if I were to actually watch a workout performed by this type of individual it would not be anywhere near the level of effort needed to make change. If I were to analyze their nutrition for even a single day, it wouldn’t take me more than 4 seconds to identify exactly why they don’t have the level of body fat they are desiring. Unfortunately, you won’t get this information. The person who leaves these type of comments hides behind their own insecurities and never shares the real truth about why they have failed. But this is not you. You watch this channel because you want the best, most scientific, no nonsense advice on how to train like an athlete, eat like an athlete and look like an athlete 365 days a year without resorting to dangerous drugs or gimmicks. You want to be natural, train natural, and live healthy for many years to come. Well, for you I can tell you that you are in the right place. Growth hormone synthesis, production and regulation occurs in the hypothalamus-pituitary axis. These two glands, located in the brain, are responsible for a wide variety of hormone regulation that includes thyroid function, reproductive hormones such as estrogen and testosterone, adrenaline, dopamine, and others in addition to growth hormone. The regulatory process is somewhat complex and has an entire medical specialty dedicated to it known as endocrinology, so I won’t dive any deeper into that discussion but I would encourage you to look it up if you want to know more. This is an anabolic hormone; in other words it ‘promotes growth’. While this includes skeletal muscle, it’s certainly not limited to it. It’s worth noting that it is not androgenic, as opposed to testosterone, meaning it doesn’t promote male sex characteristics such as facial hair and deeper voice. The most prominent effect of this hormone is that it promotes bone growth and is the primary hormone responsible for growing to an adult size. In children, it’s largely responsible for determining height, and is modulated by several mechanisms. Secretion peaks during puberty, where the most bone growth occurs, and then declines with age (like most hormones). Along with bone growth, it promotes bone mineralization and calcium retention. Other functions include: Skeletal muscle proteins synthesis, specifically sarcomere hypertrophy Increase in lean body mass Fat breakdown (lipolysis) Protein synthesis elsewhere (not just muscle) Decrease cellular uptake of glucose Increased glucose synthesis (gluconeogenesis) Release of insulin-like growth factor 1 (will discuss separately) Growth of other organs Pancreas regulation Immune system stimulation Promotes thyroid activity

I think you have to start by breaking down the nutritional supplements into categories. In this video, I categorize multivitamins, specialty vitamins, protein powders, pre workouts, creatine, BCAA’s, creatine, omega-3’s and joint recovery formulas. Each group is discussed in relation to one of four age brackets regarding their appropriateness. All of the supplements discussed are ones that I take myself and would recommend to others. You will not see any testosterone boosters or pro hormones because I don’t believe in them or recommend them to my viewers. Even the pre workout supplements must undergo severe scrutiny based on the dangers that have been shown to riddle that product category for the past couple of years.
