New BC Services Card replaces CareCard
British Columbians can now replace their CareCard with the new BC Services Card. Most adults will need to re-enrol in the Medical Services Plan over the next five years. The easiest way for British Columbians to enrol is to do so when renewing their driver's licence and opt for the combined card that includes both a driver's licence and BC Services Card. People who do not drive can still enrol at the nearest location where driver's licences are issued. Workplace Health Innovation: VGH Emergency Department Healthy Workplace Initiative Vancouver General Hospital’s (VGH) emergency department is one of the largest and busiest in the province. Adam Olsen on Health and Wellness in British Columbia
In this video, I address the ever increasing health care budget in British Columbia. I discuss Medical Services Premiums and one way the BC Greens would fund health care as well as how medical services are delivered. [Transcript] Health care continues to be a top concern for people in Saanich North and the Islands and across British Columbia. It is about 40% of the provincial budget and climbing. After doubling MSP since taking power in 2001 the BC Liberals’ have promised to cut their special health care tax in half just weeks before the election. But, they have failed to tell us how will they fund the $845 million per year. Andrew Weaver and the BC Greens have suggested we scrap MSP all together fund it through income tax, as other provinces have done. This plan would be progressive, not unfairly penalizing seniors, fixed and low-income citizens, and saving the system millions of dollars by getting rid of our special MSP collection agency. How we fund health care is just one part of the reforms that are needed. How we deliver care is another. The system is focused on addressing illness. We need to shift from sick-care and disease management to a system centred around wellness and prevention. Investing in recreation, physical education, and nutrition, ensuring British Columbians have access to quality, less-processed food grown locally will relieve pressure on the system. We can deliver healthcare more efficiently, deploy practitioners more effectively, reduce stress on British Columbians and wait times in the system. It is important that British Columbians are seeing the right health care professional. I have a great deal of respect for my doctor, but I do not need to see him for every question I have. Projects on the Saanich Peninsula and Salt Spring Island that bring a team of practitioners under one roof who work together to provide a community of care has not been supported by our government and should be. The BC Liberal government has talked for more than a decade about changing our system, and they haven’t. Saanich North and the Islands has unique health care challenges, from many Island communities to an aging population. I am committed to working hard on your behalf to ensure there is the right health care option available when you need it. Until next time… HIÁȻE.

Privatization Can Improve Public Healthcare
Almost half of the taxes we pay to the BC government goes to the healthcare budget. Despite this, British Columbia rates much lower in quality of service than many countries in Europe. Is it because these ‘socialist’ countries all have elements of privatization to prod their government monopolies to be more cost-effective? Each year more than 6000 British Columbians go to other countries to get their healthcare needs met. Meanwhile some of our healthcare specialists don't get enough hours to keep their skills up. Sam Sullivan is proposing ‘Get one, give one’. People needing healthcare can stay in British Columbia and pay privately for a procedure as long as they also pay for someone in a waitlist to have a procedure done. They can stay at home to get private healthcare as long as it benefits our public system. The health of British Columbians should never be held hostage to an ideology. British Columbians should be able to pay for their healthcare as long as it helps reduce waitlists for us and contributes to a better public healthcare system. Healthcare management and administration and the debate and analysis in Canada is dealt with in this documentary video. Ethics and entrepreneurship in the governance and market of healthcare is debated and explained. Policy and quality as well as reform are discussed. B.c. set to have canada’s most expensive auto insurance- Auto Insurance
B.c. set to have canada’s most expensive auto insurance What is Auto Insurance ? Auto insurance protects you against financial loss if you have an accident. It is a contract between you and the insurance company. You agree to pay the premium and the insurance company agrees to pay your losses as defined in your policy. Auto insurance provides property, liability, and medical coverage: * Property coverage pays for damage to or theft of your car. * Liability coverage pays for your legal responsibility to others for bodily injury or property damage. * Medical coverage pays for the cost of treating injuries, rehabilitation, and sometimes lost wages and funeral expenses. An auto insurance policy is comprised of six different kinds of coverage. Most states require you to buy some, but not all, of these coverages. If you're financing a car, your lender may also have requirements. Most auto policies are for six months to a year. Your insurance company should notify you by mail when it's time to renew the policy and to pay your premium.

TMTV News Nelson BC Canada 2010 - A recent announcement by the BC government to lay off nursing staff doesn't sit right with local doctors at Trail's Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. Some B.C. doctors in the Kootenays are offering to pay out of their own pockets to keep nurses in operating rooms. Three operating-room nurse positions are being cut at the Kootenay-Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail, located in the southeastern area of the province, and hospital surgeons fear they'll lose up to a quarter of their operating time. Dr. Ian Grant, an anesthesiologist at the hospital that serves 80,000 residents of the Nelson, Trail and Castlegar area, called the situation "a medical crisis." "We are better off if we pay the nurses out of our own pocket than to lose this OR time," he told CBC News. The doctors have also written the health minister stating they have lost faith in the Interior Health Authority, which runs the region's hospitals. Dr. Cheryl Hume, the acting president of the hospital's medical advisory committee, called IHA's plan a "catastrophe." "We have become incapacitated as a regional hospital," she said. "I have grave concerns about Kootenay-Boundary Regional Hospital's capacity to function and no confidence in Interior Health." Questions raised in legislature NDP MLA Katrine Conroy brought up the doctors' radical plan during question period in the B.C. legislature in Victoria on Wednesday. "These doctors are taking it upon themselves by paying for the nurses themselves ... by actually taking the money out of their own pockets," Conroy told the legislature. "The doctors are saying, 'We can't lose these nurses. We'll pay for them if this is what we have to do.' This is what doctors have to do to provide service for patients in the Kootenays," Conroy said. Health Minister Kevin Falcon acknowledged the layoffs in the legislature on Wednesday, but said the situation at the Kootenay-Boundary hospital is under control. Tight funding by the provincial government has forced many B.C. hospitals to scale back many services in recent years, including surgeries, to meet annual budgets.
