11 Signs of Health Problems Hidden On Your Face

09:29
How to figure out if there’s something wrong about your health? It’s often enough to look in the mirror. External changes can signal the beginning of a serious illness inside. So pay particular attention to these 11 symptoms of internal problems that show up right on your face! When it comes to health issues, early detection is key. TIMESTAMPS: Discoloration of the skin around the mouth and nose 1:06 Extremely sensitive, glossy, or bulging eyes 1:49 Eyelashes that have become thicker and longer 2:35 A puffy face 3:12 Soft yellowish spots on the eyelids 3:49 Eyelid swelling and peeling 4:43 Itchy ears 5:22 Sudden facial asymmetry 6:07 Rashes and red blotches on the face 6:56 A receding chin 7:44 Out-of-control facial hair growth 8:11 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - If your skin has turned grayish-bluish in the area of the nasolabial triangle (that’s basically your mouth and nose), this may indicate that you’re not getting enough oxygen due to poor blood circulation. - If you’ve noticed that your eyes had become extremely sensitive, glossy, or bulging eyes, this may be one of the first signs of hyperthyroidism or thyrotoxicosis. - If you feel that your eyelashes have started to grow abnormally fast, this could be a real problem. Experiencing curlier, thicker, longer, or more pigmented eyelashes is a condition called trichomegaly. Some people are born with it, but it can also be caused by serious ailments like tuberculosis or immunodeficiency disorders. - A puffy face with swelling around the eyes, as well as dry skin and thin fragile hair, are some of the first signs of iodine deficiency. Iodine is responsible for proper thyroid function. Besides these symptoms on your face, if you notice that your weight is constantly fluctuating or you have increased sensitivity to the cold, it’s high time to see an endocrinologist. - People who have xanthelasma, or yellowish cholesterol-filled sacs on the skin, mostly around the eyes, are at a higher risk of developing heart disease. As harmless as they may seem, these spots indicate that the body isn’t metabolizing fats properly, which can result in a condition called atherosclerosis. - According to statistics, one out of 3 people who’s ever used cosmetic products on their eyes has experienced an allergic reaction to them at least once. Flakey or reddened eyelids may be your body’s way of telling you that your eye makeup or moisturizer contains some components that your skin doesn't agree with. - If you suffer from constant itchiness in your ears, this may be a sign of eczema, psoriasis, or some sort of allergy. The appearance of eczema, irritation, or similar skin problems means that you could be dangerously low on Vitamin D, also known as the sunshine vitamin. - A sudden change of facial symmetry, watery or dry eyes, and tingling in the facial muscles may mean a person has Bell's palsy. This condition causes muscle weakness or even paralysis on part of the face. It happens if the nerves that control your muscles become swollen, compressed, or inflamed. The reason for this problem is most often a viral infection. - Symptoms of digestive problems can actually show up on your skin. For example, red bumps that gather into itchy clusters may indicate celiac disease. If your cheekbones and the bridge of your nose suddenly become “decorated” with a butterfly-shaped rash, it can be a symptom of lupus. Other possible causes of rash are eczema, allergies, or some infection. - If a receding chin is accompanied by a small jaw and thick neck, you may be developing sleep apnea. People with this disorder actually stop breathing for ten or more seconds while they’re asleep. - Women should be alarmed if they suddenly notice an abundance of facial hair growing where there was once smooth skin. If dark course hair has started to grow on your chin, jawline, and upper lip, you may have polycystic ovary syndrome. This is a hormone imbalance that happens when male hormone levels are elevated in a woman. 8 Signs You're Suffering from Depression Without Knowing It

11:31
How to understand you're suffering from depression? How to get rid of depression which is a serious health condition that can’t be ignored? Depression is a serious matter that, unfortunately, doesn’t get talked about enough. Simply feeling a little sad can make us think that we're depressed, but that's not always the case…or is it? Let's find out what signs are hinting that you might actually be suffering from “the plague of the 21st century”. How to recognize depression? 0:54 The most common signs of depression are the following: you constantly feel down and tired. Your self-esteem has hit rock bottom. You have concentration and memory problems and troubles sleeping. Your weight changes, it can go either way: you all of a sudden gain several pounds or your weight drops drastically. Nothing, including your favorite food, TV show, video game, or even meeing up with your besties, brings you pleasure. You experience mood swings, and you can suddenly become extremely short-tempered with a lack of basic tolerance. Your health deteriorates. It's really common for depressed people to suddenly start experiencing aches and pains, most frequently in the joints or back. If at least 3 to 4 signs hit home for you, it most likely means that you have some form of depression. Basically, the more signs you’re showing, the more depressed you are. How to make it better? 7:34 The first thing you have to do is go to the doctor. According to psychotherapist Sean Grover, there are steps you can take in three areas of your life to make your mental state better. The first thing to take care of is your body. Start doing 30-minute workouts at least 3 times a week, get at least 7 hours of sleep a night, and add more of your favorite foods to your diet, especially sugary ones. The second and equally important part is your mind. Try to explore the world around you as if you never have before. Finally, your spirit should also get a dose of treatment too. The best thing you can do here is meditation. Through it, you can learn to understand and listen to yourself on a deeper level. Try to explore the world around you as if you never have before. Your spirit should also get a dose of treatment too with meditation. -“Seasonal depression” can be treated with natural substances. Experts also recommend to start seeing a doctor earlier and doing it regularly. Do you have any methods of your own on how to fight depression? Tell us in the comments below! Mother accused of injecting fecal matter in son's IV

01:46
Mother accused of putting fecal matter in son's IV Prosecutor: Grateful this isn't a murder case. A West Virginia mother injected feces into her son’s intravenous line as he recovered from surgery at a local hospital, according to Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters. Deters announced Tuesday a grand jury indicted Candida “Candy” Fluty, 35, of Kermit, West Virginia on two counts of felonious assault and two counts of endangering children. Cincinnati police arrested Fluty at Children’s Hospital Medical Center on Saturday, Jan. 17 after she “knowingly injected a substance into the victim’s peripheral IV line” in his hospital room the day before, court documents state. More at WCPO http://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/hamilton-county/cincinnati/prosecution-candy-fluty-west-virginia-mom-injected-feces-into-sick-sons-iv Fluty and her son traveled 190 miles to Children’s for the specialized care the hospital provides to many children with chronic and rare diseases. Hirschsprung disease is a congenital condition that affects the large intestines and makes it difficult for a person to pass stool, according to the Mayo Clinic. After surgery, she wrote another post saying her son "has a fever and feels yucky." Fluty and her child first went to Children's in 2011. The prosecutor said he believed the mother might have munchausen syndrome by proxy, a mental condition where one person makes another ill for attention or some sort of personal fulfillment. ◂ WCPO - 9 On Your Side brings you the latest trusted news and information for the greater Cincinnati Tri-State area, including Northern Kentucky and Indiana. Can deliverance be done on a person who has been diagnosed by psychiatrists with several mental disorders?" Bob: An individual who is mentally challenged may be in that condition for several reasons. Their disorder may be the direct result of demonic activity, or demons may have exploited a pre-existing psychological problem. Mental Illness as a DISABILITY I Bipolar Barbie

06:06
What is disability? The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) defines disability as: total or partial loss of the person’s bodily or mental functions total or partial loss of a part of the body the presence in the body of organisms causing disease or illness the malfunction, malformation or disfigurement of a part of the person’s body a disorder or malfunction that results in the person learning differently from a person without the disorder or malfunction a disorder, illness or disease that affects a person’s thought processes, perception of reality, emotions or judgment, or that results in disturbed behaviour; and includes disability that: presently exists previously existed but no longer exists may exist in the future is imputed to a person (meaning it is thought or implied that the person has disability but does not). There are many different kinds of disability and they can result from accidents, illness or genetic disorders. A disability may affect mobility, ability to learn things, or ability to communicate easily, and some people may have more than one. A disability may be visible or hidden, may be permanent or temporary and may have minimal or substantial impact on a person’s abilities. Who are people with disability? Disability is part of human diversity. One in five people in Australia, almost 4 million people, have a disability and this proportion is increasing with an ageing population. People with disability purchase consumer goods, have jobs, go on holidays, access information and contribute to society in the same way that people without disability do. The only difference is that often people with disability come up against significant barriers while trying to do the things that many of us take for granted. Types of disability The majority of people with disability have a physical disability (83.9%), while 11.3% have mental and behavioural disability and 4.8% have an intellectual or developmental disability. The breadth of impairments and medical conditions covered by the DDA are set out below: Physical - affects a person's mobility or dexterity Intellectual - affects a person's abilities to learn Mental Illness - affects a person's thinking processes Sensory - affects a person's ability to hear or see Neurological – affects the person’s brain and central nervous system, Learning disability Physical disfigurement or Immunological - the presence of organisms causing disease in the body To be deemed a disability, the impairment or condition must impact daily activities, communication and/or mobility, and has lasted or is likely to last 6 months or more. People with disability are part of every section of our community: men, women and children; employers and employees; students and teachers; indigenous and non-indigenous; customers; and citizens. No two people with the same disability experience their disability in the same way. The only thing that distinguishes a person with disability is they may require some form of adaptation/adjustment to enable them to do certain things in the same way as people without disability. Employment and people with disability According to the National Disability Strategy (2011): Work is essential to an individual’s economic security and is important to achieving social inclusion. Employment contributes to physical and mental health, personal wellbeing and a sense of identity. Income from employment increases financial independence and raises living standards. Unfortunately a lot more people with disability are unemployed than those without disability. However, of the people with disability who are employed, there is representation across many occupations. Professionals, managers and administrators are the largest occupational grouping and this represents 37% of people with disability in employment. Clerical sales and service workers are the second largest grouping representing approximately 30%, and the remaining occupational categories include tradespersons, production, and transport workers as well as labourers and related workers representing approximately 33% of people with disability in employment.

BIPOLAR DISORDER vs BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER - Mental Health with Kati Morton

06:17
Pre-order My New Book Today! ARE YOU OK? http://bit.ly/2s0mULy The differences between bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder can be hard to see sometimes. In today's video I talk about the differences, boiling it down to bipolar being more about episodic mood fluctuations and BPD being more consistent and pervasive. BPD, along with all other personality disorders, it must be deeply ingrained and affect our interpersonal relationships. It is also important to note that you can have BPD and bipolar disorder at the same time. The only caveat to that is that BPD must not be diagnosed while struggling with an untreated bipolar episode. The reason for that is so that we can tell where the symptoms are coming from and ensure a proper diagnosis. I know that there are still going to be questions about these diagnoses, but that's why we see professionals! You should not have your own DSM, that will only make things more unclear for you. It is important to see a mental health professional, be properly assessed and diagnosed. I hope you found this helpful! The books I briefly showed you are the following ones: - Reinventing Your Life: by Jeffrey Young, Ph.D. and Janet Klosko, Ph.D. - Schema Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder: by Hannie van Genderen & Arnoud Arntz The conversation took a long time to record. First, I recorded the red part. I was expressing myself while talking to a wall :) But the emotions are real, i'm not 'acting'. This is what I mean when i'm talking about 'looking at yourself objectively' (neutral) in my other videos. Later on you can watch yourself and analyze your own behavior. I hope everyone is doing well !! Love, Bas

Richie speaks exclusively to Susanne Small, who is currently detained at a mental health facility in Surrey. Susanne alleges that she was sectioned after she spoke to her doctor about a new mobile phone mast that had been erected near her home. Susanne told her doctor that she began to feel unwell around about the time that the mast was erected. She also presented her doctor with evidence that radiation from mobile phone masts is harmful and that 5G is going to be devastating to our health. Speaking to Richie from the hospital where she is being evaluated, Susanne says that she believes that her doctor recommended that she undergo a psychiatric evaluation. In March, 2018, the Foundation featured Dr. Sarah Kathryn Fineberg of Yale University. Description: People with Borderline Personality Disorder experience significant struggles in their relationships, and this can impact interactions in their personal and work lives. This webinar will provide an update on studies of social interaction where Dr. Fineberg will discuss methods for collecting data and handling this information as well as the applications to help improve the lives of those with BPD. First, I want to thank each and every member of our armed forces for giving of their times and possibly lives in order to keep us all safe and free. It’s because of their sacrifices that I am able to have this channel and walk around safely in my community. Many soldiers are subjected to traumatizing situations (whether that be in battle or due to an assault by another officer) and left with no help for their debilitating PTSD. The entire mental health system within our armed services is lacking and I would even argue that it’s completely broken. I consulted with 3 different members of the armed forces as well as with a former Navy Sexual Assault Victim Advocate and here is what I found out about their mental health care system: You are encouraged to seek mental health help and support, but if you are diagnosed with PTSD and any of your triggers are associated with the use of weapons you may not be able to ever carry a weapon or possibly do your job ever again. Meaning that by getting help, you could potentially lose your job and ability to serve your country. I say “may” and “potentially” because this all depends on what your job within the armed forces was, which branch you are part of, and where your PTSD comes from. Each branch has different rules and regulations. They do have resources available like the DOD self help line (that everyone is supposed to have on them at all times) and the SHARP representatives (or SAPR, the acronym is dependent on which part of the military you are in) those are the people who you report any rape, assault or harassment to. But as for basic mental health care, you are only psychologically assessed for duty when you are getting your initial background check and security clearance. Also your superior officer can request another be completed if they feel your mental health is deteriorating. http://www.med.navy.mil/sites/nmcphc/documents/lguide/command_evaluations.aspx) But if we consider Peter Mims, he was displaying all sorts of signs prior to his breakdown and he got no assistance. He was pushed to his breaking point by his job, and no one even cared to help him. This also goes for those who have been sexually assaulted. The advocate that I spoke with shared that during her time with the Navy 15-20 formal reports of sexual assault were reported each and every month from males and females. This doesn’t account for all of the harassment, and assault that goes unreported. And it is believed that accounts from males are seriously underreported. Article on Peter: https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-navy/2017/12/30/exclusive-how-peter-mims-spent-a-week-hiding-in-a-warships-engine-room/ TREATMENT OPTIONS: https://www.ptsd.va.gov/public/treatment/therapy-med/va-ptsd-treatment-programs.asp Sadly, the waits are long, and worry of getting a diagnosis that will end a career keep people from reporting harmful events, and getting the help that they need. While each VA is going to be different, there just aren’t enough mental health professionals to go around, so waits are long, treatments are short, and many struggle to say how they are really feeling for fear that they will lose their jobs. I don’t have a real answer for this issue, but I think it’s important that we talk about it, make people aware of it, and push for better treatment of our troops. They give their all so that we can be safe, the least we can do is care for them when they finally return home. We as a country give so much money each and every year to the military, I think we should be more specific about how that money is spent. We can do better. KRON4 spoke with the executive director of the hotel council of San Francisco. It represents the hotels and their guests. They are very worried what this could mean for the hotels in San Francisco and all the businesses touched by tourism dollars when the big conventions come in town. "When these things leave, it affects all of us--the taxi, the hotel, the restaurant," Hotel Council of San Francisco Executive Director Kevin Carroll said. "We need to be concerned." SF Travel does not want to name the five-day trade show that draws 15,000 attendees and pumps about $40 million into the local economy because they are hoping to lure them back in the future. The convention told SF travel "that they loved the city, but post-convention surveys revealed their members were afraid to walk the streets amid the open drug use, threatening behavior and mental illness that are common on the streets."

What is Borderline Personality Disorder?

10:33
Pre-order My New Book Today! ARE YOU OK? http://bit.ly/2s0mULy Try Online Counseling: http://tryonlinetherapy.com/katimorton If you are struggling, consider an online counseling session with a licensed professional at BetterHelp. They offer a cost friendly alternative to traditional therapy. I hope you all find this helpful and gives you hope for finding the support you need at a price you can afford. Thank you to BetterHelp for sponsoring this video! Borderline Personality Disorder, Self-Harm and Eating Disorders. In this video I talk about their relationship. Many of the symptoms of BPD lead us to acting out in SH or ED. Many of you will find that you can associate with some of these symptoms, but remember that you must be properly diagnosed by a medical professional and exhibit at least 5 of the symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). If you have been diagnosed with BPD the best thing for you to do is to purchase a Dialectical Behavior Therapy workbook (I recommend a good one on my website in the Amazon books section at the bottom of all my pages) and also I recommend that you find and join a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBP) group in your area. Help Techniques: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL14F50E070238DF4E Borderline personality disorder is a condition in which people have long-term patterns of unstable or turbulent emotions, such as feelings about themselves and others. These inner experiences often cause them to take impulsive actions and have chaotic relationships. Causes, incidence, and risk factors The causes of borderline personality disorder (BPD) are unknown. Genetic, family, and social factors are thought to play roles. Risk factors for BPD include: Abandonment in childhood or adolescence Disrupted family life Poor communication in the family Sexual abuse This personality disorder tends to occur more often in women and among hospitalized psychiatric patients. Symptoms People with BPD are often uncertain about their identity. As a result, their interests and values may change rapidly. People with BPD also tend to see things in terms of extremes, such as either all good or all bad. Their views of other people may change quickly. A person who is looked up to one day may be looked down on the next day. These suddenly shifting feelings often lead to intense and unstable relationships. Other symptoms of BPD include: Fear of being abandoned Feelings of emptiness and boredom Frequent displays of inappropriate anger Impulsiveness with money, substance abuse, sexual relationships, binge eating, or shoplifting Intolerance of being alone Repeated crises and acts of self-injury, such as wrist cutting or overdosing Signs and tests Like other personality disorders, BPD is diagnosed based on a psychological evaluation and the history and severity of the symptoms. Treatment Many types of individual talk therapy, such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), can successfully treat BPD. In addition, group therapy can help change self-destructive behaviors. In some cases, medications can help level mood swings and treat depression or other disorders that may occur with this condition. Expectations (prognosis) The outlook depends on how severe the condition is and whether the person is willing to accept help. With long-term talk therapy, the person will often gradually improve.

FACADE | A Short Film For Mental Health Awareness

02:43
FACADE is a short film produced to raise awareness for mental health awareness and the many faces we put up to get by everyday in life. Who are you when nobody’s around anymore? You see, above all else, one thing is certain - we only have one shot at this thing called life. But how many days have you already spent being someone you’re completely not, pretending that certain emotions and thoughts do not exist or told everyone around you that you’re doing just fine when deep down inside you’re crumbling? I’ve heard somewhere that people are more of what they hide than what they show. And yet, perhaps, that’s what we mostly see around us - the show. Why? Well, ‘Facade’ was made to explore this very theme. Not just for you but for myself too. The answer lies in each one of us. Every single person who watches this short will have a different reaction, a different takeaway, a different understanding. This is because our experiences with putting up facades are ultimately unique to one’s own life events. But if there is one overarching message that I’m hoping to plant in people’s hearts, it’s this - the trials and tribulations, the heartbreaks and the breakdowns; these times are all just as valid as your triumphs. You don’t have to pretend they don’t exist. Look them in the eye, embrace them and maybe, just maybe - you will overcome them. Lady Gaga gives emotional and empowering speech at ELLE's 25th annual Women in Hollywood #WIH

23:59
00:04:00 I tried on dress after dress today getting ready for this event, one tight corset after another, one heel after another, a diamond, a feather, thousands of beaded fabrics and the most beautiful silks in the world. To be honest, I felt sick to my stomach. And I asked myself: What does it really mean to be a woman in Hollywood? We are not just objects to entertain the world. We are not simply images to bring smiles or grimaces to people’s faces. We are not members of a giant beauty pageant meant to be pit against one another for the pleasure of the public. 00:05:24 We women in Hollywood, we are voices. We have deep thoughts and ideas and beliefs and values about the world and we have the power to speak and be heard and fight back when we are silenced. 00:05:50 So, after trying 10 or so dresses, with a sad feeling in my heart, that all that would matter was what I wore to this red carpet, I saw an oversized Marc Jacobs suit buried quietly in the corner. I put it on to a resounding view of eyes glaring at me in confusion. But the Rodarte was so beautiful! one said. But the Raf Simons for Calvin Klein was so stunning on you! said another. But what about the Brandon Maxwell? What about the Dior? Lots of questions. They were all dresses. This was an oversized men’s suit made for a woman. Not a gown. And then I began to cry. In this suit, I felt like me today. In this suit, I felt the truth of who I am well up in my gut. And then wondering what I wanted to say tonight become very clear to me. As a sexual assault survivor by someone in the entertainment industry, as a woman who is still not brave enough to say his name, as a woman who lives with chronic pain, as a woman who was conditioned at a very young age to listen to what men told me to do, I decided today I wanted to take the power back. Today I wear the pants. In an age where I can barely watch the news, I gasped at the unjust men, and some women quite frankly, that I see running this country. I had a revelation that I had to be empowered to be myself today more than ever. To resist the standards of Hollywood, whatever that means. To resist the standards of dressing to impress. To use what really matters: my voice. After I was assaulted when I was 19 I changed forever. Part of me shut down for many years. I didn’t tell anyone. I avoided it myself. And felt shame even still today standing in front of you. I feel shame for what happened to me. I still have days where I feel like it was my fault. After I shared what happened to me with very powerful men in this industry, nobody helped me. No one offered my guidance or a helping hand to lead me to a place where I felt justice, they didn’t even point me in the direction of the mental health assistance I was in dire need of. Those men hid because they were afraid of losing their power. And because they hid, I began to hide. I hid for a long time until I started to feel physical pain. Then I had to go to the doctor because I didn’t know what was wrong with me. And then I was diagnosed with PTSD and Fibromyalgia, which many people don't think is real, and I don't even know what the fuck to say about that. But I’ll tell you what it is. It’s a syndrome that is essentially a cyclone of stress induced pain. And I really wish my friend Lena Dunham was here tonight because I think she could probably articulate this much better than me. And I hope we can all agree that she’s a remarkable woman. Depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma—these are just a few examples of the forces that can lead to this tornado of pain. So what I would like to say in this room of powerful women and men today is let’s work together to beckon the world towards kindness. I’m fortunate enough now to have the resources to help me. But for many, the resources either don't exist or people don't have the ability to pay for or access them. I want to see mental health become a global priority. We’re not able to control all of the challenges and tragedies that life throws our way. But we can work together. This room can work together to heal each other. And we can also try to find the strength in the best way that we can to ask for help if we need it. ... It is my personal dream that there would be a mental health expert teacher or therapist in every school in this nation and hopefully one day around the world. Let’s lift our voices. I know we are, but let’s get louder. And not just as women. But as humans. And see that there are great men in the world. And ask them to hold our hands. For justice. That our voices be heard. Whatever our story may be. For an equal standing. We will fight for justice for women and men and those with other sexual identities. For me, this is what it means to be a woman in Hollywood. It means, I have a platform. I have a chance to make a change. I pray we listen and believe and pay closer attention to those around us to those in need....Be a helping hand. Be a force for change. 00:20:03

Scientists Finally Discovered the Truth About Easter Island

10:09
We all know that the easter island heads have bodies – that’s not a mystery at all. But how did the easter island population build hundreds of statues? Scientists have recently solved this mystery and discovered where these people disappeared to and why. For many decades, people's minds have been occupied with the mystery of Easter Island. A remote piece of volcanic soil, far away in the Pacific Ocean... But our planet hosts thousands of such lonely islands, what is so particular about this one? The mystery is concealed not in the island itself but giant stone statues covering it. Who created the world-famous huge stone heads? Did they serve any specific purpose? Where did their creators arrive from and where did they disappear? Well, it seems the answer is finally just around the corner! TIMESTAMPS What do we know about Easter Island? 1:05 Amazing facts about Easter Island 2:18 How have the statues been moved around the island? 5:25 How could create Easter Island monuments? 7:24 What happened to people on Easter Island? 8:09 SUMMARY - Where is Easter Island located? Rapa Nui (which is the name given to Easter Island by its first inhabitants) is the territory of Chile and is situated in the southern Pacific Ocean. And it is so, so far that you can easily consider it one of the most distant places on the world's map. It lies 1,200 miles away from Pitcairn, which is its closest neighbor. - What's the main secret of the statues? Most statues (834 out of 887) were carved from the material called tuff which is, in fact, compressed volcanic ash. Curiously, all the statues except one group face inland. It means their backs are turned to the ocean. Perhaps the reason for that was the belief that the statues were the protectors of the villagers that's why they overlooked the settlement. The only statues not fitting into this pattern can be found at Ahu Akivi, a sacred place for the people of Rapa Nui. - Theories about how the statues had been moved. One of the most popular ones among the lovers of mysteries was the belief that the statues had been created and moved by aliens. But even if you like this theory, we are sorry to debunk it. The stone the statues were built from originates from the island itself. The birthplace of most of the material was an extinct volcano situated in the north-east of Easter Island and not another planet. - A new study about the island. A new study has been conducted recently to specify the maximum number of the inhabitants in the heyday of the island's civilization. The results arrived, and they were quite unexpected. It turned out that as many as 17 and a half thousand people could comfortably live on the island. At least 19 percent of the land could be covered with the fields of sweet potatoes that used to be the main source of food for the population. What is more, the islanders consumed quite a lot of seafood and fish. - Why did people on Easter Island disappear? At first, it was believed that the reason for such a decrease of the population was an ecocide. The natives cut out large forests and palm trees making spare room for moving the statues around as well as agriculture. They thought the trees were going to grow back fast enough. It was a misleading concept. The deterioration of the environment resulted in hunger. And this, in turn, led to wars and cannibalism. Nowadays, however, such a theory has been proven wrong. First of all, Rapa Nui inhabitants seemed to be very talented agricultural engineers. They deliberately fertilized the fields with the volcanic rock. In fact, another research has shown that people had been living on the island for many centuries. And the population only started to decrease when Europeans began visiting. Do people with mental illness LOOK crazy?

11:46
A lot of people judge mental illness based on outward appearance. I think this is an unfair stereotype. Not all people with mental illness are lazy about their looks, and what you look like on the outside doesn't necessarily reflect what's going on inside your head! Find Me Online! Overpill. When Big Pharma exploits mental health

49:59
More films about America: https://rtd.rt.com/tags/usa/ The US has a highly developed pharmaceutical industry offering treatments for all kinds of mental disorders. Millions of Americans are being medicated for ailments as diverse as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and many others. Even young children are being put on psychiatric drugs. If parents decline such treatment, social services may intervene. Many patients, who’ve been taking these pills for years, insist that they do more harm than good. They have experienced disturbing side effects such as suicidal thoughts, addiction and even neurological damage. A lot of patients were put on their medication as children and by the time they were legally old enough to decide for themselves, they had already become addicted. They testify that breaking their dependency on the drugs is extremely difficult because, like any habit forming narcotic, they cause severe withdrawal symptoms. RTD meets some of the sufferers to hear their stories of battling to shake off prescribed medicines. Father of 5, Josh, was given anxiety medication, it caused Akathisia and Dystonia. Both are physical disorders causing involuntary and uncontrolled body movement and have left him disabled. Olivia’s son was prescribed psychiatric drugs to treat Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD). Olivia soon noticed side effects and refused to continue giving him the pills. He was taken by social services and hospitalised. Denis from Russia used to work for a pharmaceutical company in the US but after meeting his wife, who had suffered from the side effects of antidepressants for most of her life, he started questioning the necessity for such widespread psychiatric prescribing. Their claims are supported by lawyers and medical professionals. Psychiatrist Dr. Peter Breggin is a vocal critic of psychiatric medication. He is adamant that the drugs are toxic and that many problems people talk to physiatrists about can be treated without resorting to drugs. His book on how to stop taking psychiatric medicines has helped thousands of patients who have struggled with the challenge. RTD meets a few of them.
