8 Signs You're Suffering from Depression Without Knowing It
How to understand you're suffering from depression? How to get rid of depression which is a serious health condition that can’t be ignored? Depression is a serious matter that, unfortunately, doesn’t get talked about enough. Simply feeling a little sad can make us think that we're depressed, but that's not always the case…or is it? Let's find out what signs are hinting that you might actually be suffering from “the plague of the 21st century”. How to recognize depression? 0:54 The most common signs of depression are the following: you constantly feel down and tired. Your self-esteem has hit rock bottom. You have concentration and memory problems and troubles sleeping. Your weight changes, it can go either way: you all of a sudden gain several pounds or your weight drops drastically. Nothing, including your favorite food, TV show, video game, or even meeing up with your besties, brings you pleasure. You experience mood swings, and you can suddenly become extremely short-tempered with a lack of basic tolerance. Your health deteriorates. It's really common for depressed people to suddenly start experiencing aches and pains, most frequently in the joints or back. If at least 3 to 4 signs hit home for you, it most likely means that you have some form of depression. Basically, the more signs you’re showing, the more depressed you are. How to make it better? 7:34 The first thing you have to do is go to the doctor. According to psychotherapist Sean Grover, there are steps you can take in three areas of your life to make your mental state better. The first thing to take care of is your body. Start doing 30-minute workouts at least 3 times a week, get at least 7 hours of sleep a night, and add more of your favorite foods to your diet, especially sugary ones. The second and equally important part is your mind. Try to explore the world around you as if you never have before. Finally, your spirit should also get a dose of treatment too. The best thing you can do here is meditation. Through it, you can learn to understand and listen to yourself on a deeper level. Try to explore the world around you as if you never have before. Your spirit should also get a dose of treatment too with meditation. -“Seasonal depression” can be treated with natural substances. Experts also recommend to start seeing a doctor earlier and doing it regularly. Do you have any methods of your own on how to fight depression? Tell us in the comments below! 11 Signs of Health Problems Hidden On Your Face
How to figure out if there’s something wrong about your health? It’s often enough to look in the mirror. External changes can signal the beginning of a serious illness inside. So pay particular attention to these 11 symptoms of internal problems that show up right on your face! When it comes to health issues, early detection is key. #health #itching #hormones TIMESTAMPS: Discoloration of the skin around the mouth and nose 1:06 Extremely sensitive, glossy, or bulging eyes 1:49 Eyelashes that have become thicker and longer 2:35 A puffy face 3:12 Soft yellowish spots on the eyelids 3:49 Eyelid swelling and peeling 4:43 Itchy ears 5:22 Sudden facial asymmetry 6:07 Rashes and red blotches on the face 6:56 A receding chin 7:44 Out-of-control facial hair growth 8:11 #healthproblems #puffyface #itchiness Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - If your skin has turned grayish-bluish in the area of the nasolabial triangle (that’s basically your mouth and nose), this may indicate that you’re not getting enough oxygen due to poor blood circulation. - If you’ve noticed that your eyes had become extremely sensitive, glossy, or bulging eyes, this may be one of the first signs of hyperthyroidism or thyrotoxicosis. - If you feel that your eyelashes have started to grow abnormally fast, this could be a real problem. Experiencing curlier, thicker, longer, or more pigmented eyelashes is a condition called trichomegaly. Some people are born with it, but it can also be caused by serious ailments like tuberculosis or immunodeficiency disorders. - A puffy face with swelling around the eyes, as well as dry skin and thin fragile hair, are some of the first signs of iodine deficiency. Iodine is responsible for proper thyroid function. Besides these symptoms on your face, if you notice that your weight is constantly fluctuating or you have increased sensitivity to the cold, it’s high time to see an endocrinologist. - People who have xanthelasma, or yellowish cholesterol-filled sacs on the skin, mostly around the eyes, are at a higher risk of developing heart disease. As harmless as they may seem, these spots indicate that the body isn’t metabolizing fats properly, which can result in a condition called atherosclerosis. - According to statistics, one out of 3 people who’s ever used cosmetic products on their eyes has experienced an allergic reaction to them at least once. Flakey or reddened eyelids may be your body’s way of telling you that your eye makeup or moisturizer contains some components that your skin doesn't agree with. - If you suffer from constant itchiness in your ears, this may be a sign of eczema, psoriasis, or some sort of allergy. The appearance of eczema, irritation, or similar skin problems means that you could be dangerously low on Vitamin D, also known as the sunshine vitamin. - A sudden change of facial symmetry, watery or dry eyes, and tingling in the facial muscles may mean a person has Bell's palsy. This condition causes muscle weakness or even paralysis on part of the face. It happens if the nerves that control your muscles become swollen, compressed, or inflamed. The reason for this problem is most often a viral infection. - Symptoms of digestive problems can actually show up on your skin. For example, red bumps that gather into itchy clusters may indicate celiac disease. If your cheekbones and the bridge of your nose suddenly become “decorated” with a butterfly-shaped rash, it can be a symptom of lupus. Other possible causes of rash are eczema, allergies, or some infection. - If a receding chin is accompanied by a small jaw and thick neck, you may be developing sleep apnea. People with this disorder actually stop breathing for ten or more seconds while they’re asleep. - Women should be alarmed if they suddenly notice an abundance of facial hair growing where there was once smooth skin. If dark course hair has started to grow on your chin, jawline, and upper lip, you may have polycystic ovary syndrome. This is a hormone imbalance that happens when male hormone levels are elevated in a woman. How to deal with people that have a borderline personality disorder. And more inside information for people who struggle with BPD. From the abandoned child to the healthy adult and everything in between. The books I briefly showed you are the following ones: - Reinventing Your Life: by Jeffrey Young, Ph.D. and Janet Klosko, Ph.D. - Schema Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder: by Hannie van Genderen & Arnoud Arntz The conversation took a long time to record. First, I recorded the red part. I was expressing myself while talking to a wall :) But the emotions are real, i'm not 'acting'. This is what I mean when i'm talking about 'looking at yourself objectively' (neutral) in my other videos. Later on you can watch yourself and analyze your own behavior. Overpill. When Big Pharma exploits mental health
More films about America: https://rtd.rt.com/tags/usa/ The US has a highly developed pharmaceutical industry offering treatments for all kinds of mental disorders. Millions of Americans are being medicated for ailments as diverse as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and many others. Even young children are being put on psychiatric drugs. If parents decline such treatment, social services may intervene. Many patients, who’ve been taking these pills for years, insist that they do more harm than good. They have experienced disturbing side effects such as suicidal thoughts, addiction and even neurological damage. A lot of patients were put on their medication as children and by the time they were legally old enough to decide for themselves, they had already become addicted. They testify that breaking their dependency on the drugs is extremely difficult because, like any habit forming narcotic, they cause severe withdrawal symptoms. RTD meets some of the sufferers to hear their stories of battling to shake off prescribed medicines. Father of 5, Josh, was given anxiety medication, it caused Akathisia and Dystonia. Both are physical disorders causing involuntary and uncontrolled body movement and have left him disabled. Olivia’s son was prescribed psychiatric drugs to treat Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD). Olivia soon noticed side effects and refused to continue giving him the pills. He was taken by social services and hospitalised. Denis from Russia used to work for a pharmaceutical company in the US but after meeting his wife, who had suffered from the side effects of antidepressants for most of her life, he started questioning the necessity for such widespread psychiatric prescribing. Their claims are supported by lawyers and medical professionals. Psychiatrist Dr. Peter Breggin is a vocal critic of psychiatric medication. He is adamant that the drugs are toxic and that many problems people talk to physiatrists about can be treated without resorting to drugs. His book on how to stop taking psychiatric medicines has helped thousands of patients who have struggled with the challenge. RTD meets a few of them. Pre-order My New Book Today! ARE YOU OK? http://bit.ly/2s0mULy The differences between bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder can be hard to see sometimes. In today's video I talk about the differences, boiling it down to bipolar being more about episodic mood fluctuations and BPD being more consistent and pervasive. BPD, along with all other personality disorders, it must be deeply ingrained and affect our interpersonal relationships. It is also important to note that you can have BPD and bipolar disorder at the same time. The only caveat to that is that BPD must not be diagnosed while struggling with an untreated bipolar episode. The reason for that is so that we can tell where the symptoms are coming from and ensure a proper diagnosis. I know that there are still going to be questions about these diagnoses, but that's why we see professionals! You should not have your own DSM, that will only make things more unclear for you. It is important to see a mental health professional, be properly assessed and diagnosed. I hope you found this helpful! Mother accused of injecting fecal matter in son's IV
Mother accused of putting fecal matter in son's IV Prosecutor: Grateful this isn't a murder case. A West Virginia mother injected feces into her son’s intravenous line as he recovered from surgery at a local hospital, according to Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters. Deters announced Tuesday a grand jury indicted Candida “Candy” Fluty, 35, of Kermit, West Virginia on two counts of felonious assault and two counts of endangering children. Cincinnati police arrested Fluty at Children’s Hospital Medical Center on Saturday, Jan. 17 after she “knowingly injected a substance into the victim’s peripheral IV line” in his hospital room the day before, court documents state. More at WCPO http://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/hamilton-county/cincinnati/prosecution-candy-fluty-west-virginia-mom-injected-feces-into-sick-sons-iv Fluty and her son traveled 190 miles to Children’s for the specialized care the hospital provides to many children with chronic and rare diseases. Hirschsprung disease is a congenital condition that affects the large intestines and makes it difficult for a person to pass stool, according to the Mayo Clinic. After surgery, she wrote another post saying her son "has a fever and feels yucky." Fluty and her child first went to Children's in 2011. The prosecutor said he believed the mother might have munchausen syndrome by proxy, a mental condition where one person makes another ill for attention or some sort of personal fulfillment. ◂ WCPO - 9 On Your Side brings you the latest trusted news and information for the greater Cincinnati Tri-State area, including Northern Kentucky and Indiana. 9 Signs You Have Toxic Mold In Your Home
Is mold inside your home bad for your health? Mold growing on fruit and bread is easy to see, but mold growing in your home isn’t obvious at all. If you’re feeling unwell and showing a variety of symptoms you can’t explain, it’s worth learning whether mold could be causing your bad health. It wouldn’t be a surprise since a hidden mold problem is common in many homes. If you’re unsure whether there’s mold in your home, think about whether you usually feel better at work or when you’re out doing chores. That can be a tell-tale sign that your home is secretly an unsafe environment. Mold can wreck your health, so be wary, folks. TIMESTAMPS: There’s a strange smell in your house 0:43 You can’t stop coughing 1:17 Your muscles are hurting 1:56 There are stains on your walls 2:40 Your seasonal allergies are extra intense 3:17 You have asthma 3:49 You’ve noticed weird rashes on your skin 4:30 You are forgetful 5:08 Your eyes seem to be perpetually irritated 5:52 What can you do? 6:35 #mold #yourhealth #toxins Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - As mold grows, it releases microbial volatile organic compounds, which are known to smell particularly rank. Sniff around your home. If you catch a musty whiff, follow the smelly trail. - A report conducted in 2004 by the Institute of Medicine found that mold can be directly responsible for problems with the upper respiratory tract, and it can be the reason for chronic coughing. - Exposure to mycotoxins from black mold can also affect your muscles and joints. Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) is a condition that can be caused by mold. - Mold can have many different appearances. It can be spots on a wall, discoloration, dark rings, and stains. The spots aren’t always black; they can also be green, orange, brown, and white. - Mold tends to cause symptoms similar to seasonal allergies. As people attribute their sickness to allergies, mold can continue to spread in their home. - A study conducted in 2011 and published in the Annals of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology journal found that when a one-year-old child is exposed to mold in their home, there is an increased chance of them having asthma by the time they are 7 years old. - Mold doesn’t just affect your sinuses. People with mold allergies can experience skin that is red and itchy all the time. Some of the strongest allergic reactions can include rashes and hives. - Maybe a simple thing like remembering where you left your keys or giving all your concentration to one task seems impossible lately. To a certain extent, mold can make you mentally fatigued, disoriented, and forgetful. - If your eyes are lovely but nowadays always look bloodshot, mold could be causing their irritation. When pores are floating around in your home, they find a direct entry into your body through your eyes. - You can take a simple urine test to reveal whether there are mycotoxins in your system. If there are, a doctor can guide you through the recovery process. - Schedule a test with a mold testing company. They’ll be able to inspect your entire home and reach places you can’t get to. KRON4 spoke with the executive director of the hotel council of San Francisco. It represents the hotels and their guests. They are very worried what this could mean for the hotels in San Francisco and all the businesses touched by tourism dollars when the big conventions come in town. "When these things leave, it affects all of us--the taxi, the hotel, the restaurant," Hotel Council of San Francisco Executive Director Kevin Carroll said. "We need to be concerned." SF Travel does not want to name the five-day trade show that draws 15,000 attendees and pumps about $40 million into the local economy because they are hoping to lure them back in the future. The convention told SF travel "that they loved the city, but post-convention surveys revealed their members were afraid to walk the streets amid the open drug use, threatening behavior and mental illness that are common on the streets."

FACADE | A Short Film For Mental Health Awareness
FACADE is a short film produced to raise awareness for mental health awareness and the many faces we put up to get by everyday in life. Who are you when nobody’s around anymore? You see, above all else, one thing is certain - we only have one shot at this thing called life. But how many days have you already spent being someone you’re completely not, pretending that certain emotions and thoughts do not exist or told everyone around you that you’re doing just fine when deep down inside you’re crumbling? I’ve heard somewhere that people are more of what they hide than what they show. And yet, perhaps, that’s what we mostly see around us - the show. Why? Well, ‘Facade’ was made to explore this very theme. Not just for you but for myself too. The answer lies in each one of us. Every single person who watches this short will have a different reaction, a different takeaway, a different understanding. This is because our experiences with putting up facades are ultimately unique to one’s own life events. But if there is one overarching message that I’m hoping to plant in people’s hearts, it’s this - the trials and tribulations, the heartbreaks and the breakdowns; these times are all just as valid as your triumphs. You don’t have to pretend they don’t exist. Look them in the eye, embrace them and maybe, just maybe - you will overcome them. A Color Test That Can Tell Your Mental Age
A lot of the times your brain “feels” way younger or older than you are. That's called mental age. Do you wanna know yours? Lucky for you, Bright Side put together a simple test that will help you figure out if you're a carefree child, an old and wise sage or just exactly as mentally “old” as you are. Just answer our questions, write down your points for every answer, add them all up and get your results! But enough talking, let's begin! If you got 7-12 points, mentally you're just under 20 years old. It doesn't matter what your passport says – you’re a carefree teenager at heart! If you're way older than 20, congratulations – you've managed to carry this constant feeling of enthusiasm and love for life through all these years. Keep shining! If your result is 13–20 points, you are 20–29 years old. You are active, creative, and full of life, but you can already call yourself an adult. Childhood and teenage years are over, but you took the best from them and left all the unnecessary stuff behind. It doesn't mean that you're not having fun though – your life is just as exciting as it was. If all of your points added up to 21–28 points, your mental age is 30–39 years. You’re still active and curious about new things and ideas, but you are already responsible and thoughtful. If you think about it, that's the perfect balance between the children's joy for life and adults' independence. The golden mean at its best! If your total number of points is 29–35, you are 40–49 years old. You're mature and experienced, and you know exactly how to live your life. You have no time for nonsense – you're determined and hardworking. You know what you want and how to get it. Continue to be a true inspiration for everyone around! 36–40 points mean that your mental age is over 50 years. And that's not a bad thing at all! On the contrary, you are wise and calm. You get what life is all about, and you highly appreciate comfort. You're the person everyone goes for advice, plus you can always be trusted. These are some rare qualities today, so your friends must protect you at all costs. So what’s your mental age and how close is it to your real age?
