Legitimate-sounding charity trying to scam a donation from me
In this call, we hear a pleasant woman describe children dying of cancer and they could really use our donation. This is a pretty big charity calling from a legitimate caller-id and announcing their organization and even their parent organization. Nothing illegal about it. And as a non-profit, they do not have to honor the do-not-call list. Nice, eh? However, if you do a quick search of the charity, you'll find lots of red flags. According to the Better Business Bureau, they collected over a million dollars and only donated $15,000 or so, presumably to fund their call center operation. But you're on the phone with them and don't have time to research this... Anyway, don't hang up on these charities you big meanie! Don't say no to them! Let my robot say yes to them for you! If all of you transfer these guys to a JollyRogerTelephone bot, it would completely break their business model. Please join me in ending this madness! Enjoy this latest call! And thanks everyone for listening!

Stop Veteran Charity Scams (open captions) | Federal Trade Commission
Many charities do a great job supporting our nation’s veterans, but a few take advantage of people’s generosity. This video tells donors how to research charities to avoid donating to a sham charity. ---------------------- Transcript: Speakers - Maureen Elias, Jai Caron Lenoir, Lois Greisman [MUSIC PLAYING] It can be kind of scary or overwhelming when you hear about charities that are scamming people to promise services to veterans who need it. And not deliver on that promise is reprehensible. This is something that's going to affect the life of you and your family, and someone wants to play games for their own personal gain. Scammers have little moral compass, and they're preying upon people's good hearts. But don't let that keep you from giving. Don't let that scare you away from providing for others. What makes a difference in your donation is that it gets to a legitimate charity. Ask questions about how your money is going to be used. "Who exactly are you? Where are you located? And how much of my money is going to go directly to that program?" So that you know that you're giving money to someone that's really going to put your money into practice rather than their pocket. Charity scams can come in a bunch of different sizes. If anyone calls and asks you to make a charitable donation by wire transfer, by prepaid card, stop. That's an immediate red flag. Go to FTC.gov/charity. There you'll find information on how to research to spot the good charities and how to identify the scammers. We all have an opportunity to contribute to the greater community at large and make this world a better place. Take your time, do the research, make sure your donation counts. [MUSIC PLAYING] ---------------------- The Federal Trade Commission deals with issues that touch the economic life of every American. It is the only federal agency with both consumer protection and competition jurisdiction in broad sectors of the economy. The FTC pursues vigorous and effective law enforcement; advances consumers' interests by sharing its expertise with federal and state legislatures and U.S. and international government agencies; develops policy and research tools through hearings, workshops, and conferences; and creates practical and plain-language educational programs for consumers and businesses in a global marketplace with constantly changing technologies. Many Major Charities Just Another Rip Off
Video theme song:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnrGwJt2Tm4 A Useful Idiot discusses the pros and cons of giving to charities after looking at some research on some of the most well known charities out there and investigating some of the charities I personally contributed to...only to find out that many are just old fashioned scams where bureaucracy, generous salaries and benefits, and plain old corruption means that very little of the donations end up at their stated destinations. This is especially infuriating when it involves so many charities that purport to help veterans only to pocket up to 99% of donations just to run their organisations. The biggest surprize is that some of the most respected and well known charities are the worst offenders. So Americans who open their hearts and pocketbooks unfortunately need to look carefully at the details before donating their hard earned money. Charity Bullying (Chuggers) in our High Streets
Chugging - charity mugging - is bad and getting worse. UK Charities have long collected money on our streets but in recent years, they've become far more insistent. Chuggers are now the norm. It's gone from tin-shaking to physical funneling, collector approaches, large emotive posters, manipulative body language and personal questions - all techniques designed to manipulate us into giving after we've already made the decision not to. The Funraising Regulator (https://www.fundraisingregulator.org.uk) is responsible to administration of on-the-ground practice in the UK. They say the guidance offered by the law is not very helpful but that they judge each case on its merits, and may direct specific charities to change their practice. Astonishingly, at the time of writing (October 2018) their website contact page gives the WRONG phone number and the WRONG email address - only media enquiries details are there, and their media company say they receive hundreds of enquiries to them a day. The CORRECT email address is enquiries@fundraisingregulator.org.uk and their phone number is 0300 999 3407. My previous emails were ignored - and now I know why. So I'll be trying again and I'll update you on this channel - so subscribed to stay in touch.n What do you think? Please complete the poll which you can access from the video cards. Also feel free to put your comments below.

Susan G. Komen "For the Cure" is wasting your donations
Susan G. Komen "for the cure" is a marketing empire more concerned with perpetuating their revenue-whoring existence than actually finding a cure for cancer. They exist only to ensure their future existence - the money you donate is used to advertise and market so that more people will donate after you. In a world with infinite resources, you could argue something [11%] is better than nothing. But charitable giving is historically a fixed percentage of GDP and income - meaning there's a pie that is only so big, and Komen wants to take larger and larger slices, meaning less and less charitable funds go to research as they grow. Please, if you want to see a cure in our lifetime, give your donations to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at www.bcrfcure.org http://www.tanktronic.com/komen/

Scam Artist #1: Breast Cancer Assistance
This is an actual, real-time phone call from a crooked robo-call, one of the more sophisticated automated ones. What sounds like a human female is instead a series of recorded phrases, selected by the computer program to simulate a conversation. It's all calculated to separate you from your wallet, and it seems to be enormously successful. Very little, if any, of the funds received by this organization will actually go to deserving cancer patients. Most will go to support the scammer's lavish life-style and expensive tastes. If you are ever in doubt about a cold call, ask to see a copy of their IRS Form 990, required of all charities. Betcha they will hang up right away. Google 855 552-8455 or 414 433-7965 to see how many complaints there have been. Note that the feds have been ignoring this kind of criminal activity pretty well so far. Your tax dollars at work!

Why You Shouldn't Support Susan G Komen And Breast Cancer Charities
Discover why donating money to breast cancer charities won't prevent the cure for cancer. And learn how to help women with breast cancer. Download our free Breast Cancer Healing Protocol to learn the real causes of breast cancer. http://bit.ly/2En1guK What is Breast Cancer Awareness Month? Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign occurring every October. It began as a partnership between the American Cancer Society and AstraZeneca. Gullible consumers buy pink products without knowing where the money goes. Companies that sell pink products know they get better public perception and profits. Some makers of pink products only donate the proceeds for a limited time. These products may have a higher price tag and sometimes remain on sale after the trade period. Some product manufacturers also put a cap on the total amount of money that they will donate. If they reach that limit by the time you buy your pink product, your purchase isn’t contributing a thing. Sudan G Komen And The Corrupt Pink Movement The largest breast cancer organization in the United States is Susan G. Komen. Susan Goodman Komen died of breast cancer at the age of 33 in 1980. Her younger sister, Nancy Goodman Brinker created the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. It is a multi-million-dollar nonprofit organization. In 2016 they had assets totaling over $347 million. Only 21% of the money that Susan G Komen received in 2010 went to cancer research. Over half their money go toward promoting awareness and breast cancer screening. Organizations such as Susan G Komen want to inspire women to take mammograms. Mammograms send a strong dose of ionizing cancer-causing radiation through your tissues. Not only are mammograms unsafe, but they are not saving women's lives. They have frequent false positives and expose women to toxic radiation. Dense breasts are more difficult to image and assess for tumor diagnosis. False positives can lead to expensive repeat screenings. Even if mammograms are successful at finding cancers they won’t prevent deaths.Their end goal is to make women use deadly cancer treatments. Many of the cancer non-profits are front groups for Big Pharma. Screenings are a way for pharmaceutical companies to create new customers. The ultimate aim is to make huge profits out of each patient. Susan Komen's biggest sponsors are the corporations that profit from toxic cancer treatments. The organization also owns stock in several pharmaceutical companies, including AstraZeneca. Some of the products they promoted even caused more cancer. In 2010, Susan G. Komen partnered with KFC who sold pink buckets of chicken “for the cure.” In 2011, Komen created a perfume called Promise Me. It contained hazardous toxic chemicals. In 2013, Yoplait held a campaign called "Save Lids to Save Lives." They donated 10% per lid with a unique code which consumers could redeem. Komen also gives its management huge salaries. Nancy Goodman Brinker the Komen CEO got $684,000 in 2012. Breast Cancer Is An Industry Cancer is a huge industry. Big Pharma earns enormous profits by selling expensive drugs. They prey upon exploiting women for profit and power. The more cancer patients there are, the greater their profits. Preventing cancer would devastate the industry's profits. That's why they focus on screening and detecting cancer but not stopping it! How To Prevent Breast Cancer There are some good breast cancer movements. One of them is Breast Cancer Action. Breast Cancer Action, is a nonprofit organization that is against the pink movement. Don't be fooled by the pink movement. Don't fall for cancer marketing schemes. Don't support pink products. Never opt-in for annual mammograms. Think before you pink! The best way you can stop breast cancer is to educate yourself about the real causes of it. If you give money to cancer charities you will support an industry that kills innocent people. Teach others how to prevent cancer, and you will do more good for the world. About us: We teach the natural and holistic way to treat cancer without using toxic treatment methods. Eric Trump Stealing From Cancer Kids?
Eric Trump set of a charity and his dad was mad he wasn’t profiting from it. John Iadarola, Ana Kasparian, and Amberia Allen, the hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. https://tytnetwork.com/join/ “LIKE AUTUMN LEAVES, sponsored Cadillacs, Ferraris and Maseratis descend on the Trump National Golf Club in Westchester County, New York, in September for the Eric Trump Foundation golf invitational. Year after year, the formula is consistent: 18 holes of perfectly trimmed fairways with a dose of Trumpian tackiness, including Hooters waitresses and cigar spreads, followed by a clubhouse dinner, dates encouraged. The crowd leans toward real estate insiders, family friends and C-list celebrities, such as former baseball slugger Darryl Strawberry and reality housewife (and bankruptcy-fraud felon) Teresa Giudice. The real star of the day is Eric Trump, the president's second son and now the co-head of the Trump Organization, who has hosted this event for ten years on behalf of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. He's done a ton of good: To date, he's directed more than $11 million there, the vast majority of it via this annual golf event. He has also helped raise another $5 million through events with other organizations. The best part about all this, according to Eric Trump, is the charity's efficiency: Because he can get his family's golf course for free and have most of the other costs donated, virtually all the money contributed will go toward helping kids with cancer. "We get to use our assets 100% free of charge," Trump tells Forbes.” Read more here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/danalexander/2017/06/06/how-donald-trump-shifted-kids-cancer-charity-money-into-his-business/#54f567f06b4a Hosts: John Iadarola, Ana Kasparian, Amberia Allen Cast: John Iadarola, Ana Kasparian, Amberia Allen *** The Largest Online News Show in the World. FTC: Family raised $187M for cancer, spent it on themselves
By: CBS 21 Web Staff and The Associated Press WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Federal investigators say that a Tennessee man and his family used much of the $187 million they raised for cancer patients to buy cars, luxury cruises, pay for college tuition and employ family members with six-figure salaries. Officials said it was one of the largest charity fraud cases ever, involving all 50 states. According to the Federal Trade Commission, James T. Reynolds Sr.; his ex-wife Rose Perkins; and son Jim Reynolds II, raised money through the Cancer Fund of America in Knoxville, Tennessee; Cancer Support Services, Inc.' The Breast Cancer Society in Mesa, Arizona; and the Children's Cancer Fund of America in Powell, Tennessee. In an online statement, The Breast Cancer Society denied any wrongdoing, but said it was suspending operations because the investigation was a distraction. The other groups didn't respond to requests for comment. Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane said combined settlement payments of approximately $914,000 will be made. The three will be prohibited from managing charitable assets in the future. "Everyone has been affected by cancer in one way or another," Kane said. "That is what makes this so unfathomable. To take not only from hard-working Americans but sick women and children as well, that is something I will not stand for." Kane said a portion of any money collected through settlements or after trial will be granted to charities that have a proven track record of providing assistance to cancer patients. A portion will also be used to cover costs incurred by the investigating states. Kane reminded Commonwealth residents to research a charity before making a contribution. "There are several resources a donor can use to make an informed decision, including reviewing financial information about charitable organizations that is filed with Department of State, Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations," Kane said. Other consumer protection groups, such as the Better Business Bureau, Charity Watch, and Charity Navigator also provide information on charitable organizations.

The National Cancer Institute: Tracking the timeline of cancer
Since the beginning of history human beings have suffered from cancer. Some of the earliest evidence has been found in fossilized bone tumors and in mummies in ancient Egypt. Scientists have learned more about cancer in the last two decades than ever before and are making advances in the treatment of the disease. Yet, cancer is still the second leading cause of death in the US- approximately 1.6 million Americans will be diagnosed and 570,000 will die this year. At The National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Bethesda, Maryland, researchers are working each day to understand more about cancer. Dr. Kathy Cronin, tracks our progress as a nation as a data analyst with NCI's Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Program. In this video, she talks about the program's efforts to track cancer and analyze the data that has been gathered since it's launch in 1973.

National Cancer Institute and American Cancer Society by Samuel S. Epstein, M.D. - 60 sec
Despite decades of false assurances, we are losing the winnable war against cancer. The hand-in-glove generals of the federal NCI and the nonprofit ACS have betrayed us. These institutions have spent tens of billions of taxpayer and charity dollars, promoting treatment, while ignoring strategies for preventing cancer, other than quitting smoking. As a result, cancer rates have escalated to epidemic proportions, now striking nearly one in two men and more than one in three women. Paradoxically and criminally, the more we spend on fighting cancer, the more cancer we get. And there is much more. The NCI and ACS are rife with conflicts of interest with the cancer drug industry. This book also details how the NCI and ACS are sitting on mountains of information on avoidable causes of cancer, while failing to act on this and making it available to Congress and the public. This book explains how we can win the war against cancer with strategies including right-to-know laws, ensuring public dissemination of critical information on avoidable causes of cancer, and Congressional reform to ensure that the NCI protects the public rather than special interests.
