La Curcuma Longa es una planta de la misma familia que el jengibre, originaria del suroeste de la India. La Cúrcuma es famosa por el color amarillo intenso que aporta a los platos, pero sobre todo es muy valiosa por sus numerosas propiedades y beneficios para la salud. A continuación vamos a ver sus numerosas propiedades y cómo consumirla. Las propiedades beneficiosas de la Cúrcuma se deben en gran parte a la presencia de curcuminoides, que son polifenoles liposolubles. Entre ellos destaca la Curcumina, que posee muchas propiedades fisiológicas. Existen numerosos estudios científicos que respaldan las propiedades y efectos medicinales de la Cúrcuma, que ya eran conocidas desde la antigüedad y se empleaban en la Medicina Tradicional China e Hindú. Propiedades y Beneficios de la Cúrcuma Protector Hepático La curcumina aumenta el contenido de glutatión, un tripéptido importantísimo en el cuerpo humano, conocido como el "antioxidante maestro". El glutatión contribuye a las funciones del hígado y favorece la producción de bilis, ayudando al tratamiento de la ictericia.
