Is it okay to take Pepcid AC for heartburn while pregnant?

01:28
You mentioned that you're 30 weeks along and totally plagued by heartburn. This can be a problem that gets worse as pregnancy goes on. As your baby grows, the uterus grows and compresses more on your tummy. There are things you can try from home that don't require medication and if these things help, then that's great. But if it goes above and beyond that and the basics that I'm going to talk about in a minute aren't helping, then it would be best to talk to your doctor and they can give you advice about what medications are safe to take during pregnancy for heartburn. You mentioned that you started taking Pepcid AC. They can tell you if that's safe or not. As for natural remedies for heartburn, there's a couple of different things you can try. First of all, avoid foods that are going to increase the acid in your stomach. These are fatty foods, fried foods, spicy foods, caffeine, and carbonated drinks. Avoid eating big, large meals and laying down after meals. Try eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day and a lot of people think "if I drink with my meal, then that will force the acid down" but actually, it's better to drink in between meals. At night, if you're having an issue with it, elevate your head. Prop a whole bunch of pillows up behind you and that might help as well. Again, if these basics aren't helping, then it would be best to talk to your doctor. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and if you have any other questions for me, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at facebook.com/intermountainmoms and recommend us to your friends and family, too.

http://x.vu/heartburnstop how to stop heartburn fast What Is Acid Reflux? Acid reflux disease, also known as gastro-esophageal reflux disease, or GERD, occurs due to the coexistence of two medical conditions. The first acid reflux disease contributing condition is a retrograde flow of stomach contents into the esophagus. However, the reflux itself does not necessarily lead to gastro-esophageal reflux disease symptoms or histologic changes, and can occur among healthy individuals as well. In this case, the process is referred to as "physiologic gastroesophageal reflux". The second acid reflux disease predisposing condition is a lower esophageal sphincter (LES) malfunction. The LES is a 3-cm to 4-cm ring of muscle, which is two to three times thicker than the proximal esophagus and acts as a valve between the esophagus and the stomach. In the case of acid reflux disease, the LES does not close perfectly and stomach contents splashes up into the esophagus. When pathologic symptoms follow this process, the whole condition is called acid reflux disease. Gastro-esophageal reflux disease is usually experienced as a persistent (at least twice a week) heartburn. Heartburn is the burning sensation in the chest or throat, caused by refluxed stomach contents touching the lining of the esophagus. Since healthy individuals may also experience light reflux - occasional heartburn is common as well, and doesn't necessarily serve as an evidence of GERD. Some GERD sufferers may also experience pain in the chest, cough, morning hoarseness, voice changes, difficulty swallowing (especially lumpy foods), chronic earache, burning chest pains, nausea or sinusitis. Some patients report a sensation that reminds food stuck, choking or tightness in the throat. This happens due to continuous stomach contents acid flow that comes into contact with the esophagus and causes inflammation of the esophagus resulting in scars from tissue damage. Untreated acid reflux disease can lead to serious health complications. Those include stricture formation, bleeding, ulcers and esophageal spasms. When the stomach acid reaches the upper esophagus and trachea, the process can result in a variety of severe conditions, such as asthma, sinusitis and pneumonia. Finally, some people may develop Barrett's esophagus, a condition that manifest in an abnormal shape and color of cells in the esophageal lining. This condition is a precursor to esophageal cancer, especially in adults over 60 years old. The treatment of gastro-esophageal reflux disease takes three forms: surgery, medical therapy and holistic therapy, including dietary and lifestyle changes and the intake of specific herbal supplements. An undergoing surgery should be considered very carefully, since it can compound some underlying conditions, such as stricture and motility disorders. Medical treatment of GERD includes PPIs and H2 blockers. While acid reflux can be treated by taking prescription medications or acid blockers such as the above, bear in mind that the results may be temporary and that some conventional medications can cause serious side effects. From a holistic point of view, acid reflux disease is considered a warning sign of a major internal imbalance that needs to be properly addressed. Therefore, alternative remedies, such as homeopathic remedies, herbal remedies, lifestyle changes as part of a complete holistic regimen are strongly recommended for acid reflux sufferers. This article is based on the book, "Heartburn No More" by Jeff Martin. Jeff is an author, researcher, nutritionist and health consultant who dedicated his life to creating the ultimate acid reflux solution guaranteed to permanently reverse the root cause of heartburn and acid reflux and naturally and dramatically improve the overall quality of your life, without the use prescription medication and without any surgical procedures. Treat and Stop Acid Reflux with Natural Medicine - Dr. Patti Kim, ND

04:57
Low stomach acid causes most Acid Reflux symptoms, according to Dr. Patti Kim, ND (Naturopathic Doctor). In this video interview, Dr. Kim discusses: 1) The symptoms of Acid Reflux, including burning, heat or pain sensation in chest and/or throat area, regurgitation, belching due to the sphincter being weakened, feeling full sooner than normal, chronic sore throats or laryngitis. 2) The conventional treatment for Acid Reflux, including calcium carbonate antacids such as Tums, Maalox, Mylanta; or proton pump inhibitors such as Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid and Protonix. 3) That neutralizing stomach acid or stopping stomach acid production with artificial drugs can be harmful to the body because of the numerous side effects associated with the drugs, and that this type of conventional symptom treatment does not treat the root cause. 4) That stress is a primary cause of lowering stomach acid. 5) That stomach acids leak into the esophagus because of a weak sphincter (often due to stress). 6) Factors that influence acid reflux: poor nutrition, foods that cause inflammation, eating spicy foods and alcohol. 7) Natural Medicine treatment of acid reflux includes: stomach pH may be tested; goal is to raise stomach acid (or lower if too high) through dietary changes, exercise, herbs, nutritional supplements, digestive supplements and Homeopathic remedies. 8) Especially important is removal of processed foods and eating whole, organic foods. 9) Dr. Kim has a great success rate of stopping acid reflux: most of her patients are symptom free within a week. Acid Reflux (DERD) caused by drugs: Zantac and Prilosec. Explained

02:35
Acid Reflux (DERD) caused by drugs: Zantac and Prilosec. Explained. Often patients tell me that the acid reflux medication does not work for them. GERD/Acid Reflux does not get better or even can get worth on Zantac or Prilosec. Why? Zantac belongs to category of H2 blockers and blocks production of HCL in the stomach. its older drug, been on the market for about 20 years and we believe has fewer side effects. Prilosec is in the group of PPIs (proton pump inhibitors )together with Nexium, Prevacid. They block production on H+ by inhibiting H+ pump mechanism, part of HCL (Hydrochloric Acid) production. PPIs considered to be stronger medications. Zantac, Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid will make food to stay in the stomach longer, as a result, some food and HCL may go up into the esophagus and cause GERD/heartburn /Acid Reflux. What Helps Acid Reflux Go Away

00:58
What Helps Acid Reflux Go Away http://acidreflux.product-truths.com - Acid reflux and gastroesophageal reflux illness (GERD) are closely related, however the terms are not necessarily interchangeable. Acid reflux may be the backward flow of stomach acid into the esophagus - the tube that connects the throat and stomach. Acid reflux is far more especially generally known as gastroesophageal reflux. During an episode of acid reflux, you could taste regurgitated meals or sour liquid at the back of one's mouth or really feel a burning sensation in your chest (heartburn). Occasionally acid reflux progresses to GERD, a extra severe form of reflux. Essentially the most typical symptom of GERD is frequent heartburn. Other signs and symptoms may possibly include things like regurgitation of food or sour liquid, difficulty swallowing, coughing, wheezing and chest pain - specifically when lying down at evening. Should you have occasional acid reflux, life-style alterations can help. Shed excess weight, eat smaller meals, and steer clear of foods that seem to trigger heartburn - like fried or fatty foods, chocolate and peppermint. Avoiding alcohol and nicotine could enable, also. If important, occasional acid reflux may be treated with over-the-counter medication, such as: - Antacids, such as Tums - H-2-receptor blockers, for example cimetidine (Tagamet HB) or famotidine (Pepcid AC) - Proton pump inhibitors, like omeprazole (Prilosec OTC) In the event you suspect which you have GERD, your indicators and symptoms worsen, or youexpertise nausea, vomiting or difficulty swallowing, speak to your doctor. Prescription drugs may well enable. Inside a couple of cases, GERD might be treated with surgery or other procedures.

Don't know if I made it clear but the cat dosage is 2.5 mg (1/4 tablet) unless your vet says otherwise. As someone commented, I have the WRONG dosage in this video. YOU WANT 10mg TABLETS, not 20. Here is the reference to lowering parathyroid hormone which if true is a huge side benefit. https://www.felinecrf.org/appetite_loss_nausea_vomiting.htm#famotidine I chewed one of the tablets tonight to see how awful it tasted. It was alkaline but not bad at all. When Precious ends up chewing it he is foaming at the mouth and it looks pretty uncomfortable.

Medications that can Cause Depression (2018 Update)

11:09
Needed medications can be life-savers, and should never be discouraged. But, very often, a medication with significant side effects can be substituted with a medication which gives the same therapeutic effect, without the unwanted side effects. A single pill can have hundreds of listed "possible" side effects, these can be very hard to keep up with. But, when you take 2 or 3 pills daily, the possible side effects don't just double or triple, they multiply. One medication may not cause depression alone, but when combined with another pill, it might lead to significant depression. People who are taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) may also be prescribed a prostaglandin analogue (misoprostol) in order to help prevent peptic ulcers. Acid reducing medication Ranitidine and famotidine, which are both H2 antagonists, provide relief of peptic ulcers, heartburn, indigestion. They decrease the amount of acid in the stomach helping with healing of ulcers.[29] In the absence of H. pylori, 4 weeks of a PPIs are also often used. H. pylori When H. pylori infection is present, the most effective treatments are combinations of 2 antibiotics (e.g. clarithromycin, amoxicillin, tetracycline, metronidazole) and a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), sometimes together with a bismuth compound. In complicated, treatment-resistant cases, 3 antibiotics (e.g. amoxicillin + clarithromycin + metronidazole) may be used together with a PPI and sometimes with bismuth compound. An effective first-line therapy for uncomplicated cases would be amoxicillin + metronidazole + pantoprazole (a PPI).
