Meet Trump VP Pick Mike Pence, Crusader Against Safe Legal Abortion and LGBTQ Rights
http://democracynow.org - We look at the record of Donald Trump and his running mate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, on LGBT rights and restricting women’s access to reproductive healthcare with Dawn Laguens, executive vice president and chief experience officer of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. In 2015, Pence signed into law the highly controversial anti-LGBT Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which gave businesses license to discriminate against LGBT people. The law caused a nationwide backlash. Dozens of companies and professional sports teams and leagues, including the Indianapolis-headquartered NCAA, threatened to boycott Indiana. Apple CEO Tim Cook slammed the law, likening it to the Jim Crow laws of the American South. Ultimately, Pence was forced to enact a revision specifying the law does not authorize anti-LGBT discrimination. As governor, Pence also oversaw a cut in Planned Parenthood funding in the state and signed legislation, since blocked, that would have restricted abortion access statewide. In 2011, he threatened to shut down the entire government if Congress didn’t defund Planned Parenthood. Sex-Selection in America: Part 3 - Undercover in Arizona
Learn more at http://ProtectOurGirls.com Media: media@liveaction.org AZ Abortion Clinics Break Law to Abort Baby Girls in New Undercover Video PHOENIX, June 6 — Live Action released undercover footage today showing two National Abortion Federation (NAF) clinics in Arizona agreeing to break state law and perform an illegal sex-selective abortion. Today's video is the third release in Live Action's "Gendercide" project, documenting Planned Parenthood and NAF's support for sex-selective abortion in America. The footage shows two NAF members, Camelback Family Planning in Phoenix and the Tucson Women's Center in Tucson, promising to ignore the law and perform a sex-selective abortion and coaching a woman to lie on official paperwork to conceal the illegal abortion. When the woman purportedly seeking to abort her girl and try again for a boy explains this at the Camelback clinic, a counselor named Barb advises, "Don't tell us that, because we don't want to know." Referring to the clinic's abortion doctor, Gabrielle Goodrick, Barb says, "You can tell her, she's gonna tell you the same thing, just: Don't let it be down! She's really good about that. You'll like that about her." At the Tucson clinic, the surgical assistant Francisco tells the woman, "We could lose our license," but agrees to cover-up her sex-selective abortion. "I'll just forget about it," he says, "But just be sure not to mention it" to the abortion doctor--"Don't even mention it to him." NAF is the professional trade group for abortion doctors and clinics in the U.S. and Canada. Many NAF board members are current or former Planned Parenthood officials, and Planned Parenthood representatives frequently play a prominent role at NAF annual meetings. Sex-selective abortion is a felony in Arizona. No one may knowingly perform a sex-selective abortion in Arizona, or solicit or accept money to do so. Live Action has sent the full footage from the Arizona clinics to the state Attorney General, Tom Horne, and to local law enforcement. Live Action president Lila Rose urges Arizona authorities to enforce the state's sex-selection ban: "Sex-selective abortion is a global search-and-destroy mission against little girls that is spreading at an alarming rate. While we wait for Congress to pass the Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act to ban sex-selective abortion in the U.S., state authorities should vigorously enforce Arizona's law. The clinics supporting sex-selective abortion should be investigated, prosecuted, defunded, and delicensed immediately."

Campaign finance in the United States
Campaign finance in the United States is the financing of electoral campaigns at the federal, state, and local levels. At the federal level, campaign finance law is enacted by Congress and enforced by the Federal Election Commission, an independent federal agency. Although most campaign spending is privately financed, public financing is available for qualifying candidates for President of the United States during both the primaries and the general election. Eligibility requirements must be fulfilled to qualify for a government subsidy, and those that do accept government funding are usually subject to spending limits on money. Races for non-federal offices are governed by state and local law. Over half the states allow some level of corporate and union contributions. Some states have limits on contributions from individuals that are lower than the national limits, while four states have no limits at all. This article deals primarily with campaigns for federal office. This video is targeted to blind users. Attribution: Article text available under CC-BY-SA Creative Commons image source in video

Oakland Athletics
The Oakland Athletics are a Major League Baseball team based in Oakland, California. The Athletics are a member of the Western Division of Major League Baseball's American League. From 1968 to the present, the Athletics have played in the Oakland Coliseum since moving to Oakland. Overall, the A's have won nine World Series championships, the third-best total in Major League Baseball (trailing only the New York Yankees and the St. Louis Cardinals). The "Athletics" name originates from the late 19th century "athletic clubs", specifically the Philadelphia Athletics baseball club. They are popularly nicknamed "the A's", in reference to the Gothic script "A", a trademark of the team and the old Athletics of Philadelphia. They are also known as "the White Elephants" or simply "the Elephants", in reference to then New York Giants' manager John McGraw's calling the team a "white elephant". This was embraced by the team, who then made a white elephant the team's mascot, and often incorporated it into the logo or sleeve patches. During the team's 1970s heyday, management often referred to the team as The Swingin' A's, referencing both their prodigious power and to connect the team with the growing disco culture.
