How to Build a Cyclone Separator From a Stock Dust Collector

10:47
I took a 2hp harbor freight dust collector and added a piece of sheet metal bent into a funnel and added a barrel to the bottom of it to create a diy cyclone dust separator. The unit functions very well. How to make a dust collector with a wet/dry vac

07:07
In my new shop, I needed dust collection, but didn't have room for a huge collector. Instead, I used a wet/dry vac and a cyclone, along with some blast gates. A list of parts that I used can be found at http://www.iliketomakestuff.com/dust-collection/ I'd like to give special thanks to Nick McMahon, for his support of ILTMS via https://subbable.com/iliketomakestuff You're awesome Nick! Finishing up the dust collector build

06:28
A lot of details left to sort out. http://woodgears.ca/dust_collector/finish_up.html Plans available here: http://woodgears.ca/dust_collector/plans Everybody keeps warning me that the light bulb would melt the bucket. It's an LED bulb. It doesn't get hot. A regular bulb wouldn't last very long because of the vibrations (and the bucket has plenty of cooling on the inside, so it wouldn't melt regardless)

Building a Cyclone Seperator Dust Collector code named the Turbulator 4000 Part I

15:22
In this video I show all the initial steps and pieces I use to construct a cyclone dust separator for my wood shop. I am using standard building materials and starting from scratch. I am using a design from Bill Petz, and some things I had laying around the shop. This build has turned out to be way more than I ever expect it would be. I have three videos that show the construction of this project. This is not a dust deputy, or a real clear view cyclone, but I am hoping it works well and stays on budget. Here is some additional info in a second video http://youtu.be/Ship5867jgI Completion video http://youtu.be/FWauZHjjhaA

I used the power head from an old shop vac and built a new housing out of a steel barrel and a piece of acrylic pipe. The key part of the new housing is the cyclone separator that is located underneath the original cartrige filter. The cyclone filters out all the bigger particles and leaves only the very fine ones for the cartrige filter.

DIY Cyclone 2 stage Dust Separator

09:15
We took the New RIDGID 9 Gallon NXT shop vac and turned it into an all in one Dust Separator unit. No need of a cyclone dust separator funnel onto, instead, I designed the unit to use the existing radius wall of the vac to create the spiraling vortex, pushing the heavy dust down and the light particles up to be caught and trapped in the shop vac bag, all while leaving the vacuum filter clean. DIY Dust Collector System with Homemade Blast Gates and Automatic Start/Stop Function

11:35
Continuing off with my DIY dust collector cyclone system I added all the duct work to hook up dust collection to my tools. I show how I added dust ports to the router table, drill press, table saw and band saw. The drill press dust collection is via a loc-line system sold by lee valley. I made homemade blast gates from some hardboard and 5/8 melamine particle board. I used a non contact magnet door alarm system to control a low voltage dc relay to control the motor operation when the blast gates are opened and closed. I made free plans for the blast gates on my website (link below) Buy a T-shirt to support the channel: https://teespring.com/stores/diy-builds Visit my website for free plans and see viewer builds: http://diybuilds.ca Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/diybuilds Follow me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DIYBuilds Support DIY Builds on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/DIYBuilds #DIYBuilds #Woodworking #DIY

Simple, Cheap Blast Gates *Free Plans!*

11:14
Sometimes motivation behind building something as opposed to buying has to do with availability. Sometimes it has to do with cost. Sometimes it has to do with quality. In this case it has to do with all three. I set out to build blast gates with scrap material I had laying around. Mainly I did this because I didn't want to have to order blast gates and deal with the shipping, and the cheap ones seemed a little....flimsy? There are high quality ones out there, but why pay for them when I can make my own? I figured I could come up with a design that I could crank out a bunch of parts for and then assemble as needed, so that is just what I did. Enjoy! Plans now available here for FREE! How To Make a Cyclone Dust Collector for Your Shop Vacuum

RiDGID VT1720 Universal Hose Kit http://amzn.to/2hx0agZ Shop-Vac 9650610 3.0-Peak HP Wet/Dry Vacuum, 6-Gallon http://amzn.to/2xIJMDQ Ridgid R4513 15 Amp 10 in. Heavy-Duty Portable Table Saw http://amzn.to/2yFr663 ============================== In this video I will show you how to make your own cyclone dust collector for your shop vacuum. This will be installed in between your vacuum and tool. All debris & dust will be sucked into the dust collector and not go into the vacuum cleaner. It will keep your shop vacuum cleaner filter element clean and not clog it. ======================= NOTE ABOUT THE PIPE DIAMETER: For this project, the middle PVC pipe installed in the dust collector lid is 1.25". The PVC pipe installed on the side into the bucket is 1.5". These sizes are what I found to work for my setup between tools/shop vac/hose. Your setup may have different pipe sizes. There are many different pipe diameter sizes found between different brands and tools. For example, many vacuum attachments such as brushes, hand sanders have a diameter of 1.25". Table saw may have pipe diameter 1 7/8". Some shop vac has 2.5" pipe. You will need to figure out what are all the pipe sizes you have, and then get the proper PVC pipe to get everything integrated. If you can't find the right PVC pipe, then you can also use some expansion rubber hose and clamps to hold pieces together. ======================= Dial2Fast website: http://www.dial2fast.com Support Us On Patreon: http://www.patreon.com/dial2fast

How to make a DIY Cyclone Dust Collector / Complete tutorial

08:47
DIY Cyclone Dust Collector cart, designed for woodworkers with small workshops. FAST and EASY clean out and a LED system so you can easily see when the bucket is full. 😏 What i like about cyclone collector system is that you never lose suction, and 97% of dust/debris goes in the bucket so you don't have to clean the shopvac filter every time you empty the bucket. I designed mine with 2 clamps so it's fast and easy to empty the bucket. Also, i added a led light system so you can easily see when the bucket is full. I designed my cart vertically, it take less space in my small woodshop. I tried to build this dust collector with materials i had on hand at the lowest possible cost. I had to buy the plastic cyclone dust collector, and with my low budget i opted for the china version. You can choose the original Oneida here : https://www.oneida-air.com/ or the china knockoff on Ebay/Ali ( I do not want to start the debate between the original version and the knockoff version, you choose the one you prefer. 😉 ). Materials used : - Plywood 5/8 ( i used leftovers ) Complete wood parts dimensions here : https://www.pinterest.com/pin/451134087664859740/ You can download sketch up model in my instructable : https://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Cyclone-Dust-Collector - Cyclone dust collector oneida-air.com ( or china, you choose ;) ) - 5 Gallon bucket ( 18.92L ) - Piano hinge ( Hardware store ) - 2 small toggle clamp ( Ebay or Ali ) - 4 casters ( i choosed 2 fixed and 2 swivels ) - Spray paint ( i had black and chrome paint leftovers ) Central Vacuum System ( Hardware Store for theses parts ) : - 2" vacuum pipe - 2" 90° Sweep Elbow (2x) - 2" 90° Short Elbow (1x) - 2" pipe clamp (3x) - 2" Coupling - Joint Cement - 2" rubber coupling with clamps Thanks for watching, please like and share if you like this project. Dust separator - Thien-Baffle - Plans - DIY

01:47
Hi everybody. Here is my last project. A dust separator using the Thien-baffle principle. I included plans with measurements so you can make your own. The measurements were pretty much based on intuition so I'm sure they can be improved. I was still surprised on how well it performed. I even tested it with gypsum dust and it worked like a charm. None of the dust went into the shop-vac. -Performance. So far, it has worked flawlessly with: Wood dust, drywall dust, ash, water. -Building: If you build your own, here are some important tips based on mine's performance. - The plastic I used for the main ring was brittle. When using the dust separator, I sometime plugged the intake and the negative suction was making the plastic bend a bit too much, althow it did'nt beak. - The silicon I put in the groove for the bucket was quite effective for keeping the junction with bucket air-tight. - For the intake tube, I used one for water instead of shop-vac tubes to save cost. The problem is that the rings in the plastic makes a certain vibration with the air resulting in a verrry loud hi pitch noise. I have to use ear muffs while I use it with this tube. Build this Sawdust Collection System

30:30
This is the TKW's last word on dust collection. What you're about to see here will amaze you perhaps even stupefy you or maybe even leave you dumbfounded. Indeed, My Spiffy ShopVac (tm) is something you lonely dust collection souls have been searching for. You don't need any fancy tools, extensive piping or sections of flexible hoses sticking out from everywhere like Medusa. In fact, for about $6.78 you can make my DC system and live happily ever after. If you run into a situation where the barrel collapses from the vacuum pressure then the wall is too thin. You can combat this occurrence by adding wood strips to the outside of the barrel, screwing them from inside the barrel into the strips on the outside. Please, no applause, just send money. Nothing ever sits idle within the confines of the Twisted Knot Woodshop. If you don't care to leave a comment then send an email to woodwork@twistedknotwoodshop.com

Space Saving Shop-Vac Dust Collector Cart

04:52
A Jay Bates, Jeremy Schmidt, and Jackman love child?! Organization in the new shop.... DC in D.C.! ►Please share and subscribe? http://bit.ly/JackmanWorksSubscribe Details! ▼ I recently moved into a new shop and lost some square footage over my old one, so floor space is at a premium. At the old shop, my dust separator was quite content sitting next to my shop-vac with the hose reel mounted to the wall, but they require a little pampering to get them to fit the new space. This dust collection cart allows me to stack everything vertically, only taking up a small amount of floor space, while still having the same functionality as before. It has also allowed me to avoid the hassle of installing a dedicated dust collection system to a lot of my tools. The hose reel is my favorite part, with the 20' hose on it, it reaches almost everywhere in my shop and stores away easily and neatly so avoid fighting with the clutter of loose hoses. The cart is a combination of designs from Jay Bates, Jeremy Schmidt, and myself. \\\\\ CREDITS & PROJECT SPECIFIC LINK \\\\\ ■ Full build article: https://www.jackmanworks.com/space-saving-shop-vac-dust-collector-cart/ ■ Get the plans: https://www.jackmanworks.com/shop/shop-vac-cart-plan/ ■ Jay Bates inspiration: https://youtu.be/pi0xqEUmuu4 ■ Jeremy Schmidt inspiration: https://youtu.be/SXRPWzC-KcY Rockler tools used on this build ■ Hose Reel: http://bit.ly/rocklerpc2rrxCvP ■ Shop Vacuum Hoses: http://bit.ly/rockler2xVMPa6 ■ Dust Separator: http://bit.ly/rockler2fSt4vc ■ 2-1/2'' Expandable Shop Vacuum Hose: http://bit.ly/rockler2xhnDO4 ■ Glue Application Master Set: http://bit.ly/rockler2yq3tRZ ■ Countersink and Driver Bit Set: http://bit.ly/rockler2nAOUlu ■ Universal Small Port Hose Kit: http://bit.ly/rockler2nSOfOV ■ Shop Vacuum Accessory Kit: http://bit.ly/rockler2gd0z8O \\\\\ GENERAL PANDERING LINKS \\\\\ ■ http://www.jackmanworks.com ■ http://www.youtube.com/jackmanworks ■ http://www.instagram.com/jackman_works/ ■ http://www.twitter.com/jackmanworks ■ http://www.facebook.com/jackmanworks Plans, stickers, t-shirts, etc: http://www.jackmanworks.com/shop \\\\\ MUSIC \\\\\ ■ MaJLo - Get Down https://soundcloud.com/majlo-music/get-down

This week I am upgrading my cyclone single stage dust collector to a 2 stage collector by using a cyclone type canister add-on that will help collect most of the dust before it even gets to the original dust collector and hopefully, helping to reduce the amount of dust but more so making it easier and safer to get the collected dust out of the woodworking workshop by using the plastic barrels. ****************** Tool Review Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgn5pIkLhZC7bI8qwgJFRuGNr_dRHV0qh Woodworking Tool Tips Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgn5pIkLhZC6UNY7oGCqqalh2WTG0Ywge ****************** ** Read Full Article on Cyclone Dust Collection system - http://goo.gl/IhJTqO **** Subscribe here - https://www.youtube.com/user/knecht105 ** Like me at Facebook: https://goo.gl/DLgvoa ** Visit the website: http://www.woodworkweb.com ** Follow on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/colinknecht ** Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/woodworkweb ** Connect with me on Google+: http://goo.gl/7fotJq

How to Build an Overarm Dust Collector for your Table Saw

13:44
Learn how to build an overarm dust collector to retrofit your table saw for improved dust collection. A lot of the dust generated by the table saw comes off the back of the blade and this shop made overarm collector helps capture that dust. This video is a follow up to my original "4 Table Saw Dust Collection Upgrades" video by popular request. The table saw can be one of the biggest sources of dust in a wood shop if it isn't equipped with proper dust collection. Having dust collection below the table isn't enough since a lot of dust will come upwards off the back of the blade which goes into the air and lands all over everything in your shop. A lot of newer table saws have above the blade dust collection but older saws aren't equipped with it. This video shows how I built my overarm dust collector for my Delta contractors table saw and the materials that I used. The overarm dust collector is height adjustable to suit the thickness of the material that you are cutting. It can also be used with a cross cut sled which was one of my main design criteria. A lot of overarm dust collectors or over the blade dust collectors won't work with a cross cut sled which means you can't capture the dust from the top of the blade when you're using a sled. This overarm collector doesn't function as a guard since the front of the blade is still exposed but that is necessary to use the collector with the cross cut sled. To see the original table saw dust collection video showing 4 dust collection upgrades click the link below. https://youtu.be/Yyqj6jn-EY0 The Bosch router dust collection attachment that I used is model #RA1175. 2 Stage Harbor Freight Dust Collector

I reconfigured the entire system to be a bit more compact and sturdy while I was at it. I also added a cartridge filter to increase the system airflow and so far it seems to have helped a ton! First homemade dust collector: Things learned

Going over my first homemade dust collector. It works, but nothing about it is optimal. It was tempting to try to fix the flaws, but to fix all the flaws means changing most parts. So starting over made the most sense. http://woodgears.ca/dust_collector/v1.html I have a seriels of articles and videos about the new dust collector: http://woodgears.ca/dust_collector As well as plans for sale for it: http://woodgears.ca/dust_collector/plans

Easy cyclone separator

04:38
I had a need for a cyclone separator for my CNC because it keeps plugging the filter in my shop vac. I didn't want to spend a bunch time building one so I though I would put one together as simple as I could and checks its efficiency. I think it turned out pretty good for a total of 20 minute work time to build it. https://instagram.com/shop_built/ https://www.facebook.com/pages/Shop-built/713921978645450?ref=aymt_homepage_panel https://twitter.com/nods221 www.shopbuilt.org

Cheap and Easy DIY Dust Separator

08:41
How to make a quick and easy two-stage dust collection system with a trash can, a shop vac, and cheap PVC fittings. See the full article at: https://daileywoodworks.com/2018/03/24/diy-dust-separator/ This is not a cyclone separator and I'm not aiming for 100% efficiency. I just got tired of my filter bags in my shop vacs getting clogged up after a couple of days. I used what I had and $20 of PVC fittings and made what is about an 80% effective separator. Considering filter bags are about $5 each this quickly pays for itself. I plan on refining this design to make it more effective. Visit my website: https://daileywoodworks.com

DIY Dust Separator (Thien Baffle)

11:28
DIY dust separator. This thing kicks butt. I can go through about 20 contractors bags filled with dust/chips before I clean the filter (and it still looks clean and runs strong). This is the second one I've made. The first was for a shop vac and it worked so well, I had to make one for my dust collector. This means I have to jerry-rig adapters to fit around those 4-inch ports on the back of my shop tools. In this video I make a custom dust collection adapter for the port on my new drum sander. This video kind of piggy-backs on a previous video of mine which is making dust collection adapters from PVC pipe.
