The Republican health care bill makes no sense

04:50
The bill doesn’t know what problem it’s trying to solve. For more Vox analysis: http://www.vox.com/2017/1/5/14179258/obamacare-repeal-republican-votes-trump You can read the bill here: http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/06/politics/house-republicans-obamacare-repeal-replace-text/ https://waysandmeans.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/03.06.17-AmericanHealthCareAct_Summary.pdf Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Republicans in the House have finally released a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare: the American Health Care Act. The GOP healthcare bill keeps some of the most popular parts of Obamacare, like letting young adults stay on their parents' health insurance until age 26 and requiring insurance companies to cover people with pre-existing conditions. But the Republican bill gets rid of the key element that made Obamacare work: the individual mandate. Now that people aren't required to have insurance, healthy people could leave insurance pools en masse, leaving sick people who are more expensive to cover. Hypocrisy is a minor sin in politics, but still, it is remarkable how much of it there is to be found in this legislation. A core Republican complaint when Obamacare was passed was that the law delayed many of its provisions in order to reduce public outcry and manipulate the CBO’s score. The GOP bill is similarly aggressive with such tricks, delaying changes to the Medicaid expansion until 2020 and pushing Obamacare’s tax on expensive insurance plans out until 2025. Because Republicans aren’t even trying to win Democratic votes, they’re stuck designing a bill that can wiggle through the budget reconciliation process (another thing they complained about Democrats doing). That means they can’t make major changes to insurance markets like repealing Obamacare’s essential benefit standards or allowing insurance to be sold across state lines. That last part is particularly striking, given that it was one of President Trump’s five demands in his speech last week. I’ve always been skeptical about the savings Republicans could wrest by changing those regulations, but now they can’t get those savings at all — which means sacrificing a key part of their theory of cost control. This bill has a lot of problems, and more will come clear as experts study its language, the Congressional Budget Office release its estimates, and industry players make themselves heard. But the biggest problem this bill has is that it’s not clear why it exists. What does it make better? What is it even trying to achieve? Democrats wanted to cover more people and reduce long-term costs, and they had an argument for how their bill did both. As far as I can tell, Republicans have neither. At best, you can say this bill makes every obvious health care metric a bit worse, but at least it cuts taxes on rich people? Is that really a winning argument in American politics? In reality, what I think we’re seeing here is Republicans trying desperately to come up with something that would allow them to repeal and replace Obamacare. This is a compromise of a compromise of a compromise aimed at fulfilling that promise. But “repeal and replace” is a political slogan, not a policy goal. This is a lot of political pain to endure for a bill that won’t improve many peoples’ lives, but will badly hurt millions. Healthcare or Wealthcare? 24 Million to Lose Insurance Under GOP Plan While Rich Get Big Tax Breaks

13:24
http://democracynow.org - A startling new report from the Congressional Budget Office is projecting 24 million people will lose health insurance coverage by 2026 under the Republican plan to replace the Affordable Care Act. Fourteen million people would lose health insurance in the next year alone. While the White House rejected the CBO findings, Politico is reporting the White House’s own analysis predicts 26 million people will lose coverage under the bill over the next decade. According to the CBO, the bill would reduce the deficit by $337 billion, but one of the biggest beneficiaries of the Republican bill will be millionaires. A new study by the Tax Policy Center shows people in the top 0.1 percent would get a tax cut of about $207,000 under the plan. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi accused Republicans of attempting to push through the biggest transfer of wealth in the nation’s history. We speak to Elisabeth Benjamin, vice president of Health Initiatives at the Community Service Society of New York and co-founder of the Health Care for All New York campaign. Trump Tax Plan 4 Ways it Affects Real Estate

05:51
In today's real estate advice episode you'll learn about Trump tax plan 4 ways it affects real estate. **Please note this video is for educational purposes only and doesn't offer nor imply any tax advice, financial planning, or legal advice. Please consult the appropriate tax, financial, and legal service to learn more about how Trump tax 2018 affects you personally.** The Trump tax plan is widely discussed and every present in our day to day lives. But how is it going to impact us and what does the Trump tax mean for us moving forward? You be the judge. Tell us what your thinking and feeling in the comments section below. Thank you. In this video we'll take a closer look at how the Trump tax reform affects real estate. To be as objective as possible we'll look at a couple of positives one of which the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and people like you helped to keep in tact and a couple of negatives. Impacts of Trump tax on real estate in this video include: 1. Trump tax on mortgage interest deduction changes from the 1MM previously allowed on primary and secondary homes to $750,000 going forward. 2. The property tax deduction 2018 will look much different when you meet with your accountant. Previously no cap was placed on property tax. Yet property tax under trump is now capped at $10,000. For homeowners in expensive areas like New York, California, etc... having a property tax cap may be the difference between maintain their home not to mention the impact on the home buyers and the new realities requiring adjustment by would be home sellers. 3. Trump tax capital gains real estate, if Trump had his way he would've instituted a much more stringent ruling on the time period associated with capital gains tax. Real estate capital tax under Trump initially proposed would've required a homeowner occupy their primary residence for the most recent 5 of 5 years to qualify for the capital gains tax exemption. Fortunately, real estate agents rallied nationwide and sent over 300k letters to congress and with the NAR's lobbyists and, very likely, your petitions as well, we were able to ensure no changes to the current rules governing real estate capital gains are safe, at least for now. If you're wondering what are the current rules on real estate capital gains, here you go: a. Live in your primary residence for 2 of the most recent 5 years i. Single- up to 250k tax exemption for primary home ii. Married- up to 500k tax exemption on primary residence 4. Estate tax under Trump tax plan received a massive boon in the form of doubling the current Estate tax exemption. This really affects the Top 1% of earners/ wealthiest in the US. a. Single- estate tax exemptions up to $11.2MM b. Married- tax exemptions on estates up to $22.4MM Want to know more about the Trump tax plan, check out the following sources: https://smartasset.com/taxes/heres-how-the-trump-tax-plan-could-affect-you https://www.thebalance.com/trump-s-tax-plan-how-it-affects-you-4113968 https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/21/how-the-tax-bill-will-affect-the-middle-class.html Share your thoughts and feelings about the impacts of Trump tax on real estate with us in the comments section below. Trump Tax Reform Explained

14:23
After failing to repeal and replace Obamacare, Trump is turning to tax reform. Ana Kasparian, Bren Mankiewicz, Michael Shure, the hosts of The Young Turks, show you what’s in his plan. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. Join TYT: https://goo.gl/v8E64M “INDIANAPOLIS — President Trump on Wednesday began a full-throttle push to slash taxes and salvage what is left of his foundering legislative agenda in Congress, proposing a politically challenging array of tax cuts for individuals and businesses that would constitute the most sweeping changes to the federal tax code in decades. Mr. Trump, smarting from the latest defeat this week of his efforts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, cast his tax plan as an economic imperative and the fulfillment of a promise to his coalition of working-class supporters to deliver benefits in the form of lower taxes, better jobs and higher wages. But the president offered few details about how working people might benefit from a plan that has explicit and substantial rewards for wealthy people and corporations, including the elimination of taxes on large inheritances and deep reductions in the rates paid by businesses large and small. “This is a revolutionary change, and the biggest winners will be middle class workers as jobs start pouring into our country, as companies start competing for American labor, and as wages continue to grow,” Mr. Trump told hundreds of supporters in a nondescript building at the Indiana State Fair Grounds. “This will be the lowest top marginal income tax rate for small and midsize businesses in more than 80 years.” Read more here: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/27/us/politics/trump-tax-cut-plan-middle-class-deficit.html Hosts: Ana Kasparian, Bren Mankiewicz, Michael Shure Cast: Ana Kasparian, Bren Mankiewicz, Michael Shure *** The Largest Online News Show in the World. The new US tax law, explained with cereal

It passed without a single vote from Democrats in the House or the Senate, and it’s a huge windfall for the richest Americans, including President Donald Trump. But Republicans didn’t just want any new tax law, they wanted to reform the tax code. To give the richest Americans a big tax cut while still funding the government’s essential functions, like building roads and flying fighter jets, the GOP needed to find tax revenue somewhere else. To do that, they had to start taxing income that used to be tax-free, by closing loopholes and eliminating deductions. If all of that sounds boring and confusing, fear not. We’ve broken it down in this video. Just don’t blame us if it leaves you craving cereal.

How tax breaks help the rich

Check out http://www.vox.com to get up to speed on everything from Kurdistan to the Kim Kardashian app. The gap between the rich and the poor in America looks more like developing countries than other Western nations. Trump and the GOP have proposed tax plans that will give massive tax breaks to the wealthy while it remains unclear if the middle class will get a tax benefit. Deductions give a greater proportion of tax breaks to people with higher incomes. The same charitable contribution from two different incomes will benefit the higher wage earner, because deductions give tax breaks in proportion with tax brackets. Other countries have eliminated certain tax deductions in favor of tax credits. Credits give breaks in proportion to the amount you give, not the amount you owe. There are two kinds of income in the US. We tax wage income at a higher rate than income earned in stocks and bonds. That means people who get their income from capital gains and stock market interest pay fewer taxes than the same income of someone who works for a paycheck.

Why Are American Health Care Costs So High?

07:53
In which John discusses the complicated reasons why the United States spends so much more on health care than any other country in the world, and along the way reveals some surprising information, including that Americans spend more of their tax dollars on public health care than people in Canada, the UK, or Australia. Who's at fault? Insurance companies? Drug companies? Malpractice lawyers? Hospitals? Or is it more complicated than a simple blame game? (Hint: It's that one.) Trumpcare: Billionaire Tax Cut Disguised As Healthcare Plan

Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://www.tytnetwork.com/join "Senate Republican leadership released a draft of its long-awaited healthcare bill Thursday, ending weeks of speculation and a secretive process that frustrated Democrats and even some Republicans. The legislation — called the Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017 — would roll back much of the Affordable Care Act, the healthcare law better known as Obamacare, including various tax provisions. It would also scale back funding that goes toward health coverage for low-income Americans and tax credits for middle-income earners who purchase their own health insurance, according to the draft released Thursday. The plan would also provide funding designed to help stabilize the Obamacare insurance markets in the near term and funnel money through programs to cut off access to funding for abortion providers.”* Read more here: http://www.businessinsider.com/senate-healthcare-bill-trumpcare-ahca-details-2017-6 Hosts: Cenk Uygur, John Iadarola Cast: Cenk Uygur, John Iadarola *** The Largest Online News Show in the World. Trump's Tax Plan Explained

Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://tytnetwork.com/go "Lower business taxes. During the campaign, Trump pledged to slash taxes on companies. Right now, the US corporate tax rate is 35%, among the world's highest (many firms pay far less). He wants to reduce that to 15%. Another type of business - known as a pass-through entity because profits "pass through" to the owners and get taxed as personal income - would get that same rate. (Real estate firms - including President Trump's - are often organised this way.) That corporate rate would be lower than Britain's (about 20%) and Hong Kong's (16.5%), but not as low as Ireland's (12.5%), according to a ranking by the KPMG accounting firm. China's corporate tax rate is 20%, but some firms and industries there face a 15% rate.”* Read more here: http://www.bbc.com/news/business-39710441 Hosts: Cenk Uygur, John IadarolaCast: Cenk Uygur, John Iadarola *** The Largest Online News Show in the World. Trump Breaking News Network - FINALLY: Senate GOP tax reform bill gets RID of Obamacare individual mandate, returning health freedom to Americans. Earlier this year the Republican-controlled Senate was responsible for killing off a full repeal-and-replacement of Obamacare, leading many to question whether the GOP was capable of leading and keeping key campaign promises. Now, however, Republican senators appear set to at least eliminate the very unpopular individual mandate, which forces all Americans to buy a product — health insurance — for the first time in U.S. history. As reported by CNBC: The proposed Republican tax reform bill will include repeal of Obamacare’s individual mandate requiring most Americans to have some form of health insurance or pay a tax penalty, GOP leaders said Tuesday. The decision means that Republicans, yet again in 2017, will attempt to gut a key element of the Affordable Care Act. “We’re optimistic that inserting individual mandate repeal would be helpful,” said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. on Tuesday afternoon after a lunch meeting with the Republican conference. Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., added, “I’m pleased the Senate Finance Committee has accepted my proposal to repeal the Obamacare individual mandate in the tax legislation.” “Repealing the mandate pays for more tax cuts for working families and protects them from being fined by the IRS for not being able to afford insurance that Obamacare made unaffordable in the first place,” Cotton continued. “I urge the House to include the mandate repeal in their tax legislation.” Other Republican leaders were also optimistic and said that getting rid of the onerous mandate, which many believe has led to sharp increases in health premiums, would be a huge money-saver for tens of millions of Americans at the lower end of the income spectrum. “We’re going to repeal the tax on poor Americans,” said Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas, adding that most Americans who pay a penalty for not having health insurance — which is also a component of Obamacare — are lower income earners. Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., told The Washington Post that there were 50 Republicans in the chamber willing to support getting rid of the mandate. That’s enough for passage given that Vice President Mike Pence would cast the tie-breaking vote in favor of repeal. The deal to get rid of the individual mandate didn’t come completely free to taxpayers, however. Thune said there was an agreement to pass another measure known as Alexander-Murray, “which would restore key federal subsidy reimbursements to Obamacare insurers cut off last month by President Donald J. Trump, CNBC reported. Naturally, Democrats were dismissive and critical of the effort — not just because they gave us Obamacare in the first place without a single Republican vote, but because as the real party of big government, they see nothing wrong with imposing as many government-mandated costs on the American people as possible. (Related: Obamacare exchanges hit with over 50 percent fail rate; feds claim the worse the glitches, the bigger the success!) What’s more, Democrats are far less willing to support a little concept we like to call “health freedom” — in this case, the freedom for individuals themselves to decide whether or not they want to spend their money on health insurance, and in what amount. “They’re cutting taxes on the wealthy and taking health care from millions and raising premiums on millions of others all to reduce taxes on the rich,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-New York, in sounding like a broken record. In fact, the plan would save Americans vast sums of money rather than force them to spend vast sums of money on outsized health insurance they neither want nor can use, thanks to the onerous regulatory regime contained in their Affordable Care Act. Since Obamacare became the law of the land, health insurance premiums have skyrocketed, along with out-of-pocket deductibles and other expenses — two things that Obama and Democrats promised their law wouldn’t do. ----------------------------------------------------------- MAKE DONATIONS HERE http://trumpbreakingnewsnetwork.net/donation ----------------------------------------------------------- Source: https://www.naturalnews.com/2017-11-14-finally-senate-gop-tax-reform-bill-gets-rid-of-obamacare-individual-mandate-returning-health-freedom-to-americans.html Please subscribe and share on your social media. 03-08-2018 Rep. Sampson Opposes Individual Mandate - Obamacare Fine

06:24
Rep. Rob Sampson, Ranking Republican Member of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee and Chairman of the General Assembly’s Conservative Caucus, questions Access Health CT CEO James Wadleigh Jr. and Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Katharine Wade about the implications of imposing a fine on individuals who choose not to purchase health insurance. In response to the GOP tax plan, which eliminate the individual health insurance mandate beginning in 2019, motions have been made in Connecticut to reinstate it at the state level. Rep. Sampson believes this is simply a tax on low-income citizens and individuals who are making a personal decision not to purchase a product.

Bernie Destroys Ted Cruz In Tax Debate

Bernie Sanders went head-to-head with Sen. Ted Cruz on Wednesday night in a CNN town-hall debate on the Republican Party's tax plan. The polarizing topic of tax reform has been at the center of Capitol Hill. Republicans have explored trying to pass a tax bill without Democratic support, while Democrats say they feel left out of a crucial, bipartisan process of governing. Included in the GOP's tax plan is a 20% corporate tax rate, the elimination of the estate tax, and a reduction in tax brackets to three from seven. Cruz defended the plan, saying on CNN, "Republicans want to lower the taxes for each and every person watching this debate." He argued that a lower corporate tax rate would allow businesses to create more jobs. Sanders, however, said the GOP's tax plan was about giving "tax breaks to people who don't need it," adding that he supports "a tax cut for the middle class and working families.””* Read more here: http://www.businessinsider.com/bernie-sanders-ted-cruz-cnn-debate-tax-reform-2017-10 Hosts: Cenk Uygur Cast: Cenk Uygur *** The Largest Online News Show in the World. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said he was opposed to the new bill because it disproportionately benefits corporations at the expense of other businesses. “If they can pass it without me, let them,” Johnson said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. “I’m not going to vote for this tax package.””* Read more here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/democrats-furious-over-new-gop-attempt-to-gut-obamacare/2017/11/15/fdc382f8-ca23-11e7-8321-481fd63f174d_story.html?utm_term=.464a6fd2b0cc Hosts: John Iadarola, Ana Kasparian, Jayar Jackson Cast: John Iadarola, Ana Kasparian, Jayar Jackson *** The Largest Online News Show in the World. The GOP Fix for Obamacare: Rich Get Tax Breaks While Millions of Others Lose Healthcare

16:54
http://democracynow.org - House Republicans have unveiled long-awaited legislation to repeal much of the Affordable Care Act—also known as Obamacare—including its expansion of the Medicaid program for the poor. The proposal includes a large tax break for insurance companies that pay their CEOs over $500,000 per year. It also defunds Planned Parenthood and eliminates abortion coverage. The Republican proposal does retain Obamacare’s requirement that insurers cover people with pre-existing conditions. However, it scraps the revenue-generating mechanism that makes this possible: the individual mandate, which required all Americans to sign up for health insurance or pay a fee. President Donald Trump and fellow Republicans have repeatedly promised to repeal and replace Obamacare, but their efforts have faced internal divisions as well as sustained outcry from constituents at town hall meetings across the country. For more, we speak with John McDonough, professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He is the former executive director of Health Care for All in Massachusetts, which played a key role in the passage of the 2006 Massachusetts health reform law. Mark Levin: The House and Senate bill on taxes are not serious tax reform plans and should fail!

20:09
These are not across the board tax cuts. The only serious slashing of taxes occurs on the corporate side and individuals will be subsidizing them. Many will not be able to deduct property taxes and other deductions in their states. We are told that this is the biggest tax cut in American history, but that is not true and the Republicans should stop saying so. If this plan passes this would be an enormous setback for the Republican Party and conservatism. (November 13 2017)

Healthcare bill would cut taxes by $663 billion

01:16
Trump Breaking News Network - Healthcare bill would cut taxes by $663 billion The healthcare bill passed by the House earlier this month will cut taxes by about $663 billion over the next 10 years, according to an analysis by the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation. The estimates don't include tax changes affecting health insurance coverage, which were included in a separate analysis by the Congressional Budget Office. One of the largest sources of savings in the bill, estimated at $144 billion over a decade, would be the repeal of ObamaCare's annual tax on health insurance providers. Ending the tax is a priority for insurers, and both Democrats and Republicans have voted to delay its start. The repeal would be retroactively effective as of Jan. 31, 2016. ----------------------------------------------------------- MAKE DONATIONS HERE http://trumpbreakingnewsnetwork.net/donation ----------------------------------------------------------- Source: http://thehill.com/business-a-lobbying/335014-healthcare-bill-would-cut-taxes-by-663-billion Please subscribe and share on your social media.
