Knee Pain With Exercise (SURPRISING CAUSE and HOW TO FIX IT!)

08:38
No Pain, MORE Gain with the joint supplement trusted by today’s top pro athletes - http://athleanx.com/x/mechan-x-joint-recovery Knee pain is one of the most debilitating discomforts that you can feel when you're working out, especially during a leg workout. Pain in your knees can come in many different forms. You can get ligament pain usually seen from an injury to the ACL or MCL. You can get meniscus pain that usually results in a knee that gives out or locks unexpectedly. You can also get arthritic changes to the surfaces of the bones in the joint that makes movement difficult. That said, the most common cause of knee pain in those working out is patellofemoral or patellar tracking dysfunction. In this video, I show you the root cause of the knee pain and more importantly, how to fix the pain. There are many exercises for knee pain but if the ones you're doing are only focusing on the quads and the muscles around the knee, then you're not looking at the complete picture. Most pains are caused by dysfunction at joints above or below the site of the pain. In the case of the knee, you have to look up to the hip or down to the ankle for the real cause of the pain. Patellofemoral exercises are usually the focus of treatment for knee pain. They even are considered the best workout for knee pain. That's a mistake. There's more to getting rid of knee soreness than just working on that VMO. Knee pain on squats is common when there are tracking issues in the kneecap. Most often, weak hips (glute medius exactly) cause the femur to track incorrectly. You want to do exercises for knee pain that strengthen your glutes. I show you the easiest and best way to do this so you can start fixing your knee discomfort and soreness starting now. For a more comprehensive treatment for knee pain, you may want to check out the latest in sports nutrition and science. The ATHLEAN-Rx joint supplement - MECHAN-X is revolutionizing joint recovery and helping guys who have suffered with pain in their training, workout without pain for the first time in a long time. DIY Gym Cable Machine - Full Build Log - Part 4of4

09:43
DIY Home Gym Adjustable Pulley Cable Machine Build Log Part 4 of 4 - Paint, Assembly & Demonstration Here's a video log of how I built my own adjustable cable machine for my home gym. These are widely available online but I couldn't find the one for me: - Very expensive - £475 was the cheapest retail machine I could find with a rotating and height adjustable pulley. - Size - You'll see in the video that my home gym is not the biggest! All of the retail machines I found we're totally floor standing and as such had large footprints to prevent them from tipping over. They would've taken up far too much space in my gym. - Capacity - All the adjustable retail units that I could find used weight stacks and the cheapest maxed out at around 70KG which is fine for most exercises but could easily be exceeded for lat work and there didn't seem to be any way to increase the maximum weight capacity. My design uses 1" bars to hold the weights so it can take standard home gym weight plates which you've probably already got and can be bought for next to nothing on ebay. As such it also has finer increments for weight adjustments which make it ideal for light weight rehab work. I'd like others to have a go at building one of these (or two for a crossover!) for their own home gyms. I had intended for the videos to be a full tutorial for anyone to have a go but realistically I think a maker would need to have some basic/intermediate DIY/fabrication experience, as although I've made sure to include all of the important steps, I can't possibly cover 100%. Also, for the significant cost savings to be viable, you'd need to already have a well stocked set of tools as you see me use in the video. That being said, I would invite anyone to give it a go! My design DWG file and a PDF print are available through the below link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3rymtpe1svan1mt/Cable%20Machine.zip?dl=0 The PDF is intended as an overview only. If you're going to build this then you will need to use the DWG file so you can take precise measurements and prints as and when you need them throughout the build. If you don't have AutoCAD to view the file then you can download TrueView for free from the AutoDesk website which will let you measure and print as needed. Basic Materials List: 40x40x2mm Mild steel welded box section for the main frame 50x50x2mm Mild steel welded box section for the weight plate mount and pulley mount 3mm Thick mild steel sheet for the base and all other plate pieces you see 1" 14AWG Mild steel tube for the weight plates M10 Part-threaded bolts, nuts, washers, rod etc Steel sleeves, M10 internal, 15mm external 95mm Pulleys, M10 hole. Pack of 10 from Ebay Hong Kong seller Plastic coated wire rope, 5mm overall diameter 8mm detent pin to secure the pulley assembly to its various heights on the frame Split pins to secure the pulley assembly hinge pin 5mm Wire rope clamps and carabiner 40mmx40mm Box section plastic end caps 2mm Plastic sheet to sleeve the weight and pulley assemblies Etch primer and gloss black top coat (approx 800ml of each) 4mm Thick mild steel spacer washers used to space pulleys from the frame according to the designs With the exception of the main steel order, all other parts were from ebay. Total material cost £196.92 I'll provide more details on all of the above if needed.

Knee Exercises to Strengthen Muscles around the Patella to Avoid Knee Pain

05:22
Health & Fitness Expert, Aliesa George http://www.centerworks.com This video shows you a quick and easy exercise you can practice almost anywhere to help strengthen the muscles around the knee cap and learn how to stabilize the knee joint to avoid locking the knee. http://www.Centerworks.com/blog I like to call this the Kneecap Dance, but in technical terms the Knee cap is called the Patella, so this is actually a Patella tracking exercise that has the added benefit of helping to strengthen the quadriceps and stabilize the knee. Executed correctly, you'll be improving the muscle control and support for your knee joint and learning how not to jam the kneecap back and cause pain or locked knees. Ok, are you ready? Id encourage you to either wear shorts to get started, or roll your pant legs up so that you can see your knees. Sit down on the floor, or a mat, and since our focus isn't on posture today...if you want to sit with your back against a wall so you only have to pay attention to your knees and not worry about your core and back muscles working to help you sit tall... I'm fine with that. Extend both legs straight out in front of you. If you're feeling a hamstring stretch there's another muscle that needs some attention to help your knees feel better! If you want to take a bit of the stretch off, sit up on a phone book, or maybe on a footstool or in a chair. Its important that you have straight, but unlocked knees to practice this knee exercise. Alright, to start I like to put my fingers on my kneecap and just gently wiggle it around. You want to be sure that you can identify the difference between when it is relaxed, and when it is lifted. If its relaxed and has some wiggle room, you're in a good starting position. Take your hands and stroke upwards along the inside and outside of the thigh, starting along the sides of the knee, and lifting to about mid-thigh. This action uses your hands to cue the muscles of the quadriceps along the front and sides of the thigh to lift the kneecap. If you're watching your knee while this is happening, you want to look and notice that your knee cap is lifting up as the quadriceps muscle fires. Lift, hold for several seconds, then release and watch the knee cap slide back to its resting, relaxed position. Now that you've got your knee cap moving - here's the challenge: Place one hand under each knee or both hands under one knee if you're practicing with one leg at a time. Now do your knee cap lifting exercise. Did you feel your leg press back into your hands as your kneecap lifted? If your answer is yes! You are locking your knee as you straighten your leg, which places more pressure and potential pain on the knee joint. So keep your hand behind your knee until you can move your kneecaps and keep the leg bones straight and still. If you can lift your kneecaps and your leg doesn't move. Congratulations, you've figured out how to do the exercise correctly. That's it! Its a simple knee exercise that you really can do just about anywhere. I like to start seated, but eventually, you want to also practice this while you're standing up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7gPajdzje0

How To Replace Worn Treadmill Roller Bearings - Treadmill Repair

11:59
The bearings on my treadmill went bad and were making horrible scary noises. But my treadmill was still under warranty, so they sent me a brand new rear roller. I replaced the old roller with the new one. On the treadmills I had owned, it has always been the rear roller bearings that have gone bad. Looking at my current treadmill, a Sole F85, the front roller is larger and has larger bearings. So I think that is why they don't fail as fast as the rear roller bearings. But since I had the old roller with the worn bearings, I decided to have some fun and make a new video. So in this video, I show you how to replace the bearings on your treadmill. Afterall, when the warranty expires, you are the warranty. I bought the blind hole bearing puller I use in the video at Harbor Freight, but you can rent them cheaper at many places including auto parts stores. The bearings that were on the roller were labelled 6203Z, and the brand name was TMT. I searched for bearings and found many made in China bearings for cheap, but I had also read many poor reviews for bearings made in China. I found some Nachi (made in Japan) bearings on eBay for less than $6 each and ordered those. The model number on these is 6203ZZE. The Nachi bearings had many great reviews and are supposed to be good quality bearings. I am not an expert on bearings, but I think you want to get "deep groove ball bearing" type bearings for a treadmill. And also bearings that are sealed to keep dirt from getting in them. I hope this video helps you repair your treadmill and keep it going for many years. Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy

Recumbent Bike vs. Upright for Knee Pain | Knee Exercises

01:57
Watch more How to Do Physical Therapy Exercises for the Knees videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/510333-Recumbent-Bike-vs-Upright-for-Knee-Pain-Knee-Exercises I get asked a lot from patients whether or not they should be using the bike at the gym, and specifically, whether they should use the recumbent bike, which is the bike that has the back rest and you're kind of in a long sitting position versus the upright bike. The more stationary bikes you see in the gym where you're more upright, no back support. Things that almost mimic the outside. And it's a real simple answer, the upright bike is better. The recumbent bike is often recommended, really just for your older population or your patients who might have a balance disorder, so they're worried about falling off the bike. They're worried about being so high up that they get a little scared and they need that back support, maybe and the hand support to stay on and not be too concerned. The upright bike on the other hand, really for a number of reasons is the way to go. In the presence of knee pain, it's going to allow the knee to bend and extend more consistently at a better angle, which is great for nourishment for the knee. And it's also going to allow the quads to work more optimally, as well as the hamstrings. And lastly, you're also going to be using your core, so as you're doing your rehab at the gym or rehab in a physical therapy clinic, just strengthening your core as a secondary assignment is great for later on, when you're doing functional activities like squats and lunges. The key thing with the upright bike though, is the setup. Too many people are setting up the bike where it's setup a little too low. It's not allowing the knee to bend enough and extend enough. Plus, they're not getting the proper nourishment inside the knee or the proper workout for your quad and hamstrings. The general rule is you want to have your knee in a down position or when your foot's in a down position to be at about 25 degrees of flexion, which is not a lot. It's almost full extension. Every repetition they're getting to that spot. It's much better for the knee, so in general it's the upright exercise bike, way before the recumbent.

How to Strengthen Your Knees

02:12
Watch more How to Do Basic Exercises videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/237586-How-to-Strengthen-Your-Knees Your knees support much of your weight. Exercise can keep your knees healthy by strengthening the muscles surrounding the joints. Warning Always consult a physician before attempting any exercise plan. Step 1: Strengthen quadriceps Do quadriceps exercises. Strong quads make for strong knees. Sit in a chair, back straight, and place a rolled towel under your knees. Step 2: Lift leg to horizontal position Slowly lift one leg until it is horizontal to the ground, hold it for three seconds, and then slowly return the leg to the beginning position. Repeat with your opposite leg, working up to three sets of 12 to 15 repetitions. Tip Joint supplements like glucosamine can help keep your joints supple. Step 3: Perform quad leg lifts Perform quad leg lifts by lying flat on your back on the floor. Bend one knee to a 90-degree angle. Step 4: Lift straight leg Lift the straight leg slowly until it is parallel with the bent knee, hold it for three seconds, then slowly return it to the floor. Perform this 10 times, and then repeat with your opposite leg, working up to 10 repetitions. Tip Do not exercise the same muscle groups two days in a row. Step 5: Perform quad squats Perform 12 to 15 quad squats by slowly squatting, keeping your knees at a wider than 90 degree angle. Hold the position for one second, and then slowly return to a standing position. Step 6: Strengthen hamstrings Do hamstring exercises, which will help strengthen your knees. While on your stomach, place your left foot on your right heel. Step 7: Lift right heel Slowly lift your right heel up while resisting with your left foot. Hold the position for 10 seconds and return to the beginning position. Complete 10 repetitions; then repeat with your other leg. Did You Know? Female athletes are up to eight times more likely to suffer knee injuries than male athletes, possibly due to the different ways in which they react to fatigue.

A simple guide to electronic components.

38:06
By request:- A basic guide to identifying components and their functions for those who are new to electronics. This is a work in progress, and I welcome feedback from you guys on whether I should break it down into more manageable chunks. I've kept the maths to a minimum, since it can be off-putting to someone just getting started in electronics. The idea of this video is to slot in some more of the jigsaw pieces involved in learning electronics, when you start to recognise components, but aren't quite sure what they are or what they do. It's tricky to squeeze even the basics into a single video, and I've just realised how long this one is (and why it took all night to upload). If you enjoy my videos you can support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and components at https://www.patreon.com/bigclive

How To Replace Treadmill Rear Belt Roller (Noisy Worn Bearings)

04:24
The bearings on the rear roller of my Sole F85 treadmill started making scary knocking, chirping noises. They were obviously worn out after a couple thousand miles of running. My treadmill was still under warranty for parts, so I called Sole, and they sent me a new roller. In this video, I show you how to remove the old roller and install the new one. If your treadmill is not under warranty, this video will still might be helpful. You can remove the roller, replace the bearings, re-install the roller and adjust the belt. The bearings on this roller are labelled "6203Z". Doing a google search, I found a bunch of places selling these bearings. Your treadmill may use different bearings, but chances are, you can probably find replacements if you need them. Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/RJTheBikeGuy

Build a Cheap Free Weight Home Gym

17:43
I show you how to build a cheap free weight home gym and how to find the best deals on gym equipment. Transcript: Having a home gym has a lot of advantages such as not having to drive to the gym, not having to wait for equipment on a busy day, and being able to listen to your music without headphones. But many of you might find it either space or cost prohibitive to have your own home gym. For space you really don't need that much. The minimum is around 100 square feet for the equipment I'm going to be going over. As for my gym at home, I have 13 by 13 foot size, and that's more than enough. Now as far as cost, depending on the equipment you need, it's anywhere from around $1200 to $2500. $1200 is the bare minimum, and the biggest difference for the fluctuation in range is whether or not you want to have sets of dumbbells or if you're just buying one set of adjustable dumbbells. Now the key to saving on gym equipment is to be patient, or checking Amazon, Craigslist, and deal sites like slickdeals.com. You're also going to want to check the local gyms around you just to see, they're going to have a lot of used equipment that's in pretty good shape, even though it's old. It's going to be a lot better to get that than to get some chintzy new equipment that isn't going to last you as long. When I purchased my gym equipment it was around March or April of 2013. Prices are always going to change but the tactics you use to find those prices will not. Now for any home gym you're going to need a power rack. This is the Valor Athletics BD Seven power rack. I got this for around $500 on Amazon. Right now it's between $500 and $600 on Amazon. But you're going to want to use a historic price checking site such as keepa.com to check price history on Amazon items. You don't want to pay a record high price for your item. So if this is on a record high currently, just wait a few months or few weeks if you have the patience. Ceiling height can be an issue for any power rack. The Valor BD Seven with the rubber end caps removed it's about six feet 10 inches. My ceiling is just over seven feet one inch. Now I took away some drywall and there's an additional nine and half inches in between the wooden slats. This is so you can do pull ups and chin ups. So definitely measure your ceiling height before purchasing this if you're in a basement or if you're putting this on the first floor. Putting together this power rack is a chore. But given the parts and the complexity, especially the pulley system in the back, I don't see how it could be any easier. Just make sure you have the right tools for it. I did have a warped piece of plastic in the back for the pulley system, but Jim Vanderbleek, the owner of the Valor Athletics, answered my email and shipped out a replacement part immediately, so customer service is great for this. You're also going to need an Olympic weight set. It's pretty much a necessity, along with an Olympic bar. I purchased these at Dick's Sporting Goods. They were on sale for under $300 for 255 pounds, and then you can just get some clips at Amazon for around $10. If you need more than 255 pounds just get two additional 45 pound weights locally, either on Craigslist or at a local gym. It really doesn't matter if they're rusty, they're just weights. Also you're going to need a calf block. This is a necessity for all your calf exercises since you're not going to have any dedicated calf machines. You can do a variety of different exercises, but each one uses this. It's about $50 on Amazon. Next you're going to want a bench. I have the Ironmaster Super Bench. It was around $320 on Amazon. I know over $300 is a lot just for a bench but it's really versatile and you can do incline, decline, of course flat, but you really want to make sure you get a sturdy bench because this is rated 1000 pounds. You don't want to get a bench that's rated much lower than that. You don't want to get a cheap Marcy or a Nova bench. You can also see if your local gym has a bench as well. You might not be able to get one that does incline and decline. But that's what I like about this one because if you have two benches, especially in a space as small as 13 by 13 or any smaller, you're going to start to get a little crowded. With the seat attachment you can do an incline. Then you can also get an additional decline attachment. This is around $70. Again, it's all together around $400 for a bench but it's definitely worth it. You might be able to find it cheaper but just put this on the end and then that's your decline as well. Now you're also going to want some dumbbells. If you're going to go the cheaper route just get a pair of adjustable dumbbells. These were on Amazon for around 260. A lot of the cost was from shipping so if you can find some adjustable dumbbells on Craigslist it'll save a lot of money that way. Complete transcript available at: http://goo.gl/aEPElB

Knee Exercises for Pain Free Leg Workouts (NO MORE PAIN!)

07:47
Build ripped, athletic legs without knee pain with this workout… http://athleanx.com/x/build-ripped-athletic-legs-without-joint-pain Performing leg workouts and leg exercises can be difficult when dealing with knee pain. In this video, I show you two very big reasons why this happens, and most importantly, what leg exercises you should start doing to eliminate the knee pain and build stronger legs. I put on my physical therapist hat for you to explain the nuances of each exercise and what it means for you depending on your particular source of knee pain. To start, you have to consider the type of knee pain you are dealing with. There are 4 very common sources of knee pain when working out. The first comes from the common osteoarthritis. This is the degeneration of the surfaces of the cartilage in the knee joint that often results in the bone on bone condition that can be painful during knee exercises and leg workouts. In general, exercise that cause you to drop down too low can be a problem for those that have this condition. The second common source of knee pain is patellar tendonitis or patellofemoral syndrome. This particular type of pain will cause knee dominant exercises that displace the tibia forward as you perform the movement to be very problematic. With this type of knee pain, you need to fill your leg workouts with exercises that keep your shin more vertical as you perform them. Likewise, having a torn ACL that has not been repaired successfully or not at all, will cause your knee to be unstable and susceptible to pain when performing certain leg exercises. When the ACL is not intact, your tibia will translate forward on your femur causing the knee to be unstable during leg exercises that cause the shin to tilt when performing them. As you’ll see in the video, this includes exercises like ass to grass squats and forward lunges. Finally, if your knee pain is coming from a torn meniscus, you will also want to be sure to control the depth of your leg exercises. Causing too much flexion at the knee (particularly under load) will cause a meniscus to become much more susceptible to being pinched and painful. You must select exercises that control the depth of your knee bend if you want to keep your leg workouts pain free. You can select from exercises such as reverse lunges, step ups or the bulgarian split squat as long as you step out far enough when setting up to perform it. Knee pain is a very common problem for those that work out. It becomes especially problematic when the pain you have in your knees prevents you from being able to do your leg workouts in the first place. This just leads to more weakness in your legs and knees which leads to more problems down the road. If you want to get back to having strong legs you need to do knee exercises that are correct for the problem you have. The ATHLEAN-X Training System is a complete program used by today’s top professional athletes to not just get ripped and build strong athletic bodies…but fortify their joints as well. If you want to follow the same exact workout that the pros use, head to http://athleanx.com and get the step by step plan for building a strong, injury proof body. IT Band Syndrome and Knee Pain (HOW TO FIX IT!)

08:50
Fix tightness and build an athletically functional body here http://athleanx.com/x/build-the-body-of-an-athlete Many lifters, runners and bikers will get pain on the outside of their knee or thigh and think that they have IT Band Syndrome because they’ve been told that they do. Unfortunately, the IT Band is just caught in the middle of some pretty significant problems in one of likely four other muscles. In this video, I show you how four muscles in the hip actually contribute to the pain and tension felt in the Iliotibial band and what you need to do to fix them. Here’s a hint, you do not want to foam roll out the IT Band unless you want more pain and discomfort. The IT Band is a thick fibrous tendon that runs along the lateral aspect of the thigh and connects from the hip to the tibia on the outside of your knee. This tendon has the ability to withstand changes in tension to it by having up to 1000 pounds of resistive capacity. If you think that you are going to be able to foam roll out the tightness that may be present in this structure you are sadly mistaken. That said, you can definitely influence the tension present in this band by addressing the muscles that insert into the IT Band. The gluteus maximus, lateral hamstrings and quads and tensor fascia lata are all muscles that feed into the iliotibial band. When any of these muscles are tight they pull on the band and cause it to be not just tight but also out of balance with the rest of the tension that is contributing or feeding into it. This can cause a pulling on the femur and make it hard to properly execute a squat or ride a bike without feeling pain in the outside of your thigh or knee. Instead of foam rolling the IT Band, you want to compress and floss the offending muscles feeding the tension. Here I show you two of these mobility drills that you can do to decrease the tension in a hypertonic muscle such as the TFL or the lateral quads. You want to use a resilient structure like a lacrosse ball or the fat gripz that I’m using here, since they have a much lower profile than the foam roller. This allows you to keep your leg in contact with the ground and move it into hip flexion as if you were while doing a squat. If you do not feel any discomfort at all in these movements when you place the muscle in contact with the grips, then you likely do not need any work on this muscle. This is one of the biggest places people waste time in the gym these days. They see every mobility drill in the books and want to add it to their routines, not realizing that the wrong mobility drills when performed can actually do more to put you out of balance than bring you into it! Mobility work is only effective if you are mobilizing structures that need it in the first place. Same goes for training and workout programs. Doing what you think looks cool or because someone else told you it was, is not the prescription for an effective workout plan. Doing what needs to be done and only what needs to be done while ignoring the rest of the broscience out there is a great way to get results and get them faster. You can do that by getting the ATHLEAN-X Training system available at http://athleanx.com For more hip mobility videos and ways to help stretch a tight IT Band, be sure to subscribe to our channel here on youtube at http://youtube.com/user/jdcav24

How to maintain and service your treadmill - Fitness Choice

04:41
This instructional video will guide you through what you can do to keep your treadmill running at its best. If you have any questions please contact Fitness Choice through our website or calling. Fitness Choice http://www.fitnesschoice.com.au/ Free call: 1800 22 77 88 Fitness Choice Superstore 622 Waterdale Rd Heidelberg West 3081 Victoria Maintaining your treadmill. There are a few things you can do to ensure your treadmill is running at its best and you get a longer life out of it. Like any other machine it does require maintenance. The first is lubrication. You just need to lubricate the top side of the running deck as this is the side the mat will actually rub against when you're walking or running on it. Most treadmills require a silicone lubricant to be applied every one to two months but this can vary depending on how much use the machine has and will vary between models. Some running decks use a specialised wax to lubricate them but this is not very common on domestic machines so please refer to your user manual if you're not sure. At Fitness Choice you'll be able to get spray on lubricant, this comes with a long plastic nozzle like this. Lifting the belt up with your finger slide the nozzle in as far as you can and spray up and down the machine. Keep the can and nozzle as level as possible to reach the middle of the deck and pull the nozzle further out to reach the sides. Make sure you don't spray or squirt lubricant on the belt surface where you run as it will make the belt slippery and dangerous to use. The next major thing to check on your machine is the belt tension and position. For the belt tightness check set the machine to operate at about six kilometres per hour, then proceed to do the stomp test, that will tell you if the belt is tight or not. If it slips when you stomp down you need to tighten the belt. At the back of the machine you will see the end caps have a screw in them, this is an adjustment screw that requires an Allan key. So you can clearly see what is going on we have taken off the end caps to show you how it works but you don't need to do this. Rotate in both sides the same amount of clockwise turns that will bring the roller back evenly and tighten the belt. First do one half turn then try the test again. It is important not to over-tighten or loosen the belt at any point. Next look at the belt's position on your machine. Visually check if the belt is aligned evenly. Here you are looking at the gap between the running belt and the side foot rests. You need to check that it is both straight and even on either side. To adjust the position of the belt you will be rotating the Allan key adjusters at the back of the machine individually. Turing either of the Allan key adjusters clockwise will pull that side of the roller towards you which will cause the belt to move slightly away from you. Rotating to anti-clockwise will move the roller away from you and the belt will move towards that end. Once it looks even at the far end of the machine check that the belt is straight up to the motor, we will demonstrate how this adjustment is done but we recommend you contact an experienced technician and not do it yourself. To adjust the roller near the motor, remove the cover while the machine is off and unplugged, find the adjuster for the roller, there is only one side adjuster at the motor end because the other side has the drive belt. Here you can adjust the roller so that the belt is straight all the way up the machine. Again don't adjust this roller while the machine is on or plugged in. Turn the Allan key in small increments and see how much the rollers and belt moves, over-turning can cause the belt to slip to the side violently tearing the belt. Turn in quarter turn increments and turn the power back on to check. Run it for a few seconds and see if the belt has moved to the correct position. Do this over and over until it is even but do not adjust the roller while the machine is plugged into the power socket. Once the belt is straight and even on the sides replace and screw in all covers. If you have tightened the belt of the machine and it continues to slip no matter how much you tighten it, then it requires a specialist adjustment of the front roller and motor housing. We recommend you contact an experienced technician for this adjustment. If you have any questions contact any of our staff at Fitness Choice through our website or with a free call to 1800 22 77 88.

How to Squat with Patellar Tendonitis (NO MORE PAIN!)

07:35
Make gains without the pain - http://athleanx.com/x/serious-gains Subscribe to this channel here - http://bit.ly/2b0coMW Doing squats with patellar tendonitis can be downright brutal. In this video, I show you how to squat with a chronic or acute case of patellar tendonitis that is giving you stabbing, sharp pain in your knees every time you bend them to perform another rep. The issue that is going on here is that your tendons in your knees are reluctant to allow the muscles in the legs (mostly the glutes, hamstrings and then the quads) from handling the load of the squat. Most often this is due to a lack of confidence in the strength of these muscles to handle the load that you have on the bar (particularly in the bottom half of the squat). This can also be aggravated even more by a chronic reliance on the tendons to support the weight rather than letting the muscles lift the weight. This is particularly true when you tend to squat by bending the knees first rather than hinging at the hips. You teach your body faulty biomechanics that cause the knees to become too reliant on their tendons to handle the weights. The first step in breaking this cycle is to relearn the squat from the ground up, and as seen here, perform a variation of the squat that allows you to achieve better form with minimal effort. Enter the box squat. The key difference between the box squat and the regular squat (regardless of whether it is a high bar or low bar squat we are talking about) is that the box provides a safety net for your legs which allows you to delegate the load from the tendons to the muscles that should be handling this in the first place. The other benefit of the box is that it provides you with a bottom point for determining parallel without having to guess on each and every rep. Most of the time, those that squat without a box or bench are going to cut short the depth with each subsequent rep (especially as fatigue sets in). Not on the box squat. Here you have the tactile cue of the bench to ensure that you are getting low enough to establish a brief contact of your butt to the bench. The depth you are looking for is one that allows your butt to reach fully parallel. While there is some disagreement as to where this position is. The easiest way to think about it is when the crease in your upper thigh and hip is on the same level as your kneecap. When this happens, you have squatted to parallel and do not need to go any further to see gains. Training hard is required if you want to see muscle gains in your legs or anywhere else for that matter. That said, if you are trying to do this while combatting the pain that is present in your knees, hips, and other joints it is going to be that much more difficult to load up the bar. If you are looking for a program that puts the science back in strength and helps you to build muscle without compromising the joints in your body and your overall joint health, then head to https//athleanx.com and get your ATHLEAN-X Training System. Top Knee Extension Stretch: How to get your knee straight!

02:16
Dr. Ludlow demonstrates the best way to get your knee straight! AJ here, with Stronglife Physiotherapy. Knee range of motion can be difficult to get back after an injury or surgery and if you can't fully straighten your knee it affects the way you walk and leads to other problems. So I want to show you the Stronglife Protocol for getting your knee range of motion back. The longer you wait to try and get you range of motion back after an injury or surgery the more difficult it becomes, so this is best started sooner rather than later. Stretching is a function of time and intensity. For this situation I recommend a low load long duration stretch, meaning a lower intensity stretch held over a longer period of time. A large amount of time spent stretching at end range is critical in getting your range of motion back. You're going to need a backpack, bag or purse, something that has two straps or handles. Put your leg through the straps so they rest above and below the knee and prop your leg up. Next put some weights in the bag. You can use cans, books, or whatever you have available. Start with about 5 pounds, but the amount you use will vary depending on what you can tolerate. And keep in mind it will get more intense towards the end of the stretch. The more you do this stretch, the more weight you will be able to tolerate so add more as you are able. If you can't handle any weight on top of your knee that's OK just start doing the stretch without any weight and work up from there. Hold the stretch for 10 minutes. Then rest for 10 minutes. Then repeat the stretch for 10 more minutes. Do this cycle twice a day until your knee fully straightens. If your opposite knee is healthy use it as a comparison when the two are equal you have reached your goal. Doing this stretch daily, as instructed, can get you your range of motion back in as little as a few days. But everyone is different and it could take several months. However long it takes, don't give up! Be consistent and you'll get your range of motion back If done correctly, this is an uncomfortable stretch but it shouldn't be excruciating. It should be something you can handle doing for the full amount of time twice a day. It's best to have a distraction so put on your favorite show, grab a timer, and get it done! Thanks for watching! Hope you have a great day, and stay strong! http://www.stronglifept.com/

How to Squat with Knee Pain - SQUAT FIX!! (Knee Pain No More!)

06:48
Stop training with pain and start training smarter with the ATHLEAN-X System http://athleanx.com/x/trainwithoutpain The squat is by far one of most foundational leg exercises, but also one of the most often incorrectly performed. If you want to know how to squat without pain, then you need to watch this video and incorporate the two tips for eliminating knee pain while squatting. The squat fix begins by making sure to dig your elbows down into your sides rather than allowing them to freely float out away from the bar. By doing this, you depress the scapula and stabilize them against the ribcage. This acts to tighten up the upper back and add stability to the spine from the top of the kinetic chain downwards! Next, most importantly, when beginning the squat you want to feel as if you are "pulling" youself down into the squat. This acts to engage the psoas and hip flexors. Most often the source of knee pain and discomfort when squatting comes not from the knees but from the hips being misaligned and taking it out on the knees! By activating the psoas you can stabilize the lumbar spine, establish the proper curve in this area and sit back deeper into the squat. By sitting deeper and backwards more you take the anterior pressure off of the knee that you would get by forgetting to do this. Have any type of knee pain at all (whether caused by patellar tendonitis, meniscal tears, etc) and this anterior driven force makes your problems that much greater. If you have knee pain at all, and have stayed away from squatting during your leg workouts then make sure you give this tip a try. You should actually feel the difference in even the next rep you perform. Turn this powerful leg arsenal into one that works for you again with this squat knee pain fix. It's time to see how to squat with knee pain again and overcome it once and for all. ======================================== For a complete program on how to train harder and smarter, make sure you head to http://athleanx.com and get pro sports physical therapist and strength coach Jeff Cavaliere's ATHLEAN-X program.
