How to insert and remove a drop cap in Microsoft Word is illustrated in this video.
Video Transcript: In this video we'll take a look at how to create a Drop Cap in Microsoft Word. And drop caps can be pretty nice as a way to start each chapter and, of course you've seen them before, but let's go ahead and see how to create one ourselves in Word. So the first thing I want to do is make sure the cursor is at the beginning up my first paragraph in my chapter. And I couldn't go to the Insert tab and then go where it says Drop Cap. And, as I click on that arrow this menu opens, and I can select for example Dropped, and notice you see there on your screen that we have the T that's been dropped in the first three lines by default. I can select In margin and that shifts the T as you can see on your screen into the margin. Now notice it still three lines, so that's the default, that it's going to drop the entire three lines. So let's go ahead and select the Dropped option. But then here I look at this letter and I decide let's say I want it to be two lines instead of three. And I'd also like to see some separation between the T and the he in this first line. So I'm going to click to left of that Drop Cap, so the cursor's flashing to the left of T. Go ahead and go back to Drop Cap and then select Drop Cap Options. Under here notice there's Lines to drop I'll go ahead and select 2 there, dial that down one notch, and then Distance from text, let's go ahead and take a look at our first option, which is .1 inch. Click OK. Okay that looks pretty good the T took two lines now, but that looks a little far for me, the T and the he; I'd rather have the he a little closer to the T. So, once again, let's click to the left of our Drop Cap, go back to Drop Cap, select Drop Cap Options, and then here instead of .1, let's go ahead and modify that to .05. Click OK. All right that looks pretty good; I think we'll go with that. So, once again, to insert a drop cap just select the Insert tab, and then Drop Cap, and you can either go with the default options, or you can go to Drop Cap Options for more alternatives. Now if you want to turn the Drop Cap off, then you just want to go ahead and select None under Drop Cap, and as you can see on your screen, that will turn it off. Okay that's it for creating a drop cap in Microsoft Word. Thanks for watching.
