Teaching young minds about math is a sometimes difficult task. The old fashion teaching methods are no longer effective or acceptable.
To teach the youngster math they need interaction and exciting elementary math lesson plans.
When they are involved in the program they will retain their lessons more effectively.
Therefore the quest is how to get the kids involved and excited about learning.
This presents the new teaching methods of student involvement and interaction. The teacher can do many things to get the kids involved.
The fact of knowing the group of students and adjusting the elementary math lesson plans to meet the specific group is the hardest challenge of every teacher, but it can be done with dedication to the students learning.
Teach the kids not only the right answers but also how they reached the correct solution.
This technique is called math manipulatives and creates a higher learning experience for the kids.
Making sense of math solutions will help the kids retain the mathematics and yearn to learn more about the different facets of math.
Place a value on the mathematical practices in addition subtraction multiplication division and fractions.
Make the numbers make sense and keep the kids thirsting for more knowledge. When the math concepts are thoroughly understood by the student they will excel.
Hands-on tools for teaching math are very important. To understand anything in life most people need to grasp the concepts physically.
Reading is not an application that will improve the understanding.
Think back to something you read recently and then try to recall what information was in the article or book.
It is impossible for most people to retain read material. However when you physically touch the material your brain stores the information far easier and longer.
To get the interactive materials that will improve the learning of your students use websites that have the learning materials such as eBay, for the interesting and enthralling plans to reach out to the students on a higher level they will enjoy and look forward to using for their math lessons.

Example problems simplifying binomials that contain "i"
0:15 Problem 1 Multiply 3i times 6+5i
This problem contains a monomial times a binomial and is just a distributive problem.
1:05 This problem is a binomial times a binomial. In order to solve
this type of problem you just foil the problem.
2:30 This problem contains division. The tricky part of division problems is that you cannot leave an "i" in the denominator because "i" is the negative square root of 1.
4:23 This problem is another division problem, The way you handle the "i" in the denominator is by multiplying the fraction by "-i"/"-i"

MASHUP MATH VLOG-EPISODE 01: Making Fraction Kits
Hands-on activities are an awesome way for students to engage in exploratory activities and develop a concrete understanding of difficult math concepts. Fraction kits have been around for a while and many effective math teachers use them to help their students gain a stronger grasp of fractions. This video demonstrates my approach to creating a fraction kit and was designed to serve as a follow-along activity.
Unlike our animated math lessons, this VLOG will walk you through a hands on, real world math activity that explores fractions, equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, number sense, and even as a decimals introduction activity later on. This fun math activity is perfect for homeschool, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, and middle school and even high school as well.
The required materials for such math activities include construction paper, markers, scissors, and a ruler.
Our lessons are perfect for flipped classroom math teachers and students. This lesson is aligned with the common core learning standards for math and the SAT math curriculum as well.

Our Mission: MashUp Math is our creative solution to reviving students' passion and interest for learning mathematics. As young educators, we know that all students learn math differently and that a one-size-fits-all approach is simply ineffective. The idea that the ability to understand mathematics is reserved for a select few did not sit well with us.
In addition to sharing free teacher resources (which are teacher created resources) in the form of teacher worksheets, we share new YouTube math videos every week that help math teachers and students to better understand mathematics and the common core. Our lessons can be aligned with the common core standards for common core math and are immensely popular with flipped learning educators and anyone experimenting with flipped classroom learning.
As educators, we know what it takes to be a super math teacher and that we can’t always do it alone. In addition to our cool math videos, we share articles, blogs, inspirational quotes, teacher math worksheets, and math worksheets. Whether you teach in the flipped classroom, operate in blended education or online blended learning, or are interested in finding cool math online, MashUp Math will have something for you!
Many students think of us as a math tutor online or as their on-demand online tutor. Others trust us for all things related to online math education—coming to use when they find themselves thinking “I don’t understand my homework assignment! and need some homework help!
It is also a part of our mission to make progressive steps in mathematics education. For one, our content is created with the goal of moving students from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. We also aim to meet the unique needs of ESL math students and support math for girls as well.
Many of our users serve as a special education teacher and use our cool videos to support their special education students with special needs. Our free online math lessons are also high adaptable to your homeschool curriculum and should be added to your list of free homeschool resources.
We are also very involved in the edtech world and are very popular with Google Classroom educators, Math Games Classroom Educators, and teachers who support the use of iPad for education!
So if you could use some help with everyday math and are a student with a unique learning style or learning styles—like Visual Auditory Learning! Or if you’re tired of math games and are more interested in an easy-to-follow tutorial, check us out and learn math with us. No matter your school’s standards of learning, our YouTube Math Videos Lessons will work for you!
And if you love STEM and Math Education as much as we do, be sure to visit us at this year’s ISTE 2016 EdTech Conference in Denver, CO on June 26-29th!
It's time to leave those boring lectures and monotone voices behind and enter the new school of learning math :)

Sample lesson from the 3rd Ed of John Saxon's Algebra 1 textbook. The DVD series contains eleven DVD's that teach the concepts of the 120 lessons of the book. The series is taught by an experienced Saxon math teacher with more than twelve years experience teaching Saxon math in a public school. Each math concept in the book is explained in simple terms, enabling the viewer to better understand the matching concept described in the textbook. The series will work on a television, PC or Mac DVD player. NOTE: This sample has been optimized to enable internet viewing. The quality of the audio and video of the actual DVD's contained in the series itself, are of much higher audio and video quality.

The aim of this activity is to solve linear questions in one variable using paper strips.
You will need paper strips and a single square in two colors.
Before we began you will need to know that the sum of a integer and its additive inverse is 0.
A single blue square represent: -1
A single pink square represent: + 1
A blue strip represent: --X
A pink strip represent: +X
Let us take the equation:
x+3 = 3x + 1
Using the strips and singles lets represent this equation.
Arrange the Pink stripes and single pieces like this
To represent:
x+ 3 = 3x+ 1
Let us simplify the equation
The equation :
x+3 = 3x+1, can be simplified to 2= 2x
By removing one strip one single from each side we are there for left with 2 singles and 2 pink strips.
Therefore we are left with 2=2x
By removing 1 single and 1 strip from each side we get x=1 we can also verify by solving the equation
x+3 = 3x+1
x = 1
See more equation and solve them in similar manner in strips and singles.
