Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, Cook until the quinoa has absorbed all of the water, about 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat, cover, and let the quinoa rest for 5 minutes. In a large bowl, combine the chickpeas, cucumber, bell pepper, onion and parsley. Set aside. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, vinegar, garlic and salt. Whisk until blended, then set aside. Once the quinoa is mostly cool, add it to the serving bowl, and drizzle the dressing on top. Toss until the mixture is thoroughly combined. Season with black pepper and salt , to taste. 4 Chickpea And Tuna Salad Recipe 370 calories (1 serving) This chickpea salad bowl is so easy to prepare and makes a delicious and healthy side dish or lunch. As there are only a few simple ingredients. 1/4 cup chickpeas, boiled 1/4 red onion, finely sliced 1 tbsp. parsley, chopped 1/4 cherry tomatoes 1/2 cucumber, sliced 1/2 red bell pepper, chopped 1/2 can tuna 1 tbsp. olive oil 2 tbsp. lemon juice 1 tsp. dijon mustard Salt and pepper to taste 1/4 cup Olives 1/2 carrot INSTRUCTIONS In a very small bowl place the dijon mustard and garlic and lemon juice and whisk until combined. Add the olive oil and mix until all combined, set aside. Place all your other ingredients into a large bowl and mix. Drizzle dressing over, mix until all coated and serve. Hope you guys had a nice holiday! if you did, you probably ate too much..me too! Hopefully these healthy vegan recipes will help you slim down and feel great for new years! Full vegan grocery list below! In this video, I'm showing you everything I ate on a day where I wanted to start fresh, nourish my body in a loving way with healthy, whole, simple, vegan foods and reset my system. This is not a miracle cure for weight loss, but eating this way helps me feel really good and full of energy. When I eat this way consistently my weight is never an issue and I have almost no cravings. It's been a long (wonderful) month of vegan indulgences for me, so I'm excited to eat fresh and start feeling good again! Let me know if you're in the same boat! Let me know in the comments :) Lunch Quinoa Sweet Potato Ground cumin Mixed lettuce + spinach, chopped cucumbers tomatoes red onion olives artichoke hearts sweet + hot peppers (these are from Trader Joe's) avocado lemon tahini salt + pepper Quick Vegan Lentil Soup 1 large carrot 1 large stalk of celery onion garlic clove turmeric cumin thyme rosemary cayenne pepper black pepper soy sauce ( I use like 2-3 tsp) water (about 3/4 of a cup) veggie broth (about 1 cup to 1.5 cups) optional: potatoes and brocoli. Steam potatoes for a few minutes until almost fork tender, then add broccoli. Drain water and return to pan with a tiny bit of coconut oil, salt, and pepper. Sauté until crispy on edges. I actually like doing this sportily because the potatoes get crispy and the broccoli flavor doesn't overpower the soup. I find that when I cook it all together, the whole soup tastes like broccoli. Try it this way if you have time. It can be done while the soup is cooking :) For the soup: Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, simmer for 20 minutes until lentils are soft and veggies are tender. Again, this isn't an exact recipe but I can make one for you if you're interested! What Foods To Eat To Lose Belly Fat? (The Truth)

And most guys are wondering which foods help with reducing belly fat and what does a healthy diet look like. So in this video, I decided to bring all the foods out of the fridge and show you exactly what I eat. Key points: Before I list all the specific foods, it's important to debunk 2 BIG myths when it comes to burning belly fat. Myth #1 - Spot reducing fat. - This is a myth most people still believe. The truth is that we can't specifically target some area on our body and just burn fat from that area. There are no magical foods or supplements that can spot reduce your belly fat. The only thing we can do is systematically reduce the total body fat level of the entire body and eventually the belly fat will go away as well. The reduction of body fat requires a negative energy balance, essentially there's less energy coming in through food than the body needs to maintain all the activities. And in this situation, the body is forced to burn body fat as fuel. For most men the belly fat area will be the last one to go away, the process usually involves getting leaner in the arms, shoulders, calves, face, neck, chest before tapping into the stomach fat. So keep this in mind, it's not possible to "spot reduce" and specifically target belly fat. Myth #2 - If you eat "healthy" or as some people call it "clean" you'll lose body fat, and you don't have to worry about calories. This is entirely false, calories still matter and you it's certainly possible to consume enough calories that your body doesn't need to burn fat. Calories are still the primary determinant of body-weight change. There are no magic foods that will target belly fat or any other fat. Basing your diet primarily on whole healthy unprocessed foods will generally lead to better health (both physical and mental) and also make the process of losing fat easier. However, calories do count. If you want to lose fat, you need to be in a caloric deficit. Even at the extreme level i.e. The Twinkie diet, the person lost weight due to a caloric deficit despite eating only twinkies. And got healthier because lowering body fat. The main things you want to focus on to lose belly fat are: 1 - Negative energy balance combined with an adequate amount of protein on a daily basis 2- Progressive resistance training, meaning you're getting stronger in the gym 3 - Sufficient amount of sleep (7-9 hours) for optimal recovery. 4 - Be consistent with your caloric deficit 5 - Have most of your food come from whole healthy unprocessed sources with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and lean protein. 6 - Stay hydrated and don't fall for detox scams. Your kidney and livers are perfectly capable of getting the job done. As a rule of thumb, you want to base your diet 80% of whole healthy unprocessed foods and then leave that other 20% of calories to come from whatever else foods you want to eat. And Whey/Soy/Pea protein supplements if necessary. Carbohydrates: Oats, Rice, White Potato, Sweet Potato, Tortillas, Beans and different types of bread. Fats: Olive oil (for cooking and dressing if needed), all forms of nuts, avocado and whatever fat comes with protein. Fiber - Not a macronutrient but a critical part of every healthy diet. This is where most people fail, average American consumes only 15g of fiber per day. My favorite sources: Green peas, oats, whole grain bread and all kinds of vegetables (peppers, tomatoes, spinach, broccoli, carrots, green lettuce) It's important to realize that none of these foods have magical properties. They're just foods that I really enjoy and have no problem eating on a regular basis. And for your own diet, you want to focus on the foods you like to eat. Of course, you can copy the foods I eat, there's no copyright for that, but you want to focus on things that are sustainable for you. Post questions you have in the comments below! Keep it clean and stimulated with skin brushing, regular as well as hot and cold showers, and sweating. 4. Walk and swim! Exercise is extremely important in moving your lymphatic system, especially in your lower extremities. Caution: Make sure your kidneys are filtering before vigorous exercise. Herbal Parasite Formula: You will want to spend a month on an herbal parasite formula. It was really born out of my clinical experience, and seeing patients for the past decade plus, and seeing what works, what doesn't, and on labs, and how patients feel. And myself, it also was born out of my own wellness journey. I grew up and my parents were into wellness, so in the 80s and 90s, in rural Pennsylvania, I was the kid drinking weird herbs and botanical tonics, and not the most common things you'll find in the 80s and 90s in Pittsburgh, but that was me. I grew up into wellness, and then in my late teens, I wanted to ... I learned about CAFOs and factory farming, and our food supply, and I did the well-intentioned thing at 18 and 19, and became more plant-based, and a vegan for 10 years. Then my health was declining over that 10 years. I wasn't feeling good. I had digestive issues. I had fatigue. I wasn't doing so well, and I had to come to grips with, "Was I eating optimally for my body?" Then that's also around the time that I found functional medicine. At Southern California University of Health Sciences, I heard of a guy called [inaudible 00:01:56] who you may know. He's one of the kind of forefathers of functional medicine, still speaks for IFM, and that's when I kind of learned, "Hey, look. Was I eating optimally for my biochemistry?" That's when I started shifting to this more ketotarian way of eating, which is why I wrote Ketotarian. It's this plant-centric ketogenic approach, and it's the amalgamation of the best of both worlds, and that's really where Ketotarian was born out of. Dr. Gundry: Okay. That actually brings up a lot of great points, because as you know, I was a professor at Loma Linda University for many years, and I was eating mostly a vegetarian diet, and as you talk about in the book, I take care of a lot of vegetarians and vegans, and I call them pasta, and grain, and bread-atarians. They're not truly what I think you and I would think of as vegetarians. I, myself, now, I call myself a "veg-aquarian," because I eat primarily vegan during the week, and then I eat primarily shellfish or an occasional wild fish on the weekends. It sounds like, as I've read your book, that that's pretty much what you're advocating as well. Why do you think that you had kind of lousy health as a vegan? Let's hear it from your own words. Dr. Will Cole: Yeah. I definitely depended on carbs to varying degrees just to get through the day, calorically and just energy-wise, and that was the selection of food in the grocery that were available to me, and they're normally delicious, too, when you're depending on all the sugar and carbs. Even it was the healthier food option, right? It was the sprouted grains. It was the different varying treats, vegan treats. A lot of it was whole foods, but it came down to legumes and sprouted grains, and lectins, lectins, lectins for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. That worked for a time, and what I kind of see now is certainly I would say it's better than the standard American diet, but just because something's better doesn't make it optimal.

I've got an important Motivational Monday for you today because we are talking Mercury. Not necessarily the mercury in your thermometer, but the mercury that is found in fish. Heart disease is the number one killer in America and because of this, more and more people are turning to fish as a lean protein source for improved cardiovascular function. While this may have some advantages, it can also be harmful to your health if you are eating too much of the wrong fish. Mercury toxicity is on the rise and the main culprit is the over-consumption of contaminated fish. Yet, unless you have a blood test to see if your mercury levels are high, you may not be aware that you could be poisoning yourself. Sure, there are symptoms associated with mercury toxicity such as fogginess in the brain and skin rashes, but these are common symptoms that may or may not be related to mercury. If you eat a lot of fish, have many fillings in your mouth and are demonstrating symptoms that are persistent, then you may want to have your blood check to see if the culprit is mercury. But do not fear~ A healthy adult can chelate mercury out of their system within three months and it is easy to do.
