The LCL Sub is the former Louisville & Nashville Railroad (L&N) "Short Line", originally the Louisville, Cincinnati & Lexington Railroad. On the (default) north camera can be seen the signal at the south end of La Grange siding, at milepost 27.0, and the siding is 8,330 feet in length (the north end of the siding is at milepost 28.8). In regards to that signal and approaching northbound trains, if the train is lined into the siding the signal with have a red-over-lunar (white) aspect, and if it's lined through on the main track the signal with display either a green-over-red or yellow (amber)-over-red aspect. The town gets 20-25+ CSX freight trains daily. It’s a designated quiet zone, but the crew can use the horns at their discretion. The speed limit for trains as they enter the street-running portion is 10 miles per hour (MPH), until the engines have cleared said street-running, at which point they are allowed to increase their speed to 20 MPH. There is no Amtrak service here. The last regularly scheduled passenger train on this line was the L&N's "Pan-American" in 1971. There is an ATCS layout available, but there is no server (data) coverage available, as CSX has transitioned away from radio code line (RCL) for switch-and-signal control, to satellite for switch-and-signal, with cellular/telephony backups. RCL is essential for ATCS data availability. There are 2 cameras available. The default camera faces north, and the other camera faces south. Desktop users can use the suitcase icon at the bottom of the video to toggle between the cams. For other devices, you can access the South cam here: https://youtu.be/8qRj7Hnz8UA When’s the next train? Yeah, we get this a lot. There’s no schedule for freight, but some of our more knowledgeable members will provide real-time information when it’s available. Please refrain from asking. 2013 Run For The Rose (Extended Version)

03:24
http://www.runfortherose.com Dr. Marnie Rose was just 27 and in the first year of her pediatric medical residency at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital when she was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. Despite her diagnosis, she agreed to share all — her cancer journey, personal life and professional duties as a medical resident — with a TV crew from the ABC reality series Houston Medical. The critically acclaimed hospital series followed the lives of doctors, nurses, other health care professionals and patients at Memorial Hermann. Houston Medical aired nationally on the ABC Network for six weeks of summer, 2002. In the show's debut episode, Marnie stunned viewers by pulling off her wig, revealing that she was both a doctor and a patient. Throughout the run of Houston Medical, viewers were awed by her determination to keep working despite her illness, her candor about her disease, and her positive attitude in the face of adversity. "We wanted to honor Marnie's spirit, courage and strength with an event that would benefit two causes that touched her life so personally — brain cancer and children," says Myles Rose, Marnie's twin. "My sister chose to fight cancer with the nation watching. In doing so, she both put a "face" to brain cancer and offered strength and optimism to many who were ill. With the Run for the Rose, we hope to continue Marnie's legacy." Marnie died on August 23, 2002, from complications of her cancer, just five weeks after the show's final episode aired. The first nine years of Run for the Rose have been immensely successful, managing to net an incredible $90,000 the first year, $100,000 the second year, $110,000 the third year, $223,000 the fourth year, $320,000 the fifth year, $400,000 the sixth year, $425,000 the seventh year, $430,000 the eighth year, $455,000 the ninth year, and an amazing $500,000 this tenth anniversary year to benefit brain cancer research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center as well as pediatric initiatives at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital. Since 2003, the Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation has donated more than $3 million to our two hospitals. An idea that was born out of love for a daughter lost to an insidious disease has now taken on a life of its own. The compelling story of this young woman, Dr. Marnie Rose, has inspired those who knew her and loved her and those who have come to love her and know her through the foundation established in her name.

The Rose Offers Breast Reconstruction Awareness

03:37
The Rose Patient Navigators have a tool to better educate women diagnosed with breast cancer regarding their breast reconstruction options. In this short video, Dr. Kendall Roehl, a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeon and the Board of The Rose, carefully explains how reconstruction works. “Breast reconstruction is often the silver lining in a very bad chapter of a woman's life," says Dr. Roehl. "There are options for almost every woman diagnosed with breast cancer and the goal of reconstructive surgery is to make a woman feel whole and feminine again.” The video is made possible through funding from The Plastic Surgery Foundation and supports the annual Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day held each year in October.

The Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation celebrates a decade of funding brain cancer research

01:46
A lot has changed since 2002, when Marnie Rose, M.D., was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 27. For starters, The Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation has contributed more than $2.4 million to immunotherapy research, drug development and five brain cancer clinical trials at MD Anderson. Moreover, for the first time in 50 years, the prognosis is changing for brain cancer patients, due in part to medical advances made possible by the foundation's support. The first Run for the Rose 5K in 2003 included one or two brain cancer survivors. At the 11th annual event in April, almost 80 survivors participated. Marnie lived with the disease for a year and a half. Today, patients are living three times longer than that. Lanie Rose, Marnie's mother, says she wishes Marnie could see all of the promising new developments in the fight against the disease that took her life. "Marnie would be pleased that we've been able to help so many people," Rose says. "We really are following her life's mission, which is to help all patients. Marnie was a pediatrician, so she'd be thrilled, particularly with the ways we've benefited children." Since 2003, Run for the Rose's fundraising efforts have grown from $90,000 and 1,800 participants to approximately $500,000 and 5,000 participants in 2013. "We started with my son's worrying that it would just be the four of us there," Rose recalls. "We're just so grateful to Houston. People turn out for our run in droves, and it's a wonderful feeling to know so many people support us." The Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation has raised more than $3.5 million for MD Anderson and Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital, where Marnie was a resident. This year, the foundation will give $350,000 of the race's net proceeds to support MD Anderson's brain cancer research.

You may also remember earlier this year Miss Washington DC announced she too carried a genetic mutation that increases her chances of getting breast cancer, but you don't have to go too far too find women just like them. "It's a life or death decision, it's not something you ponder over too much," said Nancy Jacobs who had her first stint with breast cancer at age 32. She underwent radiation and later was advised to take the BRCA test. The test checks for mutations in two genes, BRCA1 and BRCA2. Since Jacobs already had breast cancer the test indicated the chances of a re-occurrence. A high score for her meant undergoing a double mastectomy. "Our breasts as women are how we look at ourselves, it's our femininity, it's who we are in a way," She said, "I can remember looking in the mirror the night before it happened and crying." But looking back now Jacobs wishes she could've taken the test sooner and made the decision to remove her breasts earlier. "In my case I went for the less drastic procedure because I was young I wanted to retain my breasts," she said. There is currently no standard criteria for referring anyone for genetic testing, but it's recommended women with a family history of breast and ovarian cancer also take it. The test however costs about $3,000. "In speaking with my gynecology colleagues, they have great difficult grappling with some of the third party insurance carriers to get the test covered," reviews Dr. Franklin Rose. He has performed hundreds if not thousands of reconstructive surgeries on double mastectomy patients. He is helping Jacobs with her reconstructive process, one he says that can have a tremendous effect on how women feel about their bodies post-op. "As it would relate to psychological impact of reconstructive surgery, just body image and self-esteem are so much improved," he said. Jacobs applauds Jolie's decision to tell her story, but she hopes in the near future genetic testing of this kind is more accessible to all women. LAMIK & Rose Foundation "BREAST CANCER"

HOUSTON – Most people celebrate reaching milestones with smiles and applause. For Kim Roxie and Chris Noble, organizers of a night of awareness and fundraising for the nonprofit breast health organization The Rose, it was all about the hair. When the two women reached their goal of a full house at a special presentation of The Ensemble Theatre’s “I Wish You Love” – and thereby guaranteeing at least 200 mammograms for the uninsured – Chris went pink and Kim shaved her head. “Women go through dramatic changes when breast cancer enters their world and we wanted to make a dramatic statement when we knew those much needed mammograms would soon be available,” said Noble, the Director of Corporate and Business Relations at The Rose. “With a net of more than $44,400 from this great night of theater and public support, I was literally tickled pink!”
