7 Foods to Avoid if You Have Spring Allergies
7 Foods to Avoid if You Have Spring Allergies 1. Tomatoes Sadly, these delicious salad staples may be causing you to have allergy reactions (to grass pollens) including a tingly throat, mouth dryness and scratchiness, and itchy or watery eyes, according to the Mother Nature Network. This is because tomatoes, among other fruits and vegetables, may trigger reactions in grass pollen-sensitive individuals. The network explains that in spring (and fall) in particular, your body’s immune system “recognizes and essentially mistakes a plant protein in the food for pollen.” .2. Bananas What has often been referred to as earth’s “perfect food” may not be so perfect if you have weed allergies. The Mother Nature Network also notes that some fruits can adversely affect weed pollen-sensitive people, especially those who suffer from ragweed allergies. Bananas are on the source’s list of fruits and veggies that can trigger an Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). It shouldn’t take long to determine if you have an allergy to a particular fruit. Symptoms should become apparent within a half-hour, noted the site. 3. Yogurt Livestrong.com points out that excess mucus is often a problem that comes with seasonal allergies, and that dairy foods like yogurt can make the problem even worse. The health site notes that yogurt can cause the mucus in your system to thicken, impeding its journey from your body. When mucus, which is meant to clear your body of foreign substances, is slowed, it doesn’t remove allergens from your system as quickly or effectively as it should, adds Livestrong. 4. Mushrooms You night be reading the word “antihistamine” on every box of allergy medication, and are wondering what the heck it actually means. Histamines are produced by your body and are also present in foods, and they can trigger certain allergic responses, especially if you have mold sensitivity. Livestrong.com also points out how mushrooms (themselves a fungus) can promote histamine growth, leading to sneezing fits and general misery. Maybe skip ordering mushrooms on your next pizza, as our suggestion. 5. Beer or Wine Wine and beer have not been spared from the allergy culprit list, either. If you’re already a seasonal allergy sufferer, the New York Times has concluded that alcohol consumption can make your symptoms worse. It notes that beer and wine contain histamines, which are present due to the fermentation process involved with making alcoholic beverages. Wine and beer in particular also contain sulfites, which have also been traced to allergic reactions and asthma, according to the article. 6. Spicy Foods EverydayHealth.com suggests staying away from spicy-hot foods when pollen season is in full swing. The spicy foods encourage an “outpouring of histamine” that combine with histamine from your seasonal allergies for the perfect storm of symptoms. This is not to say that all allergy sufferers must avoid spicy foods, notes the website. You may be able to get away with that extra spicy burrito, for example. However, if you already notice a bit of a sniffle, it’s probably best to ask for the mild versions of your favorite foods for a while. 7. Raw Foods If you were thinking of starting a raw “Paleo” food diet this spring, you may want to reconsider if you’re an allergy sufferer. Several online sources point to uncooked foods as having worse allergy triggers than cooked foods, due to pesticides and other food impurities. This goes for snacks as well. You may not want to just grab an apple and go, unless you thoroughly wash it or make it into something else like applesauce or apple pie that requires heat. The suffering may outweigh any benefits you get from the diet. Cure Allergic Rhinitis, Hay Fever, Nasal Congestion For Good😊With These Simple Home Remedies
Allergic rhinitis is a common condition, affecting an estimated 10 to 20% of the US population. It is a type of allergic reaction that happens when your immune system overreacts to inhaled substances and the body releases chemicals that cause allergy symptoms. Common allergens that can cause allergic rhinitis are tree and grass pollen. Other allergens include dust mites present in bedding, mold spores in the air and pet dander. There are two types of allergic rhinitis –seasonal (known as hay fever) and perennial that occurs year-round. Symptoms include repeated sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose, nasal congestion and watery or swollen eyes. It can also give rise to symptoms like sore throat, dry cough, headaches, fatigue, weakness and dark circles under the eyes. Allergic rhinitis symptoms can affect the quality of life of the sufferers. To reduce symptoms, you can use some natural home remedies that are inexpensive and effective. Here are some home remedies for allergic rhinitis. 1. Saline Water One of the first steps to treat allergic rhinitis is to remove mucus from the nose with the help of a saline nasal wash. 1. Mix 1 teaspoon of salt and a pinch of baking soda in 2 cups of warm distilled water. 2. Using a nasal bulb, snort a small amount of this solution into one nostril. 3. Allow the solution to drain back out through the other nostril or through the mouth. 4. Gently blow your nose to remove excess mucus and solution. 5. Follow this same process with the other nostril. 6. Repeat this remedy a couple of times daily until your condition improves. 2. Steam Inhaling steam on a regular basis will help clear the nasal passages of excess mucus and any irritants. This in turn will help get rid of allergic rhinitis symptoms, such as sneezing, runny nose and sore throat. 1. Pour boiling water in a big bowl. 2. Add 3 or 4 drops of any essential oil of your choice like eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary or tea tree oil. 3. Cover your head with a towel and lean carefully over the bowl. 4. Deeply inhale the steam for 5 to 10 minutes, then blow your nose thoroughly. 5. Repeat several times a day until you recover completely. 3. Ginger Ginger is another useful home remedy for allergic rhinitis. It works as a natural antihistamine and has antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties that help relieve rhinitis symptoms like nasal congestion, runny nose, cough and even headache. • Add 1 tablespoon of grated ginger, a few cloves and a small piece of cinnamon to 1 cup of water. Boil for 5 minutes, strain and add a little honey and lemon juice. Drink this herbal tea up to 3 times daily during the allergy season. • Also, chew small pieces of fresh ginger several times a day as well as include ginger in your cooking. 4. Turmeric To reduce the risk of any kind of allergy, turmeric is a good consideration. It is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent with immune-boosting properties. It can help reduce symptoms of allergic rhinitis like congestion, cough, dry mouth and sneezing. • Prepare a mixture with 6 tablespoons each of turmeric powder and raw honey. Mix well and store it in an air-tight container. Have 1 teaspoon of this mixture 2 times daily during the allergy season. • Alternatively, drink 1 glass of warm turmeric milk daily to keep your immune system strong. • You can also use turmeric in your cooking or take turmeric supplements after consulting a doctor. 5. Garlic Garlic contains quercetin, a natural antihistamine that can be very effective in treating allergic rhinitis. Plus, garlic has antibiotic, antibacterial, antiviral and immune-boosting properties that promote quick recovery. • Chew 2 to 3 raw garlic cloves daily to combat the various symptoms of allergic rhinitis. • Also include garlic powder or raw garlic in your day-to-day cooking • People with a history of allergies can benefit from taking a garlic supplement daily during the allergy season. Corn Allergy | What Is The Corn Allergy Symptoms
Corn Allergy | What Is The Corn Allergy Symptoms. source : http://www.allergyandasthma.net/ What Is The Corn Allergy Symptoms An allergy to corn occurs when your immune system mistakes corn or a corn product for something that’s harmful. In response, it releases antibodies called immunoglobulin E to neutralize the allergen. The next time you were to eat corn, your body would identify it and signal the immune system to release histamine and other chemicals. Allergy symptoms are caused by this reaction. However, this allergy is extremely rare. It often occurs because of cross-contamination with another allergen, such as soy. Trace amounts of soy can trigger a reaction in people who are very sensitive to it. Signs Allergic reactions to a particular food like corn can vary based on the individual. For some people, the reaction may be uncomfortable. For others, the reaction may be more severe and possibly life threatening. Symptoms may appear between minutes or hours and can include: 1. tingling or itchiness in the mouth 2. hives or eczema 3. swelling of lips, tongue, throat, face, or other parts of the body 4. difficulty breathing with wheezing or nasal congestion 5. dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting 6. digestive problems like nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea Severe Allergic Reaction A more severe allergic reaction to corn can result in anaphylaxis, which can be a life-threatening condition. Symptoms include: 1. loss of consciousness 2. a rapid and irregular pulse 3. shock 4. difficulty breathing due to swelling of the throat and air passages It’s important to seek medical help immediately if you’re allergic to corn and you experience any of these signs. Consult Your Doctor source : http://www.allergyandasthma.net/ Make an appointment with your doctor if you suffer any of these symptoms when eating corn or corn products. They’ll take a history of your symptoms, family health, and food allergies to determine if your allergic reaction is caused by corn or something else. Reading Labels in Ingredients Food products generally indicate when corn is included in the ingredients. Steer clear of anything with the words corn (such as corn flour or corn syrup), hominy, masa, or maize listed. Other ingredients that may indicate the presence of corn include: 1. caramel 2. dextrose 3. dextrin 4. fructose 5. malt syrup 6. modified food starch and vinegar Prevention source : http://www.allergyandasthma.net/ There is no way to cure allergies to a food product like corn, but there are ways to reduce the risks of allergic reactions. If you have already suffered a severe allergic reaction to corn in the past, wear a medical bracelet or necklace. This will help others know that you have an allergy to corn. The medical bracelet or necklace is helpful in situations where you have a strong allergic reaction and cannot communicate to others about your condition. Stress Tied to Worse Allergy Symptoms
Stress may trigger allergy symptom flare-ups, causing sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes. Stress can cause several negative effects on the body, causing more symptoms for allergy sufferers. Those with more frequent allergy flares also have a more negative attitude, which can cause flare ups. While alleviating stress won't cure allergies, it may help decrease the episodes of intense symptoms. You may control stress with deep breathing, eating right, getting sufficient sleep and learning how to cope better. However, there is a new treatment for allergy sufferers of Ragweed called Ragwitek, which has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. The once-daily tablet is placed under the tongue, where it dissolves, and contains an extract from ragweed pollen. The treatment begins 12 weeks before the start of ragweed season and continues throughout.

The Cause Of Your Summer Allergies - Giant Ragweed
Summertime is here and for many that means summer allergies, something people always blame on the Goldenrod when in reality it is the Ragweeds. There are two types of Ragweeds in the United States and today we cover the Giant Ragweed. An obnoxious, allergy inducing plant that grows prolifically along the edge of fields and is common in the corn belt of the U.S. This video aims to help you identify it so you can decide whether to let it grow or not, chances are if you have allergies in the summer this is causing it. Growing up to fifteen feet in height and with it's leaves becoming larger than a hand it's easy to see why it's called Giant Ragweed. This plant can have many variations in it's leaf structure and sometimes even it's growing pattern. A member of the Aster family and an Ambrosia species this plant's pollen is what causes the reactions in humans. It supposedly has medicinal uses but we do not talk about any of those, just cautionary information. I thank you for watching this video I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you learned something. Health Check: 'Tis the season for ragweed
Plymouth's French Regional Park is the perfect showcase for Mother Nature's natural landscape. But even the look of a beautiful landscape can be deceiving. "Well this time of year tends to be what we call ragweed allergy season," said Dr. Hemalini Mehta, an allergy specialist with Allergy and Asthma Specialists in Plymouth. "That's the classic fall allergy season." And the classic season brings the classic symptoms: runny nose, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes. Dr. Mehta blames the ragweed found in places like French Regional Park for making plenty of her patients feel miserable. "If it's a dry, windy day, this pollen will blow for miles," she said, pointing toward a patch of ragweed. "So as soon as you step outside, you're going to get exposed." Dr. Mehta says ragweed pollinates around the beginning of August, with the peak pollen counts coming around Labor Day weekend. That's bad news for 25 percent of the population that suffers from fall allergies. "Yes we are seeing more people having these symptoms, but there's lots of options out there," Dr. Mehta said. The first option is attempting to avoid ragweed altogether. However, allergists say avoiding ragweed can be unrealistic. But there are some over-the-counter medications people can buy to prevent and treat symptoms. Specifically, Zyrtec, Claritin and Allegra, because they're non--drowsy, and they only need to be taken once a day. The best advice from Dr. Mehta though is to treat your symptoms before the ragweed season starts. "Make sure you get your medications on board and you're prepared and you start everything you need before the season hits, and that season will go much better for you," she said. The good news, Mehta said, is that ragweed levels will decrease as the temperature cools down, with levels dropping off after the first frost.
