Eat 1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil a Day and THIS Will Happen to Your Thyroid

03:19
Coconut oil has many health benefits that are well-documented. However, one recently discovered benefit is that coconut oil can help treat symptoms of hypothyroidism, or an under-active thyroid. Hypothyroidism occurs when the body’s thyroid gland does not make enough hormones to allow the body to function appropriately. Coconut oil contains a fatty acid called lauric acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties. Coconut oil also contains capric acid, which has antimicrobial and antiviral properties. It is recommended that you use extra virgin coconut oil for the best health benefits. One tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil should be consumed daily. It can be added to hot beverages, such as tea or coffee, and added to daily cooking, drizzled over a salad or added to a smoothie. Today’s video will discuss health issues that coconut oil can help treat. 1. Metabolism When the body’s thyroid is under-active, it can cause the body to feel fatigued and without energy. The fatty acids in coconut oil help the fats in the body convert to energy. This, in turn, boosts the body’s metabolic rate. 2. Weight Loss One of the most major symptoms of an under-active thyroid is unexplained weight gain. The weight is very hard to lose and the thyroid hormones directly slow down the body’s metabolism. The Journal of Nutrition published a study that showed the fatty acids in coconut oil help to keep the body feeling fuller, longer. Thus, assisting the body in shedding excess weight. 3. Constipation When hormones from the thyroid are low, the body’s organs run slower as well, causing the digestive tract and intestines to lag. The fatty acids in coconut oil provide the body with energy and boost organ function. Coconut oil also works as a natural laxative and is effective in fighting constipation. 4. Inflammation An under-active thyroid causes muscle and joint pain, largely from unbalanced hormone levels. Coconut oil can naturally calm any inflammation and relieve any pain. 5. Hair Loss The thyroid can affect the health of your hair and may even cause it to begin to fall out. However, adding coconut oil to your regime will prevent this from occurring and repair hair follicles. 6. Dry Skin The imbalance of hormones caused by an under-active thyroid can cause the body’s skin to become dry and flaky. Coconut oil can be added directly to the affected skin to restore its moisture and healthy skin. Have you experienced an under-active thyroid? Have you tried any of these remedies? Lichen planus - Symptoms & risk factors - Dr. Amee Daxini

01:58
Lichen Planus is though not very well known, many of us suffer from it. Since it's asymptomatic at times, we do not notice it. Lichen Planus starts with purplish violet colored flat topped lessions or bumps which are seen generally around your wrists, forearms, ankles, at times it spreads all over the body. It takes about 2-3 weeks to begin, and then it spreads. The commonest problem with Lichen Planus is itching, many of these lessions are very very itchy and thats why it needs to be treated. Other than that, it's absolutely asymptomatic, it doesn't need any treatment as such. Because it's an auto immune condition. Your body cells are reacting aginst your own skin cells. which is why you see it, and it subsides on its own. In case, it becomes difficult to bear with the itching, the best thing is to certain creams, meet your dermatologist, they generally start one retinoids or corticosteroids which reduce the itching, and sometimes even the spreadability. In case, it spreads too much, especially the oral cavity or the mouth, you need to take certain other precautions, keeping the oral hygiene very good, and using certain creams for the mouth. It's a very basic disease, nothing much to worry about.

Mayo Clinic Minute: Levothyroxine overload?

01:02
The most commonly prescribed drug in the U.S. may also be one of the most overprescribed for older individuals. Up to 15 percent of the senior population receives levothyroxine, a medication used to treat low thyroid hormone levels. However, a study published this spring in the New England Journal of Medicine reported that patients with slightly low, or subclinical, thyroid hormone levels received no benefit from the drug. Mayo Clinic endocrinologist Dr. Juan Brito says, while some people genuinely need the hormone replacement to regulate metabolism and ward off health risks, most people taking it do not. Dr. Brito says each prescription should be accompanied by thorough follow-up care. "What is important is to engage the patient and the doctor, and make sure they have a reason to [take] it and a plan – what to do if symptoms don't get better and what to do if the symptoms do get better." Dennis Douda reports. More health and medical news on the Mayo Clinic News Network http://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/

Treating Hypothyroidism With Synthroid

02:16
Learn How To Cure Hypothyroidism At: http://www.HypothyroidRevolution.org In alternative medicine, there is very little difference in curing hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. This is because the treatment involves assisting the thyroid to heal, in either case. Those with hyperthyroidism should not use iodine, because it could overdrive the thyroid, worsening the condition. Curing thyroid disease requires a long-term commitment for a period of at least a year. Creating this problem took years of self-poisoning, so fixing it is neither quick, nor easy. Hypothyroidism medications are addictive, and the body becomes reliant on them, which is why the mainstream establishment maintains that people must take them forever. Those who have been taking hypothyroidism medications for years must slowly wean themselves from the drugs. Abruptly stopping these medications will result in extreme fatigue, and additional thyroid problems. Treatment Recommendations Eliminate and discard all non-stick cookware Eliminate Soy - Soy suppresses thyroid function, imbalances hormones, and it has been shown to cause goiters (an enlargement of the thyroid gland) in previously healthy individuals, which shows that it disrupts iodine usage. Adhere to an Alkaline Diet - This is extremely helpful when curing any chronic disease. Reference the Body pH and Disease article to guide you. Balance Estrogen Levels (Women) - Excess estrogen slows down the thyroid gland. This means eliminating birth control medications, increasing the fiber in the diet, and avoiding all non-organic meats. Growth hormones in meats lead to imbalanced hormones. Reduce dairy intake, because milk often contains lots of estrogen; primarily because cows are milked frequently during pregnancy. Exercise - Find a physical activity that is fun, and do it often. We believe that exercise could half the cure time in some cases, and curing is not possible without it. Hemp Fiber - This is a broad spectrum supplement and a mild laxative. L-Tyrosine - Tyrosine is a natural amino acid which helps the body produce its own thyroid hormone. This is also known to help with the depression, which usually accompanies hypothyroidism. Most naturopaths recommend that 500 mg. be taken 2-3 times daily. L-Arginine - Arginine is known to stimulate the thyroid and its hormones. It also improves immune function, improves fertility, and alleviates erectile dysfunction. Iodine - The thyroid needs iodine to function properly, and lots of people now suffer from iodine deficiencies. To test yourself, place some iodine (we use 2%) on your stomach. Make a dot the size of a silver dollar (or twice the size of a British 50p). If it disappears within 12 hours, then you are iodine deficient. Keep adding iodine in increasing amounts, until it no longer disappears in a 12-hour period. This works due to the fact that the body absorbs iodine at the rate at which it is needed. Do not use povidone iodine and do not orally consume iodine. This is especially an important precaution for those with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Avoid all sources of fluoride - As already mentioned, fluoride suppresses the thyroid, and is likely to be the leading cause of hypothyroidism. Drink spring water, avoid soft drinks, use fluoride-free toothpaste, use a shower filter, and throw away non-stick cookware. Both coffee and tea naturally contain fluoride, so use iodine to compensate if these drinks are indispensable. Eat a natural diet - To help the body to heal itself, remove burdens on its immune system. This means that all processed foods, artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, white flour, white sugar, table salt, hydrogenated oils, aluminum, high fructose corn syrup, and etcetera should be eliminated from the diet. Organic food is the ideal. Do not trust marketing that reads "All Natural", because this phrase is unregulated, so anyone can use it for anything. Read labels carefully. Chlorophyll - Supplementing with chlorophyll provides essential copper, helps oxygenate the body, builds healthy red blood cells, and it overall assists with skin health. Chlorophyll is a safe method of orally supplementing with copper. Those who are using our Colloidal Copper Lotion are unlikely to need more copper. Zinc and Selenium: Studies indicate that severe zinc or selenium deficiencies can cause decreased thyroid hormone levels. Never take zinc on an empty stomach. Brazil nuts are high in both zinc and selenium. Coconut Oil: Buy organic, cold-pressed, coconut oil from a health food store. Take around 1 teaspoon of it daily. You can also use it to cook with, but be warned that it smokes at low cooking temperatures, so it should only be used for low-heat cooking. Coconut oil speeds the metabolism, encourages production of the thyroid hormone, and kills candida yeast.

How to Check Your Car's Brake Fluid

01:42
Watch more How to Take Care of Your Car videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/405969-How-to-Check-Your-Cars-Brake-Fluid When you need to stop your car in a hurry, your brakes need to be functioning at optimum performance. Check your brake fluid when you perform any routine maintenance on your car. Warning If you have anti-lock brakes, consult your owner’s manual before checking your brake fluid. Some ABS systems require you to pump the brake pedal before opening the brake fluid reservoir. Step 1: Locate the reservoir Look under the hood of your car -- on the driver's side, near the back of the engine -- and find the master cylinder, which holds the brake fluid reservoir. Tip If you can't locate the master cylinder, consult the vehicle's owner's manual. Step 2: Clean the top of the reservoir Clean off the top of the reservoir with a rag before opening it. Even a small amount of dust or dirt in the brake fluid can damage the seals in the master cylinder. Tip Be careful not to let any brake fluid drip onto the car. Brake fluid is corrosive and will damage paint. Step 3: Open the reservoir Unscrew the cap, or release the retaining clamp with a screwdriver if you have an older car model. Step 4: Check the color Check the brake fluid's color. If the color is darker than apple juice or iced tea, have a mechanic replace your brake fluid. Tip Have your brake fluid changed about every 2 years. Step 5: Check the level If the color is OK, look into the reservoir to determine the fluid level. It should come within half an inch of the cap. Add more brake fluid if the level is too low, until the fluid level is at the "full" line, or about 1/4-inch from the cap if there is no visible line. Tip Only use fluid from a newly opened container. Step 6: Replace the cap Replace the master cylinder cap securely. Did You Know? The 4-wheel hydraulic brake system was invented by Malcolm Loughead in 1918.

Does Ketosis Cause Hypothyroidism?

01:40
Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz Take Dr. Berg's Free Keto Mini-Course: http://pxlme.me/-i717vtY or go here: https://www.drberg.com/how-to-do-ketosis Download Keto Essentials https://m.me/drericberg?ref=w2128577 Dr. Berg answers the question, does ketosis cause hypothyroidism. The short answer is no, a low calorie, on the other hand can inhibit thyroid function. But ketosis in itself does not cause a slow thyroid. Hi guys I have another question for you. Does ketosis cause hypothyroidism? No, it doesn’t. It’s not the low carbohydrates that cause a slow thyroid. It is a low calorie diet that will do that because when you start cutting calories, you put a lot of stress in the endocrine system especially because you are not getting enough nutrients. Yes, you are running your body on fat possibly, but you are depriving yourself with nutrients and think about a weak endocrine gland is very sensitive to nutritional deficiencies, it is still not healed and not robust enough. If you are not constantly consuming especially the minerals, because thyroid gland is a situation where you have very slow metabolism that means that the uptake of nutrients is low already because you don’t have the intracellular enzymes to start to metabolize. When you go into a ketosis diet your hunger goes way down and some people just don’t eat very frequently and the problem is that they don’t get the nutrition. If you are going to do this and you have a hypothyroid state just to prevent it, start taking more minerals, sea kelp, iodine, selenium and certain nutritional things and make sure that you are eating enough just the right things. It is nothing about low calorie diet that will destroy the thyroid, it is basically just you are cutting your calories and nutrients too low. Another Thumbs Down for T4-T3 Combination Therapy

PAIN RELIEF IS A PHONE CALL AWAY 201-848-8000 Most Insurance Plans Accepted My name is M. T. Shahab, M.D. We are a team of multidisciplinary doctors who will assess you individually and formulate a diagnostic and specific plan of care to help our patients based on our areas of expertise and discipline. Hundreds of our patients have been helped with our comprehensive approach to address chronic conditions. Among multiple drug free ways to address and help your symptoms, we usually recommend and provide nutritional supplementation which are designed to support overall health, your body function and well-being and not to treat or cure any medical illness, disease, or condition. 8 Reasons Why You Are Still Suffering With Symptoms of Your Thyroid, Chronic Fatigue, Sleep Difficulty, Low Libido, Memory Loss, Anxiety or depressive Condition: Do you wonder why, even though you are on thyroid or other medication, you still suffer with all of the symptoms of your thyroid condition? Or maybe initially you felt better on your thyroid medication until all the symptoms started to come back? Here are eight reasons why you are still suffering… The cause of your thyroid condition could be coming from your gut. Everybody knows about TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) “My doctor says my TSH is too high.” “My doctor said my TSH is too low.” TSH this and TSH that-but are you aware that in order for TSH to be released form the brain you need adequate amounts of two very important neurotransmitters Serotonin and Dopamine? And guess where these are made? The gut! So, bad gut= bad thyroid. The cause of your thyroid problem could be coming from your adrenal glands. These are your stress glands. When they are overtaxed they emit, in high amounts, a hormone called cortisol. High Cortisol is the arch-enemy to your thyroid function. The cause of your thyroid problem is a faulty immune system. The number one reason for under-active thyroid is a condition in which your immune system is mistakenly attacking the gland. This is called Hashimotos thyroiditis. It is estimated that 70-80% of thyroid patients have this but few know it because the doctor doesn’t check for it. Most doctors look at T4 as the main hormone when in actuality T3 is the active form of the hormone! Most doctors don’t even check for T3 on the blood work. Most hormone replacement medications like synthroid and levothyroxine are NOT T3 but are T4 and your doctor is assuming it gets converted to T3 in the body. This isn’t always the case. Estrogen dominance is something that almost all women suffer from for many reasons. When there is not enough progesterone in the body to balance your estrogen, your thyroid will not function properly. Doctors always follow lab ranges. Lab ranges are determined by who has been to the lab in the last year. What kind of people go to labs sick or healthy? Sick for the most part. When your doctor is making a determination on whether you have a problem or not he or she is comparing you to the average sick American. That’s crazy! We use functional ranges in which health exists. This is why so many are told they are OK when they really are not OK.

It is used to decrease the clotting ability of the blood and to help prevent harmful clots from forming in the blood vessels. It is often used to prevent or treat deep venous thrombosis, a condition in which harmful blood clots form in the blood vessels of the legs. These blood clots can travel to the lungs and cause a condition called pulmonary embolism. Warfarin is also used to prevent or treat blood clots that are caused by certain heart conditions or open-heart surgery. It may be used after a heart attack to prevent blood clots from forming. Although it will not dissolve blood clots that have already formed, warfarin may keep the clots from becoming larger and causing more serious problems. This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription. This product is available in the following dosage forms: Tablet NCLEX Nursing Precautions Drug information provided by: Micromedex It is very important that your doctor check your progress at regular visits to see if the medicine is working properly. Also, call your doctor right away if you have a pain in your toes and they look purple or dark in color. These could be signs of a serious medical problem. Check with your doctor right away if you notice any unusual bleeding or bruising; black, tarry stools; blood in the urine or stools; or pinpoint red spots on your skin. Avoid picking your nose. If you need to blow your nose, blow it gently. Be careful when using a regular toothbrush, dental floss, or toothpick. Your medical doctor, dentist, or nurse may recommend other ways to clean your teeth and gums. Check with your medical doctor before having any dental work done. Be careful not to cut yourself when you are using sharp objects, such as a safety razor or fingernail or toenail cutters. Avoid contact sports or other situations where bruising or injury could occur. It is recommended that you carry identification that says you are using warfarin. If you have any questions about what kind of identification to carry, check with your doctor.

Speed Drawing/Painting of Hashimoto's Awareness Ribbon. A little bit about my story: I was very sick for about 5 years and was constantly at the doctor and hospital. It took that long for someone to catch that I had this horrible disease from some blood work and to get the proper treatment. I was immedietly started on Synthroid (of course). I was dianosed July 2, 2011. I still have many problems (and a lot of new ones that have recently popped up) that the doctors are trying to work out. I am currently looking for my 7th Endocrinologist. Trying to take one step at a time. Although all these medicines, doctors and pains make me want to go insane at times! The N Engl J Med image of the week shows a color photo of a person’s lower extremities. We see a scaly erythematous rash with a bilateral distribution. The patient has weight loss and a pancreatic mass on CT. You are offered insulinoma, gastrinoma, glucagonoma, vipoma, and somatostatinoma. Only one of these neuroendocrine tumors is associated with a specific dermatitis. Subclinical thyroid disease during pregnancy may be associated with adverse outcomes, including a lower-than-normal IQ in offspring. It is unknown whether levothyroxine treatment of women who are identified as having subclinical hypothyroidism or hypothyroxinemia during pregnancy improves cognitive function in their children. We review the results of two parallel-randomized trials of these issues. Interleukin-31 may play a role in the pathobiologic mechanism of atopic dermatitis and pruritus. Investigators assessed the efficacy and safety of nemolizumab (CIM331), a humanized antibody against interleukin-31 receptor A, in the treatment of atopic dermatitis. In a phase 2, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 12-week trial, they assigned adults with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis that was inadequately controlled by topical treatments to receive subcutaneous nemolizumab (at a dose of 0.1 mg, 0.5 mg, or 2.0 mg per kilogram of body weight) or placebo every 4 weeks or an exploratory dose of 2.0 mg of nemolizumab per kilogram every 8 weeks. The dermatitis did not improve but there was less itching. Blinatumomab, a bispecific monoclonal antibody construct that enables CD3-positive T cells to recognize and eliminate CD19-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) blasts, was approved for use in patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell precursor ALL on the basis of single-group trials that showed efficacy and manageable toxic effects. We next learn that blinatumomab improves survival in adult ALL patients after relapse. A century ago, James Herrick identified the “peculiar elongated and sickle-shaped red blood cells” associated with the disorder. Herrick subsequently also showed that heart attack is caused by coronary artery occlusion. Hydroxyurea is the only treatment that improves outcomes in sickle-cell anemia, although not all patients respond. A gene therapy is needed. French investigators describe their first patient treated with lentiviral vector–mediated addition of an antisickling β-globin gene into autologous hematopoietic stem cells. Fifteen months after treatment, the level of therapeutic antisickling β-globin remained high (approximately 50% of β-like–globin chains) without recurrence of sickle crises and with correction of the biologic hallmarks of the disease. The N Engl J Med review is on the “informed consent” process. Here we learn that the erstwhile goal of protecting human subjects has largely changed to protect institutions and study sponsors. Thus, only lawyers can understand the pages and pages the patients have to sign. Another review is on patient-advocacy organizations. We learn that these patient rights groups are primarily industry sponsored and their boards of directors are often filled with former industry executives. Is this not a conflict of interests? The N Engl J Med patient of the week has a acute granulomatous liver disease. A transjugular liver-biopsy sample revealed a lymphohistiocytic infiltrate with small lobular and portal nonnecrotizing granulomas. Infection probably began with the inhalation of spores that originate in infected cattle, sheep, and goats. In the Lancet, investigators aimed to investigate whether oral methotrexate increases the efficacy of intra-articular corticosteroid therapy. It did. The efficacy of ceritinib in patients with untreated anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-rearranged non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is not known. We inspect a study of ceritinib that increased survival of these patients (barely P=0.0506). Bronchiolitis is the most common lung infection in infants and treatment focuses on management of respiratory distress and hypoxia. High-flow warm humidified oxygen is increasingly used, but has not been rigorously studied in randomized trials. We learn that oxygen via nasal cannula is just as good. The syndemics model of health focuses on the biosocial complex, which consists of interacting, co-present, or sequential diseases and the social and environmental factors that promote and enhance the negative effects of disease interaction. I had never heard of this word and could not find a German translation. I found out that the neologism “syndemic” refers to the aggregation of two or more diseases in a population in which there is some level of positive biological interaction that exacerbates the negative health effects of any or all of the diseases. We close with a 63-year-old man who presented to the department of dermatology and allergy in January, 2016, with a 32-year history of reddish-brown skin lesions, which had worsened over the preceding year.

Blood Temperature Compliance at 6°C - how do you know it's safe to re-inventory?

01:29
When blood products are issued from the blood bank in a packed cooler and are later returned to the blood bank, how do you know if the blood was maintained at the compliance temperature of 6°C? In this video, you'll see how Safe-T-Vue® 6 from William Laboratories (www.williamlabs.com) can be used to provide easy visual indication if the blood temperature exceeded 6°C. Safe-T-Vue 6 is a temperature-sensitive indicator that easily adheres directly to blood bags during refrigeration and temporary storage. It is used by blood banks and transfusion services to maintain quality control in transport and storage of blood products. Safe-T-Vue 6 changes color from white to red when the blood (or other temperature sensitive products) has reached or exceeded 6°C. Safe-T-Vue 6 can be used to assure compliance with the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) Standards for Blood Banks and Transfusion Services and 21 CFR 600.15(a). Because it is nonreversible, Safe-T-Vue will indicate that an unsafe temperature condition existed, even if the temperature returns to a safe level. As long as the indicator remains white, blood may be safely reissued. Safe-T-Vue 6 can be used for: Refrigerator and Temporary Container Storage (Igloo®-type or larger) RBCs, Whole Blood and Plasma Indication Temperature 6°C Assures Temperature Compliance and Improves Quality Assurance Specifically Indicates Blood Product may be reissued when returned* Promotes Requirements of Accountability during Transport
