House Call: Should I Stop My Statins?

03:20
You've probably heard of Lipitor, Zocor, and Crestor. You may even be taking one of these cholesterol-lowering drugs, which are known as statins. They are the most commonly prescribed medication, and for years, they've been touted as the best way to manage cholesterol. Now top Harvard cardiologists are questioning current cholesterol guidelines. The data to support this claim isn't as solid as we thought, and we are now seeing that statins can cause some serious side effects, such as: • Muscle pain, damage, and aching • Mitochondrial damage • Type 2 diabetes • Neurologic problems such as memory loss • Sexual dysfunction Watch or read this week's House Call with me, Dr. Hyman to learn more about the health risks associated with statins and to find out how you can lower your cholesterol naturally. Learn more about how to take care of your heart in a way that supports your health rather than damages it. Wishing you health and happiness, Mark Hyman, MD

↓ 5 Important & Clinically Proven Reasons You Should NOT Take Statin Drugs

How my parents lowered their cholesterol by 30 pts in 30 days - no diets or drugs. An all natural alternative to statin drugs. ►►►http://drsam.co/yt/NoMoreStatin =============================== 5 Important & Clinically Proven Reasons You Should NOT Take Statin Drugs =============================== Statins are HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors. They work by blocking the enzyme (HMG-CoA reductase) in your liver, that is responsible for making cholesterol. Now, this is very important topic to me personally, because over 15+ years ago my parent’s were prescribed these toxic drugs and they had a ton of negative side-effects. Unfortunately back then, we didn’t have all the data we have now. The pharmaceutical companies did a great job of hiding them. Today I’m going to reveal the top 5, clinically proven reasons, why you should NOT take statin drugs and one of my favorite, natural alternatives that my own parents use. Reason #1 - They DON’T Work! Statin drugs DO lower your cholesterol levels, but don’t think they lower your risk of heart disease, heart attacks or strokes. Based on the statistics of “Relative Risk Reduction (RRR)”, statins reduce the risk for only 1% of the population - that’s it!8 Reason #2 - Increase Your Risk Major Disease, Including Cancer! Statins increase your risk for diabetes. And what’s interesting is that over 50% of people who have heart disease, have elevated glucose and blood sugar levels. So the irony is that the statin drugs will indirectly INCREASE your risk of heart disease by increasing your blood sugar levels. Statins also cause neurodegenerative diseases, such as memory loss, Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s and Parkinson’s. Statins also cause musculoskeletal disorders, leading to muscle pain and weakness (myalgia), muscle cramps and other muscular problems. Statins also cause cataracts, which is a clouding of your eye lens and is a main cause of low vision among the elderly. Finally, statin drugs are known to cause cancer. Reason #3 - Deplete Important Nutrients Statin drugs deplete two very important nutrients in your body. The first is Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). CoQ10 is used for energy production by every cell in your body, and is therefore vital for good health, high energy levels, longevity, and general quality of life. What’s important to know is that your heart is the most energy-demanding organ in your body. By depleting CoQ10, your heart slowly becomes weaker and ages faster. In addition to CoQ10, statin drug also reduce Vitamin K2. This is important for you to know because Vitamin K2 protects your arteries from calcification. Without it, plaque levels worsen. Reason #4 - Liver Problems & Toxicity Of all the negative side-effects associated with statin drugs, the most common was “drug induced liver injury”… This accounts for a whopping 57% of all statin related “adverse drug reactions”, which included potentially severe and some cases, deadly consequences such as: Death from acute liver failure Liver transplantation Jaundice Liver problems are so bad with statin drugs that each year there are millions of people diagnosed “moderate to serious liver dysfunction”! Remember, your liver detoxifies and cleanses your entire body. Poor liver function greatly accelerates aging! Reason #5 - Natural Alternatives Exist You don’t need to take statin drugs because natural alternatives already exist. Nature already has the answers, NOT the pharmaceutical companies. I’m sure you already know this…. Drugs can be used SHORT-TERM, to quickly improve a health problem … TEMPORARILY. But positive, long-term benefits can only be seen and felt using natural means. This way, you have a proven, simple and convenient solution for your high cholesterol, while being so much safer than statin drugs. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg explains what statins are and what the pros and cons are. Find out what the risks are of taking this medication and why it is prescribed in the first place. Among the risks of statins, it blocks the enzymes that produce cholesterol. Why is that important? It's because your body makes cholesterol naturally everyday for vital functioning of your body. Without it, your body will start to break down. It's one thing to lower your cholesterol in your diet so you have the normal levels of cholesterol, but it's completely different to make your body stop producing it altogether. Taking Lipitor? Consider CV inflammation

Even in the MRFIT study and Framingham, over 20 years ago - showed that elevated CRP causes heart attack and stroke. Paul Ridker and Gavin Blake noticed in the WOSCOP trial that the decrease in heart attacks and stroke were higher than you'd expect from the impact on LDL and the minor impact on the size of the plaque. Also, they noticed an improvement in the major available marker for inflammation (at that time) C reactive Protein. So they designed the JUPITER study and published it in the New England Journal. They selected only people with low LDL and high CRP. They had a big decrease in heart attack and stroke. Paul Ridker made the headlines in August 2017 with the topic of inflammation and CV risk. The study was CANTOS, using the major anti inflammatory drug Ilaris. It made a big decrease in not only heart attack and stroke, but even with cancer. Unfortunately, the number of lives saved from prevented heart attacks, strokes and cancer were all given back with increased deaths due to serious infection. That's not surprising; Ilaris is a heavy duty anti inflammatory used to stop inflammation associated with major auto immune diseases. That level of anti inflammation is likely to cripple the body's immune system. In these cases, it resulted in death due to serious infection. 💊 Natural & Clinically Proven Alternatives To Lipitor

Dr. Duane Graveline (M.D., M.P.H) is a physician, a flight surgeon and former astronaut. One year NASA was doing a yearly physical on him. He passed all the tests (physical, cognitive, etc.). Yet, they noticed his cholesterol was in the “high” range and told him to take Lipitor (atorvastatin) - a cholesterol lowering statin drug. Six weeks later, he had severe memory problems, so bad that he had short term, global amnesia (TGA). Additionally, when NASA retested him, his cholesterol was lower and he passed that test … yet he failed the cognitive test and he wasn’t allowed to go to space. Dr. Graveline decided to get off Lipitor, despite the fact other physicians, doctors and pharmacists said it couldn’t be Lipitor causing these problems. A year later, when it was his next annual NASA physical, they again told him to take Lipitor, but this time at half the dosage. So, Dr. Graveline reluctantly followed their recommendation. This second time, the results were even worse - amnesia PLUS “retrograde loss of memory” going back to his high school years. Yes, his memory loss was even more severe. He again stopped taking Lipitor and wrote about this situation in a book called, “Lipitor Thief of Memory” which was written in 2005. Which also includes liver damage, high blood pressure, arthritis, elevated blood sugar levels, diabetes, hormonal imbalances, muscle loss and lowered sex drive and impotence, to name a few. Add to the fact that my dad’s mom (my grandmother) had Alzheimer’s, I didn’t want to risk it and got my dad off of Lipitor … against his doctor’s orders. Instead, I decided to research, natural, safe and healthy ingredients and alternatives for having healthy cholesterol levels. And that’s what I’m going to reveal today. Natural Alternatives So let’s get right to it, I’ll make this quick. First, your goal is NOT to have “low” cholesterol, you want HEALTHY cholesterol levels. Now, one of my favorite natural ingredients to help improve cholesterol levels is called, Red Yeast Rice, which is a common food in Asia. In fact, this is a natural statin. However, the “secret” to using Red Yeast Rice is you only want to use it in small doses. Plus, you must use the “extract” form, not the “root” or “powder” form which is worthless. And finally, you want to make sure that the “toxic” by-product, Citrinin is removed. Any other form either won’t work or you’ll need such a high dose that you’ll have statin side-effects - obviously, no where near as bad as Lipitor. Again, keep in mind that if you ONLY use Red Yeast Rice to improve your cholesterol levels, you’ll need to use a high dosage, which will eventually lead to some of the same, statin side-effects. THIS is the real secret to having healthy cholesterol levels, naturally - without drugs. Other Cholesterol Optimizing Herbs Other clinically proven, natural herbal extracts that promote healthy cholesterol levels and balanced lipid levels, which are: Artichoke Leaf Extract (15% Chlorogenic Acid, 5% Cynarin) Phytosterols Complex (40% extract from non-GMO pine tree extract) Garlic (Extract 5% alliin) Policosanol (from Sugar Cane - Saccharum species) Improve Your Thyroid Cleanse Your Liver Did you know that 80% of the cholesterol in your body is made by your liver, and NOT from the foods you eat? This is why many times, the change in your diet doesn’t make dramatic improvements in cholesterol levels. The irony is that ALL drugs, especially statins, cause liver damage and thus, will eventually increase your cholesterol levels and this is why you keep having to increase the dosage of these drugs. So make sure you try to eliminate anything that stresses your liver - this includes all drugs, including alcohol and caffeine. But, since this is almost impossible for most people, I suggest you take Milk Thistle (80% Extract) NAC (N-Acetyl L-Cysteine) - which also boost your immune system. R+ Alpha Lipoic Acid (r+ ALA) - which also helps lower your blood sugar. Reduce Homocysteine Levels ======================================== Subscribe to Dr.Sam Robbins's official Youtube channel http://drsam.co/yt/subscribe Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/DrSamRobbins ========================================= Thanks DrSamRobbins

Stopping Statins: Pt1 - Is it Safe After a Stroke? Ford Brewer

15:47
The study showing safety in stopping statins was on stable patients. The study showing danger in stopping statins was on patients post strokes. Here are the other 2 videos in my series on STOPPING STATINS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnqOTNCLmnI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prQkwf6uCvQ Plaque instability is systemic; there is no such thing as one vulnerable plaque. The VULNERABLE PLAQUE THEORY is rapidly dying. Therefore the patients in the post-stroke study selected for patients with an arterial tree full on unstable plaque. The study showing safety selected for patients with stable plaques. Plaque instability appears to be a cyclical phenomenon, with cycles taking many months. So I would love to see a 2 year follow-up on the study showing safety in stopping plaques. I bet it would show regression to the mean. Lipitor

Reducing cholesterol levels with Lipitor or its generic version atorvastatin may reduce risk of atherosclerosis or fatty deposition in the vessel walls. The new theory is to simply take the pill based on initial cholesterol levels and not pay too much attention to the final level. Some even more recent ideas question cholesterol as a major precipitant of cardiovascular disease.

Statins and Cholesterol

08:17
Statins are one of the most highly prescribed and commercially successful drugs in modern society, due to their ability to decrease LDL-cholesterol and lower the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Learn more about the history, mechanism, and side effects of statins in this episode of Medicurio. Other lipoprotein particles: You may have heard of LDL cholesterol as "bad" cholesterol because it clogs up the blood vessels with plaque. Its counterpart, HDL or "good" cholesterol does the opposite - HDL particles move throughout the bloodstream and pick up any cholesterol it finds and brings it back to the liver. Often times, plaque formation is dependent on both how much LDL and how little HDL there is in the blood. CoQ10 and Statins - CoQ10 To The Rescue

04:48
CoQ10 and Statins: You should not take statins without CoQ10. Smart people have established this. Link to Ultra Accel ll for mitochondrial biogenesis and statin protection: https://bit.ly/2bxIboB As we age, our bodies make less CoQ10. CoQ10 is vital to life. Not only should you consider taking CoQ10 as an adult, but especially so if you take statins such as Crestor, Lipitor etc. Statins compete with and displace CoQ10 from enzyme sites. There are many additional benefits to supplementing with CoQ10. Some benefits include resistance to fatique, improved mental clarity, cardiovascular energy augmentation and much more. Dr. Al Sears M.D. noted anti-aging clinician and spokesman, has a special supplement combining the recommended natural form of CoQ10 with PQQ & the Immortality Vine into Ultra Accel ll. The latter 2 components boost cellular energy and help create NEW mitochondria in the case of PQQ. If you or someone you know takes statins, they should supplement the statins with CoQ10. That is a requirement in Japan and the trend is growing in the U.S. Click the link in the description. Statins Mechanism Of Action *Animated*

03:47
STATINS ARE A GROUP OF MEDICATIONS THAT REDUCE CHOLESTEROL LEVELS, THEY WERE DISCOVERED BY AKIRA ENDO IN 1971 A JAPANESE BIOCHEMIST. THERE ARE SEVERAL STATINS IN THE MARKET CURRENTLY WHICH ARE EASY TO REMEMBER BECAUSE THEY ALL END WITH THE SUFFIX STATIN. CHOLESTEROL IS PRODUCED BY THE LIVER AND TRANSPORTED BY LIPOPROTEINS WHICH CONSIST OF TWO TYPES, LOW DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN LDL WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE BAD FAT, IT'S MAIN FUNCTION IS TO TRANSPORT CHOLESTEROL THROUGHOUT THE BODY, THE OTHER TYPE IS HIGH DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN ALSO KNOWN AS GOOD FAT, THIS TYPE OF LIPOPROTEIN REMOVES EXCESS CHOLESTEROL AND CARRIES IT BACK TO THE LIVER FOR DEGRADATION. HOW DOES IT WORK? STATINS WORK BY COMPETITIVELY INHIBIT HMG COENZYME A REDUCTASE THIS ENZYME CATALYZES THE REDUCTION OF HMG COENZYME TO MEVALONATE. WHICH IS THE RATE LIMITING STEP IN HEPATIC CHOLESTEROL BIOSYNTHESIS, INHIBITION OF THIS ENZYME DECREASES CHOLESTEROL SYNTHESIS LEADING TO AN UPREGULATION IN LDL RECEPTORS IN THE LIVER, THIS INCREASES LDL UPTAKE BY THE HEPATOCYTS DECREASING THE AMOUNT OF LDL CHOLESTEROL IN THE BLOOD. WHO SHOULD STATINS BE GIVEN FOR? ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF CARDIOLOGY, STATINS ARE GIVEN AS A PREVENTION OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE IN PATIENTS WITH LDL CHOLESTEROL MORE THAN 190 MG/DL. ON AVERAGE STATINS CAN LOWER BLOOD LDL BY 70 MG/DL WHICH TRANSLATES INTO AN ESTIMATED 60% DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF CARDIAC EVENTS LIKE HEART ATTACKS OR SUDDEN CARDIAC DEATHS. CONTRAINDICATIONS OF STATINS, BEING DRUGS THAT ARE METABOLISED AND EXCRETED BY THE LIVER, STATINS ARE CONTRAINDICATED IN CASES OF CHRONIC LIVER DISEASE, OR ELEVATION OF SERUM TRANSAMINASES. STATINS ARE ALSO NOT GIVEN IN PREGNANCY OR LACTATION AS THEY IN CATEGORY X. LIFESTYLE MODIFICATION IS STRONGLY ADVISED TO PATIENTS ON STATINS THESE MODIFICATIONS INCLUDE, LESS CALORIC INTAKE, LOW ANIMAL FAT DIET, AND PHYSICAL EXCERCISE. MONITORING CREATINE KINASE IS IMPORTANT IN PATIENTS TAKING STATIN AS MYOPATHY IS ONE OF THE MOST COMMON AND DANGEROUS ADVERSE EFFECT OF THIS CLASS OF MEDICATIONS

Dr. Duane Graveline (M.D., M.P.H) is a doctor, a flight specialist and previous space traveler. One year NASA was completing a yearly physical on him. He breezed through every one of the tests (physical, intellectual, and so forth.). However, they saw his cholesterol was in the "high" range and instructed him to take Lipitor (atorvastatin) - a cholesterol bringing down statin tranquilize. A month and a half later, he had serious memory issues, so terrible that he had here and now, worldwide amnesia (TGA). Moreover, when NASA retested him, his cholesterol was lower and he breezed through that test … yet he fizzled the psychological test and he wasn't permitted to go to space. Dr. Graveline chose to get off Lipitor, in spite of the reality different doctors, specialists and drug specialists said it couldn't be Lipitor causing these issues. After a year, when it was his next yearly NASA physical, they again instructed him to take Lipitor, however this time at a large portion of the dose. Along these lines, Dr. Graveline reluctantly took after their suggestion. This second time, the outcomes were far and away more terrible - amnesia PLUS "retrograde loss of memory" returning to his secondary school years. Indeed, his memory misfortune was significantly more extreme. He again quit taking Lipitor and expounded on this circumstance in a book called, "Lipitor Thief of Memory" which was composed in 2005. Which likewise incorporates liver harm, hypertension, joint pain, raised glucose levels, diabetes, hormonal lopsided characteristics, muscle misfortune and brought down sex drive and barrenness, to give some examples. Add to the way that my father's mother (my grandma) had Alzheimer's, I would not like to hazard it and got my father off of Lipitor … against his specialist's requests. Rather, I chose to inquire about, characteristic, protected and solid fixings and options for having sound cholesterol levels. Furthermore, that is what I will uncover today. Normal Alternatives So how about we get appropriate to it, I'll make this fast. In the first place, your objective isn't to have "low" cholesterol, you need HEALTHY cholesterol levels. Presently, one of my most loved characteristic fixings to help enhance cholesterol levels is called, Red Yeast Rice, which is a typical sustenance in Asia. Truth be told, this is a characteristic statin. In any case, the "mystery" to utilizing Red Yeast Rice is you just need to utilize it in little measurements. Besides, you should utilize the "concentrate" shape, not the "root" or "powder" frame which is useless. Lastly, you need to ensure that the "poisonous" result, Citrinin is evacuated. Some other frame either won't work or you'll need such a high measurements, to the point that you'll have statin symptoms - clearly, no where close as awful as Lipitor. Once more, remember that on the off chance that you ONLY utilize Red Yeast Rice to enhance your cholesterol levels, you'll have to utilize a high measurement, which will in the long run prompt a portion of the same, statin symptoms. THIS is the genuine mystery to having solid cholesterol levels, normally - without drugs. Other Cholesterol Optimizing Herbs Other clinically demonstrated, normal home grown concentrates that advance sound cholesterol levels and adjusted lipid levels, which are: Artichoke Leaf Extract (15% Chlorogenic Acid, 5% Cynarin) Phytosterols Complex (40% concentrate from non-GMO pine tree separate) Garlic (Extract 5% alliin) Policosanol (from Sugar Cane - Saccharum species) Enhance Your Thyroid Rinse Your Liver Did you realize that 80% of the cholesterol in your body is made by your liver, and NOT from the sustenances you eat? This is the reason ordinarily, the adjustment in your eating routine doesn't make sensational enhancements in cholesterol levels. The incongruity is that ALL medications, particularly statins, cause liver harm and in this way, will in the end increment your cholesterol levels and this is the reason you continue increasing the measurements of these medications. Drain Thistle (80% Extract) NAC (N-Acetyl L-Cysteine) - which additionally help your safe framework. R+ Alpha Lipoic Acid (r+ ALA) - which additionally helps bring down your glucose. Diminish Homo cysteine Levels

The Dangers of Statins (Cholesterol lowering statin drugs Side Effects LDL cholesterol Myth CoQ10)

18:07
Statins (cholesterol-lowering medication) are heavily promoted, used by millions of people and one of the most widely prescribed drugs in the world. Health authorities claim statins reduce the risk of heart disease and strokes because they lower 'bad' LDL cholesterol. Yet these claims are contradicted by statistics and medical studies. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/07/20/the-truth-about-statin-drugs-revealed.aspx http://next-level-nutrition.com/?p=6075 http://naturalnews.com/032448_statin_drugs_scam.html http://www.ravnskov.nu/cholesterol.htm#a The hypothesis is that 'bad' LDL cholesterol clogs up arteries leading to heart attacks and strokes. However, medical research has shown that: 1. People with high cholesterol tend to live longer. 2. People with heart disease tend to have low levels of cholesterol. 3. Lowering cholesterol in a population does not reduce the rate of heart disease. 4. Statins increase(!) the risk of heart disease and strokes. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2005/05/28/cholesterol-heart.aspx http://drbenkim.com/articles-cholesterol.html http://drmalcolmkendrick.org/the-great-cholesterol-con http://cholesterolconspiracy.blogspot.com http://amazon.com/The-Great-Cholesterol-Myth-Disease/dp/1592335217 Statin drugs have become a huge global industry, generating more than $29 billion each year. Cholesterol, Statins, The Truth Revealed! Part 1 - MUST SEE!

http://www.TrypnauralMeditation.com/blog for more free articles, tips and cutting edge health advice. Pharmacist and Natural Health Consultant Niraj Naik MPharm attempts to give cholesterol, a substance found in every human being, a fair trial, as it has for many years been accused of causing heart disease. This is a talk held for the Yoga Teachers, Traditional Yoga Association, UK 2011 After many years of research during his work as a pharmacist he felt there was something not quite right with the hypothesis that high cholesterol and saturated fat leads to heart disease. Due to the enormous number of side effects his patients were suffering from after using the blockbuster heart drugs, statins, he was further motivated to seek alternatives to help them. His work uncovers the ugly truth that the perhaps the current cholesterol hypothesis is a blatant lie, with the truth about what really causes heart disease being hidden from the public for the benefit of corporate profit. Part 1: Niraj shows the evidence from both sides, so you can make an informed decision on whether or not cholesterol is to blame for the cause of heart disease. Part 2: Niraj explains the new and probably more likely hypothesis for what really causes heart disease. Unfortunately it is more complex than the culprit being a single molecule, allowing a drug to be designed to alter its function or levels in the blood. Instead a more holistic and natural treatment is necessary for the prevention of heart disease, and some options are revealed that are completely drug and side effect free with compelling evidence to support that backs them. Side Effects Of Cholesterol Medicine

03:10
Hi! I'm robo-Suzie and today I'll talk to you about Side Effects Of Cholesterol Medicine. Also don't forget to subscribe for more tips in the future! But back to our topic. Any prescription medication can have side effects. Most of these are not pleasant. The reasoning of why we put up with these side effects is that it is better to deal with them than the condition which the medication treats - in this case, elevated cholesterol levels. Such drugs work to lower cholesterol which, in turn, reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. There are two popular classes of drugs used to treat high cholesterol. They are specifically aimed at lowering LDL cholesterol. One is the group known as statins and the others are bile acid sequestrants. The most well known of the latter group is Niacin (nicotinic acid) which comes in both prescription form and as a dietary supplement. Popular statin brands are Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor, and Pravachol. Both classes of cholesterol medicine can have troublesome side effects. Higher doses of statins may be associated with a greater risk of side effects such that side effects tend to be dose-related and may disappear after reducing the dosage or, if necessary, withdrawing the medication. However, even if side effects are experienced, cholesterol medication should not normally be discontinued without consulting a physician. But speak to your doctor immediately. Do not wait for your next visit. Side Effects Of Cholesetrol Lowering Drugs include: Constipation. Nausea. Loss of appetite. Pain in the upper right part of the stomach. Fever. Flu-like symptoms. Hoarseness. Extreme tiredness. Lack of energy. Rash, hives or itching. Muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness. Yellowing of the skin or eyes. Unusual bleeding or bruising. Difficulty breathing or swallowing. Swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles or lower legs. Lowering Cholesterol Medication Should Not Be Taken In Isolation. In addition to taking a cholesterol-lowering medication, making certain changes in your daily lifestyle can also lower your cholesterol blood levels. Eating a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol with little to no grains and sugars and exercising for 30 minutes on most, if not all days, will make a big difference. As will losing weight if you are overweight. Eliminating sugar and grains will inevitably cause beneficial side effects, such as normalizing your weight, increasing your energy and lowering your blood pressure and triglycerides. Lifestyle changes will work in the majority of cases of high cholesterol so why not try those first and give yourself the chance to avoid the cholesterol medicine side effects. Your physician will be able to advise you on this. That's it! Thank you. Please subscribe, comment and like this video if it was helpful! See you soon!
