The 'arbitrary' year 1 is symbolically the year of Jesus of Nazareth's birth. Whatever you think of this reason that we call it year 1, there is still a reason: that Jesus was born then, and so it cannot be called arbitrary. It's a matter of historical importance at the least, even without choosing between Old Style or New Style calendars.
I see future in a different way, if we manage to venture out to the stars we will change the universe, literaly, like we changed earth, our sun may not die at all, because we will have the knowlege to keep it stable, if we manage do succed humanity will start a program for all the stars in the universe, also for that many ears, earth will grow up in size, there will be more terain, and more people. We may create fake plamets, and create stars artificially.
Of course, if we don't manage to kill ourselves before that.
So if we were to somehow destroy our planet and only bacteria can survive, there won’t be enough time for intelligent life to evolve, because it took quite a while for multi celled organisms to take place. So basically, we only have one shot and if we mess it up with war or nuclear bombs there’s no way life on earth can become intelligent again because the sun will blow up. Dang.
But can The universe die? Isn't one of the funtimental laws of physics that energy can never be detroy nor created. But then again another one is that for ever action there is an equal and opposite reaction. I might just be high but I think it's worth a thought. WHISKEY TEAM!!!!!
Depends on what you define as death for the universe. The first law of thermodynamics states what you said, but there is a second part to it. Energy can be transferred or changed into a different form. This is where entropy comes into play. Suppose you toss a piece of wood into a fire. What happens to the energy in that wood once it is used up by the fire? Can you gather up the ashes and smoke, and turn them back into a piece of wood? Can you _reverse_ entropy? No. Entropy will increase. That's another fundamental law, the second one in fact. Usable energy will change into unusable energy, until entropy has reached a theoretical maximum.
Now, the universe is still around, but everything is cold and dark, like a corpse buried in the ground. There's stuff still floating around, but you can't use it to make _work_ any more than you can use ashes and smoke to keep a campfire going. This is the theoretical heat death of the universe.
Tbh I don't think everything will be dead forever, I mean new stars will always be born because gravity exists and stuff like that, so correct me if I'm wrong but if stars die they shoot out alot of their mass(supernova) and that can form a new planet or star if combined with other supernovae right?
renge9909 good point. Although I don't think that eventually all stars will die because gravity will pull other planets toward each other and making bigger planets and/or stars. I do think that theory is a good one aswell. But who knows what will happen in 100 billion years??
We don't know enough to say one way or another, how or if the universe will end. As far as star creation goes, it looks like a series of diminishing returns. The universe was a lot more active and making more and more massive stars earlier in its life. So star formation is possibly slowing down, and the newer stars become more modest in mass. This probably goes in line with the second law of thermodynamics, in that entropy must always increase. We go from a state of more usable to more unusable energy. More fuel is spent than created.
Okay. After watching this channel for a week I feel completely different beeing. I can't even say that I'm human because I don't know what defines a human. Am I alive? What is alive and what is words? I've been living with these questions and I can't rest anymore. Please help
So what the fuck.. new stars cant be born? Maybe thats what happened before the big bang, universe died of some heat death and became nothing for some period of time until a big bang resets it all. Cycle continues!
Why do you fail to mention a massive entropy decrease due to a random quantum fluctuation? This effect is pretty unlikely, but over 10^(10^54) years, such a fluctuation should coalesce at exactly one location in space in one instantaneous moment such that a new universe (big bang) is created via a nearly 'infinite entropy drop' thereby resetting entropy to 0.
This may have already happened a billion billion times. Imagine that; our universe has experienced its own heat death billions of times, each time lasting for an eternity for all practical purposes, and yet it still comes back via spontaneous entropy drop.
I just have to add that, concluding that NOW is the most important time does not mean that LATER is less important. They seem to miss this, time is linear, so it gets larger (and more important) in the future.. So, do not go all out for a cute girl, because a cuter one is coming up. Ask her out, but don't go full bore. You see?
its funny how the entire video is about how much time has went by, and by the vast amounts the time in the future.....and ends with that time is precious …...seems to me that it me that time is cheap.....lots of time
Community pharmacists are the health professionals most accessible to the public. They supply medicines in accordance with a prescription or, when legally permitted, sell them without a prescription. In addition to ensuring an accurate supply of appropriate products, their professional activities also cover counselling of patients at the time of dispensing of prescription and non-prescription drugs, drug information to health professionals, patients and the general public, and participation in health-promotion programmes. They maintain links with other health professionals in primary health care.
