Michael Greger M.D. Takes Audience Questions on Plant Based Diets

Оценок: 2074 | Просмотров: 91732
• Michael Greger, MD, discusses the scientific literature on preventing the most common causes of death through a plant-based diet. Dr. Greger has scoured the world's scholarly literature on clinical nutrition and developed this new presentation based on the latest in cutting-edge research exploring the role diet may play in preventing, arresting, and even reversing some of our leading causes of death and disability. Death in America is largely a food born illness. Focusing on studies published in peer-reviewed scientific medical journals, Michael Greger, M.D., offers practical advice on how best to feed ourselves and our families to prevent, treat, and even reverse many of the top 15 killers in the United States. Dr. Michael Greger is one of America's leading experts on nutrition - someone who's been a big influence on people looking to lead healthy lives. Dr. Michael Greger is a licensed Medical Doctor in general practice specializing in clinical nutrition - and a founding member and fellow at the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. He's also the Director of Public Health and Animal Agriculture at the Humane Society of the United States, and the founder of the Nutrition Facts dot org blog. Dr. Greger is also the author of a number of bestselling books - including his latest "How Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse Disease. From the physician behind the wildly popular website NutritionFacts.org, Dr Greger reveals the groundbreaking scientific evidence behind the only diet that can prevent and reverse many of the causes of disease-related death. The vast majority of premature deaths can be prevented through simple changes in diet and lifestyle. In How Not to Die, Dr. Michael Greger, the internationally-renowned nutrition expert, physician, and founder of NutritionFacts.org, examines the fifteen top causes of premature death in America-heart disease, various cancers, diabetes, Parkinson's, high blood pressure, and more-and explains how nutritional and lifestyle interventions can sometimes trump prescription pills and other pharmaceutical and surgical approaches, freeing us to live healthier lives. The simple truth is that most doctors are good at treating acute illnesses but bad at preventing chronic disease. The fifteen leading causes of death claim the lives of 1.6 million Americans annually. This doesn't have to be the case. By following Dr. Greger's advice, all of it backed up by strong scientific evidence, you will learn which foods to eat and which lifestyle changes to make to live longer. History of prostate cancer in your family? Put down that glass of milk and add flaxseed to your diet whenever you can. Have high blood pressure? Hibiscus tea can work better than a leading hypertensive drug-and without the side effects. Worried about heart disease (the number 1 killer in the United States)? Switch to a whole-food, plant-based diet, which has been repeatedly shown not just to prevent the disease but often stop it in its tracks. I’ve long been well known in the diet in addition to fitness industry for more than a decade and in that time I’ve created a exceptional trustworthiness which I’m enormously proud of. What I’m trying to say is that, they spent the better portion of a year revising and assessing the 3 week weight-reduction plan before they eventually made it accessible to the public. in so doing, they made sure that everything was covered knowing that certainly nothing was ignored. https://truehealthreport.com/the-2-week-diet-review-legit/

Firstly a vegan diet will greatly extend your *healthy* lifespan and you will not be nearly as susceptible, in many ways immune to the things that kill you slowly and steadily making the last 40 years of your life progressively more painful and creaky. Or you could take a look at the vegan doctors mowing their lawn at 100. Patients reversing heart disease and athro scrolosis. You could also realise that it is not extreme to be have a moral code and follow it too, like playing the role of omnipotent and caring gods to the animals we share the earth with as we should rather than being callous and cruel and disgusting. You could realise its morally unjustified and environmentally harmful to continue with your "moderate" diet. Veganism isn't an extreme, its just that from being already at the extreme with eating animals makes the centre, rational point seem insane.

I have a question. Why are at least 95 percent of allergies to plants and plant products (corn, peanuts, strawberries, wheat, beans, tomatoes, soy, etc etc,) while only a tiny percentage of people are truly allergic to any kind of meat? That seems odd for a body made to be vegetarian.

The original diet, before the fall of mankind: Genesis 1:29-31 NLT — Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground—everything that has life.” And that is what happened. Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.

Vegan or keto it all depends on the individual.....it may be perfect for one but debilitating for another .... for me I was having high blood sugar levels and nothing worked until I went on a keto diet which kept my blood sugar levels within the healthy range.... I also found that combining protein and carbs would spike insulin levels much higher than eating carbs or proteins alone. I salute vegans because they are contributing to cruelty free eating that protect all our beloved animals on earth.. God bless all of you

We aren't living 3000 years ago! You think that if they had an abundance of food they'd even look at the already decaying bird and still think to eat it? No! They'd most likely bury it or burn it...giving it's soul back to the great spirits. Animals only became food when other food sources weren't available, during winter, or famine. Animals were consumed out of necessity, I'm not starving or trying to survive ... Plenty of food to eat that isn't a sentient being.

At the 11:00 mark the gentleman is siting Finland and the reduction of disease by 90 percent by switching to organic soil. He is saying if the soil is contaminated it’s a health danger to eat the fruit and vegetables. Earlier this year there was a big study testing vegan protein powders and top brands tested high in cadmium, arsenic and lead. I don’t think the answer is to stuff your face with as many fruits and vegetables as possible if they are coming out of contaminated soil. I am vegan and this is a big concern to me and I think anyone who is eating a lot of fruit and vegetables. They might be organic but if they have lead and arsenic it’s not going to be good to load up on them. This is what he is bringing up at the 11 minute mark. In addition in another video you say to have tap water with a Brita filter. Tap water in New York where I am is so high in contaminants I don’t think this is the best answer. Any future videos on these subjects would be appreciated. Thank you and I appreciate the rest of the info in this video and your other videos. The study link is below for the protein powders: https://www.cleanlabelproject.org/protein-powder/

You get as much protein in 1 kg of broccoli as in 100 g of beef steak (with roughly the same caloric intake): 28.2 g protein/1 kg raw broccoli (340 kcal/kg raw broccoli) ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods/show/11090 28.57 g protein/100 g beef steak (321 kcal/100 g beef steak) ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods/show/45216860 In terms of protein intake, eating 1 kg of broccoli is comparable to making a broth with that beef steak diluting 1 part of steak in 9 parts of water and drinking 1 L of the resulting broth.
Ed MacLane (4 месяца назад)
I think he did, but I had to listen to his answer a carefully a few times. It's a kind of spread out answer. 1:30 He explains the body keeps count of what you eat by calories. Plants have so few calories that you can't eat enough. So even if Romaine lettuce was 100% protein, you would have to eat a wheel barrow full to get enough protein. 2:30 Are you getting enough protein? He suggest eating beans, peas, legumes, lentils. 3:52 he says the 98% water is when measured by weight. He doesn't specify, but perhaps it means that what's left without the water would be 17% protein (which he explains at 4:36). 4:36 he says the water, kind of, doesn't really count because your body will get rid of the water it doesn't need and keep the nutrients it needs. So, is the woman getting enough protein from just eating Romaine lettuce? No. Why? Not enough protein calories. Is the Romaine 98% water? Yes if it is hydrated. In the body, it doesn't matter because the body will get rid of the water while keeping the nutrients. Not including the water, what is Romaine made up of, how much is protein? 17% protein. I think what this all means, if I understood Dr. Greger correctly, is you would need to know how many calories of the nutrient is in the plant to know how much you need to eat of that plant. The percentage of the plant isn't useful in knowing how much to eat...you need to know the calories of the given nutrient in the plant. You can use calories or grams. (According to USDA website: Carbohydrate is 4 calories per gram, Protein is 4 calories per gram, Fat is 9 calories per gram.) Let's say you want to eat 50 grams of protein a day. And let's say 1 cup of shredded Romaine lettuce has 0.6 grams of protein. That means you would have to eat 83.3 cups of Romaine lettuce. But if you eat Kidney beans, they have about 15.35 grams of protein in 1 cup. So it would only take eating 3.3 cups of Kidney beans to get 50 grams of protein.

He did respond - by saying the 98% water is by weight, and the 17% protein is by calorie density. So they're not by the same unit of measurement, like saying a hypothetical chair is 95% wood and also 100% american made - it can be both

I really hope that first woman didn't think it was okay to get her protein from romaine lettuce ha. 98% water. 2% solids. Of those solids there's a high amount of protein but because it's a high amount of a tiny solid, it's nothing

Yeah, I hear you... A lot of things can make someone age a bit faster. Personally, I think you need a wide variety of plant foods, exercise, sleep, and low stress, plus no drugs/no smoking/no alcohol, etc. But concerns about high quality fish/eggs are overblown, as are concerns about high quality poultry and meat, to a certain extent. Eggs and fish are good for you, poultry and meat are "ok" in moderation, and most dairy is not so good. You age a lot more via high stress, no exercise, eating fast food every day/soda/sweets, and of course, smoking/drinking, and ESP. drugs... And, oh yeah, you don't need all that creatine/high protein bodybuilding crap... Bodybuilders age faster-having THAT much muscle isn't normal/natural...

The plant based doctors have been on both sides of the fence. Unfortunately, there is little value nor virtue to be found in including animal based products in your diet, as all of us have been on both sides of the fence learn through experience. To that end, there is little substance to the other side of the argument worth including. I presume the title of the channel comes from the fact that this angle debunks the most deeply entrenched beliefs in our society related to food, and uses available science to support this. The science on the other side of the argument generally does not produce beneficial health results, or does not offer unbiased research.

Cstank5 (4 месяца назад)

Theoctopus Thoughts (8 месяцев назад)
Elision, ahh ok, that makes sense, thank you for taking the time to help a stranger out, with what should have been basic school knowledge!
Elision (8 месяцев назад)
@Theoctopus Thoughts — it's the difference between measuring by weight or measuring by calories. By weight, Romaine lettuce is mostly water. But a lot of people measure foods by calculating whether the calories of a food are coming in as fats, proteins, and/or carbs. So, for Romaine, 17% of the calories you get are protein, with most of the rest being carbs. So both stats are accurate but are measuring different things. In short, ~0.34% of a leaf of Romaine lettuce is protein (17% of 2%). Which is why people shouldn't try to get their protein from lettuce, which is why Greger told everyone (but really to tell her) to eat more beans.
Anna Abrante (9 месяцев назад)
He has trouble answering the protein in romaine question and in fact ignored it here because it's such a small amount. It's 98% water and of what's left it's 17% protein. That's TINY. But if he tells you that it negates that romaine is "high in protein." It's not. Stick to beans for protein. You'll starve if you use leaves for it.
Swiss Lady Driver (11 дней назад)
Yeah, he told her to eat big mixing bowls full of leaves. Ridiculous.

If you can follow them coherently, it's probably because you think like that too, lol

People are seriously worried about side-effects for no reason. The only difference between a vegan diet and an omnivore's is that the vegan has to supplement with B-12 and get a moderate intake of iodine. Other than that, you get everything you need through beans, potatoes, legumes, leafy greens, etc.
TwoSnakes OneSword (3 месяца назад)
+X YZ never heard this. B12 is a must, the others are recommendations for certain groups or if you need to based on blood work. Algae was only recommended to me when I was pregnant, nursing, and to use for my kids until age 5(after they were weaned). Vit d is recommended to most people because most don't get enough sun. Zinc? Never heard to supplement this but to include zinc rich foods like pumpkin seeds. Calcium? That's a new one, plenty of calcium in plant foods. Which plant based Drs are recommending all these supplements??
X YZ (9 месяцев назад)
Alexander Jeans... No. They now recommend... B12, Zinc, omega 3 algae, D3, iodine, and possibly calcium and iron. And many seem stuck on protein powders. Every year or few they add another one in.
X YZ (9 месяцев назад)
Pinky Mabinkie... Salt is not generally iodised in Europe. This is why we need individualised health info. I find most vegan info is aimed at young, overweight people who are otherwise healthy. I'm none of those. So a lot of their advice turned out to be awful for me. *One size fits all? Possibly the biggest lie ever told*
Winky Pinky (9 месяцев назад)
Alexander Jeans meat eaters are supplementing with b12 as well, they just don’t know it. The livestock is fed b12 supplement. Most people, vegan or not, would not get enough iodine if it weren’t for iodized salt. That’s why they add potassium iodide to salt

That guy is right about MSM(organic sulfur) we all need to supplement due to depleted soils. I think Greger is flawed on that part saying only 15% reduction in nutrients. Russian scientists did multiple studies including one that caught my eye on apples a while back showing 1 apple 50 - 100+ years ago was as nutritious as eating 5 - 10 apples today. Remember.. American science is controlled and can be easily manipulated by big pharma. You just don't understand how rich and powerful they are.
Robin Hood (8 месяцев назад)

X YZ (9 месяцев назад)
Zobrut... Yes *big pharma is the most powerful industry in the world* . They have a vested interest in anything that forces us to take more of their products. And this now includes supplements. They've been buying up supp companies for years now. They know the future. Things that lead to increased supp use would include: long term drug use, poor soil fertility, processed food, factory farmed animal products, non organic produce, and let's be frank (for most people) long term vegan diets too. Veganism only addresses one of these factors. So it can easily be sacrificed by big pharma. My local health food store owners only told me when I left veganism that long term vegans are their biggest customers and they laugh at them as their health fails until they leave veganism and almost stop shopping with them. I've 10 years to 4 decades experience of all these things. It's worrying how many vegans are being sucked in. When you become vegan you think you've had your eyes opened to everything. But that's only the first level. Go deeper. Talk to ex vegans.

Ok, that makes a lot more sense.
Winky Pinky (9 месяцев назад)
According to Wikipedia, 100 grams of broccoli contains 2.8 grams of protein. Obviously, this makes it 2.8% protein by mass. If we look at calories, 100 grams of broccoli is worth 34 calories. Protein is worth 4 calories per gram. So, if we multiply 2.8g by 4 cal/g, we get 11.2 calories. (11.2 cal/34 cal) x 100 gives us 32.9% protein by calories. So both of her numbers were incorrect.
Winky Pinky (9 месяцев назад)
Mario Josipović well broccoli is clearly not 98% water by mass. Who knows where she got that from. A more realistic figure is 90% water by mass. Even watermelon is not 98% water by mass, and it probably has one of the highest water contents of all fruits.
Mario Josipović (9 месяцев назад)
makes no sense, broccoli is 2.8 g of protein per 100g. If broccoli is 98% water then it means out of 100g only 2 is left of actual broccoli, then from that you get 2.8g of protein..... explain please
Winky Pinky (9 месяцев назад)
Mario Josipović he did answer it. 17% of the calories in broccoli are derived from protein. The 98% water figure is by mass or possibly volume. In other words, 17 out of every 100 calories are from protein. Not 17 out of every 100 grams are protein or 17 out of every 100 cubic cm are protein. Stating a percentage without also stating what that percentage is based on is meaningless. Whether the percentage is by mass, volume, or whatever else must be denoted for it to mean anything.

I enjoy Dr Greger but that first question was a one sentence answer that he never gave. He. sometimes, gets so excited that he forgets to answer the question as he does a complete mind dump. 98% water by weight and 17% protein means 17% of the calories in romaine comes from protein. Still love ya' Greger, but get to the point....

"BTW, according to multiple sources, lettuce has 28% of its Calories from protein." And according to other sources, romaine comes in at 17.4%, iceberg 15.7%, red leaf lettuce 32.5%, bibb lettuce 25.2% really depends on the lettuce variety. It appears that Greger was likely thinking about romaine which makes sense since romaine is one of the good lettuces that he talks about in some of the nutritionfacts videos.

X YZ of course there are more ex vegans than vegans. Lots of people fail...But that is largely down to convenience and willpower. 2/3 of people fail on any diet. I live in a really good place for vegans (Glastonbury, UK), yet it can be hard to grab something quick to eat, when in a rush. However my health has just got better and better on a vegan diet.
Barry Brisley (9 месяцев назад)
The 98% water comment was interesting..Protein is not measured by percentage it's measured by grams. So it's like comparing oranges to apples(yes that is a joke) so even though it is 98% water it still contains grams of protein. "One cup of chopped broccoli has 2.57 grams of protein. This means by eating that amount men get 5 percent of their recommended daily intake of 56 grams, while women get 6 percent of the 46 grams of protein they should consume daily. The best part about getting protein from broccoli is that you also get fiber and nutrients, but no fat and few calories." from http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/much-protein-broccoli-6613.html. Here's a chart that shows the makeup of fruits http://www.thefruitpages.com/contents.shtml

Barry Brisley 17% of the calories are from protein. Not 17% of the volume or 17% of the mass.
Amber Keumurian (9 месяцев назад)
I did not hear Dr. Greger answer the first question; the reason it is possible for a food like romaine lettuce to be >90% water but still be 17% protein is that the former figure is in reference to its total composition, but the latter is strictly in reference to its caloric content. Water has no calories, so it is irrelevant to the food's caloric content. We just look at the macronutrients in regard to calories: carbohydrate, protein, and fat. So romaine lettuce, calorically, is 68.1% carbohydrate, 17.4% protein, and 14.5% fat.
Thorsten Böhme (3 месяца назад)
+TheKetsa That really depends on the cut of meat. Lean chicken breast has like 21% protein (and 79% water respectively), whereas some fatty pork belly f.e. is like around 50% fat, 10% protein and 40% water.
TheKetsa (6 месяцев назад)
Amber Keumurian meat is also min 80%+ water
Elision (8 месяцев назад)
In his defence, that's just a more specific version of Greger's answer. The first thing he does after her question is to explain how vegans get confused by 'caloric density' and he uses the brocolli/steak example to explain the difference between measuring food by weight or by calories.

Sorry to be clear, when I said that I don't understand how she doesn't get it I didn't mean I don't know why she asked the question, I just meant that I thought the answer would be obvious :-) where the percentage of protein is the percentage of the actual romaine minus it's water content.
domingo shevez (9 месяцев назад)
C McD I noticed that. But what she was struggling with was; if you take an object as a whole that object is 100%. If it was made up of 2 components ie, water & protein, how can it be 90% of one and 90% of the other as that would make the whole item more than 100% which numerically doesn't add up.

FabFour Fever.... Many vegan souces of nutrients are only found in unusable form. They must be converted to usable form by your body. E. G beta carotene to retinol, ALA to DHA. If you cannot do this, or do so only inefficiently, you'll do badly no matter how "well planned" your vegan diet is. DNA testing is now revealing that some people have genes that code for poor conversion. Different people, different genes.

This isn't a fad diet to me, it's a lifestyle and something I do for the animals and for my health. Maybe that was the difference? Anyway, good luck whatever you do. xx

The doctor missed the boat on the first question, where do you get your protein. He missed the chance to tell the women to start eating beans every single day or you won't get enough protein to keep your bones healthy. It isn't simply total protein which might be adequate but not getting enough of all 9 essential amino acids that is the problem. If you're getting 60 grams of total protein which is more than adequate but only getting 50% of the RDA for Lysine your body will only be able to use 30 grams of that protein to rebuilt muscle and organs. The rest will be used as simple energy. The question her doctor should have asked is where are you getting your Lysine?
X YZ (9 месяцев назад)
Brian Merkosky... Blue zones interest me too. I looked into it a bit but so many confounding factors. Good communities, slow pace of life, lots of exercise, elderly supported and respected. Lastly, I expect they have /had low rates of poor digestion, and auto immune disease. I have both. I've found that many who do badly as long term vegans also have one or both conditions. I guess we need to extrapolate what is useful and potentially applicable to us, and leave the rest? If that inlcudes beans for you, hey, you can have my ration of black beans 😊. And take the pintos too while you're at it! I'm out, sorry. Trips to hospital and ever worsening digestion plus neuro auto immune and much more forced me to step outside the hole vegan/non vegan dichotomy.
X YZ (9 месяцев назад)
Brian Merkosky... Good point regarding getting too much. But most of us seem to be struggling with too little of various nutrients these days. Esp those of us with poor digestion. Which seems to be most of the western world now. 😲 Also which form of vitamin A? The devil is in the details. Never have I found that to be more true than in nutrition.
X YZ (9 месяцев назад)
Colin Murphy... I was wholefoods vegan. The type with 4 different kinds of seaweed i my cupboard. And freshly made hemp seed milk to boot. So I was likely getting plenty of nutrition. The problem was that all that fibre and lack of glycine messed up my digestion. And I was already sick so needed extra nutrients, not less. *It's not what you eat, it's what you absorb* (Currently applying for a nutrient rebate from my water supplier. It's obvious how much I've lost down to them down the loo over the years 🤣).
X YZ (9 месяцев назад)
Colin Murphy... My glucometer tells me that my body cannot now handle carbs well. It's known as metabolic disease. A key feature is excess fat carried amount the abdomen. I developed this despite being only just heavy enough. If you go out into the street you'll see almost every one has this in the west these days. I suspect it's not just carbs though. Also xenosestrogens from plastics, stress, and more. I developed prediabetes and trigs as a 4yr wholefoods vegan. My neuro auto immune, digestive and mental health also got much worse, much faster. What do most auto immune, neuro and diabetes patients say helped them the most? Low carb, sat fat, and zero legumes, nuts, seeds and grains. Although of course there will always be outliers. So at the end of the day, I say, try it out for yourself. My biggest clue was worsening digestion and mental health. But I was so taken in by the desire to do well for the animals that I wound up sacrificing myself. I notice that other sick vegans think nothing of multiple supplements, and drugs. Nor hospital treatments. That's A ok. Are they really so animal or earth friendly? Have you seen the amount to waste hospitals produce? Animal testing? Dividing ourselves up into warring camps helps the industries though. While we fight it out here, they carry on destroying the earth in myriad ways. Veganism is a useful distraction I guess.
X YZ (9 месяцев назад)
Colin Murphy... I was on two tablespoons of flax seed oil per day as a 4yr wholefoods vegan. Still wound up omega 3 deficient. Just a few days of 4X recc dose of cod liver oil gave very good results. It was either that or end my life. That's how bad it had got. My skin was also so dry it hurt to move my hands. I had to sit for hours every day with them caked in coconut oil and wrapped in cloth. For a long time I couldn't explain this. Vegan media never told me that plant based omegas are unusable unless you can convert them well. Nor that people with gut problems often struggle. Or that older males also tend to have difficulty. Their focus is almost entirely on recruiting more young healthy females, esp the overweight ones. This is recruitment not compassion or health. I then had a genetic test which among other things threw up: 1-reduced ability to convert plant based omega 3 2-tendency to low vitamin D (coupled with high risk for skin cancer. <glycine protects against this and is very low in vegan diet and also in modern meat eaters due to their failure to eat the most nutrient dense parts of the animal and focus on processed crap) 3-rare disorder that leads to low phosphates. Much easier to get phosphates as a non vegan. Now I know why I had omega 3, vitamin D and phosphate deficiency symptoms as a vegan. Low vitamin D and phosphates were picked due by testing. I actually wound up on an iv drip of phosphates in hospital. Did they ask me what diet I was on? No. 😲 Vegans are never in hospital? We most certainly are. But no one even records it. There were no vegans option on the meals planner either. My family had to bring me in food. The wrong food of course. But none of us knew that then. With all due respect, you appear to be talking from theory alone and not experience?

Richard Dixon... Veganism only reduces cancer risk by 15%. Many older vegans have neuro diseases. Mine got worse as a 4yr wholefoods vegan. (And this was before I looked into it. So I certainly wasn't expecting it. Quite the opposite). Epilepsy and brain cancer may be treated with ketogenic diet. Not saying it's ideal for everyone of course not. But there does seem to be a connection between carbs and neuro, just as there is a connection between fat and heart disease.

X YZ you can get your iron checked easliy... mine was fine last time i checked. My girl friend is vegan as well and hers was a bit high to our suprise...it was only like 30 bucks to add it on to the normal blood test. omegas... well, there is testing for that was well... but if your concerned just take a preformed algea omega supplement, afordable and redibility available. Im not saying im an expert, theres always room for new studies and research. Omegas are still a pretty young study topic, with much debate. Im reading a book called the longevity diet by valter longo... in it he describes in detail the longest lived populations. Their diet consists of mostly plants and a small amount of fish. Maybe that is the ideal balance in a perfect world.
X YZ (9 месяцев назад)
Jo Woo... But how do you know you've got problems converting plant omega 3? Or low iron levels? I eventually found out after many years through paying for a blood test and then dna. But can most people afford or access this? No. The Vegan media never even warned us about these things until recently. For decades they didn't even know about B12. Now it's B12, D3, Zinc, iodine, algae, and possibly iron and calcium. Where will it end? As for farm animals being supped, agreed, but what's the cause? Overclean produce soaked in chlorinated water I guess. And also mineral deficient soils. Plus poor living conditions. Wrong food too. *Which is exactly what all of us humans are suffering from too* So, is the solution veganism? Not to my mind. Nor will expensive pastured meat and dairy save us because not enough can afford it. Vegans and non vegans needs to work together on this. But currently we are all doing a grand job of dividing ourselves into warring parties, while soil fertility further declines and food production is falling into the hands of mega corps. And supplements Co. are being bought up by big pharma. *United we stand, divided we fall*
