As the world recovers from one humanitarian peace bombing in Libya, and braces for another possible intervention in Syria, many are now asking how it is that the so-called liberal left have become cheerleaders for the very wars of aggression they once pretended to deride. As long-time investigate reporter Pepe Escobar explains, an obscure international doctrine called Responsibility To Protect or R2P has been the main tool for shaping this new paradigm for the continuation of NATO's imperial power grabs around the world.
Find out more about the history of this doctrine in this week's GRTV Feature Interview with our special guest Pepe Escobar.
You're right, but it's a little surprising how narrow your view is, for what you say applies on a much broard scale. Are you racist or what, against the other peoples similarly affected because of the crimes of the "West", would you find it acceptable if you knew that the same sort of thing has been going on against indigenous peoples worldwide for a much longer time and continues, what about the Congolese, South Americans, and plenty of others? Do you have something against them?
yes R2P...or right to plunder...is the latest fraud used to get round peoples objections to invading another country...its absurd but notsurprising for now US controlled UN or R2P groups to give the task of saving civilian lives to a war machine like NATO that has been kllling men women and children in afghanistan. The R2P people if you write to them willl avoid the issue of NATO slaugther of civilians as in Zliten.R2P persons are as cold and callous as the NATO robots
Palestinian Arabs have lived on the land for many generations, long before nation states even existed.
Do you think it was right to bring Jews from Europe to live there? Do you know that Jews were expelled from Palestine by the Romans in the 1st century A.D.?
Do you think the Jews of Eastern Europe ever had any connection to the Middle East? They did not!
They are Khazars, converted to Judaism in the 12th Century, and have no connection to Palestine, and therefore do not belong there now.
@jamphellhamo Yes, extremely little remains, today, of Palestine.
And not only that, I did some Web searches a couple of weeks ago to find the country of Palestine in maps. None of the maps that I found online show Palestine as a country, but they show Israel, and this is downright sick. Of course Palestine is a country; a very disappearing one. As Pepe Escobar says, what's being done to the Palestinians is a "slow genocide", ie, not happening all at once. It's slow, painful and evil as hell.
@artsychic2000 God doesn't allow "evil people to accomplish his work", for it isn't His work and isn't something He desires. It's only a reality that He knows that sick people will create, have created, and will continue to create. God is about real Justice and Peace, and it's what Yeshua of Nazareth taught. If you believe otherwise, then Christian you definitely aren't.
Otherwise, God would be psychopath; if He was as you claim!
Excelllent interview; depressing, very, but still an excellent and important interview.
Pepe Escobar has to be among the very best analytical journalists and, therefore, jounalists this world currently has.
israel only exists because the world allowed the jews to steal this land from the palestinians, numbnut - israel has continually encroached more and more into the palestinian land - maybe you need to study the history there, especially from the 1970s to present day
