I cannot believe thatpeople are defending this statement.there are people dying and are frankly not gonna give a fuck about patents, when they particularly know that the drug works. fuck that.

Isn't Bayer the company that manufactured Zyclon B for the nazis and had war criminals in it's executive and  R&D ranks?

You come into this world with nothing~ and you leave this world with nothing- such comments ~ to me~ and what do I know~ are bad Karma.  Yikes.....I loathe this type of corporate mentality.  Comments like that disgust me.

only the rich deserve to survive cancer, because theve earned it.

The comment was not racist, Matt. "Indian" is a nationality, not a race. I know you don't really have any other talking points, but it is not possible for something that does not mention a race to be racist.

so many american die cuz they can't afford these drugs. we are happy we can get access to same drug different name. same effect from india 97% discount man, thanks india. we share same interest when it comes to terrorism fight in own soil cuz of other countries and these capitalist trying to get rich from sadness of other ppl. hats off indians.
zzasdfwas (4 года назад)
It's not racist, because Bayer only cares about money, not race. Note the exact quote Dekkers used. "...who can afford it". It's not about race, it's about who can afford it. Even if you are a westerner, and you can't afford it, it's not for you.

And Republicans still praise Capitalism as the best way for the maximum amount of people to become rich, then become greedy, inhumane fucks like this.

Better crooks like Bayer CEO lick some rich people's back for more money as these type of crooks doesn't care about people's health instead they run after money and play with lives.

Cunt.

The best you can do to pronounce the 'ij' in the CEO's first name is to use the letter 'I' (eye). So it will become like this "Mar-EIN".

As much as I want to be neutral, it is totally true that Indians (at least from Montreal) mostly (85+%) prefer not to take the drugs if they are not free (or if not covered by public healthcare). They do not seem to care about their health, but somehow, abuse the system very much by consulting doctors very frequently (because it's free). I understand not everyone is rich, but to see parents that don't want to spend 10$ for a drug for their sick child, it is a very poor decision. Because the majority of these people act like this (compared to other ethnic origins), I start to accept this fact by thinking it's part of their culture/tradition. Must I remind you, socialist people if you ever are, that pharm company is a company and any company's goal is to make money (so stop complaining about that). And for your lack of knowledge, companies invested infinite x the amount of money your head can think of so drugs that appear on the market. At the end of the day, they deserve to make the drugs profitable. You must be out of your mind to think pharm companies should give drugs free to everyone. It's like asking a doctor to treat people free, and never get any kind of salary.

spoken like a true racist.

Thanks for providing a relevant source for this quote. Instead of seeing a video or transcript where this guy actually said it himself I get to watch a video of a "correspondent" telling me what someone else has said. Sounds good and super factual to me.
aameen johal (4 года назад)
he quoted Bloomberg Businessweek. its a published interview. what do you want? a photo of the damn magazine page? or interviews can only be done via released video nowadays?
MrsPoodle78 (4 года назад)
Well when your evil deeds aren't challenged or you live in a country where money is held to be more precious than human life like the US, then why not be openly greedy. There is no repercusion.
Randall Smith (4 года назад)
Better to go out and actually say it than lie, hide behind some bogus reasoning and trick people into thinking you actually want to help. This isn't new information, every big pharma company does this to maximize their profits for all of their drugs no matter the external costs to people and society. Rather than shoot the messenger, lets try and fix the actual problem.
zzasdfwas (4 года назад)
The CEO of Bayer is not a messenger.
AriesJ16 (4 года назад)
he looks like what the CEO of a drug company would look like… freaky.
James Fraser (4 года назад)
Well, you developed it for western patients who can afford it, but what would be wrong with offering it for less in poorer nations. You likely weren't selling that many, and it'll help a tonne of people out, and it might even be more profitable, so i'd go with it.
Deez Nuts (4 года назад)
+James Fraser Honestly I think their biggest concern is that if 1st world countries see 3rd world societies getting the same medicines for practically nothing, they will question the whole for-profit system...Or at least do what I suggest which is find a better balance with shorter periods of exclusive use (so cheap generics can come on the market sooner), and stricter regulatory power over pricing to prevent clear price gouging on essential products. We already have exclusive rights limits to strike a balance, I just think right now it is a shitty balance :)
James Fraser (4 года назад)
+Deez Nuts And if they were less restrictive about it and made the products affordable in the third world, it would be very good for PR and advertising. Frankly, I struggle to see why they wouldn't. It just seems to harm the business.
Deez Nuts (4 года назад)
That's actually very true. The overwhelming majority of the cost for pharmaceutical companies is R&D...Once a medicine is already developed, the cost to produce it is negligible. And giving away medicine to poor people in third world countries in no way diminishes demand for their products in 1st world countries where they earn their profit...So the truth is, these companies don't want to be charitable because they don't think it is worth the insignificant boost to their costs of production, not because they are worried this will somehow diminish their revenues...

Congratulations ultra capitalism. Not a day goes by where my stomach is not turned as a result of your comments.
AgtDaleChomsky (4 года назад)
don't worry. I'm sure bayer has a treatment for that turned stomach...provided, of course, that you make more than $100,000/year and do not live in india.

even if they managed to keep quiet my stomach will still be turned

Indian: Oh my bad, I'll just sit in the corner and die quietly then. Rich people honestly expect everyone will do this, which is why they'll continue to exploit us until we can take it no more.

Unmitigated greed.....when the opportunity to ease human suffering and save human lives is an insufficient motivator.

Bozo Clown (4 года назад)
+Bri O Rule of law whether on a local, state or international level depends on legitimacy - that the law is beneficial both sides and force, coercive mechanisms. When the law causes people to suffer, especially needlessly,  then the law loses that legitimacy. Then only force remains - look at the previous century to figure out how that went. There is nothing preventing this prick from licensing   his drug to the Indian government (for example). He would still make a tidy profit. If not, and I was the Indian Government, I would copy it and fuck him. My people will not suffer because of a greedy white male parasite.. Which leads to counterfeiting, resulting in even less profit.
Brian B (4 года назад)
+Bozo Clown tell me the point then
Bozo Clown (4 года назад)
+Kaycee K True enough.
Bozo Clown (4 года назад)
+Bri O You missed the the point, which is typical.
