end of the day we all die , its just another business , a multibillion dollar industry , which is corrupt to the core , with fear mongers , bribery ,over prescribing , all these doctors are corrupt pen pushers , no one love the patient but their pockets , just load them with medicines

Can someone here please explain why they don't sell Isopropyl alcohol in UK pharmacies? They only have that dreadful Surgical Spirit with that messy castor oil in it. is there some sort of obscure regulation I'm not aware of?

shouldn't pharmacists be called doctors as well? i'm becoming a pharmacist/doctor and  I want to  know if our work in the hospital is important or does it just stand for someone who give the patients medicine because the doctors are busy to do that thing ? I mean the video sounds to me like the people in it are trying so hard to convince us that the work in the hospital is as important as the other doctors while it's not that much ... I want to know if our job is important in the hospital or is it just someone giving pills !

SJHALO If you want to be a doctor, go and become a doctor. Don’t become a pharmacist then expect to be referred to as a medic. Doctors are specialists in diagnosing and treating disease – pharmacists aren’t. The training is not the same. It’s also clinically negligent to call yourself Dr here in the UK unless you’re a medical doctor as it’s seen as deceptive to patients. It can also confuse other members of the healthcare team.

A patient walks into a pharmacy and asks for medical advice. The lead pharmacist, who demands that everyone in the office refer to him as Dr. Smith, otherwise he will not respond, is called to the front by the staff. As the patient asks his question, the Dr. Smith states that he is not able to help the patient with any diagnoses or medical advice as he is not a doctor. The patient then replies, “well they just called you Dr. Smith didn’t they?” The office staff laughs and giggles and Dr. Smith has to explain why he isn’t a doctor to the confused and infuriated patient.

bighead69 In the U.S. it now takes a minimum of 6 years of training for what is called 0 to 6 programs you can enter right out of high school. Most Pharmacy programs are 4+4 programs. That is four years of undergrad and four years of pharmacy school. My sister did a 3 year accelerated PharmD program, meaning that her breaks were only a week off at most. So I guess you could call her program a 4+3 program. My sister was a bit non traditional though. She actually received a M.S. in chemistry and l decided to make a career change to pharmacy. However, Physicians have mandatory residencies . So the profession of physician requires post graduate training in order to practice. Pharmacists do not need residencies, but they are becoming desirable for certain positions.

bighands69 UK isnt the whole world. In canada, usa, australia, and many countries, its pharmD meaning doctor of pharmacy, they are doctors but not medical doctors
bighands69 (8 месяцев назад)
They are not doctors in the UK. They have an MPharm which means a master of Pharmacy. It takes 5 years training.
