Sex education varies widely between school districts, leaving many teens without comprehensive information. We made a video that covers what some schools are too embarrassed to teach.

City kids tend to think of country kids as being simple. Really? Try explaining sexual intercourse to someone who has had to assist a lambing ewe! They'll describe things that will give you Nightmares! Still the best teen birth control is being an acne plagued bundle of stuttering awkwardness.
Dude "the ambiguity in consent" part is not just ambiguous to people who didn't get sex education. Even our learned judges have a hard time deciding such cases of sexual assault where women have been accused of giving supposed signs of consent. I think "ambiguous consent" part is going to stay no matter what coz no guy would ever ask for consent explicitly and record the same to submit as a proof if a assault case is made out of the said sexual encounter. The same thing applies for the opposite gender.
They only taught abstinence in school and then wondered why 16 students got pregnant before graduation. 10 of which were sophomores. but it works right? lmao My gym teacher however made us all sign a permission form to teach us real sex ed because you know shes actually educated lol
Well - in the U.S. you've got so much squickiness about sex in the U.S;. - it's what happens when you merge religion with state. Which results in a bunch of uneducated kids, more STI's, more pregnancies. It never ends.
Sex is like a skill in a video game; you have to use that skill over and over and over to level it up to get good at it. As your skill level increases you get new and interesting abilities to make sex more enjoyable.
You definitely have to grind to make sex worth your while (ba-dum shhh)
My brother’s school taught abstinence. Their definition of abstinence was “abstaining from doing something”. They would not say what the “something” was. “If its something you feel like doing, you shouldn’t do it.”
They even sent home a letter asking parents if they wanted their kids to “opt out of sex ed”, which is abstinence only. My mom joked about sending in a reply
“Well if they aren’t getting taught about fucking, I’d rather my son be doing something else because it’s a waste of his time.”
I talked about sex in my 8th grade math class (cause everyone was asking questions about it), so my teacher explained to us that when you diside to penetrate someone or someone disides to penetrate you you have lost your virginity, so my response was "so if I pock someone in the ear with my index finger did I just lose my virginity and did I steal theirs along with mine?" Everyone just laughed and I never got in answer. But I still think that definition works, but it should be a little less vage, and at least mention your privates.
I learned about sex in the 7th grade and our class learned everything from anatomy and proper terms , how to put on a condom , the pill for girls , how babies are formed , oral sex and marriage. My parents were very supportive of the class. Sex Ed should be and a must for learning before high school
Whenever I see XXX President Clinton and sex in the same sentence I am reminded of Clinton's ultimate hypocrisy...
Clinton appointed Dr. J Elders as the first female African American US Surgeon general... then he FIRED her... for suggesting that masturbation be included in sex education discussions. He caved in to the the religious right. But it doesn't end there.
He went on to masturbate Monica Lewinsky with a cigar... but not any cigar but a Gurkha cigar, the finest cigar available to White House politicians for masturbating women since 1878.
To learn more just Google: Clinton/cigar.
In my opinion, 98% of the world is and always has been illiterate and semi-illiterate. They simply do not rise above these standards. That is why the institutions like the church exist. The government has a responsibility that they never inherited or took over from these, mainly to harbor the literate and give them positions in society. The university simply no longer fulfill these needs.
Trump has decided that abstinence only sex ed should be the norm and is attempting to enact it country wide.... its funny its almost as if trump watches this show and goes fuck it...everyone's laughing so it must be okay
I grew up in rural Utah, teachers weren’t even allowed to give girls who got their periods in class tampons, we were taught abstinence only sex Ed, we were not taught about contraception, and there was absolutely no discussion about orientation. It was nightmarish
Teach them everything over the course of their lives little by little and let them decide for themselves. Show cause and effect and all possible outcomes of all their choices without trying to scare the shit out of them.
this is just DISGUSTING -.- so disgusting... always with the retarded religious fundamentalists in the USA ... its SO pathetic, its weird how they dont get along with the ISIS terrorists... i mean they have so much in common when it comes to being prudish douches
i moved from new york to florida my junior year of high school. i had to retake health because florida didn't take my health credit from new york, so i saw this firsthand. in new york, we were shown pictures of STDs, and although it was pretty gross and extremely uncomfortable, that did more to encourage abstinence and sexual responsibility than any abstinence education. in florida we were split up into girl's and boy's groups and the girl's group had our male gym teacher come in with an apple. he said something like "you are like this apple. every time you have sex, a bite is taken out of you. now imagine it's marriage time and you've met the love of your life, but he looks at you and you're at your core. nobody wants to eat an apple with 10 bites taken out of it". i was 17 when that happened but the class is intended for freshman-- 14 OR 15 YEAR OLDS!!! like you hear a lot about people objectifying women but what is a better example of that than a man 30 years your senior telling young women they are apples and their literal soul purpose in life, like the apple's is to feed, is to have sex??! it's like those terrible anti cigarette commercials that are so cringey that you want to pick up smoking just to dissociate yourself from that message. anywho i'm in college now but i follow 2 of the girls from that class on instagram, and true, real story, one of them already had a child and one of them is pregnant. the only two i follow, and they are 2 years younger than me, not even out of high school yet. so thank you abstinence only sex education you made me feel like shit and got my friends pregnant woo hoo
Out of curiosity, what part of Florida was this? Seems super back woods. I grew up in Palm Beach County, and still live here. 7th Grade Health class back in the early 90s... I am 39 now. ...was super accurate and informative in all aspects. Including photos and demonstrations on props. I hope it's just as good if not better now. One thing that made in impression on me was the teacher taking out a condom and rolled it up over her fingers, over her knuckles, and half way up to her elbow, and saying not using a condom because they don't fit is total BS. Those things stretch out a lot.
It completely baffels me that there even is such a thing as abstinance-only education. In my school time, I had sex ed 3 times (4th grade, 6th grade and 8th grade), we were all taught how to put on a condom and how different kinds of contraceptives work. Not once was anyone pressured into having sex or not having sex
This was the video played at the start of my sex education class. I go to school in South Africa. My teacher literally said “This is South Africa. We’re gonna tell you about this so you don’t end up ruining your lives with STIs and pregnancy. Here’s how to have sex safely.” I shit you not. The South African sex ed slogan is “America won’t tell you this stuff”
It's pretty crazy how in my anatomy class full of high school juniors and seniors, none of the guys knew ANYTHING about basic female anatomy, nor did many if the students in general understand what birth control even was, much less what it did. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, as it's well known that public schools tend to be pretty lax, but still... Honestly, I still can't believe it. For context, I've had multiple arguments with older students (including girls, who should practically be experts at this point) who had absolutely NO clue what menstrual cycle even was, other than a few incredibly basic facts. And I've met more than a few girls in my school who believe that not having sex on a bed means you cannot get pregnant. And we wonder why there's been a rise in teen pregnancies here...
I think we should offer to pay people to have tubal ligations or vasectomies. The social impact would be profound.
Fewer unwanted children being born into terrible circumstances kickstarts a chain reaction of positive change. We saw this when New York legalized abortion in the 70s. By the 90s crime rates and poverty had dropped significantly. You also have less strain on Medicaid and social welfare programs.
There is a difference between abstinence, per se, and abstinence-centered education. John Oliver never spoke against the idea or decision of abstinence, no. He spoke out against abstinence-centered education. Abstinence, in and of itself, is an understandable option, but it is only one option. John was explaining that while it is fine to teach abstinence as one option, it is wrong to teach abstinence as the only option; that disservice does far more harm to anyone than providing all of the facts and options.
Stephen2462 you're not wrong. also i really hope that saying "screw up" was an intended pun. what i meant was that he acts like abstinence is a horrible thing. "kids are still being EXPOSED to abstinence centered sex ed"
The problem with abstinence centered sex ed is that you're trying to tell teens not to do something they're biologically hardwired to do. It's fundamentally stupid. And because teens are given so little info in abstinence centered sex ed, they're more likely to screw up and end up with STDs or a pregnancy.
It's one of the two big reasons conservative states tend to have significantly higher rates of abortion and teen pregnancy.
I grew up in Mexico and i when i was in 4th grade the class was divided girls in one class and boys in another they thought us about sex Ed in the girl class the first thing they thought us was periods and i was very thankful because once i got my period i wasn't scared and i knew what to do. After i moved back here and they teach you sex Ed in 9th grade!! To me that was super fucking crazy
Lol im from Denmark. We just had sex ed i school. The main difference in it is these factors. 1. Our teachers is prohibeted not to teach us 2. You are allowed to have sex the day you turn 15
3. It is all true and no one has ever been knocked up while ive been in this school
Community pharmacists are the health professionals most accessible to the public. They supply medicines in accordance with a prescription or, when legally permitted, sell them without a prescription. In addition to ensuring an accurate supply of appropriate products, their professional activities also cover counselling of patients at the time of dispensing of prescription and non-prescription drugs, drug information to health professionals, patients and the general public, and participation in health-promotion programmes. They maintain links with other health professionals in primary health care.
