Doing legs up against a wall is a posture which is most nourishing, grounding and calming for you. In Legs Up the Wall posture, you lie on your back with your sit bones as close to the wall as is comfortable for you. From there, you then extend your legs up the wall so that the backs of your legs are resting fully against it. You can practice this pose for at least 10 to 15 minutes to gain maximum health benefits. The 6 things that happen when you put your legs up against a wall every day are: 1. Reduces Lower Back Pain This pose stretches out the hamstrings and reduces lower back pain by relieving the pressure from the lower back. 2. Reduces Edema in the Legs and Feet In this pose the effects of gravity on your legs and feet are reversed so any stuck or stagnant fluids that may build up there if you have low blood pressure or spend a lot of time on your feet during your day will get moving. 3. Relieves Tired Leg Muscles When you hang out your legs up the wall then it helps to drain tension from the legs, feet, and even the hips if you have them elevated on blocks. 4. Decreases Inflammation This pose increases blood flow and circulation and reduces swellings in the feet, ankles, and calves region. 5. Super calming for the Nervous System This posture is a deeply relaxing pose. When you combine a longer hold of Legs Up the Wall with slow, rhythmic breathing, you will be tapping into your rest and digest nervous response. When you do poses like Legs Up the Wall consistently for a period of time, you may notice that your body feels healthier overall and you have a calm state of mind. 6. Helps Quiet the Mind Doing this posture may help you in cultivating a quiet mind if you practice it for a period of time.
