I just did what he said and it worked thanks a million, we replaced a PCM on a 2007 Toyota Camry and as soon as we came to start the engine the engine will start and dies as soon I was releasing the key it was dyeing and then after words I try it again and it just cranks no start when I turn the key off and on again then it will start and die immediately as soon as I release the key so I did exactly what this guy said in the video I jumped exactly the same wires at OBD II and it worked like a charm, thanks a million, by the way I am an auto mechanic with over 25 years of experience and we replaced the PCM on a customer car because it had a code that their was an internal failure and I new the new PCM was not recognizing the old key (I was planning to call a key programmer).
Worked for me too! I have -04 t25 Avensis. Bought ”new” ecm from scrapyard, swapped it in place and did that paperclip-trick. After that car starts and works perfectly again! Thanks.
And in my case, shorting pins 5 and 13 for half hour did the trick.
Is the brake/abs ECU different then that of the Engine ECU? Given I know ECU stands for 'engine control unit,' but some listings on ebay/forms make it seem that these are separate devices. Given my prius had all the same lights it seemed yours did. Thanks in advance!
compare the picture diagram at 9:58 with what he's looking at 10:18 the wider part of module is at the bottom not the same as picture where the wider part is facing up. So you start with 1 at the bottom right. He's using 5 and 12 holes instead of 4 and 13 facepalm.
NO..not true OF COURSE NOT. Dealer wont charge you $200 bucks for that. Have a oil change or buy a wiper inserts or if you both a key fab from them they'll do the key programming for free. Careful you don't want to burn, toast or short your computer out and pay for a new one. Again if you buy a computer from them they'll install it for free or worse charge you .15 around $40 bucks. But the best part is you have a pcs. of mind and if the new computer is faulty they'll exchange it for a brand new one PART WARRANTY. If you can afford a LEXUS you can afford $40 bucks or dealer oil change..come on. Lol!
Hey gorge my computer car doesn’t want to go to programming mode and I will like to put my control remote that is separate from the key to work. The car came with one but I broke it at work so I went and by another in keyless I been trying the code open doors and close doors but is not entering to a computer programming mode. And does why I can’t installed the control remote please email me or text me firstname.lastname@example.org.
You better learn how to remove battery terminals..you should never connect positive first...and when disconnecting only negative is necessary..NO Circuit to Ground equals No bateery..NO NEED to remove Positive. Unless you are replacing the bateery or removing for other jobs.
Thank you thank you! This work perfect for my 2016 Toyota Avalon. The dealership was going to have me pay out a whole bunch of money to get a brand new ECU, even though I had a used ECU they said couldn’t be programmed for another car. I tried this trick with my keys inside and the used ECU worked perfectly.
I want to know that ecu sockets lock same is they are interchangeable or not?
and are ECU wiring are specific to pin number(like example injector 1 should be that pin#4) or it is random(injector 1 can any pin# assigns ? is wiring free style or specific to data of companies .Thanks
i am trying the 30 minute reset , my car has 0 acc 0 ignition with no codes i did change the hybrid synergy pump then it stopped running i think the ecu is not communicating with the key. My car is a 2004 Toyota Prius
If you look at the video closely, the right pins got shorted. It is upside down and inverted from the diagram. If you have a scan tool the pins are numbered. You will see that it is 4 and 13. Did this on a 2004 sienna, junkyard ecu, and it worked just fine.
Do you need the master key or will this allow any key to be programed? Will it allow a previously programmed key "used" to be programmed or only new or unlocked? will the original key work or will that have to be reprogrammed? Am i to assume the original key is linked to the smart key module or this? Thank You
