SUBSCRIBE TO THE PODCAST: http://ur1.ca/50ptm Iceland was one of the hardest hit nations in the immediate aftermath of the September 2008 economic meltdown. Asked by their own government to pay Britain and Holland for bailing out their Icesave-exposed banks, the people overwhelmingly said "no." Do the actions of the Icelandic people present an example for the rest of the world as we see the global economy teetering on the edge of collapse? Find out on this week's GRTV Feature Interview with Michael Hudson.

Sometimes I don't know whether Hudson has to mince language because of the company he keeps, but the ideal market he describes is a fascist market. The market reforms he suggests were the ones implemented in Franco's Spain, Mussolini's Italy, and yes, Hitler's Germany. And they worked. All essential industries are nationalized while private property was left more-or-less intact. There's nothing "right wing" or "fascistic" about the global-capitalist regime. It's communism's evil twin. Rather than controlling with hunger, it controls with abundance.

This was nothing. Wait until America defaults and the banks take all the public land in America in repossession for their felony crime of counterfeiting currency.

And this is precisely how We The People should confront Wall street and the so called U.S. debt with the Federal Res!

it's just a resurgent of the old noble surf system.

Absolutely -It is simply that no matter what spin some verbose politico economist puts on it.

If you have a 'financial war against the population' as MH says why would you if you had assets such as ownership of banks. Is't it more likely htht if you own a bank in Iceland you would want a large population with skills and ability to make deposits. After all this is what banks are all about - Mnoey on deposit and providing banking to the public at a charge.

I haven´t suggested anything of the kind. But no money-issuing authority can go about and just print money freely without influencing inflation and interest rate.
vandboeffel (5 лет назад)
Apart from that the sentence "it spends money into existence" makes no sense, I can assure you that a government, that just prints money to cover its debt is bound to encounter a severe rise in the interest rate. After all the interest rate is the price of money - have you checked the interest rate in Greece recently ? So the first part of your "response" is incoherent and the second part is nonsense.

09:50 Population of Iceland 800.000........................ Last time I checked it was around 320.000

Also look into this, Google, "Predatory lending" You weren't one of those victims not because you were more responsible than those victims but you just weren't in the market. For those lenders, it'd be easier to lure you into a fraudulent contract than snatch a candy from 3 yr old.

If you borrow more than you are able to pay back, you inevitably run into problems, whether you are a private person, a business or a government.

"Maybe he doesn't know what fascism is." == Corporations control the gov. In Iceland case, it was the bankers threw the country in the economic chaos and the gov, was wiling to help them out. What's your explanation of Iceland economic failure?
allgoo19 (5 лет назад)
This is main stream economics speaking, real power of knowledge. It just happen to be extremely unpopular among rich people and people in power.

300,000 not 800,000 people live in iceland

@vandboeffel i am and icelander and i agree with almost everything he says( he only got a few statistcs wron(none important))
vandboeffel (6 лет назад)
@WilhelmDrake Not quite. He is describing the government of Iceland as socio-fascist, without explaining what exactly he means. It doesn't sound very fascist to make referendums about the economic policy - and it doesn't sound fascist with an economic system with little government control. Maybe he doesn't know what fascism is.
vandboeffel (6 лет назад)
I wonder if this guy has ever been to Iceland or if he just makes things up as he goes. "Socio-fascist government", oh really !!

Or the populations will reach a point of enlightenment about this 'debt' that we somehow found ourselves owing & tell the bankers to go take a flying fuck at the moon....! Lanterns & pitchforks anyone?
Ally Strong (6 лет назад)
This is accurate, it reflects all the other countries going through similar situations, For a clear example look at the China and US trade Deficit and then look at the Banks around the world. Its most definately one of the few accurate assessments.
TheMuse (6 лет назад)
@aaronrex i'd be interested to know the real story of the financial war against Iceland if this isn't accurate. any vids?

@jak1428 And once again your caught by the Matrix....maybe the PdV, but actually, there is just no electable party in germany. Because they are all professionel ploiticians, they are not independent. And the pirates are just a new way for the criminals to collect the protestors without really giving change a chance. A change for the better, i mean.

@nekopheliac What does Krugman have to do with this interview, or does it mention him and I just didn't notice this part? And I think you mean Paul Krugman, who, maybe not today, but several years ago often, if not always, wrote for the NYT.
jak1428 (6 лет назад)
depressingly he's right about social democrats and greens. at least in germany they are corrupt bastards. i cant believe i voted for those assholes in the past. now im cured and will vote either (genuine) socialists or possibly pirates...

Bring the financial oligarchy down with exchanging your fiat paper currrencies into gold/silver.
