So does this mean that the way those two perpendicular sines affect each other is similar to how harmonies affect each other in music? Could a Harmonograph be used to draw out what CdimM7 looks like?

Something like x=t^2+2 y=2t , unlike a Cartesian equation which is in the form y=f(x), note: in some cases you can find the cartesian equation from a parametric, so in the example I gave do y/2=t then substitute this into the other equation to get x=(y/t)^2+2. Hope this helped.

they're equations where the plotted variables (e.g. x and y) both depend on an independent variable (e.g. t) this is scarier than it sounds. you've probably seen a plot of y = x? it's a straight diagonal line. well, we could express y = x in parametric form as, x = t y = t
