In this video I check out the 7artisans 12mm F2.8 Ultra Wide Angle Lens for Sony E-mount APS-C Mirrorless Cameras and tell you my thoughts as it compares to the Sigma 16mm and Rokinon 12mm.

Hey i want to ask somthing.
I am using a6000 with 16-50, and when i shoot with 16mm and RAW format to shoot landscape photograph the result is distortion of horizon line becomes curve is not flat (not about flat earth lol) and when i use jpg the result is flat horizon and RAW result is wider than jpg, is it because of camera process? And how about manual lens like 12mm 7artisan your review above? is it the same as 16mm in kit lens?
Can you review the ANY Anamorhot Lens under $1000? Theres is one on amazon but hard to find legit looking reviews and i want to see it on a Sony Emount before i buy and im sure thousands others would be frothing on this lens and video. The FROTH Levels for ANAMORPHOT ever since the kickstarter has taking off for the Moments Lens guys. ,,i will be like Fredrico and post 10 times about this and if you dont liekit maybe i can be that lucky sub! lol
@Minute 6 and later: It's called focus breathing. Among tele lenses it's a common phenomenon. Not so much among wide angle lenses, that's true. But that you seem to have never heard of it gives me real confidence in your overall expertise!
I have off topic questions and scared my a6500 may be a f ck up! ...when i change lenses i can not see any of the photos on my camera from the other lenses , like when i put on the 105 after the kit lens and vice verse?? why would it do this
Hi there! I’m a big fan of your channel I have to admit, I have a Sony a6000 for 1 year now, I didn’t really like the kit lens that came with the camera so I got myself a Sigma 16mm f1.4 and a Sony 50mm f1.8 and I just love them! But know my question is, what lens could I get as from 16 to 50 mm it’s such a big gap, let’s say my budget goes until 400$, what would you advice?!
thanks for the honest opinion. the 7artisan lenses, as well as many other Chinese manual focus lenses, are really just copying vintage lens designs. the huge focus breathing seen with this lens indicates it's likely moving the whole lens back and forth for focusing.
Agree with your brother. After buying the sigma 16mm for my a6000, I have already sold 2 lenses and LOVE LOVE LOVE how sharp the sigma is. Was going to sell my a6000 but finally found the perfect match for it with the sigma 16mm so she lives on.
You're awesome for the fact that you listened to your viewer's request, and then you're going to send it to him! I've been watching your videos for a good while and mad respect! Maybe we'll meet up since we're both in TX
Was so excited to try on the Sigma 16mm, but mine arrived DOA. It would not focus, neither manually nor by autofocus. Back to B&H it goes for a replacement. Hope the next one works. If it's as sharp as the 30mm F/1.4, it'll be well worth the wait.
Chris Kaufman I tried the Tamron 70-200 F2.8 DI old version, not the newer one with VC. That one is roughly 500€. Together with sigma MC 11 = doesn't work!
Plus you need to note that a 70-200 + Adapter is extremely heavy! These are full frame lenses. Stupid combination. Lens is 1.2 kg, adapter 200 gram.
There is NO APS-C lens 2.8 on earth at the moment. The ONLY option is Sigma 50-100 F1.8! This is probably going to work with mc11 and 1.8 gives you similar shallow death of field like FF does with 2.8.
I Love your videos! I started watching them because I had planned to get the A6500, but when the A7ii dropped $500 in February, I bought that instead. I still watch your videos though because I love your style and responsiveness to subscriber input. Keep up the great work!
Te dejo mis datos hombre.

I do have the 12mm 7artisans since January and I had 2 copy of this lens (the first one had a problem so I send it back and I received a new one 2-3 days later (I m living in China so that’s why) when I was in Japan I had the chance to compare it with the sigma16, and the 7artisans can still give a really nice feelings, a face to face with other lenses would be nice and clear 😉
Haha I also asked you to review this lens! I don't need a free one though cause I already bought it (and love it). It might fall a little short for photography, but for video it's as good as most people could need it to be. I also have the Sigma 16mm (which is obviously vastly superior) but it's really not quite wide enough for every situation.
Wow lucky guy. I hope he give me his rokinon hehe just kidding. Love your channel. I switch to sony because of your channel. I learn alot in a simple and easiest way. Now i have my sony a6000 and i shoot weddings and birthdays with it. And also a vlog. God bless sir TM. 🙏🙏🙏
EE DESIGN I have the 16mm Sigma (which is as fantastic as everyone says). And I also have the 7artisans 12mm. They're both really useful, I don't consider them interchangeable. Considering how cheap it is I think the 7artisans is worth picking up for those ultra wide shots.
Aka as “focus breathing“
12mm is a total different focal length compared to 16mm! Difference in field of view is immense. It's exceeds the wider the angle gets. 4mm on tele is negligible, NOT on wide angle lenses.
