But you conveniently leave out that the average American will have to pay 75% of they're pay check in taxes just to cover this shit. But hey money grows on trees so fuck it right🙄

Why don’t we just take away Congressional health care funded by the government until they give us all healthcare?

Do people know that we pay health insurance plus Medicare in every check we make. Why are we paying double health insurance and only receiving medical service from one insurance??

Good information but this argument presupposes that the alternative is to keep things the way they are. Some of that 59 trillion is the ACA. The mercatus center and all right wing think tanks don't want to keep healthcare the same. They want radical change

Not to mention doctors would not be run by insurance companies who deny coverage consequently better health services = better quality of life. Companies would save money by not having to purchase insurance coverage for their workers. .... Also bankruptcy would go down. Bottom line the burden of health costs causes widespread indebtedness and most people cannot afford it when illness strikes.

Well I know this is gonna be kinda a gamble if you make Healthcare cost more than it is or having to pay for other peoples healthcare. Also you can't use Donuts to explain Healthcare that's not how it works
Ian Oomen (5 месяцев назад)
So if I understand it correctly: 1. the study basically concluded that the total amount of money spend on medical things would drop by 2 trillion. 2. The government would pay a much bigger share due to taking over the costs of private deductibles and out of pocket expenses etc. 3. The individual wouldn't have to pay for his essential medical care

Spoiler alert mental healthcare is covered better under an expanded VA healthcare system that works like Shriners for CHIP with the world's best surgeons shared between Medicare/VA & OB-GYN-CHIP within a single administration and expanded medical resources with an AP program in highschools to educate more medical officer candidates who receive free year round education & paid residency ...while fulfilling national service requirements ...foreign consular for two years or five years domestic... all while gaining a security clearance and understanding of administrative healthcare at its highest level...higher than Harvard or Hopkins ...look it up on Facebook...Vorsg Xxul...AQUATIC - Policy Consultant..."The White Elephant" part 1 & 2

To USURP an entire industry only existing to pay bills (and pay their stockholders) would be a REFRESHING thing. Just paying directly to health care providers seems like a delicious deal. All the middlemen will have to get work elsewhere. I hope this idea floats. Hey - let's try it. If it is heinous, then we can try something else. But other nations have been utilizing this or similar models so we can examine their successes (and failures) and move from an educated position toward something better than the idiocy we now support.
D Conner (5 месяцев назад)
As we speak, administrators of health care -- insurance co. hospitals, pharma -- take the lion's share of healthcare dollars. The Democrats sought to limit this in the original plan for reform, but the Republicans, as ever, voted this down. Getting things passed in an uneducated nation that embraces marketing and consumption over pragmatic sharing of resources is difficult. First there's this -- the "tendency for people to seek and accept information that confirms their existing beliefs while rejecting or ignoring that which contradicts those beliefs" https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2018/08/180810120037.htm How to motivate people -- to do the best things or simply do anything? Always the big question. Education is key to Democracy. We so need to pay well and attract the best minds to teaching at all levels -- AND all subjects: Limited background in the social sciences makes for limited thinking. We're reaping the result now. It always amazes me how little is taught about the history of religion, especially the English Civil War, its forces still playing out in the Red State mind, Pence and his Theocracy. The magical thinking of literal scripture. And horror of horrors, Betsy Devos now head of education. But good drama and stories can also be great educators. GOT for instance can be very sophisticated in understanding social order and motivation. The Tudors did this as well. As for movies, the Right knows this and now owns the majority of theaters -- something we saw reflected last weekend with the wide release of (the idiotic) "Death Of A Nation." Hang together, people. United we stand. Vote the Republicans out of the House. Understand how the system works, or we will never again get a chance to change anything.

Hi. I could not figure out how to ask a question of Bernie, so I thought I would ask all of you. I have been looking at his healthcare plan on his website where he states that the us currently spends about 3 trillion a year on healthcare and that his plan would cost 1.38 trillion a year saving over 6 trillion over the next 10 years from the current plan. I am confused though because the numbers don't add up. Can someone please explain to me what I am misunderstanding about the plan? Thanks.

In my country the market has got more room in our welfare system, I personally know that companies don't provide better service than our government. sure it's sounds better and why shouldn't you shell out only while your sick? Simply the reason that more money for the welfare budget which means more economic power to distribute where is needed. I rather pay taxes as everyone does and get however much support while I need it(for free). Personally I think America is broken, fix the system and the corruption firstly so you can support your own citizens to flourish not a small %.

News flash everyone, insurance companies are the death panel, pharma is the death panel.  Don't want the government controlling your medical coverage, but everyone's perfectly OK with insurance companies writing bills, sending families into bankruptcy, allowing people to die and literally CONTROLLING YOUR MEDICAL COVERAGE!!!!!!  Wake up people, follow the money.  Take a look at who's getting 'lobbying' (payoffs) from the insurance and pharmaceutical companies.  While you're at it, look at the other major industries paying off your representatives just to make a buck, while they fill the world with propaganda, sickness and pollution.  Cuba has better health overall because they understand that it's cheaper in the long run to push preventative medicine, hitting issues before they're life threatening and much more costly.  When people are taking uber over an ambulance because they're deathly afraid of the bill, it's a serious problem.

All these people concerned about government having power over our medical needs as if the government already doesn't tell you what you can and can't consume XD xD they have more power over that subject than ever in American history. Healthcare for all would be fantastic! I know plenty of people with emergency medical bills they can't pay and that means that the doctors aren't getting paid unless support from the government is granted.

Bernie's plan (nothing personal Bernie) is just a polished turd. The government can't run anything efficiently. Take a good look at the VA. The solution in my opinion is total free competition. Free competition doesn't exist in the health care industry. I can call 1-800 Gieco or numerous others and negotiate car insurance coverage in any state. Not so with health insurance. Why? Government and lobbyists. Aside from basic consumer protections government has no place in "private industry ".

Totally agree with Donuts for all. See two main outstanding issues. First, people have to realize Donuts for all will necessarily have limits. You won't always be able to get a donut when you want (but don't need) one and there may be a LONG line at the store. And, as any healthcare professional can tell you, Americans hate dietary restrictions with a passion. Second, the gov't funded programs currently pay donut makers substantially less than the market, and the shortfall is effectively covered by other Donut Buyers (insurers) or additional applied government grants. To avoid Donut makers revolting and Donut factory shutdowns, the gov't has to not only placate other Donut buyers but also find more money for the donut makers. From a healthcare professional w/ econ background.
green amean (5 месяцев назад)
Inaccurate. It would cost 32 trillion to start and fund free healthcare for x amount of time. Then require additional taxes to fund it. How about limit the power the government and insurance companies have on healthcare? I don't understand why people are so against putting health care into the free market. Both sides don't want this. Why?

In real time saving Medicare For All in just next ten years would save closer to seven Trillion. Kick brothers know in fact cutting cost on meds scrips can up that saving money to ten Trillion dollars. Bernie and so many others with him in The USA not US as well, worldwide have been working for way too long to get this done.

All of the Healthcare for all people need to do some actual research and study into the so called success stories of all the other western societies that have this. Take a look at a realistic view of Canada's Healthcare system: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2jijuj1ysw&t=5s The US has Healthcare for all. It is called the Veterans Administration (VA). It is a disaster. People die while waiting for care. The care is terrible. So this is what you want for all of us? The reason why Healthcare in America is so expensive is because of government regulation and government subsidies. Government limits competition. If government would just get out of US Healthcare, prices would drop due to competition. US Healthcare in the past was way cheaper and had a higher level of quality. As government started getting involved Healthcare prices increased and quality went down. This is historical fact, not an opinion. If you idiots get Healthcare for all you are going to see the same issues that Canadians face. Canadians that can afford it use pay for care because it is better quality and service. This is provable fact as well. Even the Healthcare providers will tell you to go to pay for care if you can afford it. Only an idiot wants government to have control of Healthcare.
Robert Wilson (5 месяцев назад)
Well I do support Medicare for all, we do need to remember that Medicare as it stands today only pays about 80% of the costs. Making Medicare supplemental plans in Medicare Advantage plans available to more people would be a much easier sell and what Bernie proposes. This way the conservatives can still argue it's a free market still has a part, and insurance companies will still be able to Market their products to the consumer. It's a win-win for everyone

This video confused me. We would only add 30 million people? What about everyone who currently has an insurance plan they pay for? Medicare for all means those people too right?
Rich Martinez (5 месяцев назад)
The problem is that the person selling the donuts will raise cost because people will not care about the cost of any care so the donut maker will raise prices to the extremes because it will payed for by the government and no one is comparing prices or trying to reduce unnecessary visits because its payed for by the Government regardless.
Matheus Ribeiro (5 месяцев назад)
The idea of not having health care for all is to stupid. Here in Brazil, we have everything for free and it's great. It doesn't exist people dying for not having money to buy drugs they need, the government just give it way. I don't know why people prefer to pay for the own health insurance (that isn't cheap) to pay a little more tax to have for free. Such a dumb idea
Timothy Regan (5 месяцев назад)
While I think Medicare for a could eventually be implemented, theres a massive amount of potential data scenarios that needs to be examined. For one, this video alludes to prices that Medicare puts on healthcare and relies on those prices to stay. However, Medicare is one of the lowest paying insurers in the country due in part to the federal government limiting how much providerd can charge. Hospitals and practices cover overhead and profits from private insurers, allowing more practices to take Medicare. If Medicare paid 800 dollars for an ER visit, Blue Cross may pay 2000. Take away Blue Cross and you need 3 Medicare patients to cover the lost money. What do those profits go towards though? Quality of care. Practices making money fund things like new medical equipment, more staff, better salaries, quality of equipment, quality of medicine provided and one of the most important things that makes American healthcare leagued above other nations, medical research. Its also worth noting that this video assumes that removing all the federal subsidies and coverage costs will go away by insuring Americans, when in reality it shifts costs to Medicare directly. Medicare is currently profitable, but only because it is given out to disabled and elderly. Put 300m+ people on Medicare for all, and the medicare tax per person needs to go up dramatically. Retired individuals or disabled individuals dont, cant and should not contribute to this. Also if someone tries to spoon feed you, "well X country does it why cant we?" That country makes up for most of the cost with taxes, and really high taxes. Taxes would be the only way to make Medicare for all possible, something that Bernies plan most definitely has, but hes not going to put in a video. All in all, I believe that Medicare for all can actually work, but i honestly dony believe we have mapped out all reprecussions for it yet. Quite frankly, given Bernies track record for radical, ill thought out ideas, he would need a lot of help to convince the country to move ahead with this.
