Break Up the Banks!

Оценок: 620 | Просмотров: 4335
Today, the six largest banks in America have over $10 trillion in assets, equivalent to 54% of GDP. Bottom line: If a bank is too big to fail, it is too big to exist.

It's time to hold the banks accountable! We need to investigate them like Iceland and send them to the guantanamo

Has anyone here ever noticed that politicians never, ever, proposed legislation that pays off our bills? I can only think of one guy in history of the Democrat Party that proposed to pay bills for us. And that was our bill from World War II. And he got shot. And to this day... Nobody knows who did it. Coincidence? Here's another good question. And I really hope we can talk about this. Hopefully it's not too soon... in our history books every president has an Administration . But only 1 president has an era. Andrew Jackson. His presidency is known as the Jacksonian era. Why?
Reel Tech (13 дней назад)
It sounds like a lot of wall Street's problems. Particularly the big Banks. Have a problem with debt. Now who do you think is a bigger expert on debt? Bernie Sanders? Or Dave Ramsey? One of those guys has written a book about getting out of debt. And the other one spent most of his life signing people up for welfare.
Reel Tech (13 дней назад)
Actually... Millions of Americans would have kept their homes if Eric Holder would have prosecuted his buddies on Wall Street.

"The last time you guys called me into Congress. You decided to break my company into 32 pieces. But you gave me a piece of every company. The direct result of that was, you guys made me 32 times richer. I never would have thought of that." John D Rockefeller. Testimony of the second congressional hearing on the breaking up of Standard Oil. In America, you can have an idea. You can have an idea that changes the way we live. And sometimes changing the way we live, is very profitable to the person who brought about the change. Henry Ford for example. His greatest contribution to our country, was not the automobile. It was not the assembly line. It was the introduction of a new industry. And with that new industry, education changed. Henry Ford's true genius was that he turned farmers into engineer's. Farmers with less than an eighth grade education. All of a sudden had to understand mathematics. And hydraulics and the inner workings of an internal combustion engine. Those farmers moved America from one Coast to the other. Politicians called this the rustbelt. In Henry's time, it was called the land of opportunity. But Henry gave them money for their accomplishments. He rewarded them with the creation of the middle class. Giving them the ability to buy goods and services. And transport themselves from point A to point B. And those people, the working class, put their money in the bank. And that bank provided them a safe place to store their money. But that security does not come without a price. The ability do complex transactions is usually lost on today's society. And you can see this in the amount of supporters that Bernie Sanders has. It is their inability to do math that Bernie is capitalizing on. You see, and Henry Ford's time people understood that if you did good work, you got good pay. if you were willing to sacrifice your mind your body and your spirit in order to make somebody else's dream come true, yours would come to fruition as well. but because this is America. unlike any other country in the world. You have a choice as to where you put your money. it could be in your mattress. It could be in a tin can. It could be in a bank. Only one out of those three choices is going to be profitable to someone else. But, it is you who makes the decision to make the banker, or Ford Motor Company, to show profits. it is not government's role to legislate profitability. that's not what it was founded to do. Using the government 2 create law limiting anybody's choice or services or care is possible. the ability to amend the Constitution gives it the flexibility we need to continuously grow as a nation. But misusing this power is like using a screwdriver as a pry bar. Sure they look the same, but only one is the appropriate tool for the job. You use a pry bar when you need to pry bar. You use a screwdriver when you need a screwdriver. in this case we have learned from Standard Oil and Bell Industries, that you do not break up a company. You make it easier for others to compete. however, in a capitalist Society, it's not up to the government as to who can use what product. Capitalism is consumer-based. All consumers of race color creed religion are allowed to participate. The market dictates what direction the market is going. This is called Liberty. Totalitarianism in every form hates Liberty. Those of us who have it, aren't going to give it away. In fact, those of us who have Liberty, would encourage those living under totalitarianism, to get some for themselves. It's great...:)

We need to Nationalize Banks including the Fed, we need to Nationalize Healthcare like in 🇬🇧, and we need to Nationalize all energy companies/utilities and then radically switch to green energy.

Senator Bernie Sanders - Actually, the "too big to fail" should apply to any corporation: banks, communications, defense, anyone. How did we end up with this many monopolies? Republicans? Nope. Democrats were in on it too. They made millions by risking the American people's heritage and freedom. All of them ignored the American people and gave to themselves.

Limiting the size of these banks is missing the point.  The charters of these banks which grant the exclusive monopoly on money creation to them alone must be revoked.  Money creation should be the supreme obligation of our governments.  Go to "positivemoney.com"  and learn how this all happened at the hands of banking lobbyists.
john Last (4 дня назад)
I wish you were correct but you are not.  The system the banks use does indeed create money and dollar for dollar they create debt to the borrowers.  The bailout was demanded because not to do so would have seriously impacted the banks' reserve account and that would never do.  With the only exception of metallic coin,  all money is created as debt when banks make loans.
WizardJohn (14 дней назад)
Banks create debt not money. If they created money they wouldn't have needed to be bailed out by the gov, which is the only issuer of money. Your statement that Banks have the right to create money is totally untrue and has no basis in fact at all.

C Geer - You're under no obligation to like or appreciate Sanders, but you _really_ need to get past 2016. I find comments like yours frustrating because the idea of a third party just 'jumping in' & having a viable chance of success (no matter _who_ is running) is completely unrealistic right now, unfortunately. We all agree we need more than 2 parties, but our system is so built around those two that it's going to take a lot of work & political support to actually change it. Bernie (like everyone else) was looking at the big picture, & exactly how much worse that pic would be if Trump became President. Once he 'lost' (re: had stolen) his primary, the only option to *possibly* avoid that future was to support Trump's opponent regardless of his opinions of her personally. I don't see that as kissing anyone's ass, nor have I ever seen 'pride' as his motive for doing or not doing _anything._ He _barely_ lost, & it was because of that ridiculous 'rigging' by the DNC, he had nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of as far as how far he got in the Democratic Presidential primaries on his first attempt.

I just hope this is simple enough for most common folks to get. Wall Street caused the collapse and recession and they think we should let them risk the economy because they've learned their ways or we should just forget? In your case banks and bank owners... you're goddamn nuts for this and those who aren't in favor of this... you're either brainwashed or don't know exactly how this is a bad thing. Even though A LOT of you experienced the recession... Please go in favor of this bill Bernie wants!
Dai Fox (16 дней назад)
+Mark Gigiel There can be some bad forms of Socailism but for what Bernie and others are fighting for a is a Democratic Socialism. I think I've boiled down the word to simply meaning... someone who wants government programs that benefit the people and the government as a whole. ^^ That's my best guess and it's boiled down so it may be missing some aspects.
Mark Gigiel (16 дней назад)

It is led by leaders that are highly regarded and are not Wall Street mentality, it is based out of Texas and does not have the love of money focus, it has and is forever service focused.

I believe, from viewing other Sanders' videos and other reliable sources, that is close to what Sanders' & OUR Revolution is proposing here. See his "Banks are gambling with our money" (You Tube) I think the idea of an new, improved, Glass-Steagall (1932) is made plain in it.

1irustim, I do love most of what he says. Unfortunately, his follow through can be very disappointing. I have decided not to support this corrupt system, where it is even doubtful that your vote will be counted. I doubt that he will get the nomination to run because he does not carry the right bloodlines to be APPOINTED in our fake voting system. They could be using him to herd the sheep back into the party, just like they did last time. The solutions that he has been coming up with proves that these treasonous criminals in office know exactly what to do to make America work for all of us. Still if he continues to propose workable common sense solutions and actually gets positive results, I could be persuaded to rejoin the sheep, if he runs.
